Friendly staff. Went there yesterday with my sisters after seeing the reviews to grab some food. I usually go to hibiscus but decided to give this place a try. Worst mistake. Rice soft and wet, roast duck rank and salty. We ordered 2 chicken fried rice one roast duck and one roast pork and got 2 sodas and a pholourie. Wasted my $75. Even the pepper sauce was terrible. Literally took the rest of the food home and fed our chickens. Will never eat there again. None of the food was good. The roast pork and chicken lacked flavor and was dry. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, but everytime we drove by there was no parking. It's on a busy main road and there it shares a parking strip ( no lot) with other store fronts. Ideally you would have to find parking elsewhere and walk to the restaurant ( typical New York) . Anyway , finally drove by last weekend and was lucky to find parking. There is one table with about 4 chairs on one side and a small counter with a few chairs, keep that in mind if you plan on sitting as this to me is more of a pick up and go scenario. However the restaurant is spacious. Right on the front door there was a sign that they don't have a bathroom. So that also indicated to me this might not be a sit down spot. I was starving and decided that I was gonna sit and eat . When we walked in the girl on staff was on the phone taking orders, there were orders waiting to be picked up by delivery people as well and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I was happy to see that even though the place was empty ,food orders were flying in and out. We ordered Beef Lo Mein and Fried Rice with Chicken . Our food was prepared in about 10 mins and I could smell the vibrant flavors from the close by kitchen and see the chef effortlessly sautéing away . I knew our food was gonna be good . It came out smoking hot and delicious. Flavor was good and enjoyable. My friend rice was a little bland but my chicken was true Guyanese style Chinese Chicken. My hubby got the Beef Lo Mein , I picked out most of his beef and he was annoyed, but sorry,it was too good ,I had to steal it . The only disappointment was that they used a noodle like a narrow fettuccine noodle ,I was really looking forward to the authentic yellow Guyanese Noodle ,I mean it makes the dish so good. However ,it was very seasoned and flavorful. The girl at the counter was the only one there but she was handling the phones, packing orders and sending out the delivery guys as if she could do it with blindfolded with her hands tied. Since she was the sole person on deck I didn't want to distract her from her duties. When taking our order she was attentive and didn't act like we were interrupting. Friendly enough for me but I usually engage more. We ate and as I sat there I wondered if another type of customer would have had a similar experience. Someone who had no idea what this type of food was and wanted to ask many questions, etc . Would they have felt attended to or rushed. Just the kinds of things I look at from working in restaurants for many years. Anyway, food was fresh, hot and good. I'll go back for pickup here again when the cravings hit. It's great to see a West Indian style restaurant in the neighborhood predominately packed with Hispanic food. Good to have some additional choices as well. The portion of food you get for the price is not too bad which can actually feed two people easily. Chef Quang makes some of the best Guyanese style fried rice in NYC. No restaurant thus far has been able to take me home to Guyana while eating their food but Chef Quang at least gets me to Cheddi Jagan airport. I have been here several times but have only ordered their fried rice. Their mixed fried rice is my go-to dish. Their fried rice is not too oily and meat is fresh. The shrimp could use some seasoning but eaten along with the rice it's fine. Their menu contains other classic Guyanese dishes like fried shark, black pudding, etc but haven't built up the courage to try them yet. Eventually I had to drive back from Brooklyn to their location to pick up the the right food. I got there this rude person brought the food, dropped it on the counter, and said nothing; I said an apology would be the right thing, she refuse to apologize. This rude & disgusting behavior to your customers is unacceptable, I along with so many other customers is the reason you have a business & that is the respect. As I told her look at my face because they will never have an opportunity to receive my money again. I have begun losing hope for this new restaurant. There food is good and all but they are very different from other places. First off I called one night around 9:15 PM for a delivery and the person who answered the phone says they stopped deliveries for the day. Which doesn't make any sense if there restaurant closes at 11pm. Secondly, When you walk in to place your order, they take way to long. I have heard other people standing by waiting for their order complain. They take so long because the make the food when you order. They have all that counter space and do not use it to display prepared food which would be a lot easier to serve to customers at a quick pace. Many times I've gone, I have waited 30 to 40 minutes for one or two orders. They have like four people working and still move so slow. I'm going to go back to eating from Roti on The Run, this place isn't worth it any more. read more

We ordered the mixed rice which happened to come with some chicken. Now the ONLY reason why I even give them two stars is because the food was great! Flavorful and fresh. The food was so good we actually decided to order again for dinner. Instead of going to the restaurant we ordered through grubhub which estimated delivery at 8:49pm. Mind you the order was placed at 7:24pm. At 9:30 here I am still without food. Attempted to contact the restaurant and I got no answer so I proceeded to contact grubhub. They tried to contact the restaurant and to no avail still received no answer!! I mean how do you confirm an order? Give a delivery time and close without making sure your customer has received their food? Then to top all matters off the restaurants partner (grubhub) can't even contact them. Absolutely terrible. Wow! the food in this place is really good I call and order the spicy shrimp witch was delicious also I order garlic chicken and chicken fried rice with jerk chicken and chicken wings and shrimp lo mein let me tell you the food was delicious everything when I say everything I mean everything. The place is small but and service is kind of slow but well worth the wait. Its the first time we ever had Chinese Guyanese food my family enjoy this food. Passed by this place once and was instantly intrigued. I had never heard of this cuisine and had to do some wiki searching on it. My BF and I stopped by after a beach day on a Friday afternoon and decided to finally give it a try. The menu didn't necessarily wow me but there were a few things I felt like I should try. I ordered the curry goat and Roti and proceeded to wait. and wait. and wait. I read reviews saying how the wait can take forever so that didn't bother me too much. What did bother me was looking at the receipt and realizing my order had been inputted incorrectly into the system. I asked for goat and looked at my receipt and realized that it said curry lamb. When I asked the person who took my order about it to make sure I was getting goat I was asked "why? You can't eat lamb?" I said I can but I wanted goat. It was then that I was notified that they didn't have anymore goat and "that's why" I was given lamb (without being asked first). Who the F does that?! Also if I originally ordered lamb, I would have gotten it with rice, not roti. This dude took away my choice to choose. I see the reviews on peoples take out experiences and personally experienced the wait when ordering in person. Don't think I would ever order online especially when they just give you what they want without notifying you that they don't have what u ordered/paid for. We received it in 35 mins. The food was piping hot and it was flavorful and delicious. We ordered the curry goat and the jerk Lo mein. Both were delicious. I live right across the street from this place and even if I didn't I'd still travel for the food! Everything's at a great price and the people there are SUPER friendly! There's a couple of people on here complaining about delivery and how long the food takes. Let's not forget that THIS is a "mom and pop restaurant". After 90 mins I called to make sure about my order, the lady on the other side said it already left and I repeated my order and she said everything was alright and hung up. This place is overpriced and overrated. Bought a Large order of House Special Fried Rice / Chicken Chow Mein / Chicken Fried Rice. What I got was A House Special Fried Rice with no seafood, pieces of dried, stale beef, slices of prosciutto deli meat. Needless to say, the salt level was off the charts. The Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Mein had 4 to 5 pieces of chicken scraps flooded with soy sauce. Clearly this place don't care about your health. The food is tasty, but no different than your average West Indian restaurant fare. This always happens when a restaurant thinks they can take your service for granted and know you will be back. I, for one, will not be going back there. You can get much better food from West Indian Restaurant staples like Hibiscus and Nest in Richmond Hill.Your have been warned !! read more
