There are customers line up at the self check-out, yet not a normal check out open. I ask a worker who is chatting with another worker if they are going to open a check-out, she looks at me as if I'm bothering her and says nope then goes back to chatting. Again, WTF? I've got a cart full and already put in my 8 hours for the day. Now they want me to do their job as well. Self checkouts weren't made for that. Originally they were made for the guy who has 2 items and didn't want to wait in the normal checkout. He could get out quickly. Now after 7 they want everyone to use them. Maybe if I got a discount, I would be more willing to self checkout but I'm paying full price. Like I said, I already put in 8 hours at my job, my job is hard physical work. There is still a wide variety of decent international staples, but it's highly focused on cult products and flavorings. Prepackaged and ultra-processed foods are becoming standard(s). Protein is down, carbs are up. There's still a reasonable variety of veggies, fresh, but not in wide abundance. Certain common items, like walnuts, go missing for long periods of time, and other items become seasonable and their shelf space is unreliable.
