Update (2 weeks later): We came back one last time before heading home, and somehow it was just as good--if not better. The staff continues to impress--attentive, warm, and they actually remembered us, which made the experience feel even more special. We even saw the young gentleman from Croatia again who had taken care of us on a previous visit--he was just as pleasant and even stopped by our table to say hello, which was such a nice touch. We dined later in the evening this time, and it was really special to see the staff, managers, and I believe even the owner all still there together. It felt less like coworkers and more like a family--which says a lot about a place. Food-wise, everything held up to our first visit (which is rare!). I couldn't resist and ordered the beef bourguignon again--still absolutely incredible. We also had escargot (note: it comes with béchamel unless you ask otherwise), and that amazing cassoulet loaded with different meats from the evening--it was spectacular. Went here 2 yrs ago and it was incredible. Went the other night and it was good. Had foie gras (no judging, I was at a French restaurant) which was good. I'd have preferred it a touch more seared and different toast as the cracker toast is less 'bendable' to soak up the fruit syrup. I managed to eat all of it . Then I had the duck. I was asked if I wanted medium rare and I agreed. For me that a touch too rate. The bartender swiftly sent it back for some more sear and it was delicious effect for me. I thought the leg could have used some more crunch in the skin but what do I know. The forbidden rice and citrus essence were quite delicious. My Dancing Monkey cocktail was very good. Gotta love velvet falernum in a cocktail. So rare. Nice ambiance but pretty empty in the bar this night. Lovely service. Good food. Good for a special occasion I'd bet. read more

The service staff is attentive and knowledgeable. The menu is brilliant! Offering so many typical French menu items, one visit is not enough. For the first time in my life, I had an escargot, which is softer, less chewy, than an oyster. I chose their crèpe, which I would call a croque monsieur crèpe because it is ham and cheese. Delicious! Simply an exceptional experience of elegant food and service. It is tucked away in a retail space that is deceiving. It should be in a Chateau, and when you walk in the space comes alive. We were seated for our reservation promptly. The Service was exceptional and precise. Monica was attentive offering suggestions and leading us the right way with wine, and helping us chose the right meals. We started with incredibly well crafted cocktails including a world class old fashion. The wine selection is expansive and relatively reasonable. The Bordeaux selected and decanted was wonderful. We started with scrumptious bread with butter and an exceptinal house made pate. For the main course, I had the beef burgogne that was simply extraordinary. The ambience is very soothing, with soft shades of green and snowy white tablecloths. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived for a late dinner, so there very little noise, just pleasant background music. The waiter was charming and very helpful. The wine list was long but not intimidating. I had a glass of Chenin Blanc to go with my escargot and salmon en papillote. The escargot sauce was buttery and garlicky with a touch of cheese -- absolutely delicious. The salmon was flaky but moist with an excellent béchamel sauce. My husband had a pear salad with vinaigrette dressing which he really enjoyed. His entree was the roast chicken with Brussel sprouts and pureed sweet potato. The chicken was lightly breaded with panko and very flavorful. He especially liked the sweet potato, which was creamy but light. We were too full for desert but happy nonetheless. I ended up coming here with a group of 7 tonight. The service was very good, the servers and helpers were very attentive. I ended up getting French onion soup as an appetizer and it was fantastic! It came out hot and delicious. The cheese was crusted perfectly around the sides. My main meal was the salmon and it was good. Not my favorite thing I've eaten and not least favorite. Went for lunch with a friend. From first impression with tables properly set with cloth napkins, etc., attentive service and a delicious properly displayed meal everything was perfect. My friend said the onion soup was the best she ever had. She also ordered the steak sandwich which was really good and the omelette was perfectly cooked and displayed with perfectly fresh fruit on the side. The coffee was fresh and served in a warm m. If you are looking for French Food in Hilton Head you need to diner here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a large group (11) so we got reservations. They do have a nice bar area so if don't have reservations you could sit there. Started off with some great appetizers. Yep, we got some Escargot, wow very good! Be adventurous and try them! Also got the Assisted De Fromage and Ratatouille. Both wry good. For dinner I got the special Filet with potatoes and Broccolini. Very good! On to desserts, we got one of each, I think! I don't know if I look forward to trips to Hilton Head more for the beach or for a dinner at Chez Georges. I can tell you this - the first thing I do after booking accomodations is book my reservation at this restaurant. When we travel, my wife and I hunt down French restaurants. We've hit great, good, bad and everything in between and Chez Georges is the best French meal I've had outside of France. Every single time - the consistency is remarkable. The environment is perfect for a French dinner. The service is impeccable, the wine list is excellent and everything seems geared to making your dining experience as good as possible. The food is exceptional. The duck dish changes sauces and preps on a regular basis but is never anything short of fantastic. I love duck and I've never enjoyed duck as much as at Chez Georges. I can't say enough about this restaurant. We are back in Hilton Head in June and I'm counting down the days until our dinner at Chez Georges. The last time we were there, we ended up having dinner at Chez Georges twice in one week because the first time just wasn't enough. read more

