February 2025 I was chewing macadamia nuts when something cracked. One of my root canal teeth broke off at the gum line and was not retrievable. Had to have an extraction and then an implant done. Talk to my next door neighbor and his girlfriend had had implants done and I smile dental in Sunnyvale. First of three implants done by Dr Kimberly Kim of I smile dental. State of the art facilities for dental extraction,bone marrow transplant, abutment construction, and fitting of new implant tooth. Main complaint is that some of the state-of-the-art techniques were still experimental and not necessarily easy to do pricing varied from $4,000 to $9,000 per tooth depending on location and size of tooth. My dental insurance would cover $2,000 per year in implant cost. Each implant requires four visits. Visit one is extraction and bone marrow transplant to extracted area. This needs to be done ASAP to minimize gum infection. Visit 2 3 months later is abutment where they put him micro screw inside the base of the enamel. Visit 3 3 months later is fitting and putting on temporary tooth. Visit 4 is putting in the permanent tooth. Three successful implants performed here on my three root canal teeth. I had a sudden toothache over the weekend while my primary dentist was traveling, so I visited iSmile as an alternative. While the appointment process was smooth and I was able to get an immediate visit, the actual experience with Dr. Park was incredibly concerning. After the assistant efficiently took three X-rays of my left side (upper and lower), Dr. Park came in and immediately asked about the pain on my "right" side. I politely corrected her, but she seemed confused and continued to mention the right side. When she began the exam, she started checking my lower teeth--I had to remind her multiple times that the pain was in my upper teeth. The confusion continued when she couldn't seem to operate the computer to find my X-rays, even suggesting I needed more taken until I reminded her we had just finished three. Once she finally located the correct slides, she simply pressed on the tooth and declared I needed a root canal. When I asked what the X-ray showed to justify such a major procedure, she told me, "Something X-rays can't show now, but you need a root canal." If a dentist cannot distinguish between left and right or upper and lower jaws, I cannot trust them with my dental health. I would strongly advise against seeing Dr. Park. I have already put this office on my "black list" and will never return. After checking other Yelp comments, I see tons of other one-star reviews echoing similar frustrations. The management seriously needs to pay attention to these complaints and focus on major improvements. I strongly suggest everyone avoid iSmile. I came here because they had the best reviews out of what my insurance covers. I need an oral surgery procedure done. I arrived a few minutes before my 10:30a.m. appointment, was checked in quickly and told I would have a copay which I was shocked by because I never have had a co-pay with my dental insurance before but I figured I would take that up with my insurance company. I sat in the waiting room, which was busy but it seemed everyone was being helped quickly. I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes. I finally got up and told the same receptionist that I needed to leave. She asked for my name and date of birth to see why I wasn't called back. After looking up my information she had no real explanation and just said that she would cancel my appointment and let the manager know and she thinks the periodontal department was probably running behind. I was on my way to the Pride parade when I realized one of my fillings had come loose. Within minutes, I was searching for a dentist who was open on the weekend. Luckily, I found this office--and even better, they accepted my insurance. I booked an appointment online, and just two minutes later I received a text confirming my appointment, followed by a phone call. The entire process was incredibly efficient. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who confirmed that my insurance was in network. I was brought back to a room shortly after. I called them on a Sunday and explained to the staff prior to going that I had an emergency situation. I chipped my tooth and asked if they could fix it. The person over the phone assured me that the dentist on staff could fix it. Upon arrival, the dentist looked at my tooth and told me that she's incapable of fixing my tooth because all of the times she had ever done that for other patients it had come off the same day. I have a appointment 6/14 at 11am the Dentist told me to take medication before my root canal, Driving back home I remember about the medication because the desk didn't mention it while scheduling my root canal so I call the office to send the medication to my pharmacy, He ask my name and confirm the pharmacy address he said his gonna send it to that location. So I waited 5hrs before picking up the medication I want it to be ready so I don't have to wait at the pharmcy. 4pm I'm at the pharmcy they can't see my name or order, so I called the office to check my the medication if they send it and she said there's no order about the medication. I don't know if I should get mad about the guy telling me he's gonna send the medication to the pharmcy and confirming the address. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with ISmile Dental has been extremely disappointing and costly. I had two major procedures done there, and both were performed improperly. First, a crown was installed incorrectly, leaving part of the tooth exposed. This required the entire crown to be redone. Second--and far worse--the root canal and crown they completed less than two years ago became infected due to poor workmanship. I've now been told the tooth cannot be saved and must be extracted, followed by an implant that will cost me $7,000-$10,000 out of pocket. When I reached out to ISmile Dental's management hoping they would take responsibility or offer real support, they declined to help fix any of the issues. The ownership reviewed my case and the only offer was a $68 refund, which was just my copay, despite the nearly $2,000 I paid for the original work and the severe consequences of their mistakes. This experience has caused me unnecessary pain, stress, and a significant financial burden -- all of which could have been avoided with proper care and accountability. Based on what I went through, I strongly recommend that future patients exercise caution and consider other dental providers. read more

