Solid place - this is a 3.5 rating. Had a reservation for dinner for our party of four. Seated right away. outside patio is fun - we were seated in a booth inside. For food we got the Caesar salad, French onion soup, chicken sandwich, stir fried beef special, and mahi mahi tacos. While everything was fine, none of the food stood out. Excellent family owned restaurant. We always come in with my in laws and the owner is extremely kind and friendly. My kids love the wings and pretzels for apps. All of their entrees are delicious. Especially the farmers lasagna, ribs and steak dip sandwich. They also have a great drink and dessert selection. read more

I generally like this place. Every time I've gone, the server has been incredibly friendly and sweet and attentive. So that is huge right there. I only knock it down one star because I don't think all the food I've had has been stellar. One thing that IS stellar is the pulled pork nachos. Highly recommend! They are really good. I never had it, but I've seen the adult grilled cheese and it looked impressive, as did the salmon entree. I've had the steak french dip, which was ok, the meat is large chunks instead of more sliced/shaved. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not my preference. Shrimp tacos were decent, although maybe a bit better looking than tasting, but not bad. Black bean burger was boring. Drinks are very good, red sangria is very yummy. I've been a few times, and I'd go back, but I do think the menu is a little hit or miss. Again, servers have always been really great. read more

Had an amazing experience - Amazing Service, great presentation, nice decor, good selection of beers and cocktails, ample vegetarian options on the menu. Restaurant have a bar section, a dinning room and outdoor seating for summers. Went on valentine's day Eve without reservation but they were able to accommodate us on the bar. I haven't been here since it was the Readington Diner. We recently moved into the area and I decided I wanted to check it out. The interior is a complete 180° from when it was a diner. There's a long bench seat in the middle of the main dining area. The bar is to the right. My wife got a glass of Pinot Noir while I went with the beer flight (Long Jawns Winter Lager, Troegs Sunshine Pils, Allagash White, Sunken Silo Cool Story M). My wife ordered the grownup grilled cheese and I went with the signature burger. The grilled cheese came in Texas toast and was so thick, my wife could only eat half. She brought the rest home for lunch the next day. The burger was hot and juicy. It was also thicker than most ordinary burgers. For dessert, I went with the affogato (ice cream and a shot of espresso) with a glass of sambuca. Our waiter, Jose, was very friendly. read more

What's all the hype about this place? They have nyc prices but it's basically a revamped diner with better food. I had their short rib dish, it was decent but definitely not worth the price point and quality that was served. I have been here 4-5 times, tried different dishes but I don't understand how this place is always busy. Much better places if you head a bit east. A nice no-frills place with good food and ambience. There's nothing really remarkable about it that sets it a part unfortunately. It does seem they are willing to try new things, like adding an outdoor porch, and at one point they had a traveling pastry chef come in on certain days of the week. We recently made our second visit to Kitchen American Grill. We stopped in for an early dinner after coming home from a trip out of town, and we were happy to find them open on Monday afternoon at 3:45. They were only a couple of other tables occupied when we arrived at 3:45 PM on Monday afternoon. We were promptly seated, and received a friendly greeting from our server Stefania. Our friends each enjoyed a glass of white sangria, and my husband had a draft beer from a local brewery. Kitchen has several local draft beers on tap and a comprehensive listing of wine by the glass and by the bottle. My husband and I ordered the appetizer Caprese salad, which was among the best Caprese salad we've had. And it's July so the local tomatoes were perfectly ripe and the locally made mozzarella was a perfect accompaniment. Although it was a $19 salad, the portion was generous. Our friends shared the homemade vegetable lasagna, which they indicated was "incredible." I had the (3) shrimp tacos, which were tasty. The corn tortillas were fresh and the chipotle mayonnaise had just the right kick. They also allowed me to substitute coleslaw for the French fries that typically accompany the tacos. My husband had their pork chop, which is served with a mushroom demi-glace over a bed of mashed potatoes. This was one among the most tender juicy pork chops I've ever tasted at a restaurant. The portions here were generous, the service was great and we all enjoyed ourselves. My husband and I had dined here before during a busier time and the service and food were good then as well, I just hadn't written a review at that time. This is a great option if you're in the area. It was pretty busy on a Monday night around 7 for dinner. We had a party of 6 and were surrounded by parties of 3 or more. The décor was cool, the lighting was right and the menu looked like it had something for everyone. I enjoyed my time dining in the restaurant but I just plainly did not enjoy my food. Towards the end of the meal I glanced around the table and nobody finished their food and all said "it's just ok" when they were asked how their dinner was. Had a great experience here and our waiter had an incredible attitude. Really brightened our day after a long week of work. We got the pork chop and signature burger. The mash potatoes and fries that came with our meal was so delicious. Could not get enough of it! I really enjoyed the mushrooms and gravy that came with my dish as well, flavor and texture was well balanced. Adult grilled cheese is ok with a dipping soup they provide. It wasn't my pick but we got zucchini sticks and they were no bueno. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and clean. Food nothing short of stellar! Now, for the suggestions..we sat in the bar area booth, so not sure if/how this impacts our review. Timing of appetizers and arrival of entries was off. Not even half done with appetizers, when mains arrived. Always creates some table havoc. Since server was also tending bar, getting drinks ordered and refilled timely was a challenge as well. Again, could this be due to a busy night in the bar area? Don't know. What a special lunch I enjoyed with my 5 year old granddaughter at Kitchen American Grill when she had an early dismissal from school! Our server Rachel C, went above and beyond to ensure it was a memorable experience! Rachel was wonderful treating both myself and my granddaughter as if we were the only ones in the restaurant! She paid tremendous attention to detail, even bringing a separate small bowl of whip cream on a bread plate when asking for a small ramekin on the side for our shared dessert. (The carrot cake was absolutely delicious...beautiful presentation!) The food too, was awesome! All 3 generous sized kids chicken tenders were gone, and my black bean burger with sweet potato fries likewise didn't stand a chance! Rachel never made us feel rushed either, which was very nice. Opportunities for special luncheons like this with my granddaughter do not happen too often, as she has 2 younger brothers (who like to be included), and a sister due to join the family in less than 2 weeks! Rachel later shared that she use to go out to lunch with her grandmother when she was a little girl, and to this day, still meets with her once a week for lunch...such a sweetheart! First visit to this new place. Great interior, newly remodeled. Good but not extensive selection of wine, the Boen Pinot Noir was good as was the dry martini. Brewhouse fries and calamari appetizer were above average. The Mediterranean Grouper and shrimp with sautéed organic heirloom carrots was delicious.
