She never tries to upsell us any unnecessary services. Both children are always happy to go to their appointments with Dr Lee. As a mother, I know it is not easy to find a good dentist who cares. I don't write reviews often. Now my kids are grown, I think I can really say some thing about our experience with Dr. Lee. We are very happy to have Dr. Lee for our children's pediatric dentist. We started going to Dr. Lee when they were babies. Dr. Lee is so gentle and thorough. She is very knowledgable about her work, and reasonable about what need or not to be treated. My kids are always eager to get their routine check-ups and cleaning. That says something about the dentist and her staffs. UNETHICAL DENTIST Yesterday, my 21-mos son knocked out his primary (baby) teeth. Immediately I called the office of Cheryl Lee as it's the closest to my house and was recommended by my son's physician. My son was bleeding excessively, and we had about 30-mins to possibly re-insert the tooth (as part of the recommended First Aid by the American Dental Association.) The office refused to see him. Apparently, money is more important to Dr. Cheryl than her ethical obligation to her profession. Dr. Lee, please read this note from the "American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry very VERY carefully: "Because optimal treatment results follow immediate assessment and care, dentists have an ethical obligation to ensure that reasonable arrangements for emergency dental care are available." -- Dent 2007;29(suppl):21 Not only the office refused to see him and by doing so failed to deliver on her ethical obligation, BUT also wanted to conduct a quick exit survey; "Who referred you, how did you hear about us". With this kind of ethics, I would steer far far away from this practice when seeking the dental care of our little loved ones. read more

So happy we found Dr. Cheryl Lee. Our previous pediatric dentist recommended some very expensive procedures on my son, they seemed a little over the top so we decided to bring him to Dr. Lee for a second opinion. She said his teeth were in great shape and the procedures were not necessary. It is unfortunate that there are many dentists out there who recommend work just to get your (and the insurance company's money) we are glad Dr. Lee is very honest and ethical. On another note, her office and demeanor are very child friendly. She even has a video monitor on the ceiling of the treatment chair to keep kids occupied during their checkups or procedures. I HIGHLY recommend this honest and efficient pediatric dentist! :) read more

This review is long overdue. I brought my daughter here for her very first dental experience. If you read what a first visit is supposed to be like (according to their website) "Before the dental examination begins, Dr. Lee would like to spend time talking with you to learn more about your child and concerns you may have about your child's dental health . She will explain common dental tools and procedures to your child using more child-friendly words. Dr. Lee and all staff are dedicated to making your child's first and every dental visit as pleasant as possible." I had no issues with the receptionist or the waiting room, they were both fine. What I do have a problem with is not living up to what you say you will do. See that paragraph up there that I pasted from their website? None of that happened for us. In fact the whole page on what a first visit will be like was totally fictitious! The person cleaning her teeth pretty much started cleaning right away, pausing only to ask what my daughter wanted to watch. No explanation, no introduction to tools or procedures, no child friendly words. Luckily my daughter did great with me sitting next to her holding her hand. We did not meet Dr Lee until afterwards. She was fine as well, not great, but ok. Two stars might seem harsh, but I think it's well deserved. They failed to deliver what they said they would, and it was a complete disappointment. read more

(4.5 stars) Dr. Cheryl Lee is a great pediatric dentist. We decided to give her a try after hearing glowing reviews from our friends with young children as well. Dr. Lee definitely didn't disappoint. Upon entering the reception/seating area, we were greeted with a beautiful aquarium tank, toys and books to keep the little ones occupied while we wait. The receptionist/assistants were all very friendly and led us into the exam area that was also quite child friendly. On the ceiling there were monitors playing either Dora The Explorer or Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs for the patients. Although my 2-yr old son did refuse to lie on the chair, we managed to get the examination done while having him on my lap and Dr. Lee's lap. She was very patient to explain what she was about to do, demonstrate it on my hands to show that it doesn't hurt, and then proceed slowly so that my son would be as comfortable as he can be. My son started out crying because he was scared, but then ended up with the exam with flying colors (no tears, and letting the doc do her thing). We even got a prize for doing well and lots of positive encouragement from staff and the doctor. It's been about two weeks since our second routine visit and my son still remembers that Dr. Lee brushed his teeth with bubble gum flavored toothpaste and taught him how to floss. He's been flossing daily since. Overall, I would recommend it for all parents with little ones. read more

