My husband got word that this place had the best pie in town and this place instantly became a must visit! We walked to this spot from our hotel in Atlantic City, but let's just say after walking quite a bit, we made it and it was everything they said it would be in more! The place is really really small, it's not the cleanest upon sight, but they have a really good assembly line of getting the food prepped, cooked and out, and the quality is amazing! The gentleman that helped me was able to answer my questions and help me select what I wanted as well as take care of my husband getting his pizza. The neighborhood is a little more urban, but safe. Now I am from Baltimore so maybe that's why I felt safe. There are a few street stragglers out front of establishment but no one messes with you or even says anything to you. The "hood pizza shop" sums this spot up. I came here for a late night bite since it was open and all the food shops near the boardwalk were closed. Upon turning the corner to the location I immediately saw people hanging out on the corner and promptly recognized that I have entered the ghetto. Since the atmosphere is what stood out the most to me, I'll warn you with my experience. When I was inside looking at the menu, a seemingly homeless person entered and began ranting about ordering something for pickup, then asking to order something, then continued on with nonsensical blabbering before leaving empty handed. Soon after, another very ghetto guy comes in with friends and loudly rants on and on for a good 15 minutes about absolutely nothing, like he just came there for food and attention. All he achieved was being obnoxious and annoying. He proceeded to drink a staff member's cup of coffee before stealing a bottle of water while waiting for his friend's order. Shortly after leaving with the stolen goods he returned to pay for it since he "didn't have change." Even his friends were asking him to relax. Yeah he ended up getting kicked out. All the while another ghetto dude was staring at my girl up and down, and nodding like he planned to do something mischievous. Outside of the common hood personas that I came across here, this shop is your run of the mill pizza spot that you would come across in any urban hood. The food is ok and relatively cheap given the area. The sausage ziti was ok. The garlic bread which was not flavorful. The onion rings were huge and also just ok. Oh and they forgot to add my side of Italian bread even after I asked and the clerk insisted he " wouldn't forget anything." Overall, in the 25 minutes I had to wait for my order, I was bombarded with idiocy. This was possibly the longest 25 minutes of my life. So my advice to you is to order for delivery and don't have high expectations of the food quality. It's decent eats for good prices. If you decide to visit, don't make eye contact with anyone, brace yourself for a strong dose of ghetto vibes, and make sure your ride share is waiting out in front to make a quick exit. Not bad pizza! I ordered one late at night when I was sleepless and had that East Coast pizza craving. It scratched that itch and was more than enough to have leftovers from. I got a ham, mushroom and black olive pizza. The mushrooms were canned but the sauce, cheese, and crust were all good to go so I couldn't complain. The olives and ham struck a good balance. It was a huge slice of pizza and it was a good slice of pizza! It reminded me of Lorenzo's in Philly without the wait and the attitude associated with the whole Philly vibe. Chelsea's is a really laid back spot with happy employees and one of the largest slices in AC! I was told about this place from my barber "Pop" at the barbershop directly across the street! He said it was the place to go and he was right!!! A slice will put you back around $4 now. It use to be 1.75 then 2.50 and with the rising cost of pizza cheese and dough and inflation being what it should be in a growing economy it's now a whopping $4. I bought two and to put it into perspective little Caesar's whole pizza cost $5 and can feed 5 people. Overall it was a good experience. Found this place on Yelp while looking for a good pizza delivery place in the Atlantic City area. They delivered to the Borgata, but you'll have to go down to the main lobby to pick it up, seeing as the Borgata will not let anyone up to the hotel towers without a room key. The crust was on the thin side, but still doughy - perfect! Fresh toppings and good amount of cheese. Not too greasy, but still super tasty. Their topping choices are limited to your basic fixings, but they're just exaggerated in what they do. They have a small and a large sizes. The small dwarfs its competition, and the large is a caricature of any other pizza. The cheese is always so fresh and the chemistry it has with the sauce and dough is uncanny. The customer service is far from professional, however. If you're looking for fine dining with a smile, you should go elsewhere. You will find the city's vagrants on your side of the counter. Decided to try Chelsea's after reading reviews and it lived up to expectations. Got a large pepperoni and a 2 Liter of Pepsi. Total was $22.11 because of $2 fuel charge. Pizza was a little greasy but most pizzas made this way with pepperoni are greasy, I just use a napkin to soak up extra but overall it tasted great!! This place is located right in the heart of the casino resort town on Atlantic Avenue down the street from Ballys Casino and they're open till 2am weekdays and 3am weekends for all you late night gamblers and club goers! And while the price is kind of high for the size of the XL pie it's the size of the slice that will blow your mouth away! Since 1987 they've been family owned and operated which deserves a lot more love and credit since that's over 30 years of dedication to a city that's had its ups and downs within the last decade.
