Came back to get an Italian cold cut sub. White House Subs has been a mainstay in AC for over 60 years. They are well known and upon entering you can clear tell by the walls of pictures with famous figures in sports, entertainment, and television lining the walls near the booths. They also have limited counter searing at the front. They have a menu of subs only (no fries are served only bagged chips and soda). We opted, on this trip, to get the foot long Italian cold cut sub with light mayo, oil, hot peppers, lettuce, and tomatoe. You have to go to the back of the store to place your order with one of the cooks at the counter there. They will give you a number and once your number is called, you pick up your order and pay for it at the front register. The booth seating is for customers that are eating in store. Our Italian sub was loaded with a variety of meats and cheese. It's cut in half, but you can cut that in half and you really can feed four people and a cheesesteak sub with sautéed onions, lettuce, tomato, light mayo, and hots. The rolls are fresh and sturdy to hold up to the meats, cheese and topping inside (fact: the rolls are made from Formica deli across the street!). The meats and cheeses were fresh in the Italian cold cut and the meat in the cheesesteak was ample with a great taste. All in all, a great spot to grab a sub to go or enjoy in the store.

Made my pilgrimage to White House Subs the original in Ducktown on my trip to AC. I sat at the counter marveling over how truly basic but how absurdly delicious and satisfying the"Special" sub is. I've longed for this sub and the cheesesteak sub I had the day before for over a year. Nothing like it in the Tampa Bay Area I was truly rewarded for my patience.

Everything I wanted it to be. I've been to AC about a 1/2 dozen times. This place has always been on my radar. I should have stopped on my first time here! Walk back in time to a place around almost 80 years. Greeted a the door with a warm Jersey welcome. Sit where you like and they will wait in you. Subs and other sandwich treats, no sides but Lays chips. No frills ALL flavor. We tried a 1/2 sub as a sausage sub. Both covered in sauce and with provolone. Served on two paper plates. Sodas are big and cheap to wash it all down. I'm coming back to work through the menu! Meatballs highly recommended!

My wife and I tried this Deli while on vacation and it was great. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are super friendly. The subs are massive! A half is bigger than a foot long. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Heads up parking on the street is bad but there's a cheap parking garage across the street that is very safe.

Came here after lunch plans elsewhere fell through; they were renovating and closed. So we stepped next door into the White House. Two bites in and we both decided we were happy the other place was closed. The bread was amazing. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, and the sauce was outstanding. The sandwich was so good I didn't even get upset when I spilled a little sauce on my shirt. We both got the half-sandwich and when they sat it on the table I was blown away. Their half is anyone else's full. Seriously, the sandwiches are huge. We were only in AC to say we've been to New Jersey, so finding such a great local lunch spot was just what we wanted. The service was friendly and they genuinely seemed happy to meet everyone who came in to grab some food. The wall of celebrity photos speak to the notoriety of the White House, and the quality of the food and the service speaks to why celebrities go out of their way to eat there.

Place is a Atlantic City staple, it's a must try best sandwhich in Atlantic City. First off the quality of cold cuts are really good, the tomatoes lettuce is super fresh and the bread is amazing. The cherry pepper relish is out of this world also gives great flavor to the sandwich. Now the pricing a half is only $10, which will definitely feed 2 people, don't make the mistake of getting a large unless your extremely hungry or your with 3-4 people, its huge. Be prepared to wait if you go anywhere from 11:30-1:00 as it's really busy. There is limited seating inside so it's best to grab and go. Definitely a good place to check out if you like sandwiches. Parking is hard to find as it's only street parking near by.

Great spot that has amazing Subs !!! By far the best we have had yet and could not believe the quantity of Sub you get for the price. We were shocked when the young lady brought out our 1/2 Sub, it was the size of a full Sub anywhere else. The flavor was spot on and both Subs were devoured, glad we did two 1/2'"s or we would not have made it to the Concert we were in town for. Old School Vibe with two super friendly & helpful young ladies at the Counter. We loved the decor and how welcoming everyone was during our visit. Definitely a must stop when in Atlantic City.

Such an iconic sandwich shop right down the street from the outlets in AC. Known for sandwiches, and sandwiches are all they do. You can get chips as a side but they don't do anything else. They just focus on their craft. When you walk in it has a very small classic diner feel. There is a counter with some stools and a row of booths on the other side. The wall on the side of the booths are lined with photos of celebrities and known locals who have died at White House Subs. It is fun looking at all the pictures. Some of them go way way back. When we walked in we were pleasantly greeted and asked if we were dining in or getting take out. We said we are dining and and was told to grab an open booth. There was one left! We were promptly greeted by our server. We knew we wanted to get a cheesesteak. We got a half and mixed the American and provolone and no onions. The half was a perfect size for us. It came out quick. It was just the right amount of meat. Sometimes you get almost too much meat at some places and quantity does not always equal quality. The meat is not greasy but not dry ... has great flavor and was not overpowered by the cheese. The rolls are soft but hold up well to a cheesesteak. It was the perfect amount and didn't feel like we ate too much afterwards. Always a staple when we go to AC.

