Our dogs stayed at Sweet Paws from 5/22-5/31/2026. When I picked them up their beds were covered in…read moredry urine (not a fresh accident) which is not common behavior for them. Their nails which I paid to be trimmed were still very long and they appeared to be highly stressed. The treats we sent for them were also untouched. I contacted Sweet paws the next day to get a better understanding of what happened. When speaking with their staff I was informed that my dogs nails were cut with a dull dremel and they just got a new one if I wanted to bring them back "for free" and also that they urinated their beds nightly. Being that this is highly unusual behavior I asked for more information on their bathroom schedule and was told the last opportunity they are given to use the washroom is between 530-6pm and then everyone leaves for the night and doesn't return until 6am. They informed me they know this is a long time and are trying to get more staff to stay later which does nothing for my dogs that spent 9 nights alone for 12 hours without the opportunity to use the washroom or be cared for. This is cruel and neglectful at the very least. It is widely known that dogs should not be left alone for 12 hours physiologically and mentally, being that your business is caring for animals, you should absolutely know better and to chose to run your business this way is negligent. Update: I spoke with Terry who manages Sweet Paws along with several other facilities but typically lives out of state. I was informed this is industry standard for dogs to be left extended periods of time without the opportunity to use the washroom, and that other facilities are not likely not being truthful if they say otherwise. Terry was misinformed about my dog's neutered status and suggested that not being neutered is the reason for their accidents (both of my dogs are neutered and have been since I adopted them). Heavy focus of the conversation was "educating" me on what the norm is for boarding facilities since my dogs have never boarded before despite having explained I have family who have a history of working in the business for many years. Terry suggested that I never board my dogs again anywhere. When I would repeat back information that was told to me I was told I was twisting their words instead of highlighting issues in the information that was being told to me. For example, I was told word for word that they don't have staff later because in the past staff that stayed later did nothing. When I replied that is an internal management issue and should not fall on the customer or pets, I was told I was twisting her words. In the end Terry did say she would bring this concern to the owners and see how they could improve but it's hard to believe since I was told over and over that this is the standard and I should not have expected more. What I hoped for was an honest apology and understanding that this is not okay. What I received was an apology quickly followed up by excuses and repeatedly told "this is the norm" Terry encouraged me to not beat myself up and to be grateful they are okay because some facilities lose the dogs in their care. So you can take information as their bottom line. At the end of the day, if you get your dog back that should be enough.

Grooming Update: I took him in for grooming. While it was convenient that he was already there for…read moreday care. I wasn't excited about the grooming experience. I'm not saying this was the groomers fault but he developed two severe hot spots the day after. He came home and was non stop itching the next day I noticed the hot spots. Took him to the vet gave him shots and shaved him. I have never had this problem before after grooming. Again not saying it was the groomer. We recently stopped by to check out this new dog daycare because we have a mini Goldendoodle, Naveen, and it's conveniently located near us. Overall, our first impression was very positive. When we first arrived, the receptionist was on the phone with what appeared to be an upset client, so we waited about 10-15 minutes before being acknowledged. To be fair, I completely understand that those conversations can take time and deserve attention. The owner happened to come out, greeted us with a warm smile, apologized for the wait, and immediately made us feel welcome. He gave us a thorough tour of the facility and patiently answered all of our questions. The facility includes separate play areas for large and small dogs, boarding rooms with individual storage for each dog's belongings, grooming services, and an outdoor play area. Everything looked clean and thoughtfully designed. Before dogs can attend daycare or boarding, they complete an assessment, which is easy to schedule through the app (it's listed under Training). Naveen spent a few hours there for his assessment and came home wearing the cutest little bow tie, which was such a thoughtful touch and made us smile. The app was straightforward and easy to navigate, and the pricing seemed fair for the services offered and the area. A few things I wasn't crazy about: the security cameras are for internal use only, so owners can't check in on their dogs during the day. I also felt like many services came as add-ons. Lastly, I noticed the daycare play area didn't have toys. The owner explained that toys can sometimes create resource guarding issues between dogs, which I completely understand from a safety standpoint, but as a dog parent I still wished there were a few enrichment options. If I remember correctly, I believe they mentioned plans to add climbing equipment or other play structures in the future. For now, I'm giving 5 stars based on our initial visit and Naveen's assessment experience. The customer service from the owner, the cleanliness of the facility, the thoughtful little details, and the overall professionalism left us feeling confident enough to book both daycare and boarding later this month. I'm also planning to schedule a grooming appointment. I should of took more pictures, to post, but I was in the moment and forgot. I'll be sure to come back and update this review after we've had experience with those services as well.

