Place is straight up nasty. We watched them through the swinging doors dump leftover soup from a table back in the pot. We literally left money on the table left immediately. They were soon after that, fined for leaving 24 plucked ducks hanging outside on the dirty, wrought iron gate that surrounds the restaurant where the public walks by. We called about 3 pm to have an order ready at 5 pm. The woman who took our order was nice and knowledgeable about the menu and what we might want. Ex: I ordered a hot and sour soup and an egg flower soup, when I had completed my order she asked if we wanted the single soup which I appreciated so we didn't have two large soups around for days. Arriving at 5 pm to pickup my order, it was brought out right on time, hot and freshly prepared. My order was accurate and well packaged for pickup. The atmosphere was nice inside, and it looked and smelled clean. The car smelled wonderful all the way home, we couldn't wait to try it! We were not disappointed! My husband had Spicy Kung Pao Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, Minced Chicken Egg Roll, and I had the Honey Sesame Chicken, Egg Flower Soup, and Minced Egg Roll. My husband is seldom happy with the spice level, even though I always ask for extra spicy for him. However, he was very happy this time, commenting on how nice the spice level was more than once. He also really liked his soup and egg roll. I too was very happy with my meal and the portions were more than plenty! This is actually the best Chinese I have had in about 10 years. The Egg Flower Soup was a little different than I've had before, having celery and corn in it, but it was still very good. Even our pre-packaged bought in bulk fortune cookies were fresh. This was my first time at this location parking was easy restaurant was clean with excellent spacing between seats which I prefer never have liked the feeling of being in a cramped restaurant. I opted for the daily special which was a string bean dish and spouse opted for the orange chicken. Both were very good. The string beans still had some crunch and the orange chicken was not the typical all breading no chicken. Sauces both were very good and not the typical sugary-sweet type. Portions were big and for us we might end up sharing an entree next time we visit. I'm a big egg roll fan and these were delicious. Came in today with my family. The kids loved it. It's a cute family ram business. They were very busy today and attended to us. The egg rolls were good, combination fried rice was amazing. Had dinner tonight here with my family, and the experience was outstanding! The place was very clean and beautiful! The service was amazing! They were extremely accommodating! The food was delicious! We each ordered a different platter we tried the steamed white rice, chow main, general chicken, teriyaki chicken, lo mein chicken, pot stickers, and black pepper chicken! I really like Chen's Bistro - my family has been coming here for years, and it's a nice upgrade from the much smaller "to-go" Chen's located in the Fry's strip mall on Bella Vista & Hunt. The atmosphere here is a little nicer, relaxed and not too noisy. All the usual Chinese food options here and then some. Some of my favorites include orange beef, lemon chicken, kung pao beef, Mongolian beef, Sichuan chicken and General Tso's chicken. My newest discovery are the Singapore rice noodles - AMAZING! Good starters here include their angel blossoms (crab angels), egg rolls and pot stickers. They offer beer, wine and cocktails, as well as fountain drinks and tea.The Tsing Tao beer is pretty good - I usually enjoy one or two of these with dinner when I'm here. Service has always been prompt and the staff here are very friendly. Although you don't expect this here, you can also make reservations for larger parties - something that isn't very clear, but good to know. read more

This is probably the best chinese restaurant in the Florence, Coolidge and San Tan Valley area ONLY. Its definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and wanting some americanized chinese food. Very consistant quality of food, restaurant that you can dine in thats clean and that serves free soup (egg drop or hot n sour ) and crispy noodles. They have vegetarian and vegan options and customize orders if need be. Being a vegetarian I always go in here and special order things and even if things aren't on the menu, they will make me a vegetarian soup with noodles or a vegetarian chow fun. Owners are nice, especially the guy...always friendly...he always greets us with a hello but due to his accent it sounds like he is saying hallaaahhh...lol ! Chen's bistro is a nice close by fix when you're craving some Chinese food. I don't think all of these foods are "authentic" Chinese. But nothing is too bad either. Most sauces I feel like they use the same on everything, thankfully that sauce is pretty good. The prices are alright as well. One reason for taking a star away is for the lack of personality. They definitely don't win any awards for customer service. Still thankful to have some decent Chinese food close to the neighborhood. Orange chicken (my favorite) didn't have the pepper flakes added in the sauce. Believe me, I know people say orange chicken isn't spicy.. And I agree, but they literally forgot to add any pepper flakes in the sauce. How does that happen? It was AWFUL. I've been to many Chen's and this was the worst. Service was OK and the place need to be wiped down something fierce. At first sip of my water, I realized they don't have filtered water; it's straight out of the tap. Couldn't even wash down the bland, strange tasting orange chicken out of my mouth. I couldn't wait to get out of there! The Chen's in San Tan Valley is the place I'll be headed to! Adding chili sauce or sriracha brightens the flavors substantially, and I wonder why it is so bland when it leaves the kitchen. Just ok nothing special but it's a close location to our house. Some of the flavors were off to me, the chow mein had a hint of curry taste which I didn't care for.
