Friendliest staff! Delicious food and large portions. Tea and coffee were kept refilled. The sausage gravy had a good amount of sausage. There were 3 pieces of tenderloin with eggs, grits, home fries and a biscuit on the special plate. A little off I-20 but worth the drive. read more

We had a great experience here. The staff was very friendly. Our server was very attentive. I've never met her before but she treated us like she knew us. She even gave me a hug before I left. The food was delicious. I got the Denver Omelet. I expected it to have ham, cheese, onions, and peppers but I think it had sausage as well. It was very good and the egg was nice and thin just like an omelet should be. I got it with the home fries. It did have a few very firm potatoes but it was crispy and tasted good so I didn't mind. My husband opted for the Ash &Trash. I had to steal a bite and that was very good too. The hash browns were very crispy and with all those toppings.....wow. He also got the 2 eggs with bacon and home fries. His eggs were cooked correctly and the bacon was crispy with good flavor. I think we have found our new breakfast spot. We used to eat here once or twice a week. Now, we're down to once or twice a month, primarily because the prices have soared and the food choices have declined (do that many people eat liver?). My favorite has always been the chicken fried steak but yesterday, it wasn't even homemade but rather a breaded patty from a box, warmed up and served with gravy. I really hate seeing the decline. Service has declined as well. Our waitress not only had an attitude but yelled across the room at people, and you're lucky if the person up front has time to take your money. I think we're likely done with this place. read more

Very good place for breakfast. I am particular about what I eat because I enjoy maintaining good health, even when in the South where that is sometimes harder to do but it is possible if I have a restaurant who is willing to help their customers coming back rather than helping them to an early grave. Chef T's not only graciously accommodated my "beyond vegetarian but never totally vegan" lifestyle and food preferences but the food was very good. I asked for an egg white veggie omelet minus butter oil and cheese, with wheat toast minus butter and grits minus butter and cheese. They made it perfectly. The grits were so good I asked for a double order. Smooth and tasty, no butter! Everything was made perfectly the first time, I didn't have to ask for anything to be redone because someone didn't comprehend my request. The ambiance is very comfortable and not overly crowded with tables nearly on top of each other. I will definitely be back tomorrow and the next couple of weekends while in the area. I highly recommend this establishment, especially if you are a vegetarian or have other special diet needs that require just an easy adjustment to the normal menu food preparation. The Chef (T) is a middle aged man with an excellent, well mannered and respectful personality. We need more people in the country to return to being that kind of person and love each other. I feel blessed having found this place and Chef T and his employees who make dining here a joy. read more

I have eaten here many times, and it was good, but my experience on 8/8/23 was horrible. My self and a friend ordered a gizzard plate and a side salad. I got my salad and bread, she didn't until 15 minutes later. My salad was fresh and delicious, hers wasn't. The cucumbers were rotten and covered in slime, and the tomatoes had black spots on them. She called the waitress several times, and she didn't respond although she was standing a foot away. Finally, my friend took her salad back to the kitchen and gave it to them. When the waitress finally came back to our table, she asked my friend what she wanted instead of salad, and she chose okra. When our meal came, they didn't come out together. I got mine and 10 minutes later my friend got hers. My plate was piled high with gizzards and fries, and hers had half what my plate had. When I tasted my gizzards They were rancid. They tasted spoiled or were cooked in old grease. My friend said that hers were bad also. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she was rude and condescending. She went and got the manager and she was worse. She bent over the table and got right in my face. She said that there was nothing wrong with the gizzards and that their food was fresh and the frying oil was just changed the day before. She wanted to prove to me that the oil was fresh and brought me 3 gizzards in a small bowl. Those tasted just as bad as what we already had. At that point, she was really pissed off. I wanted so badly to push her out of my face but would never do that. She told us several times that they all of their food is fried in the same oil and that it must be my tastebuds are off. When we got the ticket, it had the full price for everything. The waitress rudely came over and said that the manager had told her to adjust our ticket. We were charged for two dinner salads instead of the 1. Remember, my friend had returned her and got Okra. They charged my friend over $3 for the okra. My friend ate one piece of her okra and left the rest because it tasted like the fried gizzards. We didn't eat our fries either because they too tasted like the gizzards. On the ticket, they charged us more than 10% tax. At that point, it was useless to say another word. When we left, the chef, manager, and waitress were all standing there watching us. The chef had his hands on his hips. I guess that this was a show of force. LOL. I honestly believe that our waitress is racist. I am white, and my friend is black. I believe that it was a problem for her. The table of 4 whites next to us was being waited on by our waitress, and she was falling all over them, laughing and cutting up. They got their food it record time. My black friend was treated like crap. Perhaps our waitress doesn't like blacks socializing with whites. My friend and I have worked together for years, are neighbors, and retired from the same government job. For anyone to treat my friend like this waitress did is a travesty. BEWARE of Chef T's. Oh, by the way, I had diarrhea within 25 minutes of eating that meal and had terrible nausea. My friend called me this morning and said that she had been sick all night with nausea and terrible stomach cramps. I guess it's time to call the Health Department. read more

Breakfast is top notch! Staff is always super kind, small town friendly. Pancakes and bacon are best anywhere around.

My only complaints is that the coffee was very weak and their french toast was just not good, but an all around decent place if you're looking for some southern food. The T bone steak was awful. Like a cheap grocery store reject. It was full of gristle and not much flavor. Everything was below average.

The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is exceptional. I have to come here every time I'm down from California because it's literally the best food and service I've experienced in my life. If you like food that's made with heart, soul and love then you have to eat here. They make the worlds best fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and basically anything you order will exceed your expectations and then some. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I have been ordering food from this restaurant for years now - since before it was Chef T's. Today I ordered a western omelet with hash browns and toast. I also ordered a double order of bacon. It cost me $17.77. When I asked the waitress why it cost that much, she advised that the omelet/hashbrowns/toast cost $9.34 and the orders of bacon cost 3.35 each (+tax). For that price, I could have bought two packs of bacon from Wal-Mart. The bacon I got from Chef T's was scorched to the point that it did not taste like bacon at all and I threw it out. The omelet was overcooked and rubbery. I will not order breakfast from this place again. I stopped by Jack's in Coldwater and got more bacon. For a double order there, it cost less than $4.00 and was not scorched. IHOP has awesome omelets and I've never had a rubbery one from there. Guess where I'm going the next time I want an omelet? read more
