We live here for 3,5 years. Everyone on the staff is amazing to say the least. Jolleen is very friendly and patient with us (foreigners that don't speak English perfectly), Laurie is ready to help and Avery even helped during a holiday. We are very happy here and everyone in the community is so gr Eat. To say that we don't have anything to complain is that if you are in the second floor facing 7-eleven you will smell weed a couple days a week. There is a bench there that's used for it. My wife and I lived at The Luke for a year. Their proposed renewal rate was a 40% increase from the existing rate. We were lucky enough to be able to purchase a house instead. The staff are very nice - they'll be friendly and helpful and cheerful as they do everything from pet-sitting (genuinely helpful, thanks Jolleen!) to describing why they're raising your rent 40% year over year and can't be flexible at all on that level of increase, nor will they let you out of your lease early if you find a new place before your lease is up. Have fun threading that needle! You, too, can enjoy loud people in the courtyard during the hot summer months because you have to keep your windows open since there's no air conditioning - and, as a bonus, the windows are crank-style, so you have to build your own adapter for the portable unit you'll have to bring. Want a unit large enough to cool your living room? Hope you like tripped circuit breakers! As an alternative, you can unplug your garbage disposal and run an extension cord across your apartment. (That was a genuine suggestion from the maintenance guy - and I sure as heck did it!) Don't worry, though - the leasing office does have AC, so you can beat the heat there while getting steamed about your 40% rent increase. Amenities abound here, from guest parking that requires you to have already given your guests a parking garage key to a package locker that's constantly overflowing yet charges a $25 setup fee. Don't miss out on the overwhelming air freshener stench in the hallways! They'll even come to clean the windows on the hottest week of the year, telling you that if you don't close them that they'll enter your apartment and close them for you! (They did back down on that one after everyone complained, to be fair.) Did I mention the courtesy call-dropping service? If you're on a phone call you don't want to be on, just try to exit the building. The call will drop every time! Perfect for those situations where you really just don't want to chat with your loved ones. And, as always - when you move out, somehow the report will say that the damages to your apartment are exactly equal to the security deposit they collected. Walking into The Luke, I knew I was home! Jolleen was very enthusiastic, professional, knowledgeable and assured me the transition would be smooth. I have had nothing but terrible experience coming from an Essex property and renting an apartment at Pinnacle Sonata and was not expecting to be treated so well at the Luke. Avery has showed confidence in knowing how to assist when Jolleen wasn't available. The communication between the staff really proves that Laurie, Dave and the whole crew truly care about being a part of making my move as easy as possible. When seeing current residents on the property, they all said amazing things about living in a Greystar property! I'm so glad that I moved in time for the ping pong table to arrive in the courtyard. There is no peace here. Whether it's the sounds or smells, your senses will be enamored. You can expect to hear the slamming of your neighbor's cupboards, a microwave beep through wall, each step from above, and constant slamming doors. The disruption is never ending. If you are unfortunate enough to face the courtyard your senses will be accosted regularly. Having a window open is torture here. Extreme cooking smells, laundry scents, weed smoke, and the community BBQ create a pungent potpourri wafting into your home. You can expect to hear loud parties from the clubhouse, tvs at full volume, and of course...a ping pong table. This is not luxury, it's expensive chaos. I'm relieved to have moved on. read more

We lived here for a year and didn't have any major problems. We had a unit that faced into the courtyard, which is pretty quiet. You can definitely hear people's voices in your apartment when people are in the courtyard (we could even here it from the 5th floor), but the courtyard isn't open late, so it ends up being quiet when you want to sleep. The location is pretty much as good as it gets for getting to public transit in Redmond, and the walk to "downtown" Redmond is pretty short. Since I never trust reviews that are only positive or negative, I'll note that there were a few minor issues that didn't bother us, but might bother other people. The first is that at least one elevator was down pretty often. That would have been fine if you could take the stairs, but for the first half of the time we were there, the stairwell was locked on the first floor, so you could only take the stairs down and not up. When they started giving residents keys to the stairs, they only gave our unit one set of keys, so only one of us could take the stairs. The second thing is that the hallways often smell like garbage. Some days, you could only smell it when you were next to the trash room, but some days it flooded the entire floor. The first floor doesn't get hit as badly as other floors because there's A/C in the lobby area, but the other floors don't have forced air being pushed into them so the entire floor can smell terrible. This would come and go; it would stink for days or weeks at a time, and then be fine for days or weeks, and then go back to stinking. This seemed a bit weird to us since it went on for the entire duration of our lease and it seems like the kind of thing that you wouldn't expect to linger for an entire year. Thankfully, even when the entire floor reeked, the smell didn't make it into our apartment, so it wasn't a big deal to us. Oh, also, there were some really loud dogs. We weren't next to a unit that had a loud dog, but there was one unit down the hall from us that had a dog that would bark loudly when we walked past the apartment. I hope you don't end up in a unit that's next to a place like that! read more