It's times like this that I truly wish there was a ZERO star option... Don't be fooled by their website, the picture of the fancy waiting room, and most importantly the content drafted to give you the impression the staff is caring and patient. The initial consultation will be rehearsed, where they will make countless false promises. We took our 2 yr old son there for his first dental experience and he is now terrified of any dentist thanks to "Dr" Lee and her staff (using the term Dr loosely here). The consultation went fine as I mentioned above, they appeared to be caring and patient and explicitly told us they would explain anything and everything they do to our son during the next appointment where he needed a few fillings. Well the day came for his fillings and we arrive a few minutes early, however, we are told they are running behind. Which is fine since this is somewhat standard operating procedure at some places when it comes to working w/ children. After approximately 30 mins of waiting in their fancy waiting room, they were ready for us. They rushed us into the room and immediately sat my son in the chair and prepped him without a single word of what they were doing. At this point he is a little scared but both my wife and I try to comfort him. Finally Dr Lee comes in and begins prodding his mouth, once again without any explanation or introduction of tools or what she was doing. Kids usually react well when you talk to them and explain things that may be a bit scarey at first, well everything we discussed at the consultation went out the door likely because they were running late and/or they are just insensitive people. At one point our son began crying and reached for the suction instrument (having no idea what it was since they never introduced it, before just sticking it in his mouth), so out came the dreaded papoose board. For those that don't know what it is, google image it as it's quite an invention. They begin to strap him into this board fashioned like a straight jacket "for his own safety" even though all he did was reach up naturally and see what the suction tool was that was making odd noises hanging out of his mouth. My wife and I were literally paralyzed for the next agonizing few minutes as they had him strapped in the board and he was bawling the entire time. We decided at that point it was a lost cause and there was no fixing this session, so we asked them to stop working on him. Lastly, the only child like reference Dr Lee made during this entire time was "buggies are going to go into your mouth", to my son...how lovely eh? Sorry for the lengthy review but I would hate for any parent to go through what me and my wife did. We had to spend a lot of time explaining things over again to our son and work to build up his confidence and trust in doctors after this incident. Trust me, find another dentist for your child. My experience with Dr Lee was awful. Both my kids had extensive work to be done, and I was hoping that she would be the right dentist for us. I felt like leaving after the first visit- but made the mistake of staying. Each visit made my conviction stronger that she was not the right dentist for my children. She does not understand how to properly and gently speak with parents or kids. Infact- there were several times that she had the audacity of actually screaming at my children. Enough is enough. Two years ago, our two-year-old fell and bumped his front teeth. His tooth turned grey so we took him to Cheryl Lee. My son was very uncomfortable and crying and screaming even with all the toys and kids TV. The first x-ray did not come out well, so the assistant took another one, which was good. At the end, the dentist wanted to do a teeth-cleaning on him despite his crying. She said, "we can do it, as long as you don't mind him crying". We did mind, and so we told her we'd do it next time. When it was time to pay, the receptionist charged us for two x-rays (two different procedure code), claiming the second type of x-ray was designed to capture the root of the tooth, the first one was not. We thought the two x-ray looked the same to us, but why would they be "two different types"? If they were indeed two different types, knowing they wanted to capture the image of the root, why did she take the first one, to begin with? We asked to speak to Dr Lee to obtain clarification, then the assistant said she would waive the second x-ray fee. We have switched dentist ever since. My son had worse accident on his teeth last year and I love how our new dentist handled the situation. read more

We've seen Dr. Lee several times and she's always been very friendly and patient with my kids. She has a very kind and gentle demeanor. The office is also very kid-friendly--toys in the waiting room, and tv on the ceiling above the cleaning chair. One of her assistants could be a little more patient though. read more

Dr. Cheryl Lee and their office is set-up to keep young kids fascinated while engaging in not-so-fun dental work. She is very gentle with the kids and can work in tiny mouths. The kids actually look forward to going back --checking out the Nemo like fish tank and watching a new DVD (up above the patient chair). Both my son and daughter have had major dental work (longer than 45 min) and have done well with their visits. The staff is very cheerful. read more

