Not a secure community. Has a gate which is just a glorified security system because everyone has the code. They will force you to pay for internet which they give you 1 option to choose from and there is no way out of it. You better use their terrible Xfinity package or else! Maintenance is will try to mansplane an issue to you and still not fix it correctly despite you telling them the known issue. Guess I'll just hire someone to actually fix the issues in this outdated apartment complex with many serious issues starting at NO insulation that will hike your electric bill to double the price. Lastly, the buildings are going to be torn down so don't bother looking at this place because they won't even notify you of this prior to move in. They actually won't tell you much of anything other than make sure your door is locked. The apartments are highly outdated with several issues like plumbing, cracks through the whole entire wall, old appliances and terrible insulation. Such a bummer because the apartments are a great size and located in the heart of Redmond. read more

I moved in to Chelsea square about a month ago. Yvette was super helpful with answering questions and making the move in process to go smoothly. She even came the same day of moving to my apartment when she found a gate fob for me earlier than expected. I love the apartment. The living room is a little small but otherwise the apartment is great. It was a breath of fresh air after moving from previous moldy and poorly taken care of apartment. There has only been one issue with maintenance but Yvette was quick to figure out the issue and resolve it. The only downfall I would say is it is super hard to figure out how to talk to an actual live person when trying to lease an apartment. But once you do they are super responsive. If you are trying to lease and want to talk to a live person, the main office is down the block at Veloce apartments. read more

Lived here for over 2 years and loved everything, the maintenance, the location the management was awesome, layout of the apartments and a nice quiet neighborhood right next to the transit center. It was so convenient for my now husband and myself to catch a quick ride on the bus into Seattle for work then basically dropped off at our front door coming home on the bus! But what was a nice, safe place to live it turned out to be a bike and car theft ring and a drug addict prostitute and ring leader's haven. Her and her revolving door of men guests even had their stolen Jeep, stolen white van and 3 other stolen cars and this was just at one time, out in the parking lot here at the apartments. The apt hosting all this is right next to the pool and back door to the transit center where they bring stolen bikes through this women's back patio door. What is most convenient for this apt and their crimes is that the apt complex allows a huge bush covering any public or police eye on the comings and goings of this. At least cut the bush to try to eliminate the easiness of concealing it. This where I started having problems with the management because they did nothing about it. Then a few of us that live in the complex started getting our cars broken into, bikes stolen, I and my neighbor found 2 needles and a broken glass pipe outside by the mailboxes which keep getting broken into btw since this person moved in to the apt right next to the mail boxes. Police have been here multiple times yet besides some of the stolen vehicles moved out the rest of the chaos, hidden balcony stolen bike entry, multiple men in and out of this persons house and theft continues so my husband and I decided unfortunately we had to leave our happy home and community. Becareful not to rent out of A building and lock and alarm your vehicles and bikes. read more

Apply online and use code to open the door and gate. I moved in on August 20th, all the things inside are alright. The house facing direction and layout are carefully chosen and designed. Assistant Community Manager Bobby Bolanos handles things very clearly and efficiently. Packages are delivered in front of the door no matter how heavy and big they are. Neighbours are very friendly and no noises. Resident portal is so helpful that almost all the things associated with the apartment can be done here. Still, residents can sell and send out household things on it. The apartment is both quiet and safe. Still the rent price is very reasonable. It's convenient to access all the services in the Redmond downtown. This high quality apartment sees so many problems of living and solves them very well. read more

