Melissa is amazing. By that, I mean she helped a nervous, possibly OCD-inflicted guy feel comfortable and get a great hair (and beard) cut. Last Wednesday, I walked in for my first haircut in 3 months. I talked too much (I do that when I'm nervous) and she politely listened to it all and explained how she works. Which is completely different from the way the last person cut my hair for the last 18 years. My hair was to my waist, and now it doesn't even go below my boobs. I'm devastated. You'd be better off going to Great Clips -- at least they listen to what you want there. Oh goodness... where do I begin with this mess? I JUST WANT TO WARN ANY BRIDES-TO-BE, DO NOT GO HERE! I chose this salon to have my hair done for my wedding day as well as have my mother and mother-in-law's hair done based on the stellar reviews that I read. Well, after I was set up with an appointment and showed them what I wanted, I felt set and confident that they would have made me a priority as a bride. Come to find out, I was NOT a priority. They had lost my images for what I wanted done with my hair. Seriously. I work a full time job, working on moving to Asheville, and planning a wedding, and then all of the sudden they want me to go back and dig up images that they LOST. So not happy with that. On top of everything I had going on in my life at the moment, I had to do their job. The girl at the front desk made sure that the owner, Jared, called me to insure that this wouldn't happen again. They swore they would help make my day perfect. Well a few weeks before the wedding, I wanted to get a little trim up. The girl Kim was so nice and did a great job. However, some guy was sitting across from me in another salon chair, I told him how I was getting married, and what I wanted done for my hair. I said that the photo should be on file there. He said "perhaps you should send it again, a third time, to make sure that we got it." At this point I realized that it was Jared. He was sitting there antagonizing me about the whole thing while I was getting my hair trimmed. I just sat there and closed my eyes and tried to ignore him. I was livid!!! As we I was leaving and paying, Jared continued to antagonize me and was pretending to forget the date of my wedding and was laughing. My husband heard it, and rushed me out as he was angry too. I called a little later to let them know I wasn't happy. I never got an apology. Nothing. I canceled with them because of Jared. When I scheduled with someone else in downtown Asheville, I told them about my experience. They noted that have heard of Jared's reputation and his attitude. The new place welcomed me and treated me so well. All in all. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU EXPECT TO BE TREATED AS A PRIORITY. read more

Had a junior stylist for a blow out for my Engagement shoot. The stylist was sweet, said she had been doing hair for 5 years. However, she simply didn't know how to handle my hair. I asked for volume and came in with photos that she agreed she could accomplish. My hair was coming out really flat and greasy looking, she kept asking me if I liked it and I was being honest that it wasn't what I wanted and tried to help offer her ways to fix it. She got flustered and kindly ushered me out. I was ready to leave anyway. Had to go to Walmart to buy supplies since I was an out of towner to try to quickly fix it before my photo shoot. read more

Terrible services and the website did not give updated prices. They botched my hair. I asked Melissa, my stylist how much it would be for my services. I chose this salon by comparing prices on their website to other salons. Turns out their website says one thing, their stylist says another, and my receipt says a third. For reference, the website said my services would be $75. I was charged $130 and I'm not getting any of it refunded. If this isn't bad enough, they can't get me in until the end of the month to get my hair fixed. They were rude and not accommodating. I'm appalled by the utter disrespect and lack of hospitality displayed by the management of this unprofessional salon. I could not be more dissatisfied. read more

I recently got my hair done at this salon for the first time. I had a balayage in my hair already when I went into the salon, I was looking to lighten the balayage for summer. Everyone in the salon was nice, and they offered me beer/wine which was a nice touch. For a balayage and a cut, I was charged $190.00. My hair is extremely thin and short. I was surprised at the price, given what I had seen online I was expecting $125.00. When I got home and had a chance to really look at my hair, I noticed that it didn't look at all like a balayage , but more like a chunky foil highlight that is going to require a lot of upkeep. I previously chose the balayage because it doesn't require frequent upkeep. My hair looks extremely dated now. I called to speak with the salon owner and left a message for him to call me back. I never received a call back so I called again and left a message. It's now been almost 10 days with no call back. I have included a picture of my hair, clearly not a balayage. The second photo I posted wearing the fur vest is of my previous balayage that I loved! I didn't get what I wanted and paid a high end price. I won't be back, a simple call back is just good business. I wasn't looking for anything free, just what I paid for. read more

I've been seeing Jared for over a year. I wouldn't let anyone else style, color or cut my hair. He is Amazing. I go frequently and he always does an awesome job whether it's my first visit in awhile or I was just there a week ago. His shop is also clean, comfortable and full of amazing talented stylists. Jeremy cut my daughter's wavy awkward growing out stage hair into a style we loved as she continues to grow it out. He taught her where to part her hair to flatter her face. He is extremely talented and she said she found her new hair guy. We love the cut. Either of these men would be great for your next hair cut! read more

