This was an unexpected gem that was recommended to myself and my daughter on our Mother's Day Weekend trip to BubblyGoat. Our original plan was to go to Ironbound Farm but they closed early and one of the staff recommended The Little York, and boy was he right!! We both had some delicious cocktails, recommended by our amazing waitress and then shared the fresh strawberry salad with burrata which rivaled any five -star salad I've had in Nee York!!! My daughter is gluten-sensitive so she had their gluten pizza with chicken which she said was awesome! I had one of the daily specials, a chicken parm upside down pizza. First timer. I went on a Wednesday night and I was surprised to see that this little restaurant in the middle of nowhere was packed. We got seated and ordered our meals. The service was really good. My friend and I split a burger for appetizer. The burger was amazing. You did not have to do anything to it and I'm a condiment person so that says a lot. I got the strip steak, which was a decent size came with sides not the best but not bad at all. I definitely will be back to have that burger again and also I wanna try the pizzas there. Fires on all cylinders. In today's age places like this are hard to come by. Normal wait on a Friday night is 30-40 minutes. When you give your name they ask you what you want to drink while you wait, nice touch. Bar pizza is awesome, burgers kick ass and you can get massive olives as an appetizer. Parking is an adventure. I had ordered a 1/2 tray of eggplant rollatini form here for a party I was going to just upthe road. I had be er been there before but I definitely felt welcomed when I arrived. I called in the order for 4:00 and the girl asked me if I could come earlier because they get busy around 5. I couldn't because the wort was literally less than 2 miles away and started at 4 ish. Then my cousin changed the time of her party to 5 so I called asking to move it up til later and was told no problem. When we arrived to pick up the place was jumping. There were people sitting outside and the bar area was packed as well as the tables in the dining room. The hostess directed me to the bar to pick up my food. The girl processed the check and told me it was so hot and that she'd bring the tray out to my car. That was very sweet of her. Onto the party. We all LOVED the eggplant. I am so impressed! This is a local, friendly pub set in a very old building in the middle of farm country, Hunterdon County. People must come from all over the county to dine here because it is always packed on a Friday and Saturday night. However, do not let that deter you at all. The owner, who usually greets you when you first arrive, is super sweet and is also a genius. She's come up with the idea to take your drink order as soon as she takes your name for the waitlist. She has an amazing memory and can find you to bring you your drinks wherever you choose to wait. They have a small amount of space inside to wait and a cute little porch outside. It makes the time pass more quickly. Your pre-meal drink order gets transferred to your table check so there's no settling of payment until you're done with your entire meal. It's so simple but so brilliant!! The food here is awesome. Whether you're in the mood for standard pub fare such as burgers and wings or if you're interested in a more elevated food experience, as featured in their specials menu, you cannot go wrong. The chef/cooks here are very capable! On our most recent visit, we had two specials. One was my choice of cut of a pork chop. I went with the tomahawk. I've had very expensive cuts of pork at higher-end restaurants and none have ever been cooked as perfectly as here! They're cooking pork "medium" nowadays, which is what they did here. While it is a little hard getting used to, this pork was ultra tender, juicy and flavorful! I asked them to sub in the broccoli from another special for my veggie side and I'm so glad I did. It was charred with a little balsamic and Parmesan cheese. Fantastic. Also, they are very accommodating. If they are able to sub, they will. My husband got the French dip special and it was out of this world. Served on toasted garlic bread. Delicious. We shared a cannoli and had cappuccinos for dessert. Both were great. All portions are huge and the prices are unreal! All of the waiters and waitresses have always been very friendly and capable. We had such high hopes until we were served bottom round instead of brisket. It took us half the meal to figure out what was off. Was it the texture? the flavor? Both? i thought it was chuck roast, but the server confirmed, after insisting it was "corned beef", that it was indeed bottom round. I've liked everything I've had here, until tonight's offering. Of course, they are selling it, so somebody must be buying it. I just wish that we knew before we ordered and we would have selected something else. read more

Went here for our 28th anniversary tonight. Drove up from Asbury Park. Bit of a drive but totally worth it. This little place is awesome. Its affordable, the food is excellent quality, it comes out fast and perfect. Our server was the best(you shoulda tried the cracklins!) We started with potato leek soup, awesome and smooth, home made fresh all the way, also got the ricotta naan flatbread which was incredible, love that they use local cheese, it makes a real difference. Also got the chicken cracklins, surprisingly great! Main meals we got chicken picatta and chicken parm . Both were perfect portions. Then went for dessert, limoncello cake and vanilla caramel cake. First timer and certainly not the last. We arrived around 5:30 thinking we would get a table immediately. So wrong! The place was jammed packed which is always a good indication - filled with families and couples. We immediately were approached by the hostess who took our name and drink order. She was phenomenal! I watched her flit around tending to everything and everyone. Once we were seated we were immediately approached by our waitress who took our drink order. Our food arrived quickly and hot and, delicious. And in these times of high prices, The Little York is surprisingly well priced. I would like to rename this spot as The Little Gem! read more

Food was only just ok in my opinion. I had a pizza special (taco pizza), friends had a burger, chicken with pasta, and a fried chicken sandwich. Every thing looked great, but the pizza crust wasn't for me. I like thin crust and I'm all about different flavors, but I didn't like the end crust because it was too dry which is always my decision maker for good pizza. The chicken on the fried chicken sandwich and in the pasta meals was good. The specialty drink was nothing fancy, but ok. Service was good and we didn't have to wait as long as I expected on a Sunday night at 5. The price was really reasonable for the food and portions. I'd rather pay more for better quality even if there are smaller portions. It's a bar, so for bar food, better than expected, but the smell of a bar and the bar atmosphere is still there. May come back and try other options. read more

The Little York in Milford is one of those places I've passed by for 5 or so years and always say "I've got to try it." Finally did try it last night. We got dinners and apps, but wanted to split the bar pie to give it a try. New owners bought late last year and kept the pizza the same as it had been for 20 years or so, except they changed the cheese. A very solid bar pie. Thin, great crust (not too "cracker-y"), sauce was good as was the cheese. The dinners were exceptional. They butcher their own meat in-house and the strip steak and the double cut pork chop were phenomenal. Great spot for sure! read more

The Little York never seems to find a niche for itself, or at least one it does well or decently at. The pizza has always fell flat. From the sauce to the cheese, it doesn't sit well in the stomach. Their hot subs were unconventionally small and not what one would expect it to. read more

Nice and comfy joint. Lovely ambiance. Our server was excellent. Only reason 4 and not 5 was our scallops app was something out of a Costco box. Super small and scallops were not flavored in any sense. The salad that came with main course was wilting and looked to have been prepped and left in fridge for hours. The steaks we had were spot on. Delicious and cooked med and med rare to perfection. And large. We each brought half of our main course home. Drinks were good and price was more than fair. Definitely will be back.