Lived here from ~Aug 2018 to ~Aug 2020, and the experience was extremely positive. Management has been the highlight here. They have an outstanding maintenance team, and any issue large or small, they will try to resolve quickly. They communicate often about things going on around the community, and everyone has been a joy to work with. The apartment was also in great condition when we signed with them, and the location also can't be beat. I am very happy here for a variety of reasons. I really appreciate Alvero and the other staff members. All staff I have encountered here are very nice and friendly and helpful. The garden style with at least some out door feel is better than nothing in a downtown apartment. It's better than feeling like my 7 year old and I live in a hotel. I love that there is a small pool we could use in the summer. My son loved it. It isn't used much by others so we almost had a private pool. :-) The workout room is modest, but if you are super serious about that sort of thing, there are tons of options very close by. I love that we are walking distance to virtually EVERYTHING we need. The transit center is close by as well. Because of the central location and being so close to transit, this is a great place to live if you by chance don't have a car. But if you do, you also will enjoy the covered, assigned parking. I like that the complex is not humongous, so it is easy to start to recognize faces of the residents. This makes it easier to spot someone who doesn't seem to live here for any safety concerns. But, speaking of safety, I feel very safe here. The complex is gated (not securely but it certainly sends a message). I have never had my car messed with, and I have never had strange knocks on my door from people selling things. The other residents tend to come and go and keep to themselves (typical behavior of folks in this area), but we might get a smile or wave here and there. Nothing unreasonable about that, and everyone seems quiet and respectful of others. I have not dealt with any loud noisy neighbors, no loud parties, no super weird smells, no drama in the middle of the night. The people here seem to be professional singles, young couples, a few empty nesters, and a few small families. The cons: As no honest review is perfect, I will add the rent is what it is for downtown Redmond. It's not a great deal, but it isn't unreasonable either. (Although parking fees are super reasonable compared to other places). It annoys this native midwesterner that the apartments do not have air conditioning, but again, not usual for this area. The parking lot layout is a different design that sometimes annoys me, but isn't a huge deal. Finally, it's be awesome to have a designated place for kids to play, but again, that is wishful thinking for this Urban setting. The good news is there are several parks within a five minute walk. There is some noise pollution here from the city: traffic, transit center, sirens, etc..... but that is what you get when you live downtown in any major city. read more

Took 1 star off because 1. during winter apartments get very cold and the whole complex is north-south faced, so not much opportunity of getting natural sunlight if you get lower level apartments. 2. We recommend this community with no doubt! The service the property manager and the team gives is outstanding. They really care that your living space is suitable and has the comfort you need. We lived there for a year, and we are leaving because we needed a bigger space (a house), not because we didn't want to be there anymore. There are only 3 reasons why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5: - Not pet friendly carpets: The community is pet friendly, however, it was hard for us to maintain the carpet with our 2 chihuahuas. They are pad trained, but accidents always happen and the entire apartment has carpets (except bathroom and kitchen). Hardwood floors would be a plus! - There is no ventilation in the bathroom (only the fan), and if you don't pay attention or open the windows in the apartment, there will be mold on the walls of the bathroom. - We moved from Puerto Rico, where they use concrete on constructions. No noise there! Here we have a different story, so expect hearing steps and minimum noises from your neighbors above you. We will definitely miss living in this community. Lived here in a 2-bed 2-bath for 1 year between 2017 and 2018. It was a great place to live, the interior was nice and clean, appliances were great, loved the walk-in closet and huge pantry. The office staff was always helpful and attentive. Parking was a little tight for two cars (one reserved and one non-reserved), but I don't think there was ever a time when we didn't get a spot for our second car, and we did have the option to reserve a second spot. Really great location, walkable to the entire downtown area of Redmond. Great private balcony. When we lived there, the maintenance guy's name was Chris, not sure if he's still there, but he was great -- best maintenance team from anywhere I've lived so far. We never had any issues with noise from our neighbors. The entire complex is smoke-free, which was nice. The reasons I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars are this: 1. Rent -- $2500/month was too high. Moving out of downtown saved us over $600/month for a comparable layout (not quite as nice appliances though). 2. Noise. It's downtown, so there's city noise. Our apartment was directly next to the transit center, so there was a fair amount of bus noise. You get used to it after a while but occasionally the loud engine sounds are grating. Same goes for the fire department across the road. Also, there is (or was) a back alley of sorts below our bedroom where people would loiter, drink, and sometimes fight. This was exceptionally annoying because they were loud and not particularly family friendly. Because this area was not owned by Chelsea Square, the office couldn't do anything about it, which I understand, but it's still worth mentioning. Probably not an issue for more than a few of the units in the complex. 3. On the third floor with a western facing window, the afternoons in the summer were blisteringly hot even with the blinds drawn. I recommend a portable AC unit if you're in a unit like that. However, this issue is practically mitigated by the absolutely stunning sunsets we could see, so it just depends. If you are comfortable paying the higher rent, and if you have a unit that's on the opposite side of the transit center then I absolutely recommend Chelsea Square. I miss living here to be honest, just wish it was cheaper and a bit quieter. read more