This place is a local staple that's been around for years. While it's primarily a takeout spot, the inside was packed when I stopped by--always a good sign! They've got about eight booths inside along with a counter for extra seating, if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. There's also a dedicated takeout counter right by the door, which makes pickup super convenient. I tried the cheesesteak--while it's not the very best I've ever had, it was fresh, hearty, and massive for the price. The value here is hard to beat: generous portions, solid quality, and prices that make you do a double take. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

During my recent visit to Atlantic City, after strolling along the famed boardwalk, rather than eat at one of the overpriced restaurants, we opted to step inside the air conditioned Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and dine at legendary White House Subs. This location is a bit tricky to find. Take the escalators upstairs and follow the signs to the food court. Once you walk up to the small-ish storefront, take a few minutes to peruse the expansive menu. The folks I was with, recommended to order the White House Special - which is their regular Italian sub but with extra Salami, provolone cheese, ham, and capicola. I inquired whether the "half" order would be sufficient since there were several of us, and we'd be getting a few different subs. "Trust me, the 1/2 size is plenty," I was assured. And when I took the sub out of the bag, I was really surprised how ginormous the sandwich was. Plentiful cuts of Italian coldcuts, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce were stuffed inside fresh bread supplied by AC's local Formica's Bakery. Pro Tip: Be sure to ask for the oil, red wine vinegar, and the "spicy Italian sauce." Honestly, the half size could feed three people if it was cut into thirds. Each bite I could taste the different meats and the nice crunch from the veggies. And the Italian dressings provided some brightness and acidity. And for only a bit over $14, this is a great deal. There are a few tables in front of the store; but if the tables are full, there is additional seating next door at the pizza place. Not much to add about a business that's been around since 1946 except to say, when you've been in operation THAT long...you must be doing something right!

This is exactly what a neighborhood deli should be. No frills, just incredible food and fast service. Their italian sub truly tastes like a true Jersey sub and the side of sweet pickles is the best I've had in years. It's a local gem that clearly cares about tradition. If you're looking for an authentic bite, this is the spot.

How do they put that unusual fold on the hoagie meat and cheese? I have thought long and hard about this and still cannot figure it out!!!

It happens to lay neatly with the indentation of their baked bread, I think it's an illusion. :)

When is the best time to go to avoid waiting in line?

I feel like no matter what there is always a wait.. but probably going during the week after noon!

Do you deliver?

No delivery.

How much are the full sub?

Between $15 - $18 depending on the sandwich

Do they have a kids menu?

Well I bought my 10 year old son a 1/2 hero and he worked on it for lunch and dinner

Do you accept credit cards?

My craving has been answered? I asked one of the salesman if I could have one and they said sure. I took just a half sub (which actually turned out to be a 1/4 sub). It was magical. Exactly what I was craving. There was a business card taped to the cover on the tray. "Spanky and Son" I googled it and it was directly across the street from the showroom on the little side street between The Cadillac dealership and the Chevrolet dealership. I walked over to this little hole in the wall place...told them how good the sub was that I just had and ordered one to take home with me. The very nice woman behind the counter told me how everything is made fresh and that they have been there for 45 years!!!! Absolutely one of the best subs I have ever had and I grew up in South Jersey so there are plenty of good sub shops to compare it to and I'm not talking about Subway and Wawa. lol. I absolutely recommend Spanky and Son if you want not just a good sub, but a phenomenal one.

They both were delicious. Next we ordered 6 of their Sloop Point, 6 of their Laughing Gulls along with an order of their Tuna Crudo - they all didn't disappoint! Then we rounded out our visit with their Eggplant sandwich and their Oyster Po Boy that featured fried Sweet Amalia's that we shared. Both were served on a crusty, sesame seeded Po Boy roll. Everything was fantastic which was complicated but their superb, friendly service - made you feel like family! The atmosphere was warm and the seating on the patio was enhanced with today's perfect weather! They were continually busy while we were there filling all of their tables. In addition to the awesome fare, they also offered local produce, hot sauces, jams, jellys and other cooking tools and cook books! I would give them 5 Stars in all categories. I however felt that the shucked oysters were rather small and with that overpriced at $ 22.00 for a half dozen. All of the other menu items that we enjoyed were a little pricey but definitely not unreasonable given the outstanding quality! I would definitely rate them as a great place to try - well worth the trip down! Give them a try!
