Our first time here and we were amazed !! The staff was helpful even though they were incredibly busy and the total atmosphere was great . Fire pit burning , Latin music blasting , people laughing and talking , the smell of meats and spices filled the air . I ordered the Lomo Arepa which was a fresh arepa filled with delicious seasoned steak , onions , yuca , tomatoes and fresh chimichurri on the side . Absolutely delicious !!! My boyfriend had the Chicken Lomo Arepa which was delicious grilled chicken, yuca , tomatoes and onions . Also delicious !! We also ordered the white rice and black beans and the Grandma Chellas fried rice packed with eggs , plantains and red onions. Loved the fried rice and its unique flavors . Chellas Arepa should definitely be on your list of places to try in Lancaster . The delicious foods , outside dining atmosphere, music and friendly staff all combine to make it one heck of an experience . Since it's literally only 5 minutes away we're definitely going back soon . Thank you Chellas Arepa !!

Was visiting Lancaster for work in mid-April and needed a spot for lunch. This was the first place my coworkers recommended. The food truck is now in a permanent location just off the Costco parking lot, but there is also another brick-and-mortar store in the region that I haven't tried. I followed my coworkers recommendations and got the arepa pernil and yuca fries. The food is made-to-order and was ready about 10 minutes later. While there is outdoor seating for patrons, it was a little too windy for me and so I took my order to-go. The portions were quite sizeable and the side of fries would have been very easy to share amongst 2-3 persons. The arepa was loaded to the max and tasted absolutely wonderful! I loved the savory meat being paired with the sweet plantain. Next time I'm in the office I'll be coming back here for more!

This has got to be some of the yummiest food ever. Chellas Arepa Kitchen is located very close to the Lancaster Costco (it diverts off of the road like a little Food Truck-style stand that has its own accompanying parking lot!) Complete with outdoor seating, string lights, festive music, and a bonfire to keep warm! Food == EXCELLENT. If you are stuck on the menu, trust me, you must 10000% get the lomo saltado -- the strips of grilled steak were cooked tenderly to perfection with some of the most amazing sauce with fried yucca pieces mixed in, fresh tomatoes, red onions, and chimichurri sauce on the side. SO FREAKING GOOD! Also plentiful rice. We loved it!!! We also had the chimichurri chicken arepa and yucca fries separately. But the must get dish is the lomo saltado--we'll definitely be back for this (even if we're 45 min away!!)

Wow! This place is amazing! We were in the area on vacation and wanted to try something different. We tried it based on Yelp reviews. Wow, we were not disappointed! When we walked up to order, the lady taking our order was so friendly and smiling! We felt so welcomed! The food is so delicious and fresh! We ordered the Steak Bowl, Lomo Saltado Bowl, and a Lomo Arepa! Everything was so delicious! The prices are good. I did not want to stop eating the food was that delicious! The ambiance is interesting. The Mexican music was so nice, the fire pit was nice to help keep us warm while waiting for our food. They had a lot of customers. They are located across from Costco. My reviews are different. I do not announce myself or tell anyone I am there - I am there to do a review!! Do you remember that feeling as a kid, eagerly waiting for Christmas? Whether it's summertime and you ask your parents for something and they tell you to just wait and Christmas is finally a week away with Mariah Carey singing and the good old A Christmas Story constantly on ABC Family? That is exactly how I felt about wanting to try Chellas in Lancaster. Then I tried it. You know that feeling when you finally open a gift at Christmas and it's just a pair of socks? Well, that's how I felt when I bit into the LA ROXANNE AREPA . I was devastated and disappointed. Having just come back from Sunny's in Miami where I had a delicious steak, I still had high expectations. This steak did not compare. It was very chewy, overcooked, and not enjoyable. However, the one thing that was enjoyable was the atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home along the countryside of PR a fire pit, a nice cooler full of sodas and water, and great outdoor lighting. The Latin music made the vibe even better. I was disappointed by the sandwich, but don't let my review deter you; I only tried one item. The atmosphere is great and there are many more options on the menu. They also have a house sauce that was delicious; I put that right on top and it made the food much more enjoyable. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Mainly because the atmosphere and the staff were so inviting.

