My experience as usual sucked. I shop at night and treated like a second rate customer. All the checkouts are closed at 7. WTF? 7? There are customers line up at the self check-out, yet not a normal check out open. I ask a worker who is chatting with another worker if they are going to open a check-out, she looks at me as if I'm bothering her and says nope then goes back to chatting. Again, WTF? I've got a cart full and already put in my 8 hours for the day. Now they want me to do their job as well. Self checkouts weren't made for that. Originally they were made for the guy who has 2 items and didn't want to wait in the normal checkout. He could get out quickly. Now after 7 they want everyone to use them. Maybe if I got a discount, I would be more willing to self checkout but I'm paying full price. Like I said, I already put in 8 hours at my job, my job is hard physical work. I don't feel like doing their job too. What do you think? Are you ok working for Fry's for free after you worked all day? No other place makes you work when you go there, no restaurant makes you cook your own food, no doctors office make you do your own physical, no bar makes you pour your own beer or make your own drink. What does Fry's think they can make you work for free. I hope someone from corporate reads this and does what's right go back to the way they did it for years and years. This location is not one I would come to at night. Just because the area I don't feel safe as a female alone. However all the employees are super nice and helpful. Love that students get discounts on Tuesdays and Seniors get discounts on Wednesdays! But also expect those days to be busy!! I love to come to this location specifically for my SUSHI and Fruit!! It's one of the Fry's with the most fresh fruit. It's the closest one to my job! Works out Deals on Wednesday are the best for Sushi! That's what we did for our Valentines dinner! Saved money instead of going to a restaurant. And they now make Onigiri! The spicy tuna one was my fave overall. read more

I shop here for the gluten free flour at a good price and other gluten free items since they seem to have more than other grocery stores nearby. They have very rude customer service clerk at the service desk. I try to avoid that as much as possible. Your digital coupons are horrible... they don't work most of the time. I can count on $30-40.00 reimbursed to me for overcharging me. I use the app and my phone number...many times there's no service in the store. Too many clerks are rude and roll their eyes like I'm an idiot! Guess I'm an idiot to shop there. Trader Joe's is always friendly and the price advertised is the price. They don't have microscopic tags that says you must by 4 or 5 to get the deal...which that price tag number is huge... hmmm... maybe time for weights and measures to do a mystery shop! I have sent complaints to Fry's online without any response. I guess they don't care about their customers. I shop at the one at 555 E. Grant Rd which really slid down hill during the past year. They put the shopping carts on the outgoing traffic which makes it a burden getting one with running into people leaving. They seem to allow emotional support dogs which on occasion make a mess in the aisles. More homeless people jump you on the way to your car, and the cashiers seem to be almost non existent. They encourage you to use their self check out but with the high prices they are charging, I figured they could afford to hire check out people. The main aisles are crammed with displays which I am not sure how the fire department turns a blind eye to. It used to be nice to go shopping there, but now a burden. read more

Listen, all those god-awful Fry's Food Stores, they're all the same - they don't pay worth a damn and they treat their staff like trash. Most of the staff are great, especially the Starbuck baristas and sushi gentlemen. However that cant be said for all who I wont name. One of them, if they don't take a shine to you, they won't do business with you. I walk in, fresh out of a shower, in new clothes, not a hint of work grime on me, and what do I get? Accused of reeking of booze, of being an alcoholic. Couldn't even sell me a drop. The bottle I got did smell like alcohol, of course it did, 80 proof and all that, but maybe she just smelled it and made her choice. Yet one time, my roommate, a real piece of work himself, staggers into Fry's blackout drunk and somehow waltzes out with a 24 pack of beer - half of which he promptly spills all over the place in the parking lot. I had to go hunting for those cans the next morning. Another night, I'm standing in line for over an hour because some lady behind me wants to speak to a manager about a coupon to save 20 cents on a busy Tuesday night halting everyone, including the frat bros trying to buy some vodka and potato chips. The other cashier takes off to repack some lady's groceries, leaving his window empty. There were plenty of baggers around to do that. Then they have a computer glitch, and two people stand at the window for an hour. They should've been moved aside, but no, absolute mess of customer service. And to top it off, the cashier tries to cheat me with extra green onions. I get one pack, she scans in three, then acts like it's no big deal. Assumptions are stupid, plain and simple. And during the day, you've got 10-15 homeless gentlemen hanging around, asking for money, trying to sell you things which might actually be a better deal than what's in the store. The prices are through the roof, and the only time they sell things at a reasonable price is when it's "on sale." The store's a mess, and it's just not a nice place to do your shopping unless perhaps you were to buy some of those "beans" they sell in the parking lot. Warning to the ladies and anxious folk - It's dark, it's grim, and it's stuck in a sketchy neighborhood. Oh, and let's not forget the Trump supporter yammering on about their political views while folks are just trying to get some help. What a circus. read more

This review is for the Fry's gas pumps, and not the store itself. Gas is expensive all over right now, but the prices here were in line with the rest of the gas stations in Tucson so there was no sticker shock or reason to skip the pumps here. They have plenty of pumps, and this place was easy to get in and out of too, so I would stop here again when I need to fuel up. read more

