Sorry, I gotta drop a star. This isn't about their food but the aggravation of just trying to order the food. I call from work when leaving for my 1 hr lunch break so that by the time I drive 15 minutes to get there, the food will be ready. Many many times, I'm put on hold (meaning she puts the phone down and I can hear kitchen noises or the lady yelling) and I stay on hold for 10 minutes while driving. She never picks up the phone again so I call and call and call back to only go to voicemail with an old message. Then I get to the store, order food, wait 10-20 minutes, drive 10 minutes home, eat whatever I can shove in my mouth in 5 minutes and then have to go back to work. Kudos on good chinese food! Read good reviews about Chef Tai's and decided to check it out! Less than 10 minutes from FAU (my 2nd home: Goooo Owls!) and reasonably priced! Originally planned to have the Honey Garlic Chicken lunch special (under $6) as my pickup order but they don't accept credit cards for under $10 (fair enough); so I added the Kung Pao chicken lunch special as well for a grand total of $12.68 w/tax! This was my 1st time having Kung Pao soooo I don't have anything to contrast it to... but I will say this, the flavoring is pretty good and there is a good amount of food for one person to eat more than one time from.... also lots of veggies! The Honey Garlic Chicken though is pretty good! The flavoring is all there and it is satisfying... Will definitely be checking out other lunch/dinner specials there! read more

I have struggled to find a good Chinese place since I moved to Florida. After I tried Chef Tai's I fell in love! They have an easy accessible location, it's always ready within 15-20 minutes, and everything I have ordered has been great! I always get beef broccoli and my boyfriend gets the general tso's chicken and we split the chicken lo mein and two egg rolls! I ordered mixed veggies with brown sauce that comes with a side of white rice. My biggest issue was the lack of sauce. There was only enough sauce to mix in with about a quarter of the small side of rice. Strange considering brown sauce is literally in the name of the dish. I basically got a bowl of dry veggies to mix in with my mostly dry rice. Not to mention, even the sauce itself had barely any flavor at all. After moving from Boca I realize how amazing Chef Tai's was!! I always got fresh food, perfectly cooked. The cashew chicken is my favorite, plenty of chicken and veggies and a ton of cashews. The fried rice is hot and always fresh never mushy or lacking pork or other ingredients. We have ordered delivery and they are prompt and inexpensive. We things we have ordered have all been fresh, well seasoned and very good. The only negative was the sautéed broccoli, my guest wasn't crazy about the sauce. Favorites are the general tso's chicken and the orange chicken. The food is good and not too expensive. The main reason I gave it 2 stars has to do with the service. It's horrible. I've always believed in giving places second chances - but I've done that and won't give it a third. I ordered a meal, had the woman on the phone read it back to me - then when i called to say they got my order wrong she said she repeated the order back to me and i was mistaken. She said I needed to listen better. AS IF!! This happened two separate times. In order for me to get what I wanted, I had to reorder, pay for a 2nd meal and wait for the driver. I ordered for Delivery Chicken and Mixed Vegetables. I paid. Driver left. When I got my movie ready and everything I openwd the box to Rice with Mixed vegetablea DROWNED in sauce. NO Chicken! When I called the restaurant, a Girl answered, then put me on hold after I told her what happened. She askes if I could "call back" because the driver was the one that took my order. So WHAT! Just remake my damn order and work out your mistake amongst yourself. She had to ask me "please give the driver back your food" Sure thing. Like this is some sort of SCAM I'm pulling! Finally! A good Chinese takeout south of NYC!! I ordered the honey chicken, house fried rice and egg roll which were all cooked to crispy, salty, sweet perfection. The chicken wasn't too breaded, the rice was perfection and eggroll was en point. I'm in such shock, I never thought I would ever taste descent Chineese food here in Florida ever. Um...Idk what problems everyone had with the staff but they were nice to me. Granted, I have very limited exposure to the menu since I order almost the same thing every time, but I know what I like. The food arrives extremely quickly, usually within 15 minutes. It is always piping hot, tastes delicious and best of all, they don't nickel and dime you. If you ask for extra crispy noodles or extra mustard, they do it and without complaint. I've been here a few times now with my girlfriend. They're such great people, and treat you nicely, even for just a simple hello, payment, and goodbye. The food here is delicious, and well priced. I have no complaints about any of the food or visits that I've had here. It is hard ordering over the phone, but she always reads back the order, and we work together until it's correct. I enjoyed ordering from these folks for YEARS. For the price I thought they were the best you could get without really paying through the nose. They have changed ownership and the food is COMPLETELY different. When I called to let them know things had taken a nose dive they hung up on me. (I'm guessing it wasnt the first call). We have lost several good chinese options. Canton garden gone, Uncle Tais gone, Pine Garden Gone, and now Chef Tais is enedible. I would say the best remaining option would be Sushi Tai. read more

Perfectly cooked shrimp w/ broccoli. I ordered the combo and it came with enough for two lunches, easily. The fried rice was nice and tender. This is a white/clear garlic sauce, not the usual dark brown oyster sauce style. The egg roll was cooked to perfection and the lunch combo came with a coke! Deal for $11 after tip! I admit that I am a New Yorker! Have been in Boca Raton for almost one week. Suffering from Chinese food withdrawal I discounted the star ratings on Yelp and read individual reviews of 10 local "Chinese " restaurants. The star system is flawed in this case because the reviews are, for the most part, from people who have never experienced real Chinese food or the Americanized Cantonese food that evolved and became standardized in New York and the west coast in the 1950's. No matter how sincere their evaluations may be, to someone like me they are worthless. This restaurant makes honest Americanized Cantonese food lovingly, honestly and very well indeed. It is fresh and delicious. The portions are generous. The prices very reasonable. We ordered egg rolls, roast pork with mixed vegetables , house special egg foo young and a wonderful chicken with eggplant. Traditionally this last dish is excessively oily. Not so at Chef Tai's. It was light and flavorful and spiced with a light and knowing hand. Try it. You'll like it too. read more

I have been to this restaurant a few times since they got new owners. All i have to say is that the food and service has been amazing. The chicken was some luke warm breaded chicken with some sauce on the side. The Fried Rice was just Dry and Bland. These are not difficult things to get right.
