Super quick lunch service - food was served in a flash! Large portions and very tasty. Ambience was nice, quiet restaurant with TV softly in the background no music. Definitely hit the spot after a lovely morning hike!

How do I love Chens? Let me count the ways. Chens is a local Gold Canyon restaurant that flies under the radar. Most people in the valley have no idea where Gold Canyon is (far East valley) and certainly don't know the handful of restaurants. Chens is special in my opinion. From the variety to amazing quality and freshness, not to mention the attentive and professional staff - they do everything right. Both my wife and I love it and after 35 years in the phoenix area we consider it a great choice and feel so lucky it's in our neck of the woods. Highly, highly recommend if you're on our side of town. Big love for Chens!

Hands-down BEST CHINESE in Arizona. The staff are so hospitable & sweet. Emma took care of my table -- she is a GEM! She ensembled my to-go order so perfectly to transport (see photo). It's the *~*~*LITTLE THINGS*~*~* Worth every mile I drive to get here.

I had ice tea and wife ordered the blood orange jenny drink; both were great and refreshing! I also ordered a loaf of their warmed sourdough and butter to share with the table. Almost like being in San Francisco! For dinner we decided to share a couple of things; the crab cakes, which comes with fried avocado and some of the best aioli for dipping. The cakes themselves are big and full of crab with just the right amount of filling to create a decadent and moist cake! We also shared the seared jumbo scallops...High Tides knows how to cook scallops to the best! So yummy and tender and perfectly cooked with that crispy outer and the soft, creamy inside. We also shared a Caesar salad and one of the things we love about this place...ask and you can get some fresh anchovy on the side to add to the salad. Wife always asks for more lemon as well to drizzle over the salad. Overall a fantastic dinner for us and everyone with us!

A Hidden Gem You NEED to Try - Don't Let This Place Stay a Secret!…read moreI've been to Sage & Barrel Craft Eatery a few times now, and every visit leaves me wondering why this place isn't packed every single night. We stopped in on a Monday evening and had the whole vibe almost to ourselves--such a shame because this spot is seriously awesome and deserves a full house! The atmosphere is so vibey--warm, inviting, perfectly lit with that perfect mix of casual and upscale that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It feels special without being stuffy, great for date nights, family dinners, or just unwinding with friends over craft beers (their selection is impressive--40+ local options with plenty on tap). But the real star? The food. Everything is scratch-made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care in every bite. Deeply flavorful, innovative twists on classics, generous portions, and consistently excellent. Whether you go for the Nashville hot chicken and waffles, fish & chips, burgers, or whatever catches your eye, it's all done right. No frozen junk here--just real, delicious food that keeps you coming back. Queen Creek (and the East Valley) needs more places like this. Support local, support quality, and help keep this gem thriving so it doesn't disappear. We'll definitely be back--next time on a busier night so more people can discover it! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go. Tell your friends. Mondays (and every night) deserve Sage & Barrel. You won't regret it.

It definitely got busier as we were dining. Our server was Tammy and she was really attentive and nice. She went through the menu with us as it was our first time there. I loved that they gave us a little extra sauce on the side so we could dip each piece. The food came out pretty quickly as well. There was also a handwashing station nearby so you didn't have to go all the way to the bathrooms to wash your hands. They give you all the supplies you need to eat such as gloves, hand wipes, bibs. I had been here a few times since it first opened, but it had been a while since the last visit. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and sat. Our server was very friendly and attentive. What We Ordered: ~ Angry Edamame: Always love edamame, and add some seasoning with a little spice - perfection! ~ Snow Crab (trifecta, spice level 3) + corn: My usual go to, but wish I did Level 4 though the server talked me out of it saying it's a big jump between the two levels. Next time, I'm going for it! Pretty decent flavor, though I've preferred other crab boils in the valley recently. ~ Fried Oyster Po Boy: My boyfriend said he wasn't a big fan of this comparative to the ones he has had growing up in Florida. Definitely a pass for next time. ~ Hot Honey Blueberry Lemonade: Very refreshing and perfect for the Arizona heat. Definitely love to see this drink on the menu or seasonally. Overall, a great experience with a low key atmosphere that you'd expect for a crab shack. Love the sinks to wash your hands! A great place for us in the east valley to get our seafood boil fix.

Disappointing Anniversary Dinner - Expected More for the Price…read more My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here after getting recommendations from friends who spoke highly of the place. Since we're in the Gilbert area, we loved the idea of a great steakhouse without the drive to Scottsdale. We went in with high expectations -- we're no strangers to special occasion dining, so we knew what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. The ambience and service felt more like a polished chain restaurant than the upscale dining experience the prices suggest. For a $300-$400 dinner for two, you expect a certain level of attentiveness and flow -- and we just didn't get it. After our appetizers, we noticed we never received the pretzel bread everyone raves about. When I asked our waiter, he said they had just finished baking a fresh batch. When it arrived, it was cold -- so that clearly wasn't the case. We also had to flag our waiter down to take our entrée order, which shouldn't happen at this price point. My steak was fine -- just fine. My wife's fish was the same. Nothing memorable, nothing that made us feel like the bill was justified. By the end of the meal we were both ready to leave. Our waiter did offer a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but we were already checked out mentally and chose to go somewhere else to finish the evening on a better note. If you're in the East Valley looking for a truly special dinner, I'd honestly just make the drive to Mastro's Oceans Club or Steak 44.
