However, I shortly received a call back from the manager, Laura, informing me that the bunny was being sold to a walk-in customer. Given that I followed the specific process outlined by your staff after weeks of persistent check-ins, I find this outcome very upsetting and unprofessional.

In the 15 years I've been in this field, I've see a wide spectrum of care, most of it done by amazing, highly educated, and dedicated professionals but sadly, I've also seen too many instances of carelessness that led to poor patient outcomes, so I am extremely cautious about who works on my animals. Honestly, I can be kind of a pain in the a** until my trust is earned. I am happy to say that my experience with the Blackhawk crew has been excellent. My boy is 11 years old, very anxious, has multiple issues, and, true to the vet med rules that tech pets always have to be more complicated, is now dealing with a chronic illness that has been difficult to diagnose and treat. I'm not a fan of old-school veterinary medicine. I want my animals to always have the most current, evidence based care and I feel like Dr. Isom meets the mark here, which in my experience is less common in more rural areas like this. She is thorough in her assessments and discussing treatment/diagnostic options, even going the extra mile to consult with specialists as my boy's case continues to defy the norm. I am terrible with remembering names so I know I am not giving enough recognition to everyone that has worked on my boy, but Carolina and Dr. Isom have been very understanding of my background and my dog's sensitivities. The team has done a great job customizing my boy's visits to minimize stress for us both, which I deeply appreciate. I also have to give everyone extra props for accomplishing all of this while also transitioning their practice management software over to a paperless system, which is a HUGE undertaking to be handling on top of the usual demands of our profession. When I called about pricing, before their appointments, I did tell them I had a 20 pound dog and a 8 pound dog. I wish they would've been more upfront about the pricing. If they were more upfront, I wouldn't be as upset about charging more. They even charged extra for conditioner, which I assumed was included on the full spa experience. We go home and they called and said that the vet wanted to talk about Sadie. She had a lump on her jaw. We got everything taken care of. I told her that I wanted to be there since I watched her be born. The vet said no at first because of the chemicals they were using. I told her that I watched her be born. The excuse changed to she didn't want her staff to deal with me holding her during her last moment. That one denial was the hardest thing I've been through. I wish I could bill them for the year and half of counseling I had to go through. We had her cremated and returned to us. I get there to pick up her remains. I tell them that I was there to pick up her ashes and all they did was set the bag with her ashes and memorial box on the counter and went back to talking with one of the techs. I had been taking her there for almost 12 years and had nothing had no problems with her office. The experience we had with Sadie was beyond traumatic. I no longer refer her. I know that for a fact I'm never going to take another pet to her clinic.
