Cherian's is large and has a wide variety of produce, dry goods, freezer section etc. Plenty of Indian/Pakistani ready-made/boxed products that'll blow away any selection you're used to seeing at the other Int'l markets. Pretty good South Asian grocery store for the area. Much of the produce is a better deal, and better quality, than what you get at the Dekalb Farmer's Market - especially when it comes to fresh cilantro, ginger, garlic, and other staples of Indian/Pakistani cooking. Spices are definitely much better here (I got tasteless cinnamon, cardomom, and cloves at Dekalb's - sigh - live and learn). Be sure to pick up some super-cheap pomegranate juice - Azerbaijani pom's bottled in good old Staten Island. (Yay, my home, New York!) Phone cards are cheap here. Please do not eat the disgusting prepared food sold here - the samosas and sweets - tasted stale and as if it was fried in old, already fried-in oil (A NO-NO!) I had to deal with a tummy ache for a few days. I repeat: Do yourself a favor and go to Rajbhog across the street for samosas, or even to Gokul (despite the filth and the attitude), but do not eat here. Weekend highlights at Cherian's include - fresh coconut juice (served in a coconut), and my favorite, fresh sugar cane juice. Be sure to ask for lemon juice and ginger juice for your sugar cane juice - At $2 a glass, it is well worth the mind-vacation to India. read more

This is my favorite place for Indian grocery shopping. Cherians has a good collection of both North and South Indian spices, ready mixes, pickles, and other items from India. On Fridays there is less crowd and all the vegetables and other items are stocked well. It also has a small eatery with good indian food and snack items. Wow. This has to be the best Indian grocery store. I was quickly brought back to India in here. However, I never saw a supermarket quite to this scale anywhere in India. The other half got quite upset with me as I danced around to an ol' fav by Sharukh Kahn while eating Kurkure yummies. The selection offered here is fantactic and may be worth a five star rating. The small eatery in Cherians makes the best uttapam of any restaurant I've had. The uttapams are large, served with samba and coconut chutney, and two of us struggle to finish one. The dosa and medu vada are also excellent. All the food on the menu is cheaper than you will find at sit-down restaurants. Chai and coffee are also good. It is also nice to come in the summer and get fresh coconut water straight from the green coconut and fresh sugarcane juice. As far as groceries, the whole spices are always good quality and affordably priced. I also like to try a different vegetable from the dollar rack (older produce) each week. read more

Cherians is one of the Largest Indian Grocery Store in Atlanta may be in the United States. I heard about them through a friend. I visited there last week bought around $300 Groceries they have whole lot of items and fresh vegetables. Cashiers are very friendly and helpful. The owners or the managers are great i was coming out with all items on the cart, and one guy @ the front called a Mexican dude and he helped me out with all the groceries into my car! Came in here specifically for the restaurant, Tava and Grill, but after placing my order, I perused the shelves and found a nice clean international market, that's a definite plan B to the Farmer's market just up the street. I shopped at Cherians for the first time. I must say that I like it a lot despite an unusual cloying aroma. It's been added to my weekly stop-off list -- Cherians, First Oriental Market and the International Farmers Market. The store is very clean, well organized and stocked with exotic foods. There are familiar childhood dishes - I grew up with in Trinidad and Tobago where there is a very large Indian community. Cherians helps me prepare familiar as well as new Indian dishes and at reasonable prices. For example, powdered cardamom saves me grinding my own and there is coconut flakes, fresh and dried fenugreek and Aloo Paratha (which I had for lunch and dinner - DELICIOUS)!!! I have never seen so many varieties of peas and beans (Indian Dhal)! Boy, oh, boy I would be preparing new recipes for months!!! We have been a regular customer of this grocery store/restaurant even before they moved to this new expanded, well lit, CLEAN and well stocked building. They have a huge variety of grocery to choose from. The staff is very helpful when you cannot find any item that you need. The best part is they have a fantastic restaurant which serves FRESHLY cooked meals. Their Idlis are THE BEST in town. They are soft and freshly made as you order. The "other grocery store " across the street seems to pale in comparison. We shop here regularly and yet to be disappointed. George always replies promptly if asked about any specific product I need. If you are looking for good south and North Indian groceries for great price,This is your place. It's will be crowded for sure but it's worth it when compare the price of many other Indian groceries around in Atlanta. They have good selections and great veggies as well. Most attractive thing is they have restaurant section where we can order the typical South Indian dishes and must say that it's tasty as hell. Try Masala dosa and Idily which is really amazing. Tea is also lovely here and moreover if you need some snacks they have hot ready made snacks. So I think you guys gonna love if you love Indian food. It will be bit weird because of the crowd, but it's fine though. Altogether it's one stop place for the Indian foods and groceries and I would recommend to all !! read more

Not sure of the name of the vendor selling at Cherians now but they are fabulous! The samosas, masala dhosa and onion bhaji(sp?) are outstanding and very reasonably priced. The people that run it are very polite and happy to explain what each thing for those not familiar with them. The actual store that is Cherians is pretty amazing too! Patel Brothers is good but this store is at least twice as big and their selection is impressive and the staff is more than willing to help if you have questions. If you want a unique experience and need a break from the Dekalb Farmers Market, this is your place! read more

I went for snacks, hoping for a much larger menu that I encountered. I tried the rasam, spicy masala dosa, and the samosa's. The soup was fine- nice texture, some veggies average or better. The samosa filling was mostly mashed potato, and it had been a while since they had seen a fryer. The outer layer was absorbing moisture- far below average overall. The dosa was served on a plastic tray with a small banana leaf as a plate. The dosa was all over the tray, and I cringe at the thought of the possibility that neither the trays or banana leaves are properly washed as my food was served laying on both. I much prefer a plate. The dosa filling and quality of the crepe was awesome. The grocery store was very clean, and well marketed. Far surpasses Patel Brothers in many ways. Will return for groceries, but still on the prowl for our next go-to Indian chaat place. Will not dine there again. read more

The staff arranged for a vehicle to drop us off at the nearest MARTA station, every time we 've been there, which is fantastic - saves the time and hassle of waiting for a bus. This Indian grocery store is much better in comparison to Patel Brothers. This grocery store is less crowded, and it has the same prices and deals as Patel Brothers does. The sugarcane juice here is very good, and the service is much better here. Overall, I would recommend this grocery store over Patel Brothers. read more

Excellent south indian grocery place. I'm glad the parking situation has changed so there it is an easier place to get to now. Years ago I used to keep driving past it but now it its more convenient to get to. You should still avoid rush hour times. read more

cherians is the best indians store ever! they have everything there i love coming ther because of the great service and they even give you a ride on their van if you need to get to a bus station or if you live near they will take you to your home. they did that for me when i came and they even helped me take my groceries inside my apartment! i would recomend for you to go here!! best indian store!!! better than anyone elses read more