I made an appointment for 3:30 to get a full balayage (which is a 3 hour long process) and I called at 3:30 to say I was running behind. I was told that he would take me if I was 15 minutes late but they could not make any guarantees I would be seen if I was any later. I check in at 3:47 (2 mins past) and I get told I can't be seen because he has other clients... I understand the importance of keeping other client's appointments on time but it's unprofessional when the stylist doesn't even come out to try to reschedule or suggest cutting some time off by not blow drying and styling (it would have been a 17 min difference...). Every other salon I've been to in my life would fit something in if you're less than 20 minutes late, like I said, even if it meant skipping a blow dry or someone else blow drying. Or at the very least get to speak to the stylist. read more

If I could rate this Salon a negative 5 star I would. I came to Chaveaux with hair in good condition but a cut I wanted to grow out. I typically drive out of town for salon treatments but was impressed with Jeremy's bio given he had been an educator in Atlanta. After three treatments which ended up making my hair brittle and literally falling out of my head, I went back requesting moisturizing treatment at the time I was getting foils. I went against my better judgement and went back.. Jeremy ruined my hair...too thin to pull Back as my scalp is exposed and too damaged to wear down...absolutely ZERO style. I imagine maybe a year before I recover from this disaster. The fact that he attempted to question the water used on my hair should have been a sigh to run. I actually have one of the most highly rated water filtration systems on the market. If you are blond and want to keep your hair in your head...RUN!!!!! read more

After having a couple friends of mine recommend this place to see Jordan! Now I have added her on Instagram and saw her work and that she's a senior stylist I felt more comfortable booking an appointment with her. I had boxed red color and was looking to go blonde, now, I know it's a 2-3 visit process to get to where I wanted because I e had it done before. I showed her what I wanted and she assured me she will get me looking better then I came in, she also gave me a haircut because I had a really messed up hair cut from previous place that messed it up badly! The haircut she gave was what I needed and was extremely happy! Now, the color She has spent 2.5 hours talking while working and only managed to get half my head done which I scheduled 4 hours to get my whole head done. She then sent me off to get washed and what not with some junior stylists while she moved on to her next clients. Now when they revealed my hair after washing and starting to blow dry, it looked horrible! I looked like I had old lady's grey hair and underneath it was some weird orange that they said will help transition to blonde. I started crying! It was so bad!!! Quickly she came and said but that's what you wanted, and you only booked a 2 hour appointment so I couldn't finish the job! At this point I was so angry but I saw Jared came up and said he will 'fix it' which only led to me being at the sink for over an hour and then trying to do something to get it looking more descent and had pressed so hard on my head that I had bruises on my neck and headaches for 2 weeks. I couldn't sleep! When I came home I saw how bad my hair looked and called them back to ask for refund because they charged me $175. Ridiculous! Jared told me I can't get a refund but I can come in for a fix and he had me scheduled with another junior stylist named Cate! I came in a week later and I have to say she did such an amazing job I actually came out looking way better then I expected to look after 2-3 visits to transition to blonde that I wanted! Although I loved how Cate did my hair I'm not sure if I want to go back to them! read more

This was my first time at Cheveux, which I learned about by asking someone with good color where she went and she said she went to Alison at Cheveux. I started with an appointment for a hair cut, and it turned out great! It was a fairly simple cut but she took lots of time to get the ends textured right so it wasn't just a straight blunt cut but has dimension and subtle layering. She snipped the ends from several different directions, and unlike some cuts I've had before, every time I wash and blow dry my hair at home it lays just as good as it was at the salon because of the quality of the cut. Love how much detail and time she put into what would otherwise have been just a simple cut. I will definitely go back to Alison in the future! read more

My hair tends to go brassy, particularly in the summer, and Holly brought it to a wonderful cool dark blonde that looks fabulous. She spent a lot of time cutting it as well and it came out great. I spoke with Jared who scheduled me with Yuliya. Jared said she was relatively new to the team.. ( I am always hesitant for the new stylist.. as there were no reviews yet). Jared reassured me.. Upon arriving early..reception was warm, coffee offered, salon was nice and clean, quiet( like I like it).. After meeting Yuliya.. she was very attentive to communication regarding my desires for my hair. Having had some recent hair trauma.. I had taken the time to write down do's and don'ts.. which sometimes has put people on the defense before they actually touch the hair. Fortunately, Yuliya was very understanding.. To shorten the review and be concise..she gave me the best hair color/highlights that I have had in many years. Perfect. I would rate it ten stars if I could. The price was reasonable and I left an appropriate tip for the wonderful job. I not only felt heard, but she was able to execute what I had asked for my hair. Cheveux Salon is a warm and trendy salon. I love the openness and the wood/metal decor. I just moved to the area from Raleigh and was looking for a new salon to call home. After reading reviews and checking out their well laid out website, I decided to make an appt. I am so glad that I did! My hair was way over due for a good cut and Jared did an amazing job! I had dyed my hair pink 1.5 months ago at another place, and it had faded to this odd conglomeration of dark red, peach, blonde, and magenta.