It's ridiculous to me that you need to wave down a security guard and wait for him to enter a code to use the bathroom because NOBODY will tell you the code. Like chill it's a bathroom not a secret lair! Also may I add: I'm an instacart shopper so the 10 minutes I spent trying to hunt down a security guard messed up my time because I was supposed to spend 10 minutes shopping for the order. I never feel safe shopping there and have almost called the cops on multiple occasions. the workers are also rude, cold, and straight up mean to customers(or they'll even stand an inch behind you while you check out completely invading your personal space.) I just spent what felt like an extra 1/2 hour trying to get, then download and use a digital coupon. i walked out with out the item! fry's not only makes it hard to clip and use digital apps, but they have no recourse if you - try first alone, then with the checkout lane staff, and finally with the customer service desk and the app does not allow you to clip the coupon. I feel that the very rich making money off of these sneaky ( I have to watch closely at check out that all my coupons work- if not, you pay a lot more) annoying ( the amount of time spent on this scheme is ridiculous!) and sometimes malfunctioning digital coupons are greedy uncaring individuals that do not get the every day user. I feel exploited!!! Zero stars- staff was great, store policies from the top- crap!!!! read more

The only grocery store I know that still gives student discounts. That alone earns them a star. In many other ways, this location falls a bit short. I didn't realize how limited and understocked the store was until I went to another Fry's food. I do believe a lot depends on when you go. I tend to shop on Tuesdays, as there is the student discount (with ID), but it can become ridiculously crowded if you go later in the day. In terms of inventory, it depends on when you go. If you are unlucky, there can be entire empty shelves. What I do like, however, is checking the clearance areas as there are sometimes interesting items available. I prefer to go in the morning or early afternoon. The lady at the self checkout there in the first half of the day is super nice, and service like that makes all the other issues more bearable. The self checkout machines have had many issues, from not reading credit card, to not weighing the produce, to just spazzing out in general. read more

Instacart who I am on a 2 month free trial charge me $ 33.18 for a 7 pound bag of iams mini chunks dog food. Most of my instacart drivers are good but to have a small bag of dog food delivered (I have 7 dogs this will not feed them and I used Instacart because I am down with the flu) and I am on a 2 month free trial so all these fees they charged me were a rip off. They tell me my prescription are ready for pick up. There Pharmacy hours have always been open at 9:00am. I had a break from work so I ran down to pick them up. Sign says new hours start at 10:00am so they can "focus" on vaccinations. 3 people working, no one around getting vaccinated. The gal asks if I have a question, yeah, can I pick up my prescriptions, they are hanging on a hook right over there. Reply, no I'm sorry we can't do that. I say there is no one here for vaccines, you changed your hours, your talking to me now, can't we just get this done? Reply: No I'm sorry we changed our hours to focus on vaccines. I said, yeah, but there is no one here, no line, nothing and my prescriptions are within arms length. I'm sorry sir, I can't help you, you'll have to wait another 40mins to get what you came for. She spent more time telling me she couldn't help me than it would have taken to just help me. I'm done with Fry's, they are often way backed up, I had to remind them to put me on auto refill twice, I had to remind them to do 3 month refills twice, they change their hours then won't even help when it is clearly possible. My walgreens closed and all my meds where moved here. Called in a prescription from urgent care at 3pm. Came the next day at noon and it was still not ready. I just said ok and walked away. Said 15 min. Came back still not ready. Apparently Maria in the pharmacy really hates her job cause she asked for my DOB and name 3 times in the 20 min it took to get the meds. I guess it's what little power she had, so she felt the need to flex it. Will be moving to a different pharmacy. And from the reviews, this is a normal thing for them. read more

Look, I shop here a lot and I just don't get it. I know this coronavirus thing is going on, but really??? I have been to this store several times in the last week, Especially to buy my elderly mother who is very sick, food items that she needs, and there is nothing on the shelves that she needs, nothing has been replenished!! No canned foods, no soup, no water, no eggs, no dairy, no lunch meats, no TP, no bread, no pasta, no sugar, no flour, no paper towels, NO etc.!!!! I'm just wondering where all the food is that's stored in the Frys Food warehouse??? and why aren't the store warehouses replenishing or why isn't the store being restocked?? I mean occasionally they'll stock some eggs or some toilet paper, but what they put out is gone in seconds!! And this is it just this frys, its all of them in tucson, because I've been to several stores in the area and they're all the same! This is ridiculous!!! And it has to stop!! I really do think that Frys food stores is trying to sell off everything they can off their shelves, before they restock, because they want to get rid of everything that's old or expiring or couldn't sell, and then when its all gone, then they're going to restock and replenish. I've been going to this location for many years to get gas because it's very convenient last week. I went to get gas on the way to work and the kiosk was not open so I used my credit card at the pump and charged my gas today. My bank called me and let me know that my credit card information had been stolen off of that gas pump at that location And that people were trying to fraudulently charge on my credit card thank God I bank with a great bank and they take care of me so we quickly canceled the card and sent it to the credit card fraud department. Be careful at this location. It's not the first time that there's been a credit card reader on one of these gas pumps at this location, the gentleman I spoke with at my bank said it happened quite a few times. Never never use your credit card at the pump. These pumps will steal your credit card information and even could steal your identity. I was absolutely surprised and shocked as you can imagine. don't learn the way I did. Be careful at this location. read more

