Went here for lunch. I got the fish and chips. Very good fish and chips. My wife got the wings and a salad very large salad and the wings were very meaty and juicy. They were very good. I would say during the day a family friendly restaurant they do have a bar in the middle of the restaurant but still a very calm crowd. Crossing state lines for Antiquing at Marketplace and Wings & Beer at Chevelle's 66 is a well spent Sunday! We love the wings at Chevelle's 66 but they have gotten pricey at $19 for 10, but today was our lucky day to get 20 at a $1 a piece! The Sunday brunch menu looks good. A great little bar joint with great food in the middle of downtown Murphy, NC. Well worth the visit. People are nice, attentive and the food tasty and fresh. Can't ask for anything more. Just fyi, they do not serve wings until 1600. Love wings... remember to support your local grubbery so we both don't starve. read more

First time being at this restaurant, there was six of us. The restaurant did not appear to be busy during this time. There was enough large table/booths and we were seated next to the restrooms. DO NOT SEAT people next to a restroom when they are eating or planning to eat their food. Another thing, service was not great, hardly saw our waitress and took over an hour for us to receive our food. Again was not a busy restaurant during this time. Went they're on New Year's Day for lunch and waited at the hostess counter for a long period of time while others walked around us and went into the restaurant and got seated before us. We talked to the hostess, and she got real snippy and rude with us and then finally got seated. The waitresses were understaffed and to our surprise another new menu in the last 2 1/2 years. There have been two new menus as well as understaffed people that don't know how to cook, etc. It gets better for a while and then it goes downhill again. This pattern seems to be a frequent thing at this restaurant. Our server was great though, even though she was overworked and running like crazy. In addition, the prices have gone up and it's ridiculous to pay $19 for 10 wings. I hope this restaurant can pull itself out of this ridiculous issue that keeps reoccurring. read more

Well I certainly wouldn't go back again. The food took about 45 minutes to cook but came out raw. I couldn't even eat the burger. It was cold inside. The French fries were barely cooked as well. Fully stocked bar. Gentleman that was running front was very kind! However food wait was about an hour, when they weren't even busy. When we asked how much longer, we were told they had the kitchen working hard on it- that there was an issue with the ticket printer- however it was working enough for some sort of ticket to be printed because we received our salads. We ended up leaving for these obvious reasons. Not sure if the hard work was coming from the same kitchen that was yelling back and forth with the waitress. Who didn't even keep the drinks refilled and the one time she did a water was brought luke warm with NO ICE. Had to walk to the bar just to get a fresh cup because the waitress was not really around to help. We did get the salads which were great and fresh, wish we could have tried the food. read more

Karaoke on Wednesdays is good. The bar staff is great. The food should be avoided. Tried the wings for a second time and they tasted like burn hair again. The server didn't bring plates or napkins. Maybe they pay more attention to the other food on the menu but I'll never know. Last thing, in the wintertime, it's cold as hell in there. Wear layers and a hat. Even the staff will don outerwear on occasion. Why won't they turn on the heat? Honestly, of it wasn't for the karaoke I'd never go again. I guess I e learned my lesson, eat before going. read more

Moscow mule was vodka and bottled lime juice no ginger beer. $15 hand made cheese sticks were cold and raw breading inedible.. 1 st time visit. Parking lot easy access for people with disability's . Inside was a busy bar and several people dining. They had booths and comfortable table and chairs. We were greeted and seated right a way. Young man assisted us in getting are drinks. All food was delivered as ordered Hot and Tasty. Drinks were kept full.. I had chicken fingers and onion rings. We stopped into Chevelle's for lunch with my mom while visiting her in Murphy, NC. This was during COVID-19, so I was happy to see the staff were wearing masks and they had tables that were spaced apart. Our server was very friendly and helpful throughout our meal. I chose to try one of their listed salads topped with grilled chicken. My mom ordered a veggie burger with fries and my boyfriend ordered a regular burger and fries. The food came out pretty quickly. My salad was large, but seemed to be missing some of the toppings that the menu description had listed so that was a little disappointing. It was still pretty tasty. It was served with a pesto vinaigrette that I enjoyed. My mom enjoyed her veggie burger. My boyfriend thought his burger was pretty good, but not outstanding. I tasted his burger and fries and agreed. Not bad by any means, but not great either. The atmosphere here seemed pretty fun. It looks like it would be a cool place to hang out during entertainment nights and events once COVID isn't a concern. Overall, it's an A-okay spot to stop in for a bite to eat and a drink. read more