Found this food truck stop, thanks to Yelp. But I didn't know it was a food truck stop. No worries, there was plenty of parking. The line was quick. Choosing what to order is what took a bit. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. We placed our orders and waited to be called. In the meantime, had a few questions. So returned to the window. Asked why was yuca chosen instead of potatoes. She didn't know. But ultimately the cook came around. This is Peruvian food influenced with Venezuelan cuisine. So this is the result. Our food came out and I have to say it was delicious! The Lomo Saltado tasted great with the yuca. Maybe healthier, so a winner. My husband loved his pernil arepa. Nice to have the option of Inca cola too. If you like Peruvian food, this place is a winner! Stop by, you'll be glad you did. And if you've never eaten Peruvian food, what are you waiting for?

What a fun concept! I placed my order online. It was easy to make adjustment and easy to pay. The food was absolutely amazing! We all tried something different and we enjoyed the rice bowl,the Arepas, yucca fries, and plantains. Everything came as ordered, was piping hot and delicious. Outside of the food truck, they have a fire going so if you want to sit around and have your meal, you'll be nice and warm. I can't wait to go back and try more of their items.

Been dying to try Chellas since seeing how well they rank on the Yelps list across the USA, let me just say I can see why they are ranked so high!!!!!!! We didn't preorder and it was super cold and windy but there was a fire going to keep warm while you waited, the music was awesome and the decor of the outside seating was very tropical and plentiful, (can't wait to come back in the warmer months)! Okay the food- wow- the arepas were perfectly seared and still soft with a great corn flavor. I got the lomo arepa and the steak wasn't just put on top but also at the bottom of the arepa- great portion size and flavor especially with the chimichurri on top. My husband got the chicken chimicurri arepa and I don't think he spoke for 10 minutes as he wolfed it down! Platanos were piping hot and perfectly fried, Chellas knows how to do it right and I can't wait to go back!

As a Venezuelan, I was excited to try this food truck since they sell arepas, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with Venezuelan food. When we arrived, they told us it would take 20-25 minutes. Even though we had a very hungry toddler and a newborn, we decided to wait. After 45 minutes, we asked what was going on and they said "10 more minutes." One hour later, they told us "15 more minutes" because they were waiting on plantains. I asked them to at least give us the rest of the food since my child was very hungry, and only after insisting did they hand it over. By then, the food had been sitting for over an hour, it was cold, soggy, and chewy, completely inedible. They told us to come back for the plantains, but before leaving I checked and they admitted they actually didn't have any. I asked for a refund, they wrote down my name, and it's now been 5 days with no refund. Everything about this experience was disappointing: the wait, the lack of communication, the poor food quality, and the false promise of a refund. Honestly, I don't understand the hype around this place. The fact that no Latinos were eating there that day might explain a lot.

I was incredibly curious to why this place was rated so high both locally and nationally. I gotta say; super surprised! The food is simple and delicious. Everything is just good; nothing super fancy or expensive; it's just good food. The seats are outside only (for now; heard they got themselves a building) so going on a nice day is important. They have their own parking and seating but it does get crowded. The service is fast; you just walk up and order and 5 min (esp for takeout). The lomo arepa has a lot more pulled pork inside than it looks; the OG everyone raves about Pernil Arepa was ok in my opinion. Yuca fries are a must. Warning; you'll eat 4 pieces and feel like you ate a whole thing of fries; so filling. Come through and try one of the pride and joy of Lancaster!

I would never know about this place if it wasn't for me checking out yelp top 100 places and discovered this one is on the top 5 and I must have drove past it many time when I am around Lancaster. Decided to check it out for lunch one day when I was close and it did not disappoint. A food truck that made it to top 5? Let's see what it's all about. Service was quick, food was fresh, price was reasonable, portion size was not bad. First time heard of arepa and looked it up and found it was a stable food in South America. All of the food was flavorful, I would come back again for more. There is a seating outdoor if you want to eat there, it's quite nice to eat there on a sunny day. People were friendly and the ambiance is good.

