The stuffed French toast lived up to the hype in other reviews - tangy cream cheese, sweet and cinnamon-y toast, luscious and real berry toppings. My advice is to skip anything else and just get the stuffed French toast combo. That gives you some eggs and bacon to balance out the sweetness, but doesn't waste too much stomach space that could be used for, you guessed it, the stuffed French toast. We also split the eggs Benedict, which was pretty darn tasty on its own...hash browns were crispy and hot, Canadian bacon was smoky and salty, and the sauce was more cheesy than lemony. But hey, it's basically a greasy spoon diner. Don't ask them to do a gourmet hollandaise, you know? The service was also incredibly fast and attentive, prices very reasonable. We were looking for a new breakfast place after church and were happy we tried Chefo's. An average sized place that appears to have made an addition recently. Atmosphere was typical Wisconsin diner with a mix of some remodeling but older furnishings (our booth rocked). Nothing to write home about but welcoming/cozy. As we were sitting close to the door it was quickly noticeable as people came in that the staff knew many by name. The menu read like an encyclopedia. Typically I'm not a fan of large menus but I do like to have many breakfast options. Seriously, there wasn't anything that this place didn't offer. Our service was excellent with our waitress stopping back frequently and being very receptive and friendly. Food delivery was average. Portion size was very large so the economics were good. Food quality was average to good. My potato pancakes were slightly doughy (not fried crisp) and the sausage a bit over-done but no complaints from the rest of the family. This place is probably more like a 3-star for most but it felt right for me and the service made it. It's a bit out of the way for us but we will definitely be coming back for Sunday breakfast in the future. read more

After reading good reviews across the board, I decided to give this restaurant a try. It's a very cozy, country style establishment , with simple seating; booths, tables and small breakfast bar. The interior has pine wood walls and ceilings, offering that back woods cabin feel. I went Breakfast for lunch, ordering the Ribeye steak and eggs, with a side of biscuits & gravy and fresh fruit. The steak and eggs came with three eggs cooked your way, hash browns and your choice of pancakes or the biscuits and gravy. I ordered the steak medium rare, it came out rare, but it was still very good. I decided just to eat it the way it was. The seasoning was very corse though, with large chunks of spices that were a little rough on the teeth. My eggs, ordered over easy, were cooked perfectly! I know some people probably think there isn't much to cooking a perfect egg, but there is. You want an egg that is soft and white, with the yoke being the only runny part and no crispy edges. These eggs did not disappoint! I ordered my hash browns extra crispy, with fried onions. The hash browns were delicious, had that rich buttery taste, but I would have liked to see the onions fried better. They were more sautéed than fried. The biscuits and gravy weren't really anything to brag about, but they were good. The sausage gravy, while it could be homemade, tasted and appeared to be a caned product. They were still enjoyable to eat though. The fresh fruit plate was good; consisting of large cuts of honeydew, cantaloupe and one small slice of banana. I would have like to see a better selection of fruit. Service was good. The place was pretty empty when I stopped in, but the server greeted me as soon as I walked in. I seated myself and the server was at my table quickly. My order came out in about 15 minuets, a very acceptable ticket time. However, the server had to ask the kitchen twice after I had already received the rest of my food, to make my fruit plate. Over all, a very enjoyable experience. A small group of us stopped in for lunch (& proceeded to order breakfast foods as it was still just before 12noon. Lots of parking outside. The inside is "dive-y" looking. Very friendly Staff! Food was good, but not very well described... I had never had a blintz, before, so I inquired of our Server: "What is the difference between a Blintz & a Crepe?" Server: "Our Blintzes have a sweet ricotta filling..." She "sold" me on the SWEET ricotta filling. When I tasted the blintz, I thought that my tastebuds were OFF. But two others at my table tasted it and thought the same as me: there was NOTHING SWEET about the filling. Sad to say, this was "strike" #2 for me. The first being that I'd ordered a medium apple juice and proceeded to quickly consume it. Upon arriving at the end of my juice, I noticed something towards the bottom of my plastic cup. Clearly it was a speck of food. Tiny but very much noticeable and orange-y. When our Server stopped at our table and asked if I'd like another apple juice I politely declined and mentioned how my first cup of juicer had "grossed me out once I got to the bottom". She looked, immediately noticed it, apologized for it and that was it. She did not bother to take it off my bill. Ah, well. Other than those two "items", it wasn't horrible.
