We have 4 people in the room and they keep leaving only 3 big towels. Not sure what the reason is. The breakfast is standard. Although the mini waffle maker is very neat. Eggs sometimes get replenished sometimes not. There's one set of laundry machines cost $2 each in quarters. The beds were fine enough that I slept on one for two nights and rather than have the housekeeping come in, I simply switched to the other for the other two nights. Breakfast was standard Hampton. Eggs or a pre-made omelet of some sort, a breakfast meat, breads for toasting, yogurts, fruit, juices and some pastries. The breakfast area was clean. Other than sharing a small plaza with a Denny's and a gas station/pizza place, there is nothing within walking distance. There is lots in downtown Marshall that's only a mile or two away. I mean this isn't the freaking Grand Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago nor is it the Trump Hotel. This is an American Best Value Inn. I think it says it all in the title of the hotel name. I travel a lot for work. I stay at all types of hotels. I will say this. This hotel is very clean. It has modern features. The staff are very nice. It's only $65 a night. What more do you want people? I mean, I could tell you stories of the Motel 6's, Super 8's, Quality Inn's and Days Inns that are not this modern and nice or this clean. The rates are at least 50% more in most cases. You truly are getting a good value at this hotel, and the big kicker is as I said above it's clean . No broken things or Bed Bugs. I gave this a four star rating and they deserve every last one. I can't tell you about the breakfast that they offer because I don't eat breakfast at any hotels so that doesn't factor into my decision. We had a very unfortunate experience getting to Hillsdale from Detroit in our rental car from Avis (nightmare is more accurate) and he was more than accommodating, polite, understanding and very helpful during the entire time. The hotel is in a pleasant and charming neighborhood in close proximity to Hillsdale College and downtown. The grounds are well kept and welcoming. Check in was a breeze and our room was perfect. Some of the rooms do share common bathrooms, but this was expected and fine with us. Back in the day most of Europe was like this and we were used to it. The common areas were clean and cozy, other guests were fun to chat with and the "guest Haas" feeling was welcoming. The continental breakfasts were light and fresh, more than adequate. Overall a wonderful stay at a reasonably priced Inn, the service was way above any place we have stayed in years.