I bring to this place stopped by for the great smell of the food. Once we got our arepas, my friend and I were disappointed of the flavor. Meat Wasn't too tasty, the arepa was to dry, and not enough juice for the whole arepa. This place is #1 in the US for a reason. Don't let the curbside food truck and picnic area fool you, this place is no joke! The service and friendliness of the staff was top notch and the Arepas were absolutely incredible. We got the vegetarian arepa and the Roxanne with the chimichurri and cilantro Mayo. This was our first time visiting after hearing good reviews. It did not disappoint! I had the Pernil (pork) arepa and my husband had the Loma(steak). They were both delicious. The food had much more complexity of flavors than we expected. It was fresh and you could taste the different components which all work well together. Not the kind of review you would expect to write for a food truck! The arepa itself was soft and light. The chimichurri and cilantro aoli were very flavorful as well. The 4 stars would be for the price points, I would say, they are off by a few bucks, and they should take the time to make it a bit nicer atmosphere, as you sit and wait for the food. Now, what is absolutely 5 stars here, I was waited on by a sweet young lady, very courteous, and explained to me of different items on the menu, and was so patient while I decided. Delicious! Delicious. Did I say delicious? They're door dashing, call ahead or even easier online order via the website. The aroma wafting from this truck will tell you what's up! Owner and staff so friendly. These things make it so much better, although only for the ease... food consistently amazing. So excited to have a great arepa spot close to my house! Plus, the food is outstanding! I had the pernil arepa which with the mild sweetness goes beautifully with the beans, cheese and plantains along with a chimichurri sauce that can literally be put on anything, potentially even dessert...I also got the yucca fries which you can tell were just fried, gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside, again, topped with the chimichurri and your taste buds will be transmitted to a better world where delicious flavors fill your entire mouth, all for under $15! I've driven past this unassuming trailer across from Costco's gas station countless times and have said to myself "I need to try them sometime". I finally made the move and boy I'm glad I did! They were busy on an early Sunday afternoon but my order was quickly taken. The 15-20 minute time I was quoted was more like a 10 minute actual wait. First point for overdelivering. Finally, my Chimichurri Chicken Arepa was handed over in a styrofoam clamshell. I wanted to eat at one of their picnic tables but it started drizzling so I dined seated in my driver's seat. My first impression was that the Arepa was overloaded. They were generous with their fillings and the Arepa was accompanied by two sauces, a Chimichurri and their Mad Llama sauce. Both were light and fresh and complemented the Arepa nicely. The chicken was tasty and went perfectly with the cheese and avocado. The Arepa itself was toasted perfectly yet still tender to the bite. I regret not eating here sooner but am glad nonetheless that I discovered what is offered here. I definitely plan on returning to try their other items. read more

This place is a must! Delicious food, fresh/quality ingredients, chill vibe, and nice staff. I'm from NJ but whenever I'm over here visiting family this place is an essential. The chicken bowl and a side of yuca fries are my go to, but the pernil arepa is amazing too. The whole menu is gluten free so there's no risk of cross contamination. A food truck located in an unassuming lot next to a Costco in Lancaster, Chellas is a hidden gem! Some of the best arepas I've ever had! We got the chimicurri chicken arepa, pernil arepa, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious but the pernil arepa was the highlight by far! The pulled pork was moist and extremely flavorful. The portions were generous - you'll end up stuffing your face and having no regrets. There are picnic tables outside to sit and eat at. Everything is made fresh, so the wait is ~15 minutes after ordering. Would recommend calling in your order ahead of time if you're in a hurry or just can't wait! read more

Smells amazing when you pull in. Beautiful location. Got the chicken bowl. You get a lot more beans than rice and meat. Meat wasn't that flavorful. My husband got the pork bowl and it was just very sweet. Shredded pork with bbq sauce. I just wasn't impressed with the food. All the veggies and sauces can get a little pricey since it's add ons. Combining our love for cooking with our Latin heritage, we set out to bring something new to Lancaster. The result was fresh Peruvian cuisine and Venezuelan inspired arepas. Those who've taken their taste buds on a trip to the southern hemisphere are blown away by the unique tastes and sensations. Chellas Arepa kitchen is excited to bring to the lancaster area a vibrant fusion of South American inspired comfort food. Luis being born in Peru grew up watching his grandmother Chella make lots of tradition meals. He wants Chellas to be your first option when it comes down to sharing and e biting food and a great service with the ones you love. Like at Chella's House it wasn't just about the food, but of the many flavors and the conversations. Juicy and fell right off the bone. The rice (chaufa) was cooked well and flavor was not overtly soy sauce thankfully. Green beans were crispy and fresh. Overall, I would recommend Friscos to anyone in search of a healthier option for dinner.