They have gone so far downhill there's no return! I said 2 times ago it was my last time after sub-par food and horrible service but my son wanted to go for his birthday & it was for sure the last time for me! The Reuben (Hummer) wasn't the usual corned beef (just sliced thin corned beef which was never great, just OK) this time was slabs of the fattiest, greasiest cheap meat I've ever tasted! I don't know if they ran out of the usual stuff and someone thought they were a chef and would make it from scratch or what but it SUCKED! Both myself and my stepfather ordered it and we were both shocked at how bad it was. It has become a destination for tourists and like most Murphy establishments & they know the people won't be back anyway so they don't care about food quality or service. read more

The restaurant looked promising. There were 5 of us that dined here. Not 5 minutes after sitting down one of the male staff members walks by our table and says "oooh hi ladies" in an inappropriate manner. We ordered. Our salads were all wrong every salad had brown pieces of lettuce and it was just unappetizing. One Cesar salad was so limp they used mixed greens for it and it was swimming in dressing. there was something wrong with every dish. The club did not come with pesto aioli as stated in the menu, it was just mayo, the meat was sloppily thrown on. The seasonal salad came with whole asparagus spears none of the veggies were cut, it looked like a side dish that should be served with steak! Not on a salad. The burger was so dry and overcooked (ordered it medium) I had to choke it down and dip it in massive amounts of ketchup. The server was new so we were very patient, she was sweet but also seemed very confused and her management did not offer any help or support to her. It's clear management does not train kitchen staff or wait staff properly. We told our server our issues with the food. She comped our salads however when it came time to pay the check she messed up two of the checks, both came back with wrong change. One check went back for correct change and never came back! They mixed it up with another table. The manager was heard yelling at a staff member about mixing the checks. The manager never came to our table to apologize or acknowledge the situation. Now they have become something that's not worth the price. $15 for the mozzarella sticks that are half the size, double the price and the rest is the same. My husband and I got take-out Monday evening we had 2 burgers and a dessert. My husband ordered a small block with bison and I had a regular cheeseburger.. my burger was good but when I got there to pick it up after the 15-20 mins I was told it would be ready I waited another 15 or so mins got home and saw that my husband's burger was completely different from what he ordered (he ate it anyway) I'm not one to complain but the price of food is high and we'd like to get what we pay for.. his was supposed to have double patties and the bison is more expensive he didn't get that and the dessert (apple crumble) that I waited the extra 15 mins on wasn't warm at all and overall just not that great. I work in a restaurant so I get mistakes happen but I even tipped the nice man at the door and then to get our food and it not be exactly what we ordered it was disappointing. read more

Have been several times to this wonderful restaurant over the past couple of years. I'll break down my review so you understand how I came to three stars. Definitely a fun, themed restaurant based on the Chevrolet Chevelle. When you walk in the reception area is a Craftsman tool chest and the theme goes on from there. Friendly greeting and was sat quickly. As for hand sanitizer there was none! Here's where it starts going south! The waitress was more than friendly, however using the mask as a chin guard is not acceptable in these times. This is not acceptable and with the lack of hand sanitizer begins to cause me to believe that the sanitizing in the restaurant is not happening. Consequently I'm not feeling comfortable at this point. The food came as ordered and always deserves five stars! Medium rare, no seasoning on the fries and not blackened made the perfect Cowboy burger. Started with the fried pickles and they were delicious. Our waitress kept the Diet Coke flowing and plenty of ice. While waiting for our meal a few patrons left and the waitress cleared the table and took a rag and wiped the table and nothing else! No spray bottle or any other visible sanitizer and did not see any of the menus wiped off either. While a condiment container, S&P, and ketchup was delivered to the table I am not confident that they were sanitized. Hence I ate my food with a knife and fork! Hopefully this review will enlighten the owners and they make visible improvements to their sanitizing and visible proof to the customers. Finally, "Social distancing " is NON EXISTENT! I write an honest review, rate several areas in my reviews and with this review and the food is the clear winner of the 3-stars in my review! read more

