Came here for my sister's birthday dinner last fall and chose to stop by again while visiting her this weekend. If you're looking for a more sophisticated atmosphere in Stilly this is a good place to come. All the staff if very kind and helpful. The manager was checking on tables and collecting miscellaneous empty dishes. As far as vegetarian options go, very few are available. However, the kitchen is happy to modify options on the menu. I've gotten their blackened chicken alfredo-- minus the chicken, and I'd say it's the best alfredo I've ever had from a restaurant. My family is meat-eating so they got steaks and pork chops. They were just as fond of their food as I was mine. Additionally, our waitresses are always the sweetest and kindest. I won't be surprised if we come back next time we visit. read more

Had a party of 11 for an OSU graduation. Lots of out-of-town family. Despite making a reservation months in advance, they were told we had to be seated at separate tables. A 10 top table where they said they could not add 1 chair to either end, and a nearby booth. Two parties of 16 had come in (could they have been seated separately since they didn't have a reservation). There was another large area in the back but we could not sit there, yet another group of 12 came in 15 minutes later and were. Manager said a reservation is not a "guarantee". Quite disappointing. 2 people had to sit in a booth because of 1 seat and their lack of concern for a long ago made reservation. We brought nothing Bundt cakes in because the graduate is gluten free and despite the reservation not being honored they also wanted to charge $20 to put the cakes in the back until everyone finished eating. After suggesting they waive that because of the inconvenience , it was honored. The waiter was sweet. Food was okay. Manager was a jerk. read more

Been going here since they opened -- whenever back visiting family. While the ambiance has changed a bit -- it's much more casual now and very few women dining -- lots of table full of burly men -- the steaks are as consistent as ever. Plus the wine list is remarkably sophisticated. I had the big sirloin and it was delicious. I was very disappointed in the mashed potatoes and cannot recommend them. During the Special Olympics our friends both got gold medals so we took them to Freddie Paul's Steakhouse for a celebration meal... The staff was wonderful and the food was truly excellent.. I really wish i could give 5 stars but there was a bad problem with flies in the restaurant, constantly had to swish away from your plate and when i went to the salad bar some items had flies crawling on them, yuck.. if not for the flies would have been perfect... We do plan to stop by next year and hope the flies are evicted. read more

Service was great!! Had to ask them to add lettuce to their salad bar because all that was in there had brown edges! The blue cheese dressing was very bland. Had garlic mashed potatoes as a side that were very bland and very old. Fried catfish was not crispy at all. Not sure how they stay open! Their steaks are way over priced for the atmosphere. The burgers are the best thing they have. The bathrooms have been remodeled and are nice. The rest of the restaurant needs a major makeover. read more

Went with my husband and five year old daughter while visiting Stillwater. I was waiting a good steak and this place hit the mark for me. I got a ribeye and shared with my daughter and it was perfect. Our waiter was delightful and very considerate. I am allergic to wheat and understood my questions to ingredients. I really want to give this 4 stars, but we went for lunch and the service was not great. Waiter was nice but everything from the kitchen was slow, follow up was slow. My sister and I took our step mother out for lunch, we had heard how great the burgers are at Freddie Paul's. Based on those recommendations both my sister and mom proceeded to order the Pulverizer burger, as shown in picture, while I went with the Smokehouse brisket burger. The menu states steak fries are served with all burgers, however you can also get fried okra or something else. Mom got the okra and the rest came with fries that were not steak fries, but appeared to be hand sliced. Luke warm but not bad. Mom ate half of her sandwich and complained about the unripe tomatoes on her sandwich. My sister and I ate all of our despite the size, they were amazingly good. I did have to pull the brisket off the top of the burger as I couldn't get my big mouth around the sandwich. Brisket alone was really good. Overall we loved the food, the environment was interesting with all the dead animals looking at us from the rafters, but fix the service issues and I am back with more family and friends. read more