I bring both of my girls to Dr. Lee. They are both under the age of 5 and both have had cleanings and a cavity filled. Dr. Lee is great during cleanings, keeping the kids calm and distracted (Dora on the ceiling!). During the fillings, both girls had to be restrained on a papoose board (standard practice with little ones who don't understand that they have to lie still) and Dr. Lee was amazingly fast. Despite the trauma of their fillings, both girls are fine with going back for cleanings. The waiting area is great for the kids: aquarium, toys, and books. The staff is friendly and always greet the children by name. read more

Dr. Lee and her staff were well trained in how to handle a difficult/scared child, which is what my son was. We had previously taken him to another pediatric dentist where his/our experience was less than positive. Dr. Lee and her staff knew how to handle my son, to work WITH him, to try and make him feel more comfortable. He barely cried! And my younger son didn't cry AT ALL. read more

I cannot say enough how much appreciate the professional service provided by Dr. Lee. 1. Dr. Lee is extremely nice and professional. when communicating with parents regarding the treatment solution, she is used to talk from the view point of parents instead of the profit-driven, and she usually says 'if he/she is my kid, I'd choose...', this makes me fell very warm and comfortable. 2. Dr. Lee is very responsible, when I have critical questions for her via e-mail, she is so accountable and call me back in a very short time and clarify in very detail. I'd really appreciate that. 3. We just moved to the Bay area this summer. My daughter had a very bad experience with her previous dentist, so I wanted to find a dentist who specializes in seeing children. While we were shopping around for a good pediatric dentist, one of my husband's colleagues mentioned Dr. Lee's name to us. As a first step, we browsed Dr. Lee's website, which was very informative. Then another parent from my daughter's school also recommended Dr. Lee. So I went ahead and called for an appointment.. It was hard to drag my daughter to the appointment. But once we arrived, we were greeted with very friendly staff, and a beautiful aquarium at the waiting area. It had a calming effect on my daughter. Most importantly, Dr. Lee was very nice and patient with my daughter. Throughout the process, she talked gently to my daughter, and made her feel at ease. Since I prefer to be at my daughter's side, Dr. Lee also explained the procedure to me, without any jargon. I really appreciated that.. To distract the children, Dr. Lee's office also has several flat screens above the dental chairs, playing age-appropriate DVDs through different channels. While my daughter and I watched "Finding Nemo", Dr. Lee and her staff got the necessary work done very professionally. We just relocated to this area from abroad. Having been occupied in packing and moving, we unfortunately overlooked that my 7-year-old grandchild had bad tooth cavities. Now his terrible tooth ache urged us to find a pediatric dentist for him ASAP. We were recommended to see Dr. Lee by a local dentist for adults, who told us that her own kids were patients of Dr. Lee's. The receptionist made great effort to fit my grandchild into Dr. Lee's busy schedule. So far he has had five office visits, covering things like filling, root canal and extraction. Upon arriving, I found that they have a clean and modern environment as well as friendly and knowledgeable staff. Before the treatment began, Dr. Lee discussed the procedures with us using X-rays, trying her best to prioritize the treatment for the teeth that needed immediate attention, and also to maximize the insurance coverage. The dental work that followed showed her exceptional expertise and skills. She tried her best to make the kid comfortable and at ease. She even noticed and adjusted the loudness of the headphones (for kid to watch the TV on the ceiling) so his ears wouldn't get hurt. After a major procedure, she or her staff would call us at home to check if the kid was OK. No dentists have ever done that as far as we can recall. I would happily recommend Dr. Lee to other kid patients who also need dental care. read more