I lived in Chelsea Square from Mar 2009 to June 2011. Pros: . Excellent location. The apartment is in Redmond downtown, within walking distance to everything you need, including groceries, gym (Redmond Athletic Center), movie theater, hospitals, post office, library, city government, restaurants, shopping, and Redmond transit center. I got by for 2 years without a car. . Good management. The managers I have encountered are all quite nice and professional. Problems are usually fixed within a day or two. . Good floor plan, with balcony for most units. . Price. It is not cheap, but very reasonable compared to nearby apartments. Cons: . Noise. It can be a bit too noisy depending on which units you live. The apartment is right next to a main post office, a main bus transit center, hospitals, and a fire department. So try to choose a unit that is closer to he inside of the apartment area. I got a unit facing Fraser court, so it is pretty quiet. . Facility. There is no elevator, so you need to think ahead if you have mobility issues or need to carry heavy objects upstairs. The apartment has a gym and a pool, but both are tiny. Fortunately, RAC (Redmond Athletic Center) is near by. read more

We enjoy living here. The apartment we have is really nice and feels like home. I think my biggest issues are that there is a mold problem in the master bathroom, possibly due to the size. We have mold forming on the ceilings and walls which I scrub down weekly so at least it's kept at bay. The fan runs while we take showers and after we are done for a good long while but it seems to be ineffective. Otherwise, the apartment itself is great. Apartment staff is fine. I love Roger, the maintenance man. I haven't seen him in awhile so I hope he's still here. Alvaro has always been helpful to us and we appreciate that. The neighborhood itself is my favorite as it's walking distance to pretty much everything and right next to the transit center. Our neighbors have been alright as well. We've had a few noise issues in the past from downstairs but the last several months have been just fine so we have no complaints there. Overall I would recommend Chelsea Square. Keep in mind that these are older units so it does get cold in the winter even with heat and hot in the summer as the seals around the doors are rather old/drafty. We just put a draft stopper or a towel on the floor blocking the gaps and it's been fine. read more

This apartment community is great. The apartments are lovely -- high ceilings, big windows, walk-in closets, and the staff is friendly and really professional. Neighbors are generally quiet (at least, I can't hear them!) and everyone kinda keeps to themselves, but not in a bad way. I think a lot of microsofties live here. I like that the complex is small, it really contributes to teh apartments feeling like a home. I do have issue with the dog poop, because some people don't pick up the mess, but it's gotten better over the years when the complex noticed the issue and put in "dog poop bag stations" to make it easier on folks to clean up after their pet. And I guess if you don't have a dog, you'd never really need to walk in the grassy areas. But good on the staff to see a problem and fix it. IT would be nice if the fitness center had mroe options, but you make due and it's ok. And rent is expensive, I think, but every year when my lease is up, I look around for a new place and can't find anything else nearly as awesome as this one. So I stay:) Great location, great staff, and even though it is pricey, many nearby apartments charge about the same but what you get is much less! read more

