Nice atmosphere, your average bar menu with a very cheap happy hour and specials during the week. On Tuesdays all burgers are half price so for like seven bucks and 3 vodka drinks the bill was $16 total. The staff was great so that helped having a good time and experience on Thursdays through Sunday. I believe the boiler guard/Chi lounge opens in their adjacent bar room and bier garden.

    Great selection and prices

Back again for a holiday visit and things have been elevated! They do have hardwood floors on the bar side now, and the place was fairly hopping. The bartender was good, and for my meal I went with the Halls deluxe roast beef, sans caramelized onions with cottage cheese for my side. The jerk sauce on the sandwich had a good kick! There was Guinness on draft which pleased my husband. Cherry Street was nicely decorated for the holidays with a tall Christmas tree festooned with white lights. The staff appeared to be pretty good workers and well engaged, and it was refreshing to see them pushing in barstools and straightening things up when they had a moment. I believe it's under new ownership since the last time I was in and they apparently have a beer garden and bourbon bar with wines by the bottle next door now too, and a good menu of bourbons at Cherry Street, with really reasonable prices! Clientele ranged from 20s to 70s with some families with kids as well, and it was a good vibe. They had prime rib available every night, although no baked potatoes unless it was Friday or Saturday, and creative food specials. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

Dollar drinks every night. Cool atmosphere. Not classy, but great food...... a must visit if you're in Galesburg.

For a beverage, I went with vodka tonics, and they were good. Service was good as well. Our bartender/server apparently relocated from Sully's, which is now closed. Good vibe at Sidetrax, and though they closed around 5:00 on Christmas Eve we were able to get some food in our bellies and have some drinks in a comfortable atmosphere.

This was extremely comforting to find after hearing their restaurant on Henderson closed in '22. While I loved Sully's, the distance from campus made it a must to designate a driver or coordinate rides. The proximity to Knox makes Sidetrax and easy choice for college students looking for a solid meal, watch a game with a yeasty beverage, or night out. You'll also find many of the same menu items and some new ones! I'm eager to try some cheese curds and revisit the Sully's Reuben. If you like craft beer, there's a small fridge to the right of the bar that has several cans eager to be sampled. I recognize those visiting the 'burg may belittle Sidetrax to an average sports bar serving typical pub selections. While l can understand some of the quick takes and average reviews from Yelpers, I think it a bit dismissive. There's a reason the Bernardi brothers have over 20 successful years delivering what the people want. |TO BE CLEAR:| As a Knox student, I learned to eat wings at Sully's and the flavor profile of their buffalo sauce and honey mustard dressing (always got a side salad to make myself feel better) are *pure nostalgia*. I've traveled the nation sampling popular wing establishments from every corner of the 48 continuous--a self proclaimed wing aficionado on Yelp--but it all comes back to Sully's wings. "Mild, wild, screamers, nitro" were a regular mantra amongst my friend and I'm happy to say Sidetrax version do not disappoint!

In fifty-five years of flying, I have smelled enough jet fuel, 100 LL, and burnt coffee. Enough to see too many things change, but not on this day and this trip. Indeed, I'd dined at the Packinghouse back in 1986. They've been open since 1978, and I recognized it immediately. Then, as now, the place looks the same and the food was remarkable. My co-star and I sampled the inviting salad bar, and he opted for the broiled steak covered in mushrooms. I had the shrimp scampi, which was spectacular and enough for two normal people. Our only disappointment was that the highly touted bread pudding had been exhausted. Hence, we settled our stomachs on the chocolate lava conflagration that helped put things into perspective. The ambiance was an interesting mix of nostalgia and packing plant apparatus. Being a vegetarian, I wasn't offended by what happened there since 1912. The still-active railroad station is just across the street, which made sense for the building's original purpose. Our server was a local historian who enhanced our visit with her perspectives. Yes, the HOJO where I stayed in 1986 is long gone, but the Packinghouse is still doing what it does best. I must also mention that downtown Galesburg is an inviting anachronism reflecting the old America that I grew up with. There are interesting stores and other attractions. Galesburg is also home to Knox College, and was the venue for one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates back when debates were really debates and not Kabuki Dances.

Prime rib? about a 1/4 thick and well done, no matter how you ordered it. The cinnamon bread? Overcooked and burnt. The salad bar had wilted lettuce and was just sad overall. The side salads were actually better and we should have all just had that for dinner!! The service was amazingly slow. Like 45-60 minutes to get our meals when the restaurant was not that busy. My husband even spoke with the manager to tell them that it was just an awful meal. If you read the reviews over the last year, this is obviously a problem but they haven't fixed anything, so obviously they don't care. I would recommend finding another restaurant and not coming here.