Really, really enjoyed this place. I took myself on a me-date and sat at the bar to have a drink and a meal. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, they really elevated the experience making it great. I treated myself to one of their cocktails. The Avec Leal was fantastic, I texted my friend who is into craft cocktails that he needs to learn how to make it. Then there was bread, butter, and pate brought out. I really, really liked that pate. I then got the poulpe octopus appetizer. I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I was expecting. It said it was going to be charred, but the texture was not at all what I was expecting. I still enjoyed it, but I think I would order something else next time. For the entree I got the boeuf bourguignon, and this was wonderful as well. As for dinner, I had the duck and it was so overwhelmingly sweet that it became difficult to eat it. After two bites I was done and just watched everyone else eat. Which is so disappointing when the dish was close to $50. My mom had the fish that was over cooked and my dad had the mussels which were fine. All together it was $400... As for the ambience.... Onion soup was an oily, cloudy, fatty oxtail mess with barely a slice of onion. See photo of the 1/2 cup of grease I skimmed off the top. The very worst onion soup in 40 years of dining out. Tall skinny, long hair bartender was aloof and never engaged anyone other than the bar fly who had a pre set wine glass and placemat waiting for him at the end of the bar by the kitchen door. Said bar fly walked around the dining room with his wine glass talking to - annoying guests as if he was Chez George himself. In between making a decent cocktail, the bartender stared into his phone, ignoring the dirty plates stacked up in between courses. He would be a good "service station" bartender at best. The shining stars were the beef Bourguigone, Salmon and the tiny jar of pate with bread service. Otherwise, this place falls way below the mark of a 5 star restaurant. read more

So glad I found this place on Resy! We went to Chez Georges for my birthday dinner. I HIGHLY recommend that you make reservations ahead of time since they were packed on a Friday night. I initially made reservations for 7 pm, but since my fiancé and I were hungry by 5 pm, I called the restaurant to see if they could take us in early and they happily obliged. We were greeted by a server and seated us right away. The restaurant is darling! The ambiance and the service were wonderful. We were offered sparkling water or filtered tap water and opted for the free water lol. We were also given bread with butter and chicken liver pâté (which was out of this world). We started with the grilled octopus, while I got beef bourguignon as an entree and my fiancé got the steak frites. I thought the food was amazing and presented very well. After dinner, we both shared creme brûlée. The only minute negative thing about the place is, I believe they got us mixed up with another table. When I made a reservation on Resy, I indicated that it was for a birthday. The server for the table next to us asked them if someone on the table was celebrating a birthday and they both declined. In that moment, I realized that may have been our table instead. No big deal about it, but it was just a funny mix up. It would have made my 30th bday even more special if our dessert came with a candle or something. read more

It's difficult to write a review for a place like Chez George's because it so clearly fits into the community. Each and every person we met was kinder and more welcoming than the last, with that theme echoing through the bar and dining room as waiters met their regulars. The difficulty is that level of enthusiasm and spirit didn't translate into the best food. Arriving for happy hour is hit or miss, but we made it in at opening around 1640. We took advantage of the bar specials ordering five plates along with three drinks. The plates are small. It's really small. Even for happy hour...small. Not only small, they all lack some luster. From the sauce with the escargot to the mayonnaise on the mussels, it's just somehow not French. Even worse was seeing our waiters pretend to steal and play with our dishes about to be served behind the bar. We paid just shy of $200.00 for our meal and left hungry. We had to go get dinner after dinner. And I know it's happy hour, but sampling half a menu and shelling out that level of money should reflect in a full tank. We came once and never again. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem in Hilton Head. I was told they opened 2 yrs ago and before it was just a bar. The inside is really nice and so tastefully decorated . There is a really nice bar when you enter and there fine dining is to the left. Its more of a smaller restaurant and cozy. Now , for the food, I did not have my phone on me to take pictures but everything we had was a wow! Full of flavor and the cocktails were delicious . The waiter was super friendly and told us they serve lunch and brunch as well . We will be back for lunch next time . The place was also very packed so that should tell you something ! read more

Reserved the bar for Father's Day, the bartenders are courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The food was terrible, inedible in fact. The ambiance looked like a bankrupt sports bar with wallpaper and hanging light fixtures. So I ordered the special, per recommendation, and I received thawed out duck with Jack Daniel's bbq sauce on it. The sides were interesting. Raw sweet potatoes with canned pineapple chunks. Yum. I think it goes without saying, we won't be back. After complaining about the food the drunk Italian owner slammed his palm on the bar and yelled, "Get the f$&@ out of my restaurant!"
