I grew up in the Bay Area of California eating Chinese food in Chinatown so my standards/expectations might be elevated... that being said I'm so glad that I found Chef LI's in Oldsmar. They're sweet-and-sour chicken is my husband's favorite because they don't put the sauce on the chicken becomes on the side as it should. I really like their chow mein as well as their fried rice and their Kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef. I always get their food to go and they have a great to go set up... you walk in the door and they're ready for you. Charge your card. They have all the sauces and mustard available to grab as much as you like.... And also chopsticks.. Parking is super easy and their prices are very reasonable with large portions. read more

This is my go to for a quick Chinese fast food spot. BEEF CHOW FUN WITH BLACK BEAN SAUCE. If you're not going to read anything else, that's all you need to know and order. You're welcome :) Their beef chow fun with black bean sauce is my favorite item. It tastes authentic and it turns out they make the noodles themselves. I also enjoyed their spare ribs with bone, fried chicken wings appetizer, and egg drop soup. The venue itself is pretty small, there is no space to sit down, it's literally call and order, pick up, pay, and leave. The staff is always friendly. Side note- If you use Uber Eats, you won't find the Beef Chow Fun item on their Uber Eats menu, you'll have to call and coordinate with the staff. read more

This is now our go too for take out Chinese! A coworker recommended it to us as we have been disappointed with all the other places we've tried. The beef, seafood and chicken selection are fresh. The beef is non fatty. The portions are plentiful as well. Although I prefer a very spicy Thai, curry and Hunan style the heat is decent however I do jack it up with my own spices prior to eating. Sunday after church, family (6) voted for Chinese. Daughter had been told their Gen Cho Chicken was the best around. But it is just a carry out place, so we called in an order for Moo Goo Gai Pan, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Bourbon Chicken and three (3) General Cho Chicken. Plus an order of Dim Sum. Most of the family went to our house to set the table and drinks. My eldest daughter and I picked up the orders. Now most places our party of 6 would be well over $100, but this was only $66, given that we all wanted items from the $8.88 lunch combos with rice and egg rolls. Plus the fact that we all made two meals from it. Order was ready in 10 minutes after arrival. We hurried home and dug in - after giving thanks. Dim Sum was great. Shrimp Lobster was great. Bourbon Chicken was great. Gen Tso Chicken was superb. Just as we were told, spiced just right and not heavy with a lot of batter. Everyone loved it. A bit disappointed at the Moo Goo, my dish. The dumplings were rubbery and meat had a weird taste. I paid with cash and the woman just took the money and walked away without giving me change. It was 70 something cents, but still. This is our go-to Chinese restaurant in the area. We get their Shrimp Chow Fun which is super flavorful and comes with large plump shrimp. We also get the General Tso's Chicken and the Ta Chen Chicken which are both crispy, tender, with a sweet tanginess. The General Tso's Chicken is not very spicy for us so we do ask for it to be spicier. We have tried their Fried Chicken Wings before which are crispy but I think needs a bit more seasoning. Lately with the cooler weather, I've been craving Chinese food. I have my favorite restaurant near me, but a friend of mine suggested I try Chef Li. When I arrived at the restaurant I discovered it's not a restaurant. It's a kitchen only, & thus it's take out only. I ordered Szechuan Shrimp, & about 15 minutes later I was handed a to-go bag. I brought the meal home & it had retained its heat well. The Szechuan Shrimp was a super watery dish. There were 5 shrimp in it & a bunch of vegetables. The flavor was average but nothing to write home about. The fried rice was also nothing special. Quite frankly there are better Chinese restaurants near me with food I would rate higher. read more