We ordered fried pickles which were battered nicely and delicious, Mahi taco special which came with delicious black beans on the tacos and a side of chips and salsa, chevelle mushroom Swiss burger, and the spicy tornado burger. The only complaint is our burgers came out charred instead of just done. Otherwise everything was wonderful and our waiter was friendly and attentive. The spicy ranch here is also very good. The appeal of the restaurant is truly how cool it is inside with the themes. They have specials each day so we are excited to come back and try wing Wednesday and a few other specials they have throughout the week. We were recommended to go here when passing through the area and are happy we made the stop. I was in the area visiting family for Christmas. My brother and sister in law frequently dine at this establishment and suggested we have lunch there. Situated in the heart of downtown it's presence was fairly nondescript on the outside. Once you walk through the doors you immediately get a sense of why it's a town favorite. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. With a large crowd you felt the energy this place exudes. Our food was delicious and the menu had something for everyone. Best Luke warm French fries I've ever had. Took almost 25 minutes to get a bland meatloaf sandwich and a Buffalo chicken sandwich. I think the chicken breast was imported from Chernobyl. MY HONEY AND I... ...did a Date Day last week at Chevelle's and I'm going to post here before I do my Yelp! review. (Qualifiers: We are foodies and I'm a classically trained French cuisine chef, ((Auguste Escoffier and Johnson & Wales)).) My review follows. Chevelle's is a true bright spot! This is a comfortable local Murphy, NC hangout that runs the gamut as far as bar-crowd-attractant amenities. They've got Karaoke, they've got TV (most races and golf), they have indoor, outdoor dining, smoking and non, clean restrooms, and a hay wagon full of very polite and courteous young ladies to get you fixed up. Music, at times, reportedly good. But, damnation and goodness gracious, the food! (Please don't take the following review the wrong way. There are some small negatives, but they're the minority. The criticism I offer is done in the spirit of improving the knowledge of the current chef, that is all.) Dish 1: The allure of this dish, Mozzarella Sticks/Bars, was its simplicity (and, that's true with most food, folks: Easy on the enhancements, let the food speak for itself). The cheese was incredibly creamy, not rubbery, and the breading (almost a cross between beer batter and Tempura) was delicate and yet possessed enough crunch to give a contrasted mouthfeel to the dish. Overall, much better than the average "disgusting mozzarella sticks" served in the area. Solid cooking, Marinara above average, and I'm going to recommend this one, folks. Dish 2: A breakfast thing my wife, Pamela Etowski , ordered. According to her, and she has a well trained palate, it was overall good, bacon was robust though had undercooked ends, orange slices were a nice palate cleaner, definitely superior to the chains. Dish 3: This dish was exceptional considering the geography of this whole deal. Tilefish, a deep water species with which I'm intimately familiar, being from the coast. The fish was both breaded and cooked to absolute perfection, incredibly skillful cooking technique. To find something like this, and to have it delivered tableside in Murphy NC, is incredible. This tells me that someone associated with Chevelle's has their act, and their vision, totally focused. Outstanding on that part. The sides and condiments: The plank style potatoes were...ok. obviously cooked prior. The dish was listed as their Fish & Chips, remember that. Fish & Chips is a pub dish, quick and easy. I can spend a half hour with you and help you perfect this dish. Okay, the slaw: Better than average. Finally, the "tartar sauce?" Nope. From Ireland: Never take a well-cooked fish and kill it with any type of mustard. Tartar sauce suggestion: It's always white. There's never, ever, ever any mustard or Durkee's Sauce in it! (Although, you could serve that sauce, once it's fixed, on the side with Bangers and Mash! Dish 4: "Mexican Street Corn." Okay, here we go. My wife, PJ, were at Nashville Food and Wine, when her "boyfriend," AARON SANCHEZ, showed her how this dish is done. At Chevelle's, we got two ears of (extremely fresh, I'll admit!) corn slathered in butter or margarine and some queso or Crema. This is NOT Mexican Street Corn. We do not do this dish without the rest of the ingredients. I only mention this because I believe that Chevelle's has the potential to attract a much broader following and sincerely hope they'll read and realize that I care about my hometown enough to push them to the pinnacle of success. Overall, Chevelle's was EXCEPTIONAL! You don't find deep water tilefish from the coastal region on just any menu! Whoever is running this place has her or his head screwed on correctly they're going to be continually successful so long as they are willing to adapt and transform their great ideas into immensely successful ideas. P.S. I'll make you a hand-crafted tartar sauce, whipped, fresh herbs, that'll put you so far above your competition that your noses will bleed. P.P.S. Good job, Chevelle's! read more

Before COVID we were here almost every weekend listening to their live music. Every musical group they booked was surprisingly good with many being outstanding. The bartenders are for the most part really nice & they mix a decent drink. The acoustics are pretty good considering there are no sound suppressors to be seen.
