I've been taking my vehicles here for the past six years since I moved to SOMD. These guys are always honest and that's a big deal to me. In 11/21 I had a Heater Core replaced $ HVAC box/housing replaced . I checked my heater on 9/24, no heat! In 2/22 I had an oil change & tire rotation. Kept hearing squeaking noise from my front tires, lug nuts loose on both front tires. I contacted the shop & was called a racist by a Ms Abell who advised me that she dated a black man. Racist have power to deny, I am not in that position to deny. I took a step further & contacted Gary, owner/manager only to be told that I called his worker a racist & refused to deal with me, only later to call back to say they would take a look at it! I didn't feel comfortable letting them touch my car again. So I took it to a very reliable mechanic, who tightened the lug Nuts. Today I again contacted Gary regarding the $1345 heat job only to be treated very rude, disrespected & talked down to! He was saying things that I know that I didn't say & talking over me. As a business man & his concerns about his work product, as well as the community, he should stand behind their work. Didn't ask me if I was okay, just pure evil hate. I-thought that this was a reputable auto shop until there is a problem with their work product. They don't stand behind their work. I needed them to look at a slow leak in two of my tires that was under warranty. They used every excuse possible to not do the work. I made several trips there and wasted hours of my time. Wayne at the front desk spoke to me in a condescending and annoyed tone the entire time. I ended up taking it to the dealership who fixed it immediately. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

I just purchased four tires and had them installed at Cheseldine Tire & Auto. Being relatively new to this area, I chose this location because of its closeness to my home and because I'm familiar with the Goodyear Tire brand. Everything about my experience was great with no anxiety on my part. I worked with Gary who was able to answer my questions and schedule me for installation. Installation was pretty quick I think (I was out in just less than 2 hours). Being from PG County in MD, I am used to waiting around for what seems like forever for services such as these. So I was pleased with the quickness of the install (and this included wheel balancing too). Staff here are knowledgable and more importantly, friendly! No problems with the actual maintenance performed on my vehicle, but had an issue with their technician damaging windshield tint. Called up to see if we could agree on them fixing damage they directly caused and was met with a belligerent response. Detailed description is that I had an old oil service sticker on an aftermarket tint strip that I had left on because I knew it would likely damage the tint. Cheseldine technician decided to remove the old sticker without asking me about it and ripped a big hole in the tint. Never contacted me before risking the damage and didn't disclose the damage on pick up. As a matter of fact, he had placed a new sticker over the damage to disguise it. Fine, stuff happens and they could have made it right. I explained the sequence of events to the manager and he was downright dismissive and rude telling me that because it wasn't "malicious" there was no responsibility for the business to repair the damage. After I finally got him to stop interrupting me long enough to explain my position, he still insisted that his shop bore no responsibility despite the fact that it arrived undamaged and was returned to my custody with ruined tint. He insisted his technician "had to" remove the old sticker to do his job, sorry J-O-B as he snidely put it. Sorry, but no that's not part of the required maintenance and if you know it's likely to cause damage but still think you have to do it, you contact the customer first. It's a courtesy sticker and he could have left it, asked me if I cared, or owned up when it went wrong. None of those things happened. The stubborn refusal to accept responsibility for direct consequences of their own actions and the resulting rude handling of the interaction should be known to future customers in case they might also be mistreated in a similar manner. It's too bad, as there were many other good things about this shop, but not enough to make it worthwhile to have my property or myself treated like that. read more

when my car rolled out of the Cheseldine car wash it had a flat tire! without any discussion, the manager, Phillip immediately tested, moved & put on my spare! he called Gary, at Cheseldine Tire & in less than 3 hours my tire was replaced, spare put back in & Get This! they never asked for my full name OR any money! read more