I lived at The Luke Apartments for 7 months from late of March 2020 to till the end of October 2020. I survived one covid stricken summer, working from home. It was not fun! Pros: 1. Leasing office members are courteous. They will be considerate when moving in and during your stay. They allowed me to ship my luggage prior to moving in-person and they were kind enough to keep them in my unit. 2. The maintenance workers are very prompt. Issues are seldom, but it will be solved instantly if any. 3. The location is near to grocery stores. 24 hours open seven eleven literally across the street. 4. 2 minutes walk to Redmond bus terminal. 3 miles far from Microsoft campus. Dozen of restaurants under 1-mile radius. 5. Convenient and secure lockers for your incoming parcels and mails. 6. My unit was next to the trash chute. Not even one day, I faced any issues regarding this- no smell, no spillage. Residents are very responsible. 7. Very secure neighborhood. Trustworthy neighbors. 8. Bathrooms are huge. But not the bathtubs. Laundry setup is inside the unit. 9. Everything inside and outside the apartment looks and works immaculate. If any issues, the maintenance will resolve it for you ASAP! 10. There's no averaging of the electricity and water usage costs. You pay for what you use. Love the transparency. Cons: 1. Apartment I lived in, have no windows. No ventilation. No fresh air. I lived on the first floor, corner unit with a den facing courtyard. 2. No AC unit. No convenience to setup an AC unit. No ceiling fan. Can't tolerate sleeping at home during summer! It won't cool down in the night. Moving from CA, I was told WA doesn't get hot during summer. Don't believe in the lies. For comparison- Redmond is 43 feet above the sea level, whereas Bellevue is 85 feet and Seattle is 175 feet. The lower altitude creates higher atmospheric pressure and sucks the warm current. When it was 97 degrees outside, the thermostat in my house read 89 degrees. Imagine working from home in this temperature! 3. Floor carpets felt like extremely bleached. Couldn't place bare feet without getting the skin coarse and dry for the whole time I lived here. 4. The apartments are very very very small. The bedroom can fit a queen size bed and no space to even stand. There's no kitchen counter. The bathroom is next to main door, not connected to the bedroom. 5. Feels like a sliding door put in the living room of a studio and renamed as 1BHK. 6. Other residents can be noisy, especially with respect to their TV volumes past 10 PM and/or very loud barking dogs and/or having a drunk party with their patio door open. If you are planning to get a courtyard facing unit, then all I can say is good luck. You gonna hear the updates of standup meetings from other residents in the mornings, even with your door closed. Lol 7. The ceilings are not sound proof. You can hear the foot steps, vacuum and TV sound very easily. Fortunately, my upstairs neighbors were active only during day time. 8. No convenience for visitor parking. You have to ask your guests to do street parking even for overnight stays. Things to consider: 1. I didn't get to use any of the amenities, not even for a day. Thanks to covid-19. Nonetheless, my rent was not decreased even after submitting a formal request since I moved here right after the lockdown started. I witnessed new residents moving in for rent cut in half on much bigger apartments in top floors. 2. You have to pay for the use of game lounge and mini theater. Again, I never got to experience them. 3. There's a $5 per month payment towards a 3rd party service provider contracted to prepare monthly statements of the utilities. Rent is already in the upper bounds, you'll still end up paying couple of hundred bucks on utilities per month. $20 per month towards garbage. Water, water heating, sewer, sewer capacity, vacant gas (don't know what this is) are 5 utilities for which you'll pay monthly. Parking separate. Pets separate. 4. Garage. I had no car. But heard from neighbors- it was congested for SUVs. 5. Xfinity and WaveG are your internet options. Setting up a VPN on your router is not allowed. 6. You hardly get one or two bars on you TMobile phone network. Xfinity has the best coverage here. 7. There is a 5-star review on Google from the member of leasing staff and in THAT review of ~9 sentences, she praises the staff in 4 of them. That's misleading. There's one latest review on Google which mentions "unlimited hot water". This makes me wonder if there are residents here not charged for utilities! 8. There are many US citizens living here, who are paying government subsided rent based on their income. For them, this feels like luxurious unit. Complete review is posted on Google. I was very fortunate to call The Luke as home for the past year. The location is right in downtown Redmond, with everything in walking distance (movie theater, grocery, public transit, mall, coffee shop, you name it!). The building and amenities are kept super clean and tidy and the dog wash station was great. Definitely recommend for those with dogs that shed a lot and don't want to clog up your bath tub. I lived alone with a small dog in their urban 1-bedroom apartment. The bedroom is fairly small, just enough to fit my full-size bed, but I didn't have any issues with it. The unit is definitely spacious enough to live alone, or to have guests over once in a while. All my maintenance requests were completed in timely manner -- thanks, Dave! The best part of living at The Luke is definitely the management team. They're the most pleasant and friendliest group of people I have ever met. They were extremely communicative from the first time I reached out to discuss possible apartments and throughout my entire lease. Very dog friendly, even though my pupper isn't the best with strangers. I wish I could have taken this management team to my new apartment, that's how nice and wonderful they are! So happy to do my first review on Yelp for The Luke. Over the last couple months I personally viewed 20+ apartments in Seattle/Eastside area to find the perfect home. Hands down, The Luke provided the most positive experience. From touring the facility, to keeping in touch via email, to signing the papers, Kaytlyn (manager), as well as the rest of the staff, have been so genuine and helpful through the entire process. I cannot give The Luke enough praise for being a welcoming and warm environment. Moving is quite an exhausting process but this team has really made a difference. The facility and units themselves are also beautiful. I love the layout of the studios here. Having just recently opened, the common areas are bright, fun, and ready for community activity. Location is wonderful. The complex sits just outside of downtown Redmond. Bellevue/Seattle are just a short drive away. There are quite a few breweries/wineries and places to eat nearby. Overall, I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a new home in the area! read more

