Go outside the box of your typical American Chinese restaurant and pick a few things off the dim sum menu. You won't regret it. I recently stopped by for takeout & ordered the Salty crispy fish & Peppery Chicken. (It's definitely worth it to check out the Chef's Specialties- they are EXCELLENT! I had the beef with ginger scallions it was DELISH - tons of FLAVOR!) The Peppery Chicken is wok fried dried chilis mixed with diced chicken. It's a dry dish so no real sauce but the chicken is tossed with spicy chili flavor & it's is excellent & surprisingly not overly spicy - it's more a nice medium spice! The salted crispy fish is a fresh mild flavored pieces of white fish tossed in a very light breading wok fried with onions & jalapeños & scallions! Also DELISH! Golden chopsticks is one of the best Chinese Restaurants between New Haven and Providence. Don't go there for the routine, while that's good. Go there for the specialties. Those are great. Their dim sum selection is exceptional in this area. No, it's not from a bunch of carts being wheeled around but ordered off the menu it's as good as those in Chinatown. I would have no hesitation telling the knowledgeable waitress to select a meal and know I'd be happy with whatever they choose. Having a quiet lunch is always nice here. Alone of with someone, service is always kind and friendly. Parking is easy. and the food and menu are both good variety and taste wise. Prices are decent. Bathrooms are ok. Small bar area, more for takeout... spring rolls and egg rolls are really good. Tofu entrees excellent! Pu-Pu platter is good, but go boneless and ask for shrimp. Crab Rangoons are a must, best around! Portions are decent size, but not overflowing off of your plate like some places I've been. Probably better that way. They have Dim Sum which is fabulous and truly authentic dishes on a separate menu for the many Asians who eat here. Number one recommendation for the Golden Chopstix is that it serves dim sum always....It's not the NYC or Hong Kong dim sum with the carts and the Asian ladies singing out their wares , but it is good dim sum. Forty seven items plus appetizers that can be brought into play. That's a pretty good selection! I've not been disappointed. The only problem with having such a great dim sum selection is that I have yet to order some of the other house specials. I'm dying to try their Peking Duck! With a name with Chopstix in it, I was expecting Chinese American takeout but was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer dim sum. Located in an unassuming plaza with plenty of parking, we left happy and full. We ordered an array of dishes including dim sum options. We started with soup - chicken corn and hot and sour, chicken corn was just ok but I was not a fan of the hot and sour at all - it just didn't taste right. Onto the main feast! The salted squid was coated in a heavier batter than I typically like but the flavors were really good - salty and spicy and super flavorful - it sure didn't stop us from eating every last bit. The peapod leaves were just as good, some restaurants make it a bit too oily, but this was just right. My favorites out of the dim sum were the tripe, scallion pancake (dipping sauce was delicious!) and pork ribs. Our waitress was outstanding - super friendly and helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our time here, the service was quick and fast and the food was very good - all came out hot and fresh, sometimes dim sum dishes end up not always tasting so fresh at some other places in RI. Nice to know if we were in the area again, there's a place to indulge in some dim sum there. read more

This place does not look like much from the outside, as it is in a small strip mall, but the food here is authentic Chinese food. The menu is extensive and the price is more than fair for the portions that are provided. The assortment of dim sum items is also extensive. The bubble tea comes in a variety of flavors, and the green tea provided at the table is quite good. I highly recommend the chow mein lunch special. It comes with a large egg roll and ham fried rice, which is a slightly different take on fried rice. The crispy noodles served at the table are also quite tasty with duck sauce. The key is authentic Chinese cuisine, and this is what makes a trip to Westerly even nicer, as it's a wonderful place to stop for indoor dining. You will leave here more than satisfied. read more

After reading reviews we decided to try this place. I figured order a couple things off dim sum menu and a lunch special. First came the steamed pork dumpling that has gross hunks of fat in it that I spit out. Then on to the steamed spare ribs that were just tough pork knuckles with absolutely no meat. They were terrible and we gave them back to the waitress which nicely she took off the bill I guess your supposed to just suck flavor out of bones and spit them out. Lunch special was ok. FINALLY! We finally came across some Amazing Chinese food and I couldn't be happier. We heard about them after moving to Charlestown so figured we would give it a try. I called at 8:02pm and the woman asked if I was on my way. I said I was only about 2 min away as she mentioned that they currently close at 8pm but that she would be happy to take my order. I go here for the dim sum. It's not like Boston or New York City where they have the dim sum pushed around on carts, piping steaming hot. I mean there's not enough business or demand for the dim sum push carts. But I do know that they make most of the food here fresh to order. I have ordered the (dried) shrimp filled broad rice noodles from the Asian market next door and they make it here at Golden Chopsticks. I always thought the rice noodles were premade/store bought until one day I waited for my order instead of coming later in the day and boy was I shocked to get nice warm rolled rice noodles. I go to Boston every once in a while for dim sum and I was born in New York City where I ate dim sum weekly. I can tell you the quality is really good. This place also has my favorite ever Dragon's Talons (fung jow). That's an exotic dish so newbs be forewarned. A few great dim sum dishes to try are: Broad rice noodles with shrimp or pork (Cheung fun) Savory fried dumpling (ham Sui gohk). Deep fried chewy dumpling filled with a savory blend of meats and veggies. Egg custard buns. (Nai Wong bao). Creamy custard in a pillowy soft bun. ** all pronunciations are Cantonese. Another great dish that I order every time I go to dim sum is beef chow mei fun (gawn chao gnau hauh). It's flat rice noodles stir fried with beef and scallions and bean sprouts. This dish comes out of the kitchen almost instantly so it's almost like an appetizer for our dim sum. It yields enough for about 5 one cup servings. And it's about $10. It's not a dim sum dish but our family orders it every time. read more

It was a huge portion that came out piping hot and included a side of white rice. It was seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of spice. My server was friendly and efficient. All the standards were offered but so were so many more options! As we had never eaten there and had no idea of the outstanding quality we stuck to some basics - General Tso's Chicken (best I've ever had!), shrimp Lo mein and Chicken with black bean.
