Stopped by Strouds in Lebanon last night. There is quite a bit of fat in the barbecue that adds to the weight that I am paying for. There was alot of liquid with fat drippings in it also. The taste was good but with the fat and liquid in the container, I'm sure I didn't get the full pound of meat that I paid for. DO better Strouds or I want be back. read more

I think someone should just be honest and say that there are so many corners cut at this restaurant it seems. I'm assuming in the chain. The health inspection score has never change. When asked about this, they said "It's because of the building." Then fix the building??? Edley's can get a 100 everytime as well as Bringles (which is planets better). I have physically seen rats running through this restaurant. In the bathroom, outside of the restaurant and in the dining room. There service is awful, I've seen black spots in all the ice and ice machine when standing at the counter and have seen employees spit in food and drinks and hand it to cops and couldn't believe it when I saw it. I asked about that and they said, "I don't like them." I'm assuming they meant that person, but that could be towards cops. I'm unsure. It's tacky looking, smells horrible and really doesn't look like a well kept building, which it isn't (just judging from having two fires in under 6 years). From what I understand no insurance for full-time employees is offered and people are grossly underpaid. I was able to ask a few employees and asked about their hours and it was kind of depressing. I also was able to catch a glimpse of them making the lemonade and pudding. None of it is real or made from scratch. It's all packaged product and sugar basically mixed together in tubs or pans. It was just so much sugar. Enough to give an elephant diabetes. I saw from the counter how they stored their pork. I'm assuming in a walk-in, but it's stored in horribly used containers. It's literally tin foil wrapping and if it tears then so be it I guess. Nothing seems to be stored properly. Black mold all throughout the building. I could see it in the bathroom, and the dining room so I could only assume it's throughout the building. A former employee told me they were forced to work in hazardous snow conditions and after they were injured. They did not help them medically. Also the smoke from this place will destroy your hair and eyes. I saw some before and after photos of a person's hair line and prescription. Just steep decline in under a year from conditions. The doctor's told them that. And also at the end of the day the food just tastes so horrible. Just please stay away is my best advice. read more

Good barbecue in Lebanon TN. Probably not worth a long drive from 45 minutes away, but a nice little location for a great pork pulled meat sandwich and the sides they offer. I am generally a potato salad or baked beans guy and I would recommend either of these here, too. You won't go wrong. The smell of wood smoke is intoxicating when walking in. Smells sooooo good. I had the chicken plate with coleslaw and Mac n cheese. The slaw is vinegar based and has a nice sweetness to it. I came thru and got chicken plate with two sides. The sides were good. I called because when I opened my plate I saw a glob of shredded dark meat. Looked like pork to me and I don't eat pork. I took one bite and it was terrible. It had no flavor and tasted like it had been boiled and left soaking in water. I don't think I will try this place again. read more

Went to Lebanon because I had several appts at wilson county Vanderbilt hospital. I live 1.5hrs away. When leaving at around 3:45, i was passing a strouds bbq. I frequent the strouds in cookeville but i live north west and wouldnt be going through ckvl on way home. I stopped and bought a value pack 1, pork with coleslaw. Got home took out of bag and there was one tiny cup of bbq sauce for 6 sandwiches? There was a tiny cup with brown water in it???? Have no idea what it was. When i took a taste of coleslaw it was the worst i have ever tasted. Just by looking at it, you can tell that some shredded fresh cabbage was added to what i guess was old rotten slaw as the new cabbage hadnt soaked up the dressing. It just tasted rotten. Threw the slaw out which i usually put on my pork sandwich and had to pull out the sweet baby rays sauce i had in fridge. Probably be a while b4 i revisit strouds in cookeville as the slaw left a very bad taste in my mouth and its not bbq without the sauce. read more

Last Thursday while in Lebanon with a friend, we passed Stroud's and he asked me about their food. Having frequented this location for over fifteen years, I knew where we'd be eating lunch based on his question. The food has always been good. I like their daily specials and love their sweet tea partly because of the flake ice. Flake ice keeps my drink colder and there is nothing better than ice cold sweet tea from Strouds. I generally eat the Barbeque Burrito or Barbeque Nachos. We'll also order a muffin because they're moist and go good with pork barbeque! If you like good southern barbeque...this is the place. You can't beat their value packs when feeding several hungry folks. They've recently updated the dining area and it looks great. New TV, free wifi and clean bathrooms - you can't go wrong. read more

Always great food! Anytime I come to Lebanon I try to make it by, even if it's to get it to go. They've always been a favorite bbq spot of mine. Too bad they closed down some of the other locations outside of the Lebanon area. Their bbq potatoes and nachos are great. Prices are very reasonable to the food you get. Their sweet tea is the best. Pulled Pork is awesome. I've tried Whitt's BBQ and it's my opinion Strouds beats them hands down.