Dr. Cheryl Lee is the best pediatric dentist! My kids love Dr. Lee so much, they would cheer every time they had an appointment to visit her office. Our pediatrician referred us to Dr. Lee over a year ago. She was highly recommended by the Parents Network from my work place, too. My daughter was already four years old and had not seen a dentist. I did not make an appointment earlier because I was not sure how my daughter, who was a very sensitive child, would cooperate in a dentist's office. A few months ago, my daughter had an accident in the playground. She fell off a bench and hit her mouth. It was a frightening moment to see her bleeding from the mouth and screaming for help. I called Dr. Lee's office and they had an appointment for us right away. When we arrived in the office, my daughter was in tears because of the pain. I was very thankful that Dr. Lee understood my daughter's fear toward doctors. We liked her warm and mellow manners immediately. She showed my daughter how to have a check-up by looking at the Pooh Bear's teeth. She showed her the tools and other gadgets they used in the dentist's office, and explained everything to her very patiently. She was very gentle and thorough when checking her teeth. The staff was also wonderful. It was a relief for both my husband and I to see how Dr. Lee handled our emergency in a calm and positive way. Since then, my daughter went back for a follow up and twice for teeth cleaning. Even my three years old son had a first dental check-up last month, and he was proud of it! Every visit to Dr. Lee's office seemed like a joyful field trip for the kids. They watched their favorite Thomas Tank Engine or Dora movie while having teeth cleaned. They got gift bags and picked up toys and stickers before they went home. The receptionist and the hygienists were always friendly and cheerful. We took our daughter (3 years old) to Dr. Cheryl Lee for her very first time. The receptionist and staff are VERY friendly and do their best to make sure the little ones feel secure and safe. I was allowed to sit with my daughter and hold her hand throughout it all which i think helped her not be so afraid. They have a TV screen above the dentist chair so you can have the option to have it turned on to help distract child. (they ask you beforehand if they should turn it on becuase they're aware some parents don't like their kids to watch TV). My daughter watched Dora the Explorer while they cleaned her teeth. one of the staff (Emily) was very good in talking with my daughter and making encouraging comments thorughout the whole cleaning. Dr. Lee was very patient too when examining as well and did a great job explaining what she was doing beforehand. Overall a very good experience! They of course give a small toy afterwards as well. :) read more

My son just had his first dental appointment with Dr. Lee, and it was an outstanding and positive experience. Mimi, their receptionist, was super warm and welcoming. The waiting room had a nice selection of toys as well as a cool aquarium, which definitely caught my son's attention. Emily, the dental assistant, did a great job introducing my son to the chair, showing him the lights, giving him the choice of toothpaste flavors, etc. She was SO patient when he started to freak out and took the time to let him adjust to the new experience. He cried a little bit, and she was quick to ask if I was okay with the tears, which I was. (Really, who doesn't expect that their child will cry at the first dental appointment?) Dr. Lee (or Dr. Cheryl to her child patients) came over and introduced herself, carefully checked my son's teeth, and then gave me some helpful hints for ongoing dental health. On seeing that my son had "adopted" an office Donald Duck stuffed animal, she even checked Donald's teeth first to show my son how the dentist works. Overall, I was hugely impressed with how child-centered the entire office was, and how much they took the time to explain things carefully to both me and my son. Dr. Cheryl Lee is a good dentist. Her office is child friendly and have all modern equipments. But she didn't give me right advice. She wanted to extract 2 teeth of my child and another dentist did not think that is necessary. She is good for doing the preventive cleanings but for other procedure it is good to take second opinion. read more

We've known Dr. Lee since our boys were toddlers, now they are soon on the way to college. There are a lot of dentists in the area we live, but we are willing to drive extra miles to go to see her. She is not only highly skilled, but also very personable. She loves and cares for all the kids she takes care of. During a normal teeth cleaning visit, Dr. Lee found that our younger boy had a growth under the tongue. She suggested us to take him to see an oral doctor. I was so busy with work, and forgot about it. A few weeks later, she called to follow up, and reminded me. Luckily the growth was gone. I was still a bit worried, so took him to see Dr. Lee to make sure it was OK. She checked and said it was fine. I was supposed to pay co-pay, but Dr. Lee kindly waived it. Recently, our older son had a terrible football injury. It was on a weekend, I was so desperate and called Dr. Lee to help me find an oral surgeon. She was on the road with her family, but was willing to set aside her family business and helped me out. Our whole family was grateful. We would like to share our gratitude with the readers. read more
