My number 1 go to Asian Pearl closed. For months I was looking for a place as close to possible as NY Chinese food. I read a number of reviews from multiple platforms and decided to give Great Wall a try. I ordered three egg rolls, large pork fried rice, vegetable egg foo young and wonton soup. The wonton soup was delicious. The brown sauce for the egg foo young was on point. The pork fried rice was fresh. All the dishes were extremely hot even with the drive home. The staff was friendly. My first time trying this Chinese Restaurant; location & parking were very good. Young woman at front was pleasant & polite when I went to pickup my Order. I had to call to place Order on phone, while using an online Menu as, I was unable to Order online, informed woman at Restaurant, when I called. Chef was an older Chinese Man was in the Open-Kitchen, which looked clean & neat. My Order Portions were average however, flavor was really lacking, very bland in traditional dishes & veggies over-cooked, compared to what I have Ordered at many other Chinese Restaurant locations. read more

My wife and I decided to grab haircuts at FS but close to lunch and busy with a 35-40 minute wait. So found Great Wall in the next block. Called to make sure they had inside dining, they said they did, so headed down. Well the inside dining is same as most Chinese carry out places. A couple small tables and chairs designed more to wait for pick up orders. No one there so we ordered our food and had a seat. My wife only wanted a bowl of Wonton soup, I chose the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The Wonton soup came immediately. My wife said it was not as good as she was used to and that the crisps were stale. Shortly my meal came and was ok, I just wished there were veggies. The best thing about the entire experience was the most adorable little 4 year old girl (owner's daughter?) that came right over and talked with us for the whole meal! So cute and so many giggles! I didn't expect much and I was mostly impressed. Let's start with this: I don't think the name 'Great Wall Chinese' inspires your taste buds. It makes me think about hiking. In comparison, the name 'China King' conjures up the thought of Dominating Wonton Soup and Roast Pork Lo Main Champion! However, 'China Taste' is another local competitor and sounds good, but I'm not a fan. Therefore, don't judge the Chinese food by its name. As far as mostly impressed... We discovered "Great Wall" because two closer Chinese restaurants had closed. I'm glad we did! We ordered "Shrimp w/ hot garlic sauce", "Singapore Mei Fun" and vegetable fried rice. Delicious, large portions, prompt service, we'll be back! read more

I love Chinese food. The egg rolls were the worst I have ever had. The seafood special was horrible!! The fake crab was like a dough. The piece they called a lobster was so tough you couldn't eat it. The beef and garlic sauce was ok. Very little flavor. Will not be back. read more

Something seriously changed in the past few months. I had mentioned in my first review that this would be my go to Chinese place. 2 days ago we had 50 dollars of food delivered, three different meals. Now we voted as a place we will no longer order from, all of the meals were pretty bad, who puts raw sugar in the white rice or cinnamon in the egg rolls and you send out stale chips! Pretty lousy. Nothing exceeded expectations. Everything was worse than expected actually. Just crappy tasting food. You can do better with stuff from the frozen section of supermarket. "Crab" Rangoons - lousy, I think full of cake frosting? no crab. Terriyaki steak was terrible-burnt and bad flavored, worst terriyaki I've had. Spring roll was dark brown and dripping in oil, contents barely chopped. soups were bland & terrible tasting and came with an immediate msg headache. They give packets of both mustard & sweet&sour instead of cups of real too. On the positive side, it was very cheap...but I've had waaaayy better cheap chinese food. read more

Fabulous. We had Kung pao shrimp and vegetable lo mein, with lots of left overs. Very fast service and easily the best Chinese in the area.

I love this place, and always recommend this family-owned restaurant to friends and acquaintances. I live close, so started eating here about 9 or 10 years ago, and I've been stopping in about 2-3 times a month ever since. Sammy, the young lady at the counter, is always friendly and helpful. The cook, Bin, is great. Meals are always well prepared and tasty (and plentiful). I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area for a quick, great Chinese meal! read more

Great Wall is decent, they are extremely fast and always friendly. We often order from here because it's close to the house. The sweet and sour chicken is very good, and a large portion will easily feed 2 people. I also recommend the pork spare ribs! Stay away from the fried rice, and egg rolls...they could both use a little work. Call ahead and they will have it done in 10 minutes, they rock your food out! read more

Stopped by late one night, and while there are 4-5 tables in the dining area (which was simple, neat and clean), I was in the mood for takout. The kind woman at the counter was very helpful in explaining their menu, and a quick glace convinced me to try my standard order, figuring if they can't get it right, it might not be worth venturing further. So a few short minutes later, I had a bag with a dinner of chicken and broccoli (switched the pork fried rice to chicken), an additional order of large chicken fried rice, a large wonton soup, and 2 egg rolls. A quick trip home had me diving into a the wonderful soup, which had a more delicate flavor compared to other Chinese takeout places I've tried in the area. Not too salty, just a very nice, light chicken flavor enveloping the dumplings. The egg rolls were ok, but not extraordinary. The dinner was packed into those standard square styrofoam boxes, but this meal was loaded with rice, chicken and broccoli. Far more than I get at other places. As for the food, it was quite good. The chicken and broccoli had good flavor, and it was seasoned and cooked well. Not the greatest Chinese takeout I've ever had, but a solid A-OK rating. As for the quantity, I was able to split the dinner and extra fried rice into 4 small meals for $20, so value is high. The biggest downside is that I think they use MSG in the dinners, but not the necessarily the fried rice. I'm on a low-sodium diet, so I'm very sensitive to MSG. I suspected it after eating the chicken and broccoli initially, and finishing off the leftovers gave me more evidence. When I ate the fried rice alone, I didn't have near the problem. We were inspired to come here because our very snooty friend highly recommended it. Our usual place, Chef Li's in Oldsmar, was closed. So we drove a while to get here and were disappointed to find that it wasn't a real restaurant but instead one of those take out places. We brought it home and were surprised to find that the food was pretty good. We got the usual Chinese food staples, and everything was pretty decent. read more

Chinese take out is so similar from one place to another in this area. We go here because it is close to our house. The owners are alway very nice and really appreciate the fact you chose their restaurant over the many others. The food is average Chinese. read more
