I found pricing to be fair and the luncheon specials are really reasonably priced. I ordered the sweet and sour pork with white rice, egg drop soup, won ton chips, and Chen's special ice tea. I got to give the meal 5 Stars. The pieces of pork had been individually battered then perfectly fried. A perfect medley of pineapple, onions, and green bell peppers really complimented it. The rice was perfectly steamed and the soup and won ton chips were great! I looked at some of the other dishes being served which looked excellent. My server was all alone taking care of lots of take outs and customers eating. I was very impressed how friendly and kind she was. The service was excellent, considering how busy she was. The ambience was really nice with booths and tables for families. The restaurant was very clean and odor free. The meal I had was excellent and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. read more

The Thai rice noodles were so good!!!! Everything we got was good except the beef stick and ribs. The meat of those 2 items were way too tough. I couldn't. But if you want an old school yummy Chinese spot this place is it. I liked it and will definitely order from here again. The crab rangood, Mongolian beef and general Taos were really good. Since this place is really the only Chinese restaurant in the area that I know of, I was curious to see if it was any good. Chen's Chinese Bistro wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, either. It's in the Safeway shopping center on N. Hunt Highway. The parking lot is wide open and shared with the other neighboring businesses. I ordered as I was leaving Saturday mass, knowing it would be ready when I arrived. It was indeed ready when I got there, but I was not impressed. The food was just alright. I wanted a dish similar to what I normally order, which is a Hong Kong style cake noodle. The Double Pan Fried Noodles combo style was wayyyy too salty!! Had it been seasoned less, it would have been better. The Shrimp Fried Rice was dry. While I liked that they weren't stingy on the shrimp (quantity and size), it just didn't taste as good as I am used to. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance, very casual and clean. I think the prices are a bit high, but I guess it reflects the fact that they're so far from civilization, lol. Florence is up and coming, so I hope to see more Chinese restaurants pop up in the future. I'd be willing to try this place again, but not anytime soon. I've seen reviews asking customers not to be rude because the staff is hardworking, but in my experience, they are responding to how they are treated. This is their career choice, and hard work doesn't excuse the lack of professional rapport. When picking up carryout, I'm greeted with a curt "thirteen dollars" instead of a welcome. The food is solid--4 stars--but the unwelcoming atmosphere and service both earn 3 stars. I keep returning because options are limited in this new community, but I'd welcome competition. Food and prices are good. I have gone several times. The only thing is that the food does not reheat well. Since I don't usually finish my food I like to warm it the next day for dinner. This is the only Chinese restaurant I can't do that. read more

I tried this place a few times in years past and wasn't impressed, mostly due to the grumpy owners and service, but they've stepped up their game in the last few months. The food has been good and fairly consistent with the spice levels. The service was prompt and friendly. I'll give them a few more tries and if the service and quality remain at the current levels I will upgrade my rating. read more

When I moved to the area 8 years ago. The food was really good. However it has gone downhill over the past 3 to 4 years.

Food was really bad. It was soggy and cold. We ordered beef and broccoli, chicken chow mein and sweet and sour pork. We can't say anything was good. The broccoli was actually fridge cold in spots and the corn starch to thicken the sauce was all chalky and not fully cooked. There were also fridge cold bean sprouts in then chow mein. When we told the lady it was actually cold she said she could put it in the microwave for us, ahh no thx. It's been about 8 years since we've eaten here now I know why. We won't be back. read more

I ordered the Kung Poa with Scallops, which came with a bowl of Hot and Cold Soup. All very yummy. I found the service very harsh though and our service came out without a smile. This is a solid three stars for a strip-mall Chinese restaurant. It wasn't very busy at lunchtime. Service was efficient. The prices were decent - $7.95 for most lunch specials, which included rice, salad, soup, egg roll and cream cheese puff. It was the smallest salad and cup of soup we've ever seen, but all in all still a good value. My husband had sweet/sour pork and I had Asian glazed chicken. Both fairly decent. Live and Learn. Not all Chen's are the same, and we will NEVER eat here again. To begin, the place stinks as soon as you walk in, a very putrid sulfur smell envelops you to the point of nausea....so we quickly changed out plans from a nice evening out to take-out and head back home. Once we got home and tried the food we took 2 bites and it was the WORST Chinese food we have ever had. Didn't even look right. Didn't taste good at all. The lemon chicken looked like fake chicken and was not a panko type breading like usual. Okay, im not sick and I will eat the leftovers, but... -the General Tsos chicken was the same battered chicken used for orange chicken, and had a few peanuts and no spicy to it. -combo lomein would be expected to have several shrimp, not just 3 of them, more than a few pieces of chicken and pork rather than fat pieces. -the lady at the counter was pretty demanding and short with people, They are take out only right now but if she was waiting on me at a table I most likely would have left. After reading the raving reviews it makes me wonder if its not the owners/family rating this place. I went into the restroom and about gagged. It stuck and obviously had not been cleaned for a long times. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. Eeekk! Drive the extra miles and EAT AT DRAGON CITY IN COOLIDGE.