This is the best apartment building I've lived in. The front desk has generous hours, signs for packages on residents' behalf, and responds to issues timely. They have been very helpful on numerous occasion and always work to find a positive resolution. The apartment itself is beautiful, designed efficiently and possessing well-insulated walls. Our unit has lots of windows allowing for plenty of sunlight to stream in. The location was a major draw. It is walking distance to the Redmond Town Center, several grocery stores, a transit hub, multiple book stores, several coffee shops, and more restaurants than I could have imagined. Do note that one side faces a 7-11, which isn't a problem (maybe an upside for some), but could be considered unsightly to some people. Just check where your unit is located if that's an issue for you. The main downside is small parking spaces in the garage, though that seems to be fairly typical for apartment buildings in the Greater Seattle Area. The small spaces can be frustrating to park in. It can also be difficult for guests or pick-ups/drop-offs as there are not a lot of great spots to stop around the building. However, there are a few guest spots in the garage and the park-n-ride is a block away, so guests can always park there easily in the evenings or on weekends. My husband and I toured five other buildings in the area before touring The Luke. We almost didn't visit The Luke due to the higher price per square foot. However, the layouts we viewed (and our apartment) use the space exceptionally well (much better than units in other buildings we had been considering), so the smaller square footage wasn't a problem. We signed a contract immediately after our tour, moved here in March, and are very happy with our decision. Highly recommended! read more

My personal experience has been very unpleasant. Be careful and be sure to check your tenant rights. When I initially tried to break the lease, the apartment told me and I quote (from email) "When you break a lease your deposit is no longer refundable. That is standard." After I told them my interpretation of the law which was that the "deposit was supposed to just cover damages to the apartment (like a list of what needed to be repaired)." they apologized and said I was correct. I think my deposit will be used appropriately now but stating originally as "a standard" makes me want to remind folks to know and read all your tenant rights. read more

I stayed in the luke in 2018. I don't understand the high rating on this appt complex, and it makes me question the legitimacy of a lot of the glowing reviews. It's not all bad, but my experience is that this place was extremely LOUD, which made it uncomfortable for me to live in, and I would not recommend it to anybody who is at all sensitive to noise. First, the positives: + Leasing office staff is extremely nice and professional + location is good + layout/fixtures in my unit were good + price in first year was reasonable for the area But the negatives are: - Complex is _extremely LOUD_. On the south side of the building (where I was), garbage and recycling trucks come _every morning_ at 6am, 7am. This work me up multiple times every morning. This is a large complex, so they have daily trash pickup. Sound isolation with neighbors is pretty poor as well. I'm sure the management may have made accommodations if I asked, but the other sides of the building are on busy streets, so I imagine they have noise issues as well (but don't know for sure). Basically: it doesn't matter how nice the place is if you can't sleep! - rent went up considerably after my initial lease is up. My rent would have gone up 50% unless I signed a 18 month lease (which I was obviously not willing to do given the noise and my life situation). Note that your first year had a number of 'rent discounts' which will go away in your second year, once they have you locked in! The staff claimed they were generous about the price of lease renewals, which I found really hard to take given the numbers. read more

