I was passing through town, and so I stopped in for dinner. It's just a nice restaurant vibe, the restaurant was clean and everybody was friendly. I started with the crab puffs, it was a very decent sized order, they were crunchy and not oily at all. The crab filling in the middle was creamy and savory. They were excellent. For my main course, I had the triple crown, which was shrimp, scallops, and pork, with sautéed vegetables. The sauce was amazing, a deep, savory flavor, the veggies were perfectly done, the shrimp were very good, and the scallops were absolutely buttery. The pork was very tender. It came with a good amount of rice, which was tender and perfectly done of course, I tore into it so fast, I forgot to get a picture. That is such a bad habit of mine. To drink, I had a jasmine hot tea, which was also very good. I ended up eating all of the crab puffs, they were so good, and half of the main course ended up being breakfast the next morning. For all of this high-quality food, the price was extremely reasonable. I would stop here again the next time I'm in town. Thank you. read more

Mar far over cooked to the extent chicken was stringy. Shrimp Ok but expensive for 5 pieces, Crab Ragoon was OK. Hoping for better after seeiing their high rating. They have Pho!!!! WTH! Do you know how hard it is to find a place that has authentic Pho in Medford? HARD! There is WAAAAAAY to many Mexican restaurants and most of them are NOT authentic due to the customer base and WAAAAY to many fast food restaurants The Pho here is authentic as it comes, I wish they had a bigger Vietnamese menu and more of a Pho selection. As we were arriving in town, we knew that we'd need something else to eat for dinner. Having our dog with us, dining indoors was out of the question, so we decided to pick up a couple of items to take to our hotel room. Chen's has a very high yelp rating so we decided to give it a try. We didn't need much after having a late lunch but we didn't want to go out again after we checked in. The menu is somewhat different. The entree section offers proteins and then styles without giving away too much in the way of description. We decided to try the Beef in Hawaiian Style which was described as stir-fry with Bell Peppers, Zucchini, Onion, and Pineapple in their Special Sauce. Entrees are served with white rice. We also got an order of Mar Far Chicken, which so far as we can tell is exclusively an Oregon dish. We've never seen it offered as such anywhere else that we've traveled and that includes 21 states and 20 countries including China. We had ordered before and got different sauces in different restaurants. We placed our order by phone as we were driving to the restaurant. We arrived a couple of minutes early. The restaurant itself presented as an old Pizza Hut with the familiar hat shaped roof. The interior had been significantly remodeled. In chatting with the operator, this location had been another Chinese restaurant before they took over and previous to that, a hamburger joint after being a Pizza Hut. The service that we received was excellent. Anyway, the food. Beef in Hawaiian Style - 2 - way too sweet with sugar. With 1/2 the sugar, it may have been an okay dish. However, the beef was tough. Some Chinese restaurants will over tenderize their beef. Chen's either didn't at all or simply not long enough. Mar Far Chicken - 4 - We've enjoyed this dish before at other restaurants. At its simplest, it boneless, battered, fried chicken with a dipping sauce. We've experienced ketchup, mustard, and mayo in different combinations. Chen's gave a simple sweet and sour sauce. Fortunately, they also included two packets of Hot Chinese Mustard, which when added to the sweet and sour sauce made the Chicken absolutely delicious. Steamed Rice - 1 - some of the worse steamed rice ever. Either of poor quality or leftovers. The grains did not absorb any of the Hawaiian Sauce which may have helped it. Maybe we just came on an off day. I would come back for the Mar Far Chicken and ask for an additional container of Sweet and Sour Sauce and two more Hot Chinese Mustard packets. I might be inclined to try some dishes as well, just to give them a fair chance to show what they can do. read more

Medford OR Never a disappointment. Chen's is in at least three cities in the state that I've been to. This one, Roseburg, and Salem. Not disappointed today either. The won ton soup was flavorful and had lots of extras in it. Look at the bbq pork pieces. Huge. Fried rice I get with soup. I actually combine it so I drink all the soup with some of the rice. Take extra rice home, just like today. I really like their restaurants and they are a solid 5 every time. read more