Took family for ribs. Service was good, but almost 30 bucks for some fatty, tough ribs. Come on. Was told ribs were to be fresh out of the smoker. One of my guests said it was like beef jerky. Yeah! Southern BBQ the way mom used to make it. OK, mom made mostly German things, but this was pretty good. I'm from Seattle, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. Horrible experience, in fact I downloaded this app just to give them this scathing review. Went through the drive thru to pick up food for family at the hospital across the street, because you know how hospital food is. It was specially requested by my Aunt who was a patient there. Get to the drive thru which is slow because you can't place your order till you're at the window. I ordered 2 beef sandwiches and 2 potato salads. Pick up the food, parked back at the hospital, carried it all the way to her room, only to find 2 potato salads and just 1 sandwich. I should have left my Aunt her sandwich and salad, but I carried the whole order back so they could see what was there. The boy at the window turned and told the cook to add a sandwich, handed the bag back out to my and said nothing else. NO APOLOGY. I drive off. Get the order back to the hospital room and find one sandwich semi-warm, and the other sandwich cold and disgusting. Everybody has gotten a bad order from drive thru windows from time to time, but to have an employee just reach out the window and hand you your order without apologizing for the mistake, and not give you an entirely new, fresh order is unacceptable and horrible customer service. They've seen the last of me. Their restaurant is convenient to the hospital, but next time someone asks for bbq, I'll drive all the way into Nashville before I'll go to Stroud's and be treated that way again! Stroud's is good for what it's good for: local employment and cheap on-the-go food. The location in Lebanon smells like a hickory pit and the smell of hickory is about as close as it gets. The pulled pork is either cooked with gas or boiled. The chicken is possibly the same. Both had little to no flavor and were dry and stringy. The Saturday lunch visit for us included no clean tables in a near empty location and ants on several of the tables. The hot sauce, which isn't on the table, is a vinegar based sauce that relies too much on black pepper - but overall isn't the world's worst sauce to provide some kick to a flavorless sandwich. Lots of people talk about the bbq potatoes and nachos. Maybe I'll try those if I go back. read more

Walked in with a large group right before close, didnt think to check the time. Manager and staff were super nice and polite. Food was amazing, they threw in extra food as they were closing. I wish there were a 3.5 because it's better than okay, but not quite "Yay- I'm a fan!". My husband and I finally decided to venture out for lunch, a sacred time that's usually reserved for exercise. We'd seen the great reviews online and pass this place every day on our way to/from work. First impressions - it smelled fantastic, had a nice crowd, and the girl taking orders was friendly. The food arrived pretty quickly - my husband ordered the ribs and I got the pulled chicken plate ($23 combined). At first I thought I had gotten pulled pork by mistake because it looked way too brown and greasy, not like the flaked white meat I'm used to for chicken. It tasted like pork too, although I'm not sure. Either way, the chicken was supposed to be my saving grace for a somewhat healthy lunch; it was quite greasy and my fries were soggy from sitting in it. My husband said his ribs were good, not great, but good. We also got 2 sides each. The sweet potato fries might have been good if not for being soaked in pulled [chicken?] grease, but the onion rings were fantastic!! We also got mac & cheese which resembled melted butter with noodles, and baked beans which were good and with a slight Asian flavor, both served in tiny containers slightly larger than a shot glass. Lastly, both meals came with a to-die-for cornbread muffin, which tasted like the best sourdough bread ever under the disguise of a cornbread muffin and melted in your mouth. The muffin gets 5-stars! We will return and re-assess at some point because it's very close to our office, and with so many 5-star reviews maybe it was just an off-day. Friendly staff helps too. =) read more

No complaints about the food, but I ordered enough food to feed 16 people and they charged me $6.12 for 12 forks and cheap, small plates made from foam. I will not go there again just for that reason. Spend over 65 dollars and get charged for the plastic ware. Ridiculous !!! read more

Stroud's never disappoints!!! Our office is just about a mile away, and we can't resist getting Stroud's at least 3 times a month. Their pork, chicken, and ham are top-notch! My personal favorite is the BBQ Nachos, either with pork or chicken. Yummy!!! read more

Super disappointed! My first let down was that ribs are only available on Fridays and Saturdays. Second, they were out of sweet potato fries. So I ordered the pork plate with cole slaw and fries - the coleslaw is a pile of dry cabbage sitting in a puddle of straight up vinegar, the pork was very bland, no seasoning at all and rather greasy and mushy. The cornbread was dry like a box mix. The BLT had nice thick bacon, no lettuce, on a half toasted, small hamburger bun. It wasn't the worst BLT I've ever had but was definitely weird. If you're in Lebanon go to Blue Moon BBQ, except on Mondays, they're closed. read more

Stroud's had a booth at the Wilson Co Fair. We ate there 6 nights from Friday until Wednesday. Wednesday was a rain out night at the fair. We visit Stroud's again Thursday night ordering BBQ nacho's. Later that night we was sick as a dog. Friday I ask if other people had reported getting sick. Mr. Stroud said his Thursday night BBQ was left over from Wednesday.
