Did the Cashew Chicken lunch special as a take out and am quite pleased. The sauce was thick but not greasy, the chicken was fresh white meat, the chicken fingers were lovely. Over all the food tasted fresh and they put sprouts in the fried rice - which I LOVE. Great food. More then what you would pay at other restaurants but you get what you pay for. Strong drinks and quick food from the kitchen. Everything minus the fortune cookies at the end was very fresh and full of flavor. They featured several difficult to execute dishes that had many difficult to balance ingredients and pulled them off. My current favorite is the Mongolian Beef. I am looking forward to another visit. This is one of those places that is worth the trip regardless of where you are coming from. read more

I'm new to Mansfield so I thought I'd try this place out. When I walked in to the restaurant it was empty. However, I wasn't greeted by anyone and had to find someone myself. It was really delicious, perfect portions, good quality, friendly staff. The ambiance is great too, nice lighting and decor. I just wish the menu on their website was easier to read- I see broken pages on it. I like to read the menu online before I visit a restaurant. I should have picked up a take out menu the last time I was there, but who relies on paper anymore? Still we had a great dinner and stellar experience. I live within walking distance to Cheng Du so I eat here frequently. I've never ordered take out from them. I always dine in the dining room. I like the atmosphere with the dimmer lighting, and the waitstaff are always pleasant and prompt. I always order the same: chicken fingers, fried rice, crab rangoons, and pot stickers. It's all yummy, but I'm not sure it's any better than any other Chinese food I've ever had. To be honest, the crab rangoons aren't my favorite, but I still order them every time! It's a good, quick dinner out on a weekend, and I've never had to wait for a table. I wouldn't seek Cheng Du out if I didn't live close by, but it's an easy place within walking distance. read more

I was very disappointed with Cheng Du. Every once in a while, I deviate from my normal Asia restaurants in town. Tonight, my family requested Cheng Du. I ordered my food and was told 20 minutes, so I showed up 20 mins later. I had to wait at least another 20-25 minutes for my food. When I got home, there was nothing that resembled my normal Chinese dishes. The chicken fingers were 20% chicken and 80% fried dough. The spare ribs were inedible because they were so fatty. The teriyaki was tough to chew. Don't get me started on the "Peking Noodle" bird nest. The seafood was so gross, I actually spit it out. And to finish it off, no fortune cookies. What self-respecting Chinese food restaurant doesn't give fortune cookies? And for the record, two of the people just ran to the bathroom at the exact same time. It's a shame. Best Crab Rangoon I've ever had. It is creamy and very sweet. A little pricey if you are ordering A La Carte, but the buffet is a great deal. The trick is to catch it at the right time. Either right as it opens or during peak. Otherwise you run the risk of the food not being fresh. The service is pretty good. The younger waitress is quiet, but very sweet. The older waitress is a bit gruff, but efficient. Definitely a great place to visit. Wish we lived in delivery range!! read more

This is the best fast Chinese food around by far, in fact, it's the best Chinese food outside of Chinatown in Massachusetts. It is simple and delicious. I highly recommend the lo mein, crab rangoons (be warned, lots of cream cheese, for those who don't like that), crispy sesame chicken, hot and sour soup... the list goes on. If you order a Shirley temple or another drink like that, make sure it comes in a cool cup like the ones shaped like a panda bear! Also the lunch buffet is particularly good! read more

I am a regular customer here for takeout and eat in. Rarely do I have a bad experience but New Year's Eve was terrible. I called early in the day with an order to be picked at 7pm. My wife was picking it up. I was told we would get a call to confirm when it was ready. Arriving there were dozens of people in line waiting for pick up orders. The staff refused to take names of who was waiting and said only one person that "had the list" would give any information. He eventually appeared and was swamped by people. He basically said if you hadn't been called your orders not ready. No estimates in time or list order were given. The staff were rude and could careless about the situation. Regardless of being New Year's Eve that's not isn't an excuse to start treating customers like an unwanted nuisance. Finally got the phone call at 8:40pm, an hour and forty minutes late. My wife immediately asked for the food and when given the bag it was ice cold which meant it had been sitting at least 15-30 minutes. When she got home we checked to see if the temperature of the food was better than what it felt like from the outside of the containers but it was indeed cold. Hanging around for wasted time when the food was ready added insult to injury. If the resturant can't meet a pick up time given 8 hours earlier they shouldn't accept the order. If they can't accurately figure out when they are over taxed they shouldn't be taking orders. The rudeness and cold food killed any chance we will be back. read more

This was my favorite local Chinese restaurant but not anymore! I ordered take out last Sunday night when my friend Jill was home visiting for the holidays. We ordered house fried rice with our order did not receive it but got charged for it anyway. I did the math we were charged for it!! I called to complain only to be told that they were right and I was wrong. I will not be going to this restaurant again. I may also spread the word about the service or lack thereof. read more

Although it is out of the way for us, we make the half hour drive to Mansfield and are never disappointed. The Hot and Sour Soup and Crab Rangoon are five star, but there really hasn't been anything I haven't liked. Sonny, the owner, makes the best Mai Tais and always makes you feel like a VIP. read more

I'm a big Cheng Du fan. They have a very big menu but we cant pry ourselves away from the beef and broccoli and the crispy sesame chicken. We've tried sesame chicken elsewhere and nothing comes close to Cheng-Du. The dining room is nice, but I prefer take out or home delivery. Unfortunately, it can get expensive here. read more

Impressed with the food and was impressed with the service - except for one time. The crab rangoons were definitely awesome, probably some of the best I've had. But the first time I called (and swore I'd never order here again because of it) I spoke to a very hurried woman, who I asked if they had something, and she angrily replied "Do you want to call back?" I couldn't believe how rude she was the entire time we spoke. The delivery person, a middle aged gentleman, however was extremely nice. Food was gross. Rice was super dry, even after putting duck sauce on it. Chicken fingers were hard as a brick and the boneless ribs were mostly fat. Best Chinese food in the area. It's the only place I'll go for Chinese food. The Crab Rangoons are in a league of there own. You also can't go wrong with any of the dry saute options. I was reluctant to try another Chinese restaurant on the west side when I got a mailer from Cheng Du. I went for lunch and the shrimp mixed with mushrooms and asparagus was outstanding. It was not overwhelmed with greasy sauces. The shrimp was absolutely cooked to perfection and large in size. The combo meal with fried rice and soup with an egg roll cost me 6.50. This nonpareil meal was much better than my last Chinese meal at PF Changs. read more

Sorry to say that our most recent visit was less than what we expected. Saturday night with a few open tables the poor/slow service wasn't from them being swamped. We had to flag down the waiter multiple times and he seemed annoyed by us interrupting what ever he was doing. Waiter got our order for 'Boned' ribs wrong and brought boneless which he was slow in correcting. My wife ordered the Crispy Peking Noodles that was suppose to Pan-fried noodles topped with shrimp, scallops, poke, ham, mushrooms and mixed vegetables, served in a ginger-garlic sauce and that gave no indication that it would have sugar added which the ginger sauce had trouble overcoming. My wife searched in vain for the for the shrimp & scallops and found instead beef slices where sent the dish back and to our disbelief they brought back the same dish that by that time she was no longer hungry having helped me eat my Sizzling Shrimp Platter which was very good. We had them pack up her dish and this morning I confirmed that that what they presented was something other than what she ordered. I can understand a busy restaurant can sometime mix up dishes but when you send it back only have them disrespect you by bringing the same wrong order back is inexcusable. read more
