As far as she knows it was a total stranger. This monitor is worth $750.00. Not to mention that the resident who is 95 years old took a test on this monitor. This poor resident is beside herself with worry about this monitor missing. I contacted Kathy at the front desk and she replied that they are not responsible for their residence. She was very, very rude to the point of obnoxious on the phone. Her conduct is not someone who I would want representing my company. She should be fired for her conduct both in the handling of the oxygen monitor and her dealing with our company.

When I look at the reviews on this page, I would say these WERE accurate, however, they have new leadership and subsequently, the service has significantly declined. - Staff are leaving left and right. Outside of front desk staff, you'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of staff who have been there longer than 2 years. And honestly, the reason most of the residents haven't left is because it's just so hard of an adjustment moving elders. But many families and residents have shared their concerns in whispered conversations. - Leaks throughout the building but mostly on the second floor, which have resulted in mold and leaks to the first floor multipurpose room. - A whirlpool that is a selling point but has hardly, if ever worked. - Ignored emails or calls from concerned families. Or responses from leadership that are brash. - Someone else already mentioned in their review the front desk staff who don't acknowledge/speak to people -- that's guests and residents alike (why would onsite leadership be okay with that?). - All of this while prices have consistently been increasing. The final straw was Garden Plaza recently came under new ownership -- Life Care Centers of America. Name sounds familiar? Maybe because they were ground zero for elder deaths at the beginning of COVID. A five second Google search will tell you everything else you need to know. Here are the most notable legal actions against the company: 1. Medicare & TRICARE Fraud ($145 Million Settlement with Dept. of Justice where concerned employees were the initial whistleblowers) - Oct. 2016 2. Wage and Overtime Class Actions -- 2015-2020 3. Patient Abuse and Neglect Verdicts -- 2022 & 2024 4. Employment Discrimination -- 2024-2025 & active investigations in 2026 Garden Plaza is the Independent Living side and The Bridge at Garden Plaza is the Assisted Living side. Now most of these lawsuits are related to skilled nursing (aka assisted living or rehab), but the point still remains that this is who now OWNS Garden Plaza, coupled with lackluster onsite leadership.

She was always sitting with her head hanging down in an unnatural position in the wheelchair. I walked in once and thought she was dead due to the position they left her sitting in. They were too lazy to walk with her, because at 97 she was slow and just pushed her around in the chair all the time. Her health declined so much the year she spent here. She stopped walking, her legs were always swollen because they didn't help her into the bed or recliner to elevate them. The food was terrible. The staff was mean and snappy with her. They wouldn't let her pick her own clothes out or any of the small things that would matter to an elderly person in nursing care. Since, she has left this place she has already improved. I was pleased to walk in on her sitting comfortably on a recliner with her legs much less swollen in her new facility. These people have no business working with the elderly.

Simple things like daily hygiene, making sure they have enough water, and proper assistance with bathroom needs are not being met. Their nurses and PT staff seemingly do the bare minimum. If there is any issue, they simply want to send your loved one to the hospital and not deal with care in house. My family cannot consistently check in on them daily, and we are often worried if basic care is being performed when we cannot visit. Do NOT consider this facility if you have family members who are not still fully independent. After all of our issues, it is clear this place is run like a business, not like a place where your family members can be cared for.
