I don't think we've ever had a bad meal; however, in this small town of White House, TN, we were traveling through last week on vacation and decided to eat someplace close to the hotel. We were flabbergasted by a meal that was ordered by one of our traveling companions. She ordered the Friday special which was fried cod. When she received her meal, she looked at the fish and said right away that it wasn't cod, as we know it; it was catfish. The young server was relatively new and said "no, that's what our cod looks like". Our friend replied back, "this is unlike any cod I've ever had, it looks and tastes like catfish". The server offered to have the fish redone and at the same time she checked with the kitchen staff and they swore that this is what their cod looked like and described how their catfish looked like. The second batch of fish looked like the first - still not cod but didn't argue anymore about it. Photos 1 & 2 are what we believe to be catfish posing as cod; photo 3 is a properly fried cod, thanks to a fine restaurant in Hilton Head SC today. Light and fluffy, you don't see the back of the fish like you can with catfish. Maybe there was a mix up in shipping mismarked fish to CB or maybe the staff at this CB truly doesn't know the difference. It was disappointing. The other three meals were very good. The staff we dealt with were all very friendly. As a note; after returning home to Ocala FL, our companion dined at our local CB and she showed these photos of the CB "cod" to to a seasoned server and was told that was not cod, it was catfish and their cod here is battered, not coated in cornmeal as the photo appears to indicate.