Things change. A long time ago, Cheseldine had super-low prices on everything, and fantastic customer service. After being around for a while, the prices have gone up - the price of garage work I asked about is higher than that of a dealership. More importantly, I don't know if I can trust them. After picking up my car from an oil change, I had a new hole in a hose in my air conditioning system. I took it back to Cheseldine to ask about it, and got the run-around. Maybe it wasn't them, maybe a piece of gravel from their lot flew up and struck it, or maybe it was a "mistake". But I know I don't have the same feeling of comfort, trust, and familiarity I once had. Sorry, guys - I'm taking my decade-plus history of business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely terrible service! I had an appointment for 9:15am. I was greeted by a gentleman that seemed bothered to have to look up from his phone and seemed to have no idea why I was there. After waiting 30 minutes they pulled my vehicle inside and came out to demand I pay cash for their service. I walked to the nearest ATM and was back in about 7 minutes. They had pulled my vehicle back out and told me it was my fault for not having cash (even though this was never mentioned when my appointment was set). They proceeded to take in 2 other vehicles that came in after me. Finally, 90 minutes after my appointment time, they took my vehicle in. They then demanded payment before performing my service. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a service shop and I will never return. read more

Would not recommend at all. Brought my car in for a suspected bent rim as the car was wobbling down the road. 5 trips later and still no fix and terrible customer service. Trip 1: I drove there and Cheseldine took a look and determined I needed new front tires. They didn't have them so they ordered them. Trip 2: Cheseldine called and said my tires were ready. I drove there and they were replaced. I drive off the lot and my car is still wobbling. Trip 3: I drove back and Cheseldine says I also need rear tires. They put my spare on and the bad tire in the trunk. The wobbling stops. Trip 4: Cheseldine calls and say my tires are ready. I get there, they say they'll get me right in. I wait an hour, then they tell me they actually don't have my tires. I drove off the lot and my car is wobbly again. Trip 5: I turn right around and tell them they just put the bad tire back on my car. Cheseldine swaps out the tire. At this point I tell them this exact story. They proceed to tell me "you don't know what kind of day we've had. If you knew, you'd understand. If you don't want tires let me know." So here I am 5 trips later, wrongly diagnosed, managed to get me to order 4 tires, tell me I should understand, and still driving around on a donut. read more

Horrible repairs! They took weeks to get parts, put cheap parts on, glued interior pieces together with glue that melts due to interior heat, brakes still squeak because they used cheap pads, they messed up the wiring and car alarm goes off randomly. I have been using Cheseldine exclusively for 4 years now. They have done good work but overpriced. They tell me they are half the price of their competitors. I'll do the research and repost. Jeez, I want to list all of my issues but I subscribe to the notion that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all. So I'll keep it short (ish) and well, honest. And it's Yelp, so here goes. They do the work for the price they quote you. I have never had any issue with the quality of work. If you get what you pay for, this the best around. . I had our vehicles inspected here when we moved to MD. Yes, had to pay for them to be reinspected. They dont remove window tint. shoot, rambling again. I wanted to keep it short and to the point. I left off soooo much.... Not to mention the LOOOOOOOOONG wait. I always have to wait between three and eight hours. Deleted content.. I've spent over 15k exclusively your shop. I've used these folks for over 15 years! They have always provided excellent service and will tell you if the problem is something that they are not best suited to address. I have multiple addresses and sometimes have to use another garage in a pinch! By comparison, Cheseldine's pricing is competitive, if not better, than the other garage in VA. I am new to the Southern Maryland area and I work in the Procurement field, so naturally I had to shop around when it came to pricing out 4 new tires for my Mazda 6. As it urns out the 19" all weather performance tires can get pretty expensive. I literally called 6 different places, received pricing, checked coupons, checked warranty and repair info ... and Cheseldine Tire was hands down the best rate and warranty of anyone in the area. I saved several hundred dollars and they were able to order tires and install next day immediately. I have no complaints at all, everyone was so nice and friendly, they did great work, and I was off that spare tire in no time and back on the road safely. I would highly recommend! read more