After I placed the order i went to drive to pick it up and wait around. But when I got there, the staff said the only item waiting was the chicken lo mein! So cool! Best small mom-and-pop Chinese place in WestChase/Oldsmar area. They are family-owned and operated, and these people really care about their customers. I order from them once a month. A few months ago, I called to place an order and the woman taking the order kept having me repeat my order, as I was hard to understand (I had a cold). She repeated the order, gave me the total, and I paid (over the phone). When my order showed up, they included a large chicken and rice soup in a separate container inside a brown paper bag with the words "Hope you feel better!" written on the outside. More of a quantity over quality dish . Yummy chicken 3/5 it's a mixture of General Taos chicken and orange chicken. House Special Soup Chicken, Roast Pork, Shrimp, Wonton 2/5 I was craving soup so this is the main reason why we decided to order here. The broth is light vegetable broth . However the quality of the meats is subpar. The Pu Pu For Two 2 Each 3/5 Crispy Egg Roll, Teriyaki Beef Sticks, Fantail Shrimp, BBQ Spareribs, Krab Rangoon, 4 Fried Chicken Wings. The most edible of all these dishes were the teriyaki beef sticks. According to other reviews it seems like they excel in all the beef dishes. Whereas we ordered mostly chicken. Not sure what went wrong here , we take no pleasure in giving any establishment lower ratings but this is an honest review. Well, just had takeout tonight as I read the reviews and I wish people would actually honestly write a good reviews. First off when I placed my order, she told me it would take 15 to 20 minutes and I'm only five minutes away so I rushed over there and thank God I did because my food was already ready. As I got home and we took out the food to eat the food was cold and very bland, the chicken was so dry. My wife was coughing on it. Two entrées and a small chow mein, doesn't really matter what they were because they were not good was $44. This has been our go-to Chinese for the decade we lived in FL and we've highly recommended to friends and neighbors on ND and FB. It seem the business had been sold, a new generation has taken over - or there's been some other huge change that's affected the quality of their food. The past 3xs we've ordered from them, the quality of the food and preparation have both deteriorated to the point we won't be back. The fresh delicious entrees are now ladled with the dark gooey sauce that seems to be the standard in many Chinese restaurants in FL. The fried rice was covered in so much soy sauce and spooned out in a clump vs their perfectly cooked rice with the right amount of sauce with strips of fresh pork. It now tastes (and looked) like it was cooked in advance and dumped into the container as ordered. forget the egg rolls. It's def not the same Chef Li quality we've all grown to love over the years. Trusty Yelp to the rescue when searching the other day and had a craving. Though, admittedly, I was sad that they are still only doing To-Go right now but completely understand. And from the number of people coming in and out with their orders, it is not stopping their loyal customers. We ordered the Pu-Pu for two so we could get a tester on numerous items and I was surprised to see that on the menu as a lot of places have stopped doing it for some reason. Comes with 2 Crispy Egg Rolls, Teriyaki Beef Sticks, Fantail Shrimp, BBQ Spare Ribs, Krab Rangoon and 4 Fried Chicken Wings. Oh, and a small egg drop soup... gotta have that! I ordered the chicken with fresh mushrooms that you have the open of small, large or combo (that comes with an egg roll and white rice). I just ordered the small as I knew we both wanted to try the Special Fried Rice (pork, chicken, shrimp) and we had egg rolls in the Pu-Pu platter. Ben ordered the small Szechuan beef. We tried a ton more dishes for Father's Day (clearly the men in this house chose where they wanted to get takeout). We ended up ordering TWELVE dishes and it came out to around $115 (not including tax and tip). How's that for a great deal?! Here are my favorites in order: Squid black bean sauce: They finally had squid available and I loved it! I don't know why I didn't expect to see black beans in the black bean sauce (duh), but there are and the sauce is delicious. There were so many pieces of squid. I will get this every time. Seafood chow fun: I love their chow fun. The first time I walked away a little meh about it, because it tasted kind of doughy to me, but now that I've had it three more times, I have to say I love it. That first time might have been an off day. Satay chicken sticks: They do meat on a stick well. I liked the chicken sticks just a smidge better than the beef teriyaki sticks (which I totally disagree with Brett N. giving the beef teriyaki sticks four stars, they're five for sure). Beef teriyaki sticks: see above Sesame chicken: I love their sesame sauce. I tried their sesame tofu in the past, which is a great option if you avoid meat, but I do like the sesame chicken better. They give you huge chunks of chicken, not just the little balls of it. So good. Beef fried rice: Ok, this is going to be a bit weird, but I love the beef in the beef fried rice. They don't give you a lot of it, which is sad, but I take all the beef and the men get the fried rice. Beef with broccoli: I really do like their beef if you can't tell. The broccoli tastes fresh and not soft at all. Of course, the beef is delicious. We also got boneless spare ribs (which my husband loves, but I don't eat pork), dim sum (which is shumai, but for some reason is on their menu just as dim sum. Again, I didn't touch it because I thought there might be pork, but my dad said it was good. This definitely doesn't seem to be the frozen ones you get at the Asian grocery store like we experienced at another restaurant), beef lo mein (being that there were a million other dishes I didn't touch this one, but now that I'm writing this, I might go looking for the beef), egg rolls (my husband loves them) and they gave us free donuts. With the free donuts, they asked us what we'd want for free. I think the choices were wonton soup, crab rangoon or chinese donuts. I got the donuts to see if my son would eat them, which he didn't, so I'd probably try something else next time. I don't know if they always do this or if it's just because we always order such a crazy amount of food. Like I wrote before, their sanitation efforts are top notch, which is why I let my family eat here. When they're busy it can take up to an hour and a half for your food to be ready. This time it was ready in thirty minutes. This is definitely our go to place. It's now three days later and we are still making our way through leftovers! read more

Chef Li open for takeout during pandemic. I happen to drove pass by and decided to give them a try since they got high mark from Christina review. The is close to sit down but available on take out. We order the grilled beef on the stick. I think this is the best value and best dish. They come in order of 4 or 8. It is go well with the red wine. The chef special shrimp and scallops, bird nest are are almost the same sauce. Except one serve over the fried bowl tortilla. It look pretty. The schezchuan tofu is a great dish. I got the small portion. The beef chow fun is tasty to have. I would recommend this dish also. Chef Li is basically a take out store Chinese food.