I dunno, maybe I'm just being picky for expecting to eat on a paper plate.

There was pão de queijo (a Brazilian cheese bread like an elevated Cheddar Bay Biscuit) to munch on, too. There was a full self-serve salad bar with tasty meats and cheeses as well as bread and butter, black beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, candied bacon, and clam chowder. Once we had our sides and sat back down, we were offered beverages (my girlfriend got a bottled Coke, I got a Guaraná) and waiters started bringing meat. Over the course of our meal, we were offered bacon wrapped chicken or beef (we picked chicken), top sirloin, bottom sirloin, filet mignon, Parmesan crusted pork, and more (it was a little overwhelming). Potatoes were served somewhat randomly - mashed potatoes and potato wedges - along with a palate cleanser of plantains about halfway through the meat parade. It might have been nice to have the potatoes a little earlier but we might not have had enough room for meat if we'd had the potatoes earlier. And the meat is definitely the star of the show. The space is a little small (there was a server's station right behind my girlfriend's seat) but, for the most part, that space is used efficiently. My husband and I ordered the chicken and beef empanadas to start and the smell of the crust alone was enough to brighten our day but the whole of it altogether was an ethereal experience. Perfect combination of a delicious crunchy, flaky crust with a beautiful combination of flavors waiting inside. We would have been delighted to leave it at the empenadas, that alone would have been enough for a 5 (10 if I could) star review but we also ordered the birria tacos and the beef bistec a lo pobre which easily brings us up to a 30 star review. The tacos has a perfect balance of Oaxaca cheese and tender meat with a beautiful flavor and plenty of onion and cilantro and the perfect dipping broth to kick the flavor to the best birria tacos I've ever had. And the bistec a lo pobre with a side of fried plantains? Quoted directly from my husband, "I've never seen you have a slow blink because you've like a food this much." The plantains had such a beautiful flavor (that's the 3rd and probably not the last use of the word beautiful I've used in this review), the meat in and of itself was perfectly cooked and beautifully (see?) flavorful. I could have eaten that all alone but a big bite with the egg, plantains, meat and rice (which again, somehow could have been a perfect meal all on it's own. I can't imagine how someone makes rice taste soooo good but they've done it) was almost an exact reenactment of the scene from Rattatouille when he eats that piece of cheese with a strawberry and the scene shows fireworks and swirls as he discovered a newfound love of the new flavor combo. You will almost never catch me wanting dessert at a restaurant but after what had been the best eating experience we've ever had we decided we had to stay a little bit longer, have some delicious chocolate cake and fried ice cream while we waited for our to-go order of empanadas to take home to enjoy later. The server was a very attentive lovely young woman who we sent to send our compliments to the owner (something we've never done) who was so kind to come over and chat with us for a minute. The restaurant was very calm, quiet and clean which is very refreshing for two people who are very tired of glaringly loud restaurants. The only noise we could hear between the two of us was laughter, joy and excitement over how good this food was. If you know the Lord you'll feel how blessed this food is....we walked into this restaurant after a deep heartfelt conversation about the sad things in our lives, shedding tears right outside in the car. From the moment we stepped in all the way up to writing this review 2 hours later we've experienced a joy like no other meal has ever brought us before. The beef and cheese filling was very mild tasting, most of the flavor came from the outer part. The Lomo saltado was very clean tasting and enjoyable. Lastly, we got fried ice cream with honey which was a 10/10! Ambience: The dining area was super clean. There was no music. The seats are pretty close to each other, initially we were the only ones there but about 5 more parties came in and it was pretty tight but not uncomfortable at all. You get to see the bustling around the kitchen and front serving area, however, there is a wall that semi-separates the sitting area from the pick up counter adjacent to the serving area so you get to skip out on the in and out.
