I like the ambiance! It's hidden along the river, as the entrance is towards the back of the building. There is parking alongside the building. They also have patio seating. There were people studying and dining in. I went for brunch with one of my friends and their toddler. They have a little area with toys so it's kid friendly. You could also grab a bite to eat or take advantage of their plentiful indoor/outdoor seating areas to get some work done! This is a more bustling coffee spot and was super packed when we arrived. We decided to stop here for brunch and fell in love with this place! I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was very tasty. It came with salsa verde for dipping and I had no complaints (I love a good breakfast burrito)! We also tried the Waffle Egg Sandwich which came with a side of syrup. I was passing through town and was encouraged by the good reviews on yelp. We popped in for what was supposed to be a quick coffee and bite to eat. While the coffee was decent, the food took close to 30 mins to get-a bagel and salad-and when we received the food the salad had no dressing and the bagel was barely toasted. The lava salt latte I had here was absolutely delicious! Such a well balanced drink. The chocolate croissant I had was also quite good and a decent size for the price. This place was fantastic, albeit very confusing to get to. Well, it's just around the building facing the river, but honestly I was also pretty sleep deprived so I may just have been easily confused by the signs. Regardless of your level of consciousness/awareness, this is the place to get coffee and breakfast in Appleton. Granted, I haven't tried a ton of places, this is an absolute go to. My buddy and I were just in Appleton for like less than 18 hours, but if I were to return again, this is the place I'd choose. So my sample size may not be large, but this is the best in Appleton. Best cappuccino I've had in a while. Absolutely a delight to the senses. Waffle with pecans is a must and apparently the granola and yogurt was mind blowingly good. My friend also got an Italian soda, which when he ordered it, I looked at him as if I haven't known him since 8th grade because he's never done that. However, it was great and it had a lavender addition to it! Would recommend! Now, If you follow my reviews religiously which I know no one does, you'd know that the bread and butter of my reviews are the cinnamon roll. Oh yeah, baby. My quest for the best cinnamon roll continues. My review is as follows: 5/5 roll. Fabulous. Fantastic. Flaky. Perfect texture. Best sugar to roll ratio I've had. This is definitely in my top 5 best cinnamon rolls I've had. The roll is like the flakiness of a crescent but the perfect amount of sweetness not to ruin my meal by being over powering. Tempest is a very beautiful brunch spot with one of the best cafe miels I've had. The reason for a missing star is because when I went on a Sunday for brunch, they were out of smoked salmon and it was in two different options on their menu. So, unfortunately, my friends and I all ordered what was second to the top on our list and ended up getting the breakfast biscuit which was very delicious. I live in the Chicago suburbs and I felt like I was back home, not WI. The vegetable soup I had was not good. Just a tasteless broth with hardly any veggies in it. The adult grilled cheese was ok and did not come with a side. The kids grilled cheese was better than ours! My coffee drink was $8-9 and it was like 2 ounces, maybe a bit more. Stopped for breakfast on a Thursday morning around 9am and it was BUSY. I was surprised how busy it was given it's tucked away on the back of an apartment building. I went with the GF avocado toast and two added eggs. The GF bread was amazing, some of the best I've had. However, the eggs left a lot to be desired. I received a very small portion at first, especially since I had added two. So when I asked they brought me another "egg" and it was an odd consistency.