I had not been in this, my favorite Tucson Frys, for many months. Today was a SCARY experience. First I asked where the sterilized carts were having just come from a Frys that did this methodically. I was told they did NOT sterilize or wipe off carts, customer must do that. Most customers were wearing masks but did NOT stay 6 feet away. All grocery items I wanted were in stock, a good thing. Clerk and bagger that checked me out were very good and considerate and wearing masks. So this appears to be a management problem of this particular store. I've been shopping at different Frys stores all summer that were very Covid careful. So why did I return to this one? La Estrella tortillas and great Mexican food aisle. I genuinely dont write reviews -- let alone bad ones, but this Frys Grocery location has cost me time and money on multiple occasions (not to mention my roommates as well). When I first started shopping at this location (around August 2017), I would have to return to the customer service line due to the cashiers ringing up duplicates of multiple items in my shopping cart. Example: Had 1 box of Ritz Crackers, was charged for 2. This has happened 3-4 times, and this is a lot considering that Frys isnt my primary grocery (until recently). Meanwhile, their bakery doesnt label their pastries/breads correctly, causing the items to be mislabeled and ultimately a hazard for an unsuspecting patron. This has happened to me on two occasions, months apart mind this, and I've received wheat bread in sourdough packaging (I ended up just tossing it because I'm not the biggest fan of wheat bread), and garlic loaf bread in sourdough packaging (which caused my roommate to have a severe allergic reaction because it has full cloves of garlic embedded in the bread). This was just a few of the issues I had with this location. Meanwhile, my roommates had purchased cheese that expired in December last year (which was somehow FIFOed to the front of the display), and January of this year (both which were purchased this past month). Another roommate purchased a Beef Chuck Roast Steak from the meat department and found hair inside of the steak. Of course, they promptly lost their appetites. I understand that this is a frequented store that advertises to college students, so it does deserve a bit of slack... but as a full time college student myself, I dont have the time or the resources to keep going back to return food every time I shop. read more

They are requiring everyone to wear masks and are trying to get people to social distance (almost impossible in a grocery store, I know, but the pharmacy was having success). Great selection of food including vegan and vegetarian options. They had "dog log" (refrigerated, fresh dog food in a log) that not all stores carry. Great floral section, beer/wine/liquor. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Some empty spots on the shelves, but I know all stores are experiencing that right now and there were people working to stock those empty shelves. Oh, and they had caffeine free Diet Coke, which for whatever reason, has been tough to find during the pandemic. Thanks Fry's! read more

One of the best stores when it comes to customer service. The manager Ronnie has done an excellent job in boosting the customer service. All of the associates are friendly. The deli could use some work in terms of having hot food readily available. The produce area is average. The bakery area is excellent I always find my favorite pastry's in stock. The associates at the pharmacy are friendly Danielle is awesome. The security guards that they have from time to time seem to always be on their feet and alert. My only quarrel with this particular location is the amount of homeless pan-handlers that seem to gravitate to this store. read more

If they don't like you they won't do business with you. The manager at night (an old, blonde, fat, troll-looking lady) will kick you out of the store if you're a minority AND she will NOT sell you alcohol if she doesn't like you. I had just taken a shower, walked in clean and in new clothes different from my work attire and when I tried to purchase alcohol she claimed I "reeked of booze" and "smelled like an alcoholic" so she couldn't sell me the alcohol - the first alcohol I would have had in a week. (I only drink on weekends, like today, saturday.) Of course, the bottle of alcohol I got did smell like alcohol, that happens with 80 proof, so perhaps she smelled that and made her choice. However, DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FRYS, MANAGMENT ARE RACIST. Also, during the day there are 10-15 homeless people hanging outside, sitting on the carts or the curb and asking for money or trying to sell things to you. Also the prices are pretty jacked up, the only time they sell products at the true value (like what walmart will sell products for) is if it's "on sale". All in all, steer clear, badly managed store and terrible employees no wonder not a single Frys has a 3 star total review. It's a 2-star establishment at best. read more

The customer service here is fantastic. I shop here weekly and every time I do, I am greeted and offered assistance finding something by every worker I encounter. They are more than willing to help find a product. I shop with my 2 year old (which isn't easy) and the produce workers always remind me they have a free fresh fruit stand for the kids! I love this idea! There are always apples and sometimes oranges and bananas. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the workers and I have also observed they really seem like a family. They make jokes and get along with one another very well it seems. This says a lot about a business. Another reason I continue shopping here is the amazing variety of vegetarian/vegan options in every department. I would say it's better than any mainstream grocery store selection. Also, they carry the CALIFIA almond milk and it's usually cheaper than Target. read more