We had a party of 9 for a team holiday dinner. The waiter was friendly and attentive; refilling our drinks, checking up on us, and providing updates on our food. My husband got the bone-in ribeye medium rare. He said it was seasoned well with a nice sear. It was big -- probably 1.5"+ thick! He chose the salad bar but said he wished he'd gotten the Cesar like I did. According to him it wasn't bad, just small. I'm a PNW girl and miss seafood so I got the lobster Mac. The cavatappi pasta was cooked al dente, which I like. The flavor was okay, but would've been better with some shaved parmesan to cut the sweetness. The menu said it'd have lobster tail meat, which I only found one quarter-sized chunk, but there were shreds of lobster throughout. I know, who goes to a steakhouse for lobster Mac?! Well, obviously me because I love and miss seafood so much! Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals as we only needed 3 to-go boxes. The cabbage rolls were meh, but the Yard Bird appetizers were really good! Drinks were kinda weak. Overall, it was a nice meal. read more

Took my family and grandchildren to dinner here tonight. Have not been here in a long time in view of less than favorable past experiences. My son wanted to try it so I relented and went. To start off the appetizer was very good. The salad bar is usually good however tonight there was old lettuce and not much of that. The bin clearly had not been filled or tended to in quite some time. We asked the wait staff if they could put fresh lettuce in the bin. I ordered a sirloin steak medium rare. Cutting into the steak at the waitress's request revealed well done and at best medium well , not even close to what I ordered. Upon bringing a new steak in one hand and in her other hand was the sauteed mushrooms and onions . When she put the steak plate in front of me she poured the sauteed liquid bowl of liquid down my shoulder and down my arm! I simply looked at her and she acted as if nothing happened. The steak is supposed to be "choice" but I had to saw my way through with the serrated knife. I know this sounds cliche but it literally was like sawing through leather. It at least now was medium rare. We ordered the hand cut potato wedges which everyone at the table felt was terrible. My granddaughters had mac and cheese. They would not eat it . The adults at the table tasted it and clearly saw why , watery funny "cheese" sauce with GARLIC. What child wants garlic in their mac and cheese . It is probably the worst mac and cheese I have ever tasted. My steak was the worst steak that I can remember tasting. The waitress asked if we considered dessert. We said no thank you as we simply wanted to pay the bill and leave. This is without a doubt the worst "steak house" restaurant any of us has ever been to. We will not be going back , ever. read more