I was recommended to Cheseldine when we first moved to Maryland. Since then I've never had a problem, and was always grateful to be able to schedule maintenance when convenient for me. HOWEVER I had a recent experience which really makes me appreciate Gary and his team. We had a brake problem in our 03 Excursion, we had it into the Leonardtown location and thought everything was good. Three days later while in Waldorf my wife taking my daughter to Philadelphia for summer semester (loaded with her dorm gear)... the other side brake locks up and its un-driveable. Gary went out of his way to get the vehicle to another shop and get it fixed within 2 hours!! Both Gary and the owner of the other shop called my wife that evening to make sure she was OK. I have problems trusting shops with my car. After speaking on the phone with a young lady, I Thought I'd give this place a shot. My first call was about tires a few months ago. They gave me the best price local but I still decided to go online to make my purchase. I needed a alignment and I called and made a same day appointment. Everything went well. The mechanic explained the problem with my car and I was satisfied with the service provided. I'm pretty sure that I was charged full price for a incomplete alignment. I'm good for - its better than it was, and I'll order parts when my budget allows. The waiting area was clean, has a tv, stuff to read and a coffee maker. If that's not good enough you can walk to Walmart or shops near by. read more

I was having problems with a loud "clunking" noise coming from the right front passengers side of my car. Took it in to Cheseldine, they said they never heard any noise, and charged me a $95 service fee!!! Quite a hefty price for not finding anything wrong with it. Drove the car home and it made the clunking noise the entire way back. Took it to a family friend who had time to look at it, fixed it, and said it should've only cost about $30 to fix. Such a ripoff. They're only getting two stars because of the woman who checked my car in- she was very pleasant and friendly. Terrible Customer service, absolutely no need to spend your money there when you will be treated so much better elsewhere and if you do go do not bother to ask any questions or you will be treated like a pile of crap they are truly miserable people and overcharge for everything. Everyone makes a mistake once in their life. Let me tell you the store how I came across Cheseldine. I have a 2001 Jeep Wangler that was due, by the book, for a tune up. Nothing was wrong with it. So I took it to a shop down 235 on the left towards the navy base and was told that it would be over $100 for the tune up. So I went to Cheseldine and Gary was at the desk. He took my keys and told me that he would call my cell and let me know anything. So about a half hour later my cell phone rings and Gary said that my jeep is ready. I asked, "How much?" Gary noted that nothing was due because a tune up was not required. Now THAT is service! 11 years later Gary now services all of out vehicles. read more

These people are crooks! I just got my car back and the total? $510! What does that get you in the eyes of Cheseldine? Two tires for an 11 year old Volvo, and an oil change. Here's the breakdown. Two tires: I found the exact same Tires on competitive websites (Tire rack, etc.) for $119ea, they charge $168ea. What is all the more frustrating is that they're the MOST EXPENSIVE TIRES FOR THIS CAR IN THIS SIZE. I don't care if I'm riding on Michelins, Bridgestone, or General. If you can find me a cheaper price, offer it and give me the choice instead of making me wait two days. The car has over 100k miles and faded paint. And $27ea to scrap a tire? Give me a break. This is the most I've ever spent to throw anything away. Also $18 for a mount and balance is more than I paid to mount and balance my low profile 285/45R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my CTS-V. Next was a $30 oil change. I have been doing my own oil for years now because I was tired of being ripped off by mechanics. And these guys are no different. I can do it myself for far less and I at least know what is being put into my car. No bargain barrel oil, just premium Castrol. Lastly, they charged me $95 for "diagnostics" which is waived by literally every shop/dealership that I've ever been to when you actually buy their service. A fee that is there to protect them and ensure their workforce is paid. Well I've apparently paid them twice! What a rip off. If you're going to take your car here, do your research and find cheaper prices and better customer service elsewhere. read more

