Overall good bbq. We went here with a big group on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was not full which was great for us! I loved how everyone went through the line and paid for themselves. I got the sliced brisket with two sides - baked beans and mac. The baked beans were DELICIOUS! They were not spicy or overly sweet. The mac was overall good but was a bit too peppery. The brisket was a tad dry but had some decent flavor. I also got some bologna to go for later. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. read more

I love BBQ. We went here after an OSU basketball game. There were 6 of us and they weren't crowded and we knew we were going to want to sit and talk for awhile. It started off kinda bad because they were out of several items and the sides were running really low and looked like they had been sitting there for awhile. I ended up getting a pulled pork sandwich and sour cream potato salad. The potato salad was amazing. The one bright spot of the meal, my pulled pork sandwich was full of fat chunks and didn't have much flavor. My husband had the brisket sandwich and said it was dried out and hard like it was the bottom of the tub and had sat there all day drying out. He also had baked beans and they were also dried and not very good. If we were there late at night I might have been more understanding but it was 5:30 pm on a Saturday night. One star for cleanliness and another for quick service. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich with a hot link as well. I received a sauce sandwich with some chopped meat mixed in. Honestly have no idea if they can cook a brisket because this could have been any kind of meat and I wouldn't have tasted it over the sauce. The sauce was ok but I prefer it in moderation and definitely not as the main course. What kind of BBQ place does that? Defeats the purpose of good bbq. The hot link wasn't much better. Flavor wasn't memorable and my knife had a difficult time getting through the casing. As to the knife...have you ever tried to eat a sauce sandwich with your hands? I did notice that they seem to have a number or regular customers and most ordered the burger. Wish I noticed this before ordering. Also, it was $13 for a sandwich and okra. Ordered through Grubhub. It was ok at best. I ordered the sliced brisket with beans and potato salad. Brisket was dry and blend. But had a good smoke flavor. Now the potato salad I did not like at all. Tastes like sweet relish. (the potato salad I'm used to is made with dill relish). The baked beans was in line. Not bad but not good. This was my first visit to Cherokee Strip. I ordered online and picked up my food from the drive up window, quick and easy. I got a chopped brisket and hot link sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The food was still warm when I got home and the sandwich was great, the mac and cheese was not. The macaroni noodles were so over cooked that they had taken on an almost jelly like consistency. Combined with with the cheese the whole mass had congealed into something resembling a wobbly jello mold. The texture was so disturbing it overshadowed the complete lack of any kind of flavor. Big prices small portions. Didn't have mac and cheese that night . One guy didn't know if the kids meal came with a side . He said I don't know ask him and pointed to a guy taking an orders . The same guy ended up bringing my child's food to the table . I guess he still doesn't know if it comes with a side . The meat is dry . Ribs hardly had any meat on them .the potatoes are bland . Stopped here for a meal on the way back from Enid to OKC. The reviews said "The best BBQ I've ever had!!"...which sounded safe to me. Well, my business associate told me to order ribs, and after asking the tall gentleman behind the counter (I assume he's the man in charge) what the best meat to get is, he said, "Definitely the ribs." I ordered a half-rack and a side of baked beans. Much to my chagrin, he pulled out an old slab of pig from food warmer, and began to slice the half racks for my associate and me. My associate then ordered some fried okra, to which the boss said, "I'll have to cook you up some fresh." No problem. We sat down and began to chew at what rivaled some of the toughest pork jerky I've ever eaten. I thought, "well, I don't want to offend the owner OR my associate, so I'll try to eat these." Couldn't do it...I said, "dude, we're gonna get soooo sick!" He replied, "How sick?"..... Me: "We'll be hugging to toilet for sure." Associate: "Well, we're in this together!" I then attempted to eat the beans...luke warm, from a large batch. Couldn't do it either. Bottom line: food that isn't cooked and held at a safe temperature isn't safe to eat. I'm not sure if this food HAD been hot. I AM sure that this food was dry. Perhaps I should've asked the owner for another stab at it, or if nothing else a refund. Either way, we left hungry and continued on our way. We've both concluded that the Okra is still sitting in the fryer.....at least WE never saw it. I don't know how food reviews are typically written...maybe this joint was just having a rough night. Who knows. What I can tell you, is that restaurants like Cherokee often only get one chance to make a friend or foe. I have opportunities to pass through this town often, but sadly, won't be back to this restaurant. This is what I got from the take out delivery. You can imagine the melted lunch box is toxic and it is a big deal. I called the restaurant and said I liked their restaurant before so I wanted to let them know this happened and it is not good for their business. I clarified I do not need them to send anything again. However, what I heard from the "manager" at 5pm is"this is not a big deal, it happens before. We opened the business since 1990, it will open for many many years. Lunch box melted is not a big deal, and I can eat any foods on it." So, judge by yourself. I liked this restaurant and I cared about their business, that's why I called them to tell them this happened. But what I got is he is the manager and I am making a fuss. Sides i had were good, only positive thing I can say. 5 ribs/2 sides dinner and drink over $17! I recently got married and use this barbecue place as my caterer. I went in a month before the wedding letting them know what I want and how I wanted it they were absolutely awesome! They came in before the wedding set everything up for me provided all of the warmers offered plates and utensils even though we had our own and to top it off they came back and took it all down for us so we didn't have to worry about a single thing.
