The food was pure bomb . com.. This might be the only jamaican restaurant that I have seen in the area, but I remember them from Brooklyn. It's mixed BBQ & JAMAICAN FOOD and both sides sure puff was gooooood. The cowfoot soup chef kisses okkkkk, and it was small. I was like damn cooked to perfection. The fried fish good crunchy crispy and full of all the flavors. It was put into the fish, and they had some big pieces, so be prepared for a fish sandwich. The fried chicken wasn't ready so we decided that we would wait. We sat outside in their outdoor space where there were two large wood tables with bench seating. The cabbage is typical for West Indian restaurants, not flavorful but I already knew that and only got it because there were no collard greens. This food ain't good! What's going on with some of these restaurants now that are serving rice and peas. Do they realize that it's a part of the meal & should be tasty? The oxtail was just cooked. A gem of Queens. The food is worth the wait. The best comfort food in the rockaways. The BBQ chicken is sooo good. I usually get a large bbq chicken with rice and veggies with oxtail gravy over the rice. The perfect harmony of delicious west Indian food. The jerk chicken is a bit spicy for me. The oxtail is awesome too. Falls right off the bone. The gravy has a hint of spice. Its soo delicious. The fish is also good but always default for the oxtail gravy to top it off. This was my first time going here. It was evening time and they had all their food in stock except for veggies/cabbage. Often time Caribbean restaurants are not fully stocked in the evening. Service was quick and very friendly. I got a large oxtail with peas and rice. I was not disappointed, the oxtails were seasoned well and tasted great. Yesterday they had new staff, taking orders and they had no system.. not only were they disorganized but one of the owners was do rude, yelling, pointing and telling me I'm causing stress after waiting 30 minutes, visually looking at my food and still not receiving it, while others who came behind me is getting their food and leaving. Everything was flavorful. Both the jerk and curry chicken were fall-off-the-bone tender and seasoned well. The rice was good too. They also gave me extra sauce across my rice. Extra yummy!!! Mac and cheese was good, not the best I've had, but it was good. Not greasy, it was cheesy and the pasta was soft. The steamed veggies and plantains were also good. They did not have any roti today, but I will definitely go back to try it. The portions are generous. I paid $8 for a large which is enough to feed my partner and I. A small is a dollar less. I definitely recommend this local business. When I went it was busy. The staff was super friendly and patient while I tried to rework my order after they told me that they didn't have roti (which was the whole reason I stopped in). The food is great always fresh and consistent however since they've been in business for more than 20 years they should know what the communities wants are.... Often sell out or are in the process of making popular items on the menu, not good! Gotta get that together in the food business. They have a lot of employees however they always seem overwhelmed with large orders and will ask over again what you wanted..... and you get attitude with the question! This place never disappoints! My husband and I make a twice yearly pilgrimage from Brooklyn to eat at Goody's. We start off on City bikes, to catch NYC Ferry, then Hop on Lime bikes along the boardwalk. Once we arrive we are hungry and tired. We eat there on picnic benches and always take food to go!! With that being said I have one issue that happened today... first let me say I'm in no way cheap I have spent upwards or $50 in goodys at one time!! Today I go in to get jerk chicken but I didnt want sides because I just had surgery and rice and other stuff I will have a hard time digesting so the young lady who took my order asks no rice? I say no just chicken she asks 2 I say just one... she makes the order I ask for jerk sauce she packs it up puts it on the counter says nothing not even what my total is just looks at me so I hand her $20 she hands me back $1.50 I'm stunned I look down at the money then up at the menu she then says that price is for a dinner you got just chicken it's 2lbs of chicken... ummmm well why didnt you say I'd be charged double for just chicken if I don't get sides I woulda ordered a coleslaw or salad there's no way I intended to spend $20 TODAY you have to communicate and have total transparency not blindside your customers... other than that keep up the otherwise good work! read more