I purchased a 2003 Hyundai Sonata that had 50k miles for $7500 CASH. Well, I have had the car for almost 5 months and I have had to purchase a new Engine, Timing belt, Water pump, Tensioner, Power Steering Pump, and now, a new computer is also needed!! Well I work on my own cars except for a few items. So I figure I have a good idea what to expect when I go have work done. I was completely shocked to discover how much work they said was "required". Also work and parts were "required" on completely unrelated systems than those I was addressing. I did edit their list down and citing my ability to do it myself, and new issues suddenly arose. I did not completely cave in but my out-of-state plates seemed to spell "SUCKER" to them in a big way. And I found their tires prices the highest in the region. Bottom Line: Competent service, well executed. PREMIUM Prices and aggressive Over Selling to keep their very talented mechanics working all day. The first thing that I want to mention is that I have Volvo C70 convertible. So right off the bat we have a challenge for most repair shops. New into town and not knowing where I could take my car and get honest reliable service I went to Google and narrowed my list to those who could work on foreign cars. I called around and selected an auto repair that was familair with Volvos and took my car in. Coming from out of state I needed a Maryland inspection. My SRS light was on which is not good in any case and in order to pass inspection I needed to get the problem resolved. The repair shop I selected looked over the car, did some tests and said that the problem was due to a faulty sensor in the drivers side door. Estimated cost $1400 + labor. The $1400 was because they had t buy it from Volvo. I told them I'd think about it and decided to get a 2nd opinion. One of my co-workers who is from here suggested Cheseldine. So I took it there, waited while they worked and worried about my wallet. After about an hour they came out and said 'OK we're done. That'll be $90.' I was elated but very curious as to what they had done. It turns out tha they had but the car on one of their digital analysers - found the fault indication, then cleared it along with a couple of other miscellaneous non-critical faults. they said that since most cars were driven a lot by electronic controls and sensors that it's not that unsual for cars to develope "soft" faults that were due to some electronic communication errors rather than a "hard" fault caused by a broken car part. My Dad was a mechanic and I know my way arounnd cars, even having rebuilt some engines before so generally I'm pretty good a daignosing faults before I even get to the repair shop. I very recently took my car, very sure that I had a broken head gasket - cost to repair around $3000. After calling them and telling them what I "knew" what the problem was and asked them about the labor pricing for installing a low milage engine that I could purchase on Ebay. They gave the labor price on that option and the total price turned out to be less so I told them I'd rather go with the engine replacement. They told me what to look for if was going to buy one so that I could minimize any unexpect costs. As I was about to get off the phone, Donna the person who was helpinhg me asked - don't you want to find out what the problem is before you go out buying engines? The question kinda kicked me back because they were procatively trying to save me money vs. the very expensive options that I had already decided on. So I said sure. Turned out to be a replacement for the turbo wa what it really needed. Labor? A dollar cost about 1/6 of what they could have charged me had they just done what I had asked them to do. Unless I move or I end stuck on the road inthe middle of nowhere , I'll never go anywhere else to have my cars repaired. read more

What a nightmare. Absolutely the rudest service ever. I took a 2003 Cadillac DTS in for a state inspection. The service was being paid by the dealer I had recently bought it from. These guys raked him (and me) over the coals. Ended up costing almost $500 for the inspection and tire rotation - and they kept the car 3 days. Because they did not have the right tool to remove the wheel locks. Throughout the process, they never once gave an accurate estimate. And they held the car hostage, when the Dealer that I bought the car from said they were way out of line and refused to pay the last $180. So I paid it to get my car back. Rude and dishonest. I suspect that they seeded the good reviews that you see here. Take my advice and go elsewhere - especially if you are a woman. They were excessively rude to my wife. NEVER again. read more

My husband shopped around for the best deal on some very expensive tires for our 7 Series BMW. Several shops had the same price, But Cheseldine seemed closer. Bad choice. We were only replacing two. When I got there, they kept trying to sell me two more. I told them to call my husband. They knew he would say no so they just kept telling me how unsafe it would be. I am no tire expert, but I am guessing that the other $300 tires were relatively new and plenty safe. So, I guess they "paid me back" by making me wait in their cramped, cheesy waiting room for 4 hours to do what they said would be a 40 minute job. Is this how one should be treated when they are spending $700 at your store? Both the girl and the little bald guy at the desk were abrupt and discourteous. I felt helpless. That's why I'm writing this review. Next time? Drive 2 minutes farther and go someplace that will treat you well and that you can trust - not Cheseldine. read more