I rented this apartment since I really liked the convenient location near Redmond TC. The apartment complex is quite old. The condition of the apartments are reasonable. I lived there for just over a year. They have a gym which has really old treadmills etc. The maintenance was somewhat annoying for me. If I file a report online for maintenance, somebody will come within 24 hours. But sometimes they will take care of the problem and sometimes they won't. There was a water leak in bathroom for which I filed a maintenance request. They came and saw it but did not fix it. I made another report some time later. At that time, they fixed it. There were other instances like this during my stay. After a year, they jacked up the rent. The problem is that near RTC there are only few apartment complexes. Both Chelsea Square and Veloce are owned byt Equity Residential. So, they have a monopoly in that area and can use it to control price as much as they want. But the worst experience I had when I moved out . There was a problem with carpet which I noted in my move-in inspection checklist. I also requested maintenance to take care of it. They did not do it. But after I moved out, they took a picture of that and put this picture as evidence of damage!! I then realized that it was a mistake by me that I decided to live there. read more

I recently moved away from Redmond due to work. One of the things that made me saddest about this fact is that I had to leave Chelsea Square-- it probably sounds weird, but that is how great of a place it was to live. The management (both the on-site managers, and Equity Residential as a company) is professional and wonderful, and the maintenance staff is incredibly nice. For the entire time my roommate and I lived there, we actually only had a single maintenance problem, and it was dealt with unbelievably quickly. Unlike at many apartment complexes, the maintenance staff rarely enters your unit for inspections, etc.-- but when they do (such as when they came to install new carbon monoxide detectors or to do a yearly fireplace inspection) they give you tons of advance notice and never leave a mess. The apartments themselves have nice appliances, great new kitchens, and are a very good deal price-wise for this area. If you're living in Redmond and don't want to have a car (or just don't want to have to drive everywhere), it doesn't get much better than this in terms of location. I was going to buy a car, but quickly realized there was absolutely zero reason to do so; there are 3 grocery stores (and multiple drugstores, doctor's offices, dentists, vets, coffee shops, and restaurants) within a 10 minute walk, and if you work at the main Microsoft campus, Studios, Nintendo, or downtown, you're about 5 seconds away from your bus. Yet due to the setup of the community, it's still very peaceful and quiet in there; we left our windows open all summer and were never bothered by noise. As for your neighbors: the vast majority of residents are quiet software industry people and their spouses, which makes for a nice and calm community. read more

So far we have enjoyed living at Chelsea square. Very cozy and charming community. Quiet neighbors and hardly no disturbance. Location is great, a walk away from everything. As far as apartment and amenities, they're fine. You can't go wrong with the Cherry red kitchen cabinets and upgraded Whirlpool appliances. We love our stove top and all stainless steel look. I've been associated with Equity properties since 2014 and lived in Chelsea square for 1 year and its a very nice community. The onsite management team, especially Alvaro and Pamela are awesome. They are super fast, kind and very very helpful.The neighborhood is very lively and you can get everything within walking distance. The only reason we moved out in one year was because of the rent which was increased by almost $200 during my lease renewal !! But we have never faced any issues within the community or the management. Overall, I would highly recommend living in this community. read more

We lived in Chalsea Square apartments for a year. Pros: 1- Location 2- Maintenance. Roger was prompt and fix the problems pretty quickly. 3- Apartment was clean and good like the most properties in Redmond. However, appliances 4- I don't agree with noisiness due to transit center. This is Redmond. How noisy it could be? 5- There was a small onsite gym but only with few equipments. It is better than nothing. Cons: 1- We moved in last year and management increased our rent for the second year by 30% claiming that rental market was currently strong in Redmond. 2- Average monthly $85 water/garbage/sewer etc. 3- Heat insulation was very very bad; especially in main dining area and kitchen. Expect to pay at least monthly $150 electricity (our apt was 2+1) for decent temperature for 6 months in a year. Note that we lived in East Coast for 6 years before we moved to Redmond and we are used to much colder weather. If you are kind of person who needs warmer apartments, expect to pay more. 4- It is a gated community but password is common for everyone. Even the delivery folks know the password. 5- This property is one of the oldest in Redmond downtown. There are much newer properties in Redmond with similar price and floor-to-ceiling windows. 6- Homeless people hanging around the transit center 7- We cleaned the apartment for a day before moving-out. We persuaded them to waive $95 cleaning fee. However, they charged $65 carpet cleaning fee even if we washed the carpet with professional carpet cleaner. Renting Tips: 1- Stay away from profit-driven companies such as Equity Residential at all costs. All they care about is the profit. They really don't care how painful for you to find a new property and move out every year. We just moved from NYC last year and it was hectic and now we have to move again. Although my impression was generally positive until recently, I won't rent any Equity property and I won't recommend to any of my friends. 2- Avoid to rent lower floors as they are all dark due to lousy weather. Windows are average size but it is still not enough. We lived in the 2nd floor and it was still dark for most areas of the unit. 3- Yes, apartment was OK but it is definitely not worth $2000 + $85 for 2+1 unit. Also, it is pretty risky for the subsequent years. 4- When moving out, try to clean the apartment for saving $95 but don't bother for the carpet. They will charge $65 anyway unless you hire professional carpet cleaners and show the receipt as a proof. read more

