We had a mini college reunion and chose Chelseas as a good travel midpoint for our group and because of the varied menu options. From arrival to departure, we were treated fantastically. Ana, our server, was super friendly and helpful. She even customized some of our food choices, and everyone enjoyed their selections. This was the absolutely worst dinner we have had in ages. The staff were friendly and nice but the food was terrible. I ordered a club soda and the lime wedge was covered in mold. We ordered wings onion soup, the chipotle pasta and a taco salad. We paid and left with 90% of the food on the table. The wings were as dry as a bone, the taco salad came with like a can of olives despite my partner requesting no olives at our order, french onion soup tasted of straight vinegar, and the pasta sauce smelled rancid. When I worked in Whitehouse Station back in the late 2000s, Chelsea's was part of our lunch rotation. When we were looking at buying a house in the area, we stopped by Chelsea's for a late lunch/early dinner. To me, the inside has a bit of an "olde tyme" pub feel. I had the California burger which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise. The staff was very friendly. I've passed by this restaurant/tavern thousands of times over the nearly two decades since I moved out here to Warren County, Hunterdon County and never realized that there has been this great restaurant nearby on US-22 all this time. The menu is amazing here and they don't mind customizing your favorite food like my chili with the diced red onions and sour cream. I liked everything so much that I decided to make this restaurant my choice for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. They offered a full array of gourmet menu foods for a special Thanksgiving meal until 5:00 PM including some of the biggest colossal jumbo shrimp I've ever eaten. The bartenders are all cool and provide excellent service and the ambience is classic Irish tavern with a chill looking little Bulldog as their mascot/restaurant logo. Worth a stop. This little restaurant is a sweet reminder of how things used to be. The atmosphere of the interior is cozy, and it holds some cool old beer advertisements and a neat old wooden bar! I was so looking forward to trying Chelsea's for their Wings. They claim on their sign out front they are award winning and the best wings in Hunterdon county. NOT EVEN CLOSE! This was my first time here and I noticed they were very short staffed. There was quite a few of us waiting in the hallway for someone to come out and seat us or take our names. We waited a good 15-20 minutes before the hostess came out. The restaurant had quite a few empty tables. Once seated, our server John was very pleasant. He took our drink order and our drinks were very good. We then put in an order for 2 French Onion Soups. The French Onion Soup was very good. It had lots of flavor and was piping hot the way I like it. We then put in our order for 10 Buffalo Wings Medium heat, and 2 orders of their Basket of Fried Chicken. Our Basket of Fried Chicken came out first. It too was very good and cooked correctly. We were halfway through our meal and I asked John our server where our wings were. He said he would go check on it. It took another 10 minutes to get the wings. My bf took a bite, then I took a bite. We both noticed that the wings were very dry, chewy and overcooked. The buffalo sauce was supposed to be medium hot and it tasted very watered down nothing close to what a buffalo wing should be. We were both so very disappointed and decided not to eat the wings or take them home. THEY WERE THAT BAD! We brought this to John our servers attention. His comment was "next time you come back we'll try and make the wings better."The wings were not even large, just average in size. Totally not worth it. He never offered to take it off our bill. I was in town for business and was looking for a local establishment and found Chelsea's. It looks like an older home instead of a restaurant and bar, which it is, but it was pretty cute. I went in and straight to the bar on the right side, so I didn't really get to see much of the inside, other than the host area. It sounded like there were some staff issues and that there may have only been two people working. There was a nice gentleman who was working the bar, as well as running some drinks to the other areas. There was a woman who apparently was doing the cooking. She was talking to some of the customers about it, which is how I learned that. Though I prefer not to hear about the internal issues of eating establishments, all things considered, they were working their butts of and it was still quite enjoyable! The food was good and came out in a timely manner. I ordered a panini that had Turkey, apples, Brie cheese and apricot jam. So yummy!! Even the coleslaw was good, if you like coleslaw. There was a couple that came in later and the guy seemed a little...brash. He asked the bartender to lower the lights because they were too bright. It sounded like the bartender was going to, but, luckily, he did not...I was reading a book, so I was very grateful for that. Hopefully this place can work out their staff issues, but if I lived in the area, I can definitely see myself being a regular. We were at the pub this evening and the bartender was very obviously disregarding our presence. We felt as though the parties accompanying us were being tended to with much more care and urgency. When we first arrived there was no host to seat us, therefore we took matters into our own hands and sat ourselves. Menus were never given and we had to personally request them. The staff at the pub made us feel like we were being a burden to them. When I presented my valid ID the bartender made off putting comments to me about my age. After ten minutes of my partner waiting for a glass of water we decided to leave the pub. Very poor hospitality. Would not recommend. 0/10. read more

We stopped by this nice roadside pub on our way back from wine tasting. Located right on RT 22 it makes for a easy in / out. Once inside they have a small bar area, a dinning room, and what looks like a covered deck area. We sat at the bar and took advantage of the football specials which are the same as happy hour specials (M-F 4-7). $2 yuengeling drafts, $6/12 wings among others $5 chilli fries. The beer was poured right to the rim, wings were good but not spicy, and the chili fries were also good. Definitely canned chili but still good. We were expecting more of an English pub atmosphere and menu, so we were a bit surprised not to see more of that. My husbands menu was splattered with food particles and the food server and bartender didn't communicate very well. The food server was mumbling under her breath and looking for what table ordered what food on every run out of the kitchen. Hopefully with a little bit of training and management this place could really be a great place to go. read more

Chelsea's serves some really good eats. Friendly staff. I had a dozen medium Buffalo wings and fries. My son had a meat lovers Pizza. A to go jerk chicken wrap and fries for my wife. The wings were delicious and crispy. They could have used about thirty seconds less time in the fryer. But they were really good. I'll try the hot next time. The fries were well done and delicious. My son's pizza was full of meat-sausage pepperoni etc. He loved it. My wife's wrap was excellent. Great spicy chicken. Avocado and mango. Very thoughtful. A quick note. The guy behind me ordered a dozen clams on the halfshell. They looked great, well presented and the guy eating them seemed quite pleased. Hope this place gains popularity. You can split the dozen into two sauces so I got two dozen and tried the honey mustard, jerk, medium buffalo, and orange spicy one, which was my favorite. The jerk is a dry rub, and the honey mustard was more smooth than pungent, so I'd recommend sticking with the buffalo or trying another sauce. You must go! I am not someone who writes reviews, ever. But today I stumbled upon a local spot that needs to be known state wide if not further. The exterior is very unassuming but as soon as you enter you are welcomed into a very warm place. And the decor is pretty much your standard pub style, but don't let that fool you. Oh my God the food is absolutely amazing. Do you want great appetizers? They got it. Do you want great wings? They have been awarded the best in the county which I think is a little too small time of a title for how great they are. They could easily win best in the state. Do you want great burgers? They got it. We sampled a ton of different food items from their menu, and not one thing disappointed us. We are huge fans now, and will definitely make the trip out because we're not from the area. I went for happy hour yesterday with some of the ladies and I enjoyed myself. The place itself is not the BEST looking inside but the drinks were tasty and for $3, you can't really beat that.
