    The Meyden

The Meyden has positives. The location is attractive, the property presents well visually, and some units offer beautiful views. Unfortunately, my actual living experience was deeply disappointing. A significant issue surfaced immediately after move-in involving my AC system and drain line. The problem required ongoing remediation efforts and frequent maintenance access throughout my tenancy. During certain periods, maintenance presence became a near-daily reality, and visit timing often felt inconsistent enough that I rarely knew when someone might arrive. During this process, I experienced multiple occasions where maintenance personnel were inside my apartment before I realized they had arrived. On one occasion, I awoke from a nap to find maintenance personnel in my unit. On another, I had just exited the shower and discovered maintenance personnel already present. Regardless of procedures surrounding access, the unpredictability and frequency of entry significantly affected my sense of privacy and comfort in my own home. I also experienced recurring drain/water odors, repeated notices, inspections, maintenance scheduling, and a general feeling of continual interruption rather than residential calm. Noise was another major factor in my experience. Environmental noise, surrounding activity, and sound transmission between units were all noticeable. Footsteps, pacing, dropped items, and neighboring activity were often clearly audible. One particularly difficult issue involved my piano. My piano was a major priority during my housing search, and I disclosed during touring, leasing, and move-in that I am a longtime pianist who plays frequently. At every stage, I was informed this would not be an issue provided I remained outside quiet hours. I followed those expectations. Despite this, I received repeated complaint communications regarding my playing. After discussing the matter directly, I learned the complaints originated from a single neighboring resident. I verified that I was not playing during quiet hours and obtained written confirmation that piano playing was permitted. Despite this, the situation escalated into direct confrontation from the neighbor before the matter was ultimately addressed. My move-out and lease closeout experiences were also difficult. After providing notice, coordinating logistics, and reserving an elevator, my midweek move-out during normal business hours changed unexpectedly due to an off-site staff meeting, requiring me to personally manage portions of the move-out process that I had not anticipated handling. Additionally, a prior rent accommodation related to the initial AC issue was effectively reversed during the early lease termination settlement, substantially increasing the financial burden of ending the lease. Attempts to negotiate a more flexible resolution were unsuccessful. Every renter will prioritize different things. Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective residents to carefully consider maintenance/access expectations, building noise sensitivity, operational processes, and lease flexibility when determining fit. I would not choose to live here again.

They are always ready to help you and solve your problem. I can feel they really care about your problems and want to make your stay comfortable and happy. I had a package showed delivered but actually the mail man did not delivered to my door or in the locker. Manager MT helped me, we looked every possible corner. Although we failed to find it, he suggests me to send him the proof of delivery and he will help me asking the mailman where the package is. I really appreciate his help for me, which makes me feel much better from the frustrations of finding a missing mail. Besides, their building is concrete so that it is always quiet. They have air conditioning and they have great places for BBQ, game, party. And they have a gym. I like their decorations in the lobby and hallways. They have a lot of lightning in the room so you may not need to buy several floor lamps. I love their kitchen island, which save me buying a dining table. There are 7-11 and CVS next to the Meyden; and a 5 mins walk to Safeway. So it is convenient! Also, the downtown park are great for walker, jogger, dogs; the beach park has a stunning view all season, and super fun water sport time in the summer. The Bellevue square could be a great shopping place. And the Bellevue art museum is about 10 mins walking. I love living here and I recommend to live at the Meyden.

When I moved out, they claimed several hours of sanding work required for repainting and were evasive about providing evidence that it actually took so long. Every lease renewal saw a giant jump in rates (9.9% one year), which we negotiated back down to sane levels. They use algorithmic pricing designed to worsen the housing crisis while maximizing their profits. They also recently decided to stop offering affordable housing units under the MFTE program. Building was frequently under repair, including elevators being out of service for months, which was incredibly difficult when my partner was recovering from knee surgery. The units, which are now finally undergoing renovation, were poorly lit with low quality fixtures like plastic track lights, vinyl flooring, and a prison shower head. The original office staff were quite unhelpful and antagonistic, prioritizing nagging residents about hallway door decorations (while simultaneously awarding prizes for holiday decorations??). This has improved with almost complete turnover in staffing. Maintenance staff have always been very responsive and helpful. Regarding Capitol Hill itself, the value of the neighborhood has really declined. If you want to pay $4,000/mo to live in walking distance of 15 boba tea shops and national fried chicken chains while ignoring the human misery all around you, go for it I guess.

It's been great experience with an amazing view but I need to be a bit closer to work and within walking distance of the rest of it. The amenities are all nice, but it's the other stuff that is more compelling. The retail space on the ground floor has the vet my elderly dog sees, B of A, and a post office. Great hair place across the street and groceries either to the north or south. The property seems to be in the middle of some upgrades to package handling and building access which sounded great. The view from the rooftop is wonderful. Donny was so kind and helpful. I appreciated the conversation to understand my needs, ask thoughtful questions, and explain options available.

Yep, that's the list. Enjoy that sweet, cold air while everything else falls apart. Restaurants nearby, which is great since you'll be spending a lot of time wandering around looking for your DoorDash order. The bad: Garage horror story: Found a shirt with what looked like human feces behind my car days after moving in. Management's reaction? Shrugged it off and blamed a dog that doesn't even live here. A+ security! Apartment design straight from a startup office: Kitchen has a cubicle wall instead of an island. Closets are just a rod. No balcony screen, but sure--pets allowed! What could go wrong? AC vents? Smell like they haven't been cleaned since the building was constructed. Amazon locker roulette: Lockers are down by the dumpster. Classy. Don't be surprised if your package ends up with a neighbor--or in another building entirely. Access system overkill: You'll need three separate systems to live your daily life here. Butterfly app, SmartRent, and a fob--none of which work well together. Android users, prepare to be locked out. Food delivery scavenger hunt: No clear delivery instructions, and couriers can't navigate the Butterfly app. After 10+ times of searching for my food in random buildings or outside, I've accepted that my dinner now lives in the wild. Airbnb-palooza: Strangers coming and going 24/7, no background checks, and enough weed stench in the halls to hotbox the whole floor. Who needs safety or a sense of community, right? Bottom line: If you like cold air and chaos, this is your place. Otherwise, maybe wait for a management overhaul--or a miracle.