Shaking wouldn't even get him to wake up. I brought him here begging them for help because I wanted to get him seen as soon as humanly possible. The nurse asked if I was a patient. I told her no, but I had been in the past. I fell on hard times and owed them some money (not much) and that it went to collections because I couldn't pay it at the time but I would pay it to them right then and there if that was still an option and begged them to just help my dog. She looked at Dr. Brodd who was standing there, and said it's his call. He replied with its always my call, to which the nurse laughed, and Dr. Brodd walked away without a word. I stood there, dumbfounded. Waited because I thought someone would tell me yes they would help or no they wouldn't. Instead I stood there as precious seconds ticked by while my dog was outside dying in my car. No one acknowledged me or said anything so I said guess not and got the hell out of there. I understand I owed them money once two years ago I couldn't afford to pay. I had tried to pay once I got the money and was told it went to collections. But to turn away an animal in DESPERATE need over money? We could have talked it out after. I could have paid up front. Whatever it would have taken. But no. I wasn't even given a second thought and neither was my dog dying in my car. We went to AnCare in lasalle and they had a gurney ready and waiting for us. My dog is in back now. I pray he makes it. They didn't even ask me if I had been a patient there, if I could pay, anything. They said we can talk about all of that later. They put my dog first before anything else, and THAT is what an animal hospital should do. HELP animals. It's clear Chessie Lane only cares about money, and not the animals that rely on vets for care. It should have been clear with the way my horse was aggressively manhandled by Dr. Brodd when he WAS his vet. But I was desperate and they were the only vet in town open. Now I see that even considering them was a waste of time.

Public Warning / Review…read more On October 23, 2023, my service dog Journey (then 13 months old) was mistreated and placed in danger at Canine Physical Rehab during a swim appointment. Journey had never worked with Becca before (who is now the current owner). Upon meeting him for the first time, she unhooked his leash in the lobby without my permission or following any of the usual safety protocols. Multiple safety gates and doors to the pool area were left open, and Journey--like most Goldens with a strong water drive--ran straight into the pool unsupervised. At that moment: * He was still wearing an electronic collar, putting him at risk. * No staff were in the pool room to ensure his safety. * He dove in unsupervised, which could have caused serious injury or drowning. Once in the pool, Becca ignored my repeated warnings that Journey required a toy in his mouth to prevent him from swallowing water (as his prior instructors had always done). Instead, she insisted he was "not swimming correctly" and began physically throwing him toward the pool stairs and table to force him into positions. Afterward, she told me Journey would be "punished" for running into the pool by being required to stand on equipment and watch the water instead of swimming for half his session--completely inappropriate and cruel. The results of this session: * Journey consumed so much water that he vomited repeatedly for over an hour afterward. * Our vet was concerned about possible dry drowning due to the excessive water intake. * The violent handling left him traumatized--and it traumatized us as his family to witness. When I voiced these concerns, the business dismissed them. Since then, they have also blocked me on all social media, preventing me from commenting and sharing what happened, which feels like an attempt to hide the truth. With Becca now the owner, I strongly warn other pet parents: this is not a safe place to bring your dog. Journey is a certified service and therapy dog, trained and experienced, yet he was still put at risk here. If this could happen to him, it could happen to anyone's dog. Your pet's safety and well-being are too important to risk.

Rebecca has not returned my 5 telephone calls to provide me updated information. Today my Vet asked about Hazels progress with Therapy. I informed him that the owner has not returned my telephone calls. It bothered me that for months the pool has been unavailable for water therapy. When my dog used the water treadmill she was exposed to other dog hair. The place needs to be cleaned to service other dogs. Administration needs to pull it together to run a professional business.
