Chennai Express is an authentic South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant located in Global Mall, Norcross, Georgia. If this is your first visit to an authentic Indian restaurant, I recommend that you try out their Dosa. A Dosa is a south Indian delicacy that comes in many varieties, flavors and with various accompaniments. It's like a crepe filled with delicious stuffing. You can also select from more than a dozen variations of Dosa. While I was here, I have ordered the combo lunch which comes with a Idly, Vada and Masala Dosa served with sambar and chutney. Very delicious in taste. It just costed me $8.99 plus tax. Which is very reasonable for that meal. It is a self-served place and is maintained very neat and clean. The service is awesome with a smile. This place is located on the first floor of the mall in the food court. Their is ample free parking available as it is located in a mall.

Absolutely delicious! I had the Paneer Dosa for my first time and it was so good and very filling. The portions were large and came with soup and flavorful dipping sauces. The gentleman that took my order was super friendly and assisted me when I was unsure what to try since it was my first time. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. Thanks again :)

Wait time was too long, chef was asleep at the job. Had to be woken up to put Dosa on the grill. Expensive.

The vegetarian buffet is $12.99, while the regular buffet is $16.50, making it a great value for the variety offered. One of the highlights was the complimentary naan--soft, buttery, and fresh. The buffet featured a delicious spread, including butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, biryani, palak paneer, chana masala, samosas, and even curry goat. There was also a fresh salad bar and hot chai tea to round out the meal. The service was great, and the ambiance felt warm and authentic, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My only small critique is that I wish they had ice available for the beverages. Other than that, everything was wonderful. The food was flavorful and satisfying without leaving me feeling overly stuffed. The hot chai tea was the perfect finishing touch. I'm already looking forward to visiting again.

I got there around 3pm so most everything needed a real good stir. You could tell it had been sitting for a while. The Punjabi Khadi had one small pakora left and a whole lot of sauce. I still enjoyed it. The dishes were a bit too oily for my liking. It was good for a one meal of the day and nothing else before it in the day and nothing again until tomorrow. The service was great. The gentleman had water for me and a nice serving of fresh naan waiting for me before I even sat down. He was quick to clear dirty dishes. I've never been to Global Mall before but enjoyed a stroll after my meal.

Based on that, I wouldn't mind coming back and trying more of the menu. This place might actually have five-star potential when it comes to Indian snacks and street food in metro Atlanta -- the menu offerings and pictures look promising. We had Pani Puri (eight pieces for $7.99) and a Mango Lassi ($3.99). Both were delicious. Panipuri are deep-fried, hollowed-out balls filled with potatoes, chickpeas, and spices, and you add a side of flavored water yourself; in this case, green mint water. I think maybe there was some coriander in there too. I'm not sure. There was also a dark red/brown spicy sauce (legit spicy), from a squeeze bottle at the food cart. I think it had tamarind in it. The Mango Lassi tasted fresh. It was cold, sweet, creamy, and refreshing. My wife thinks it was pre-made and had been sitting in a fridge ready to go. Either way, it was good. Amul Veg Restaurant's menu features several different kinds of Indian apps and chaat (savory snacks), Indian pizza, pav bhaji and sandwiches, and more. I love pav bhaji and would like to try their version if we return. Amul Veg Restaurant is located inside Global Mall, an Indian shopping mall in Norcross / Gwinnett County, just off I-85 exit 99 (Jimmy Carter Blvd). The restaurant is on the second floor, next to the food court. Unlike the food court stalls/counters that share common-area seating, Amul Veg Restaurant has its own space with dedicated seating. We sat in one of the dining room booths. This is a small, simple, clean, brightly-lit, casual eatery that has a similar look and feel to a fast-food restaurant. When we entered around 3:40pm on a Sunday, it was just my wife and me and one other diner. By the time we left, by 4:00pm, it was busier with at least four other small parties dining in or waiting for their to-go orders. Service was fine. Amul Veg Restaurant opened in 2021.

I must admit to being pleasantly surprised - sure this isn't the best Indian, but nor is it the worst I've ever had - the flavors seemed fairly "right on" to me. Nothing was over-the-top in heat and they offered both goat and chicken. My only disappointment was in the general warmth of several of the dishes but I wasn't really surprised due to they're being in a buffet table. The hotel pan of naan bread was abysmal - dried out and cold, however we were offered fresh so I won't count that against the place. The server also greeted us at the door and I have a feeling it may have been the owner. There's a giant fish tank in the center of the room that would have added to an otherwise plain interior, if it wasn't for the annoying child standing in front of it talking to herself regarding pretty much everything in the tank. I got to hear all as she was standing right behind me. I really don't understand this trend of parents allowing their children to run around unsupervised but that's a different issue. I won't go to much into the food itself other than to note the tandoori chicken was right on, the chicken tika masala was really good, the fried veggies cold and the biryani not worth eating. But this being a buffet there was still plenty to sample and there wasn't anything there that was worse than my expectations - actually the tika was above average I thought. So the real standout and reason for a return trip is the price - $7.99 for an evening Indian buffet! For that price I can put up with a few inferior items - heck they serve liquor too.