We came here for dinner because of the reviews (both here on Yelp and on Google) and we were NOT disappointed! The service was friendly and responsive. We had hot tea sitting before us within 5 minutes of sitting down (& we had two pots because some wanted jasmine tea and some wanted black)- in both cases it was served in a cast iron teapot with fragrant loose tea. I had the triple crown (which seems to be the same in sauce as the happy family but with a different combination of proteins). It was piping hot and the veggies were plentiful and perfectly cooked (as opposed to cooked within an inch of its life). A few words about my companion's wonton soup. The bowl was enormous and filled to the brim with veggies and wontons (unlike some places that give you a few limp carrots and three wontons). The portions were gigantic (we easily hit 7 meals out of the 4 meals we ordered) and the prices were very reasonable. They even give a 5% discount if you pay in cash! Excellent Food and Service! The Best Chinese Food we've had here in Southern Oregon! We ordered several of there dishes, Our Favorites Are the General Tso's Chicken = So Delicious! And their Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp, it comes with veggies and an amazing sauce! We ordered to go and they had it ready So Quickly! The only thing we wish we could change is the fried rice doesn't have small chopped up pieces of pork. You have to special order whatever meat you want in the Fried Rice and they are bigger pieces of meat than you usually get in Fried Rice. But it's delicious and definitely worth ordering. After being told we could sit wherever we want we were immediately served glasses of water. We ordered delicious jasmine tea and it came in an adorable cast iron pot with loose leaves in a strainer. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Chen's come up on my search, i phone the restaurant and confirmed if this was similar to location in Roseburg. For a Friday night near closing there were two large parties seated and a few other diners. Service was quick, friendly, and provided good recommendations on their menu items. The location has ample space inside to accommodate large families. The parking sort of wraps around the building and is located between one way streets. For starters I enjoyed a cup of hot and sour soup. One of the best i've had so far. The flavor was right and had plenty of hearty ingredients in my cup. Our waitress recommended the spicy beef dish. It was delicious, didn't know it would be cold but it had a spice to it that left my lips numb and I liked it. Underneath the meat was cucumbers that were fresh and crisp to cool the spicy. Ordered general tso chicken and kung pao combo. General tso even after sitting for a while was still crispy, didn't become soggy. Decent portions and they didn't skimp on the shrimp on the kung pao. We really enjoyed it here! We were visiting from out-of-state for Thanksgiving, so it was our first time. We were looking for a place that had pho. The food was very satisfying and delicious. The service was excellent. I can't remember the name of our waitress but she had a braid and was telling us she had 6 children. She was very nice and very attentive. She was so sweet with our baby. We really liked her. We loved the ambiance. The environment was clean and very nice. I had to change the baby and I was dreading it because most bathrooms and their changing tables are disgusting. I was RELIEVED to see a clean bathroom and a changing table I felt comfortable changing my baby on. We enjoyed our experience, will definitely be back when we visit our family again! read more

Wow!! Exceeded our expectations. Upon coming in, it is clean, nice decor and ambiance. We heard it was good but it was great. The waitress was friendly, prompt, and helpful. The appetizer-fried wontons seriously were the best I have ever had. Hot and steamy, fresh and delicious. The main course had a trio of protein: Pork, shrimp and Scallops. Each one was cooked perfectly. Such tender scallops. The vegetables were all different thicknesses yet each one cooked perfectly. One of the best Chinese places in medford, it's only rival silver dragon who's been there forever. However keeps its consistency, the fact that the rising star among the top tier oriental food in the valley. They have so many different styles I'm still going down the menu, I like how most of them are Chinese origin or related. Mongolian for example. I don't want to expand too much on their menu until I've tried more. Well amazing rising dragon in the valley in general both of these are great competitors. As well as just around the corner from Chen's other biggest competitor TOSU Ramen + Sushi. Which does a more Japanese take on stuff in fact I recommend the ramen mind blowing, but obviously Chen's is ridiculously good otherwise it wouldn't be so popular in sticking around like it is. The lunch specials have a little of everything, still working on getting dinner specials because I get so much for lunch. It will happen trust me. I was in Medford and needed lunch. I had bookmarked Chen's to try and thought, why not. Interesting thing is that I was in the neighborhood earlier in the week and didn't see them. The reviews were good, and I close by so why not. Friendly greeting when I walked in, and I took a seat in the corner so I could see the dining room. Great selection and I ordered the chow mein with shrimp, kung pao chicken, and the beef with spicy sauce. Everything came out in timely manner, and the entrees came with a bowl of white rice. Out of the three, my favorite was the beef with spicy sauce; tender beef and just the right amount of heat. I also liked the kung pao, but not too keen on the peanut garnish, just tossed those in at the last minute. The chow mein had a really good amount of fresh vegetables and I love how they were all crispy and crunchy and not soggy like some. However, the noodles were a disappointment. They reminded me of Panda Express. I then looked around the dining room. Besides myself and two of the workers, we were the only Asians. Granted this was my first time here, so maybe there's more at night. I also was not offered chopsticks. The staff is really friendly and everything was good. I would definitely come back. read more

Once again, Chen's is outstanding. The service is great, the food is fantastic. It is so great to have Chinese food in Medford that rivals what I've had in Seattle and even in San Francisco. There are more items on the menu in those other two places but Chen's does not disappoint. The only bad thing is we seldom have leftovers to take home. We eat it all at the table. They were great when they first opened. Now everything seems to have the same very bland brown sauce--cashew chicken, Mongolian Beef, other dishes that should be a lot more flavorful. Bland and boring. The fried rice was more like steamed rice with some veg and proteins mixed in. Service for takeout was fine. No comment on the restaurant, except it was a little dark.