We have lived at the Luke Apartments for several years. We have NEVER had a complaint about the service of the management team. There has been little turnover. They bend over backwards to make the residents comfortable. The apartments are well built. Soundproofing is outstanding. Maintenance service is top drawer. The landscaping is beautifully maintained. We don't want to move and are eager to renew our lease again. I would rate them a ten on a scale of one to five. read more

Bit spendy, but nice place. Very modern interiors, no AC which can be quite uncomfortable in summer...especially upper floors. Pet friendly. They have community events in the courtyard for residents in summer. Dog washing room, decent gym. Bike storage room is nice (but full). Normal parking spots are way too narrow. VERY difficult to open your door if parked next to anyone. Expect door dings. read more

Not Great. Expensive for what you get...and that doesn't include a lock on your balcony door. I share my balcony with a neighbor (whoever they are) and they can walk in at will and I can walk into their apartment anytime. There's a flimsy plexi partition but anyone can easily swing pass that. Feel safe? not so much. I spoke to management about it but they dismissed my concerns saying my balcony door has glass on it so anyone could just break the glass even if there was a lock so my concerns are just silly. Besides, they told me they passed Redmond building inspection so they are not obligated to do anything. It obviously was meant to save money, not safety. Parking stinks. The aisles are so narrow it's difficult for two cars to pass each other. The spaces are so shallow many cars protrude into the aisle because they don't fit and some spaces have a concrete column between the spaces. This forces some cars to not pull into the spaces all the way just so the door can be opened when entering and exiting the vehicles. It is so tight I have seen many people partially pull in or out of their spaces only to stop get out walk around their car and see if there is any way to complete their move without tapping another vehicle. When two cars approach each other at a corner of the aisle one often has to stop, back down and allow the other to make a turn before the other can pass. Oh, one more thing. Check where you have to haul your belongings into this building before you make your decision. You can't get a van into the garage so you are left on the street and have to cart your belongings down a steep ramp through the deep recesses of the nightmare garage. Nobody thinks about that, when you look at apartments. Slowly management has yielded to several requests for mirrors to be installed in the garage so people can see around blind turns. The garage gate remains open for several hours during the day but times are not posted. Nor does the gate have an electronic eye so approaching traffic may be impacted by the gate closing if you are not aware of the time of day. Garbage can pile up in the trash chute room. Not sure why tenants just don't dispose of this properly but management doesn't check on the status of floors everyday so it can really start to stink up the place. I'm amused at some of the miscellaneous trash scattered about the property. You know just stuff people drop along the way...a fork here, a wrapper there. It just stays there....for months. Obviously saving money on maintenance. After the first few weeks I moved it the building started to fill up and there began to be less and less hot water in the morning until they shut it down for a couple of days to what? Replace the undersized boiler? Probably initially installed an undersized boiler to save money. There are good things. It's in Redmond. And I kind of like Redmond. read more

This apartment complex is easily the best place I have ever lived in my entire life. The management is super friendly and approachable. The amenities are first class. Everything is top notch here. Plus, the location is perfect for a bike-commuter like myself. The transit center is a block away and almost everything else is either walkable or bikeable. Moved here about a year ago now and I'm sad I have to move out. This place is awesome, the location to downtown Redmond is perfect & I can't say enough good things about the staff here. Laurie, Joleen & Dave are the most professional and friendly people I've ever dealt with while renting. I stop into the office everyday with my dog because they show him so much love. I am never at a loss at things to talk about them with. The apartments are updated/modern and wonderful. The gym is perfect size with windows to view the outdoors. One of the best things here is the dog washing room. As a dog owner this is incredible to have so I can keep my dog nice and clean without clogging up my own shower drain! One downside is the second elevator keeps breaking but that's no ones fault. Other than that, I couldn't be happier here. read more

I lived at the Luke from 4/15 until 4/17 and I enjoyed the experience. The leasing office staff (Laurie and Jolleen) were professional, friendly, and cared about the property and it's residence. As some of the other reviews have mentioned, there seems to be some issues with the elevators, as one always appears to be out of service.