During my recent visit to your office, the dentist briefly mentioned Invisalign and said she would provide more information. However, when I approached the front desk, I was unexpectedly handed what appeared to be a treatment contract--without any prior explanation or consultation. I asked the first front desk staff member for clarification, and he brought over another employee--slim, glasses, possibly of Asian descent--who was stationed between the two monitors. What followed was one of the most unprofessional and condescending experiences I've had at a medical office. When I asked why the document didn't include any information regarding my insurance, I was told I had to sign it first before they could verify coverage. I questioned what exactly I would be signing, and he insisted it was only for insurance verification. I pointed out that the form read like a contract for treatment. He again claimed it was just for insurance, and when I asked where that was stated, he casually said, "Probably in the fine print somewhere. There are three pages." When I requested a copy to review before signing, he refused--saying I couldn't have one unless I signed it. I managed to briefly review the third page anyway. The fine print clearly stated. "My dentist has answered all questions to my satisfaction. I understand I am accepting financial obligation by signing this form." I brought this up, and instead of clarifying, he shrugged and said, "You don't have to sign it if you don't want to." I replied that I wouldn't be signing something I didn't fully understand. At that point, he physically grabbed the paper from beneath my hand and walked off without another word. This conduct was aggressive, dismissive, and frankly, predatory. It's easy to imagine a more vulnerable patient--an elderly person, for example--being misled into signing something they don't understand, under pressure and without transparency. If the staff member wasn't trained or familiar with the document, he should have said so instead of doubling down with misleading and evasive answers. His hostility when questioned was completely uncalled for. Based on this experience, I will be seeking care elsewhere, and I intend to share this incident across relevant platforms to caution others. I regret not catching his name, but I hope you take this feedback seriously and investigate the behavior of your staff accordingly. read more

I came here once while I was looking for new dentists after switching insurance for a teeth cleaning. It's in a plaza on el Camino. Overall the experience felt extremely rushed, the dentist did my teeth cleaning standing looking over me into my mouth which was a bit unconventional but I can't complain about the process. Once I found out my original dentist still accepted my insurance I went back to them. It's been 2+ years now since I've visited them and they keep calling me, every time i ask them to remove me from the mailing list, or I told them I moved THEY STILL KEEP CALLING ME! This review is just for the office experience. I've had multiple occasions of time being wasted waiting for doctors. I had my wisdom teeth consultation and once again the doctor was running late and I was not notified. I sat in the waiting room for 15 minutes after checking in before inquiring on how late the doctor was running. The front desk advised that the doctor was running late and went to check on how much longer it would take. Waiting 30 minutes for an appointment is ridiculous. This is the 2nd time I've had my time wasted waiting for a doctor when I could have been advised. (The appointment was my rescheduled date because the previous date I had to wait 45 minutes just to be told it would be another 30 minute wait.). The front desk already knew the doctor was running late so they could have called me to inform or even inform me when I first checked in. After the consultation with Dr. Gomez, I was advised to sit in the waiting room again to be called. I sat for another 15 minutes before I went up to the front ask to see if I was still waiting to be called. A patient who came in after me for the same wisdom teeth consultation was seen, sat in the waiting room after me, & was called to the front desk before me even though I had been waiting. The office has no problem calling multiple times a day to schedule appointments but cannot even call to advise of tardiness. read more

I had been with this clinic long enough to feel compelled to write this review. Don't be fooled by the front desk's surface-level friendliness at check-in. That is not where real issues get resolved. If you stay with this clinic long enough, you will eventually encounter a serious problem that requires dealing with the office manager, and at that point the "nice" experience quickly turns into a nightmare. The clinic manager is inexperienced, arrogant, and completely incapable of addressing patient concerns. Instead of providing clear answers or solutions, issues are routinely dismissed in the hope that patients will get tired, give up, and go away. Escalating issues to higher manager is pointless. The response from her is the same dismissive behavior, with no concern for patient satisfaction or the clinic's reputation. The entire approach relies on the assumption that most patients will simply pay, comply, and not push back. I have witnessed multiple patients being very angry at the front desk. Even the dentists and dental assistants are unhappy here. Staff have complained to me and to my friends, who are also patients, about the office's management. Stay away if you don't want a $900 surprise 14 months later. I'm writing this because I don't want anyone else to go through the nightmare I'm dealing with at iSmile Sunnyvale. I had a major procedure here in late 2024 and paid exactly what they told me I owed on the day of surgery. I even went back three different times in 2025 for checkups, and every single time the front desk told me my balance was $0. Then, out of nowhere in January 2026--over a year later--they hit me with a bill for $900.90. When I asked how this was even possible, they admitted that their "in-office system" had an error and they just "left the claim open" for 14 months. Because they messed up their own paperwork for over a year, I'm now stuck in a mess: Insurance won't help: Delta Dental won't even look at the case because iSmile waited so long that the 180-day deadline is way past. HSA is messed up: I can't even use my HSA funds from the year the surgery actually happened. No warning: They charged me $100 for a "consultation" but didn't bother to check with my insurance first (pre-determination) to see what would be covered. It feels completely predatory to tell a patient they owe nothing for a year and then demand a huge payment once it's too late to fix the insurance side.