We have really liked living here. We love Roger, you can't find a better maintenance man anywhere. The on-site managers are very helpful too. Our little apartment is super cute and a great price for downtown Redmond! You cannot beat the location! We haven't had any maintenance problems, but Roger frequently asks if everything is going well if he sees you in the parking lot - so I feel confident that he would be right there if we needed it. I don't feel that it is any noisier than any other apartment in downtown. There are noisy vehicles that occasionally pass, but that would be a problem anywhere downtown. We love being so close to the transit center, Trader Joes, and it is an easy walk to the river trail. read more

We live at Chelsea Square since our arrival in the United States (about 10 months now). We have an overall good experience today I want to clarify few things for people that think about coming leaving in these apartments. First of all, let's start with the management. The front-desk are very available, fast if something is wrong and very kind. The repair man is also very gentle, work fast, no problem on that side. The main commodities are low. The pool is very small, only about 5 people can be in without being uncomfortable. About 6 chairs are available to rest on the sun. The positive is that it is not really used so not too bad. Still, I think this is very small for a complex of more than 50 apartments. No spa, no inside pool, no jacuzzi, a small room with a single TV is available, but it is the size of my living room, so for 50 apartments is way to small. Same for the gym which contains 2 running station, 2 DB (up to 50 lbs) and 1 multi-exercise machine. Overall, the front office is not convenient at all, we went there 2 times in 10 months. The apartment is nice but mostly located north-south which mean that no morning light, neither afternoon light come in any windows. However, the ceiling is very high which make the light enter more easily. It is really not well isolated. During winter, you can feel the cold at about 1 foot from every window/door. The weather is not so bad at Redmond so, it is not a big deal, I guess. The apartment is nice, we are on the third floor so we have more light but still very limited. The bathroom is huge, 2 sinks which are nice. The kitchen has a lot of counters and the appliances are not very old. Even at the third floor, we hear a lot of noise. Mostly because sound from the drive way echo since it is a inner parking between apartments. Also, a lot of noise come from the stairs. The structure is in wood and it echo a lot. We also can hear our second floor neighbour snore. He also came once to tell us to watch out if we exercise because it does a lot of sound... to be honest, my wife and I does not have kids, neither do anything else than watching TV so you can imagine how not well sound isolated are the apartment. For a 2 bedrooms, we pay around 1850$. I got say that they usually increase the cost between 100 to 200$ per year, which is a lot of money. We will see in few months. Do not forget that you need to add a cost for the sewage and water that is about 100$ more and about 100$ more for electricity. On the other side, the main advantage of that apartment is that we are next to the bus station. It takes us between 30 seconds to 1 minute to take the bus. It also take only about 7 minutes walk to go do the grocery and go to the gym. So, if we do not have a car, this is a cost that is worth it. If you have a car, I suggest that you go a little farther and pay less or have more for the price. Last thing to take in consideration is that the apartment is very close to the fire station which seem to be really active. Every single day we hear loud siren from trucks. Since we are near of the transit station, we also hear a some teenagers and disable people yelling once in a while later in the evening which can be quite irritating. read more