Ok... so my only complaint and star loss here is he food was kinda cool. Not cold but not hot like it sat for a little bit. So if you can invest in a heating lamp... do... Now to the food... the cheese fries are pretty darn good and well worth grabbing as an appetizer.. hey have just the right amount of seasoning but coulda used some bacon bits.. the Caesar salad was just ok so maybe try the salad bar. I got the cowboy ribeye and it was actually pretty darn good. I wish I woulda grabbed the garlic mash but I still wanted those fries. I was a little nervous to attend this restaurant due to the prices but I was very excited! We made a reservation as a party of 7 for a birthday. Good: our waiter was so great and made up for the many mistakes in food! the salad bar had a lot of options but nothing super exciting but overall was good. the timing of our meal coming out after the salad bar was perfect. The mac and cheese was some of the best restaurant mac and cheese i've ever had! Bad: the birthday girl had ordered a filet well done. when it first came out it was rare, we decided to just have it re fired instead of a whole steak and the second time it came out it was medium, we then asked for a whole new filet, third and final time the steak came out it was a sirloin not a filet. the meal ended up getting comped. another meal was cool not hot but not cold. the garlic mashed potatoes lacked the garlic. The dessert was probably the saddest part of our experience. I LOVE CREAM BRÛLÉE, this cream brûlée was separating and very liquified. My bill for two people who both had a steak and a dessert was over 100 dollars. I am the type of person who is going to pay good money for food, I want really good food. It was good and the people were friendly but it wasn't anything impressive. The atmosphere was cozy. We had the salad bar-lots of choices but nothing that stood out. I was hoping their tabouli would be better. Oh our table of four also split the crab stuffed mushrooms. Good. My steak and sweet potato was good too. I just love authentic flavorful places and felt like this place could use a little more effort. It seemed a little forced or like a chain restaurant. We stayed a while because we wanted to catch up with our cousins and we really talked and after we paid the bill they didn't pay attention to us any more and it would have been nice to get some water refills. After 1,500 miles of road trip we found ourselves in Stillwater OK. After finding crab legs on the online menu we settled on this location. Here is a summary & a detailed review. The good: a great selection of Bourbons. The lobster tail was fine. The wait staff recognized some of the problems and was likable as well as appropriately attentive. The bad: Entire reason we chose this place was for crab legs advertised on their website.... But they have apparently not served crab for at least this entire calendar year and it is not on their in store menu anywhere. Then I got a 3.5" disk of black, past well done burger on a 5" bun. The crab filling on the shrimp was the texture of won-ton filling. Gator bites that would have been hush puppies if there had been 1% less meat in them. Price on the awesome Bourbon was about 40% too high. Fries that tasted ok on the top of the pile, but were charcoal sticks on the bottom of the pile. Very long wait for bad food Details: The atmosphere was acceptable.... Our waitress was professional and good at her job. If it would not have been hard on her night I would have complained about the food. As it was we just paid our $130.00 bill plus tip.... Yes.... You read that right.... Paid our $130.00 bill and left extremely disappointed. The lobster tail was good. The burger and fries were all cooked past well done and really calling them burnt is not going too far. Black in color even. My burger was called the "Pulverizer".... Maybe the name set my expectations too high, but there was as much bun with no meat as there was with meat. One small piece of lettuce, a single slice from the end of a small tomato, and 2 rings from an onion. It was nearly uneatable. My wife got artichoke hearts and crab stuffed shrimp. Artichokes were ok..... not good or bad. The shrimp her cooked fine, but had you told me that the "crab" filling had been produced by Jello I would not have been shocked. The fries that cane with the lobster tail were just as burnt as my own. If it was not for the impressive Bourbon list and the waitress, I would have given it one star, but those 2 things earned it a second. We travel all over the country trying new locations... this may have been the most disappointing dinner we have been served in recent YEARS..... and the price point was definitely one of the more expensive.... This was the 2nd visit to this particular establishment. The first time was really good. The visit, however, was not so great. We were here for a business dinner with about 16 people or so. We were seated quickly, menus passed around for all to review and decide upon what to eat for dinner. We ordered some appetizers to munch on while socializing, with one another and placing our orders with our waitress. They brought the drinks out, but not for everyone they forgot a couple. We brought it to their attention and they got the missing drinks right away. We then placed our orders for our entree's and that is where everything went downhill from there. A little bit later the entree's started to come out and be placed on the table, well either their notes for whom ordered what was confusing and not clear but they had a tough time figuring out who had what and then some entrees were not 100% accurate. I had ordered a steak and requested it medium cooked, upon receiving my steak and cutting into it, all appeared perfect. However, further along, I discovered that the steak was cooked more like medium rare versus medium. Several other of my co-workers kind of experienced the same thing. Went on a Friday night and it wasn't overly crowded. Good atmosphere, and not too loud. Our server Johnathan was very attentive and responsive. He gave us the favorites on the menu and we decided to get the cowboy ribeye and the loaded brisket fries (2 people in our party). Amazing! Ribeye was large and flavorful. Sweet potato fries were good too. The loaded brisket fries can be a meal even though they are listed as an appetizer. Very good. Brisket has a smoke flavor and lots of brisket on the fries. Visited awhile before the self quarantine happened. I visited with my in-laws and my husband on a Saturday night. We were one of maybe 3 tables in the entire restaurant. The salad bar was fully stocked but the soup they had on offer did not look / smell fresh. We ordered cabbage rolls for the table and I wouldn't eat more than one bite - the flavor was awful, like the filling was a few days old. My husband and I split a filet and it was cooked ok but the flavor of the meat wasn't good. My husband covered his half in steak sauce and he NEVER does that if the steak itself is good. Honestly this meal was the last straw before we both completely cut meat out of our diets. The best part of the meal was our steak fries. The dining room seating is worn in and dated - our booth seating was completely caved in. Definitely won't be coming back if we can help it. read more

We have dined here few times but unfortunately tonight was disappointing. Most of all the servers timing and care for us was the issue. We each ordereda drink which took a long time to get to us, 10 minutes for two mixed drinks. They were in training. We each chose the salad bar which was just okay. We began to eat and about 3 minutes later our food came out! Timing is an issue with this server. No apologizing or anything. My food was cooked perfectly and a good temperature. My husbands steak was blue! So they did a re fire not a warm up thankfully. This one came out quick also. It was fine, the manager did not apologize either just said enjoy your meal. Then we were wondering why everyone had bread but us. So we had to find our server and get some.
