Interesting place. Food was good but not as described for some people in our party which was slightly annoying. The planchen was described as food being prepared in a cast iron pan ie chili lime shrimp being flavorful And seared which it was not more Like boiled and sprinkled with a few spices. My husband's dish was described as a gumbo and spicy was the furthest thing from that. It was good but again not at all as described. Lobster Mac and cheese pasta was bland and lobster was absent very disappointing. Jerk chicken arrived with no jerk sauce essentially roasted chicken... honestly kids grilled cheese and fries were the highlight of the evening. The reason it is important to describe items properly helps diners to select an item hence my husband doesn't like spicy so might have gotten the sofrito and I don't care for boiled shrimp vs a spicier seared shrimp which was what i was told. Had we known we would have made different choices. We were also charged for items we didnt receive. Not going to get into the service because our server tried hard but appeared extremely overwhelmed. My six-person family went to Coast yesterday to have lunch before settling on the beach for the afternoon. We just wanted a casual lunch on the patio. My mother and I went into the lobby to the host stand as directed by the signs on the deck. I'm dressed for a day at the beach in a one piece bathing suit, an oversized button down coverup that fully covers my bottom, and sandals. The hostess tells us, rather rudely, that everyone in our party must have a shirt, shorts, and shoes and I'll need to button up my top. This is not stated anywhere online or posted onsite at this restaurant literally located on the beach. We were able to sit in the lower section under an umbrella, but the upper patio area with fans was off limits due to my attire. Our waitress was nice. The food was good. read more

Going out with a crew of 11 can be a tall task, especially in Hilton Head where the restaurants are incredibly busy. Thankfully, we were able to book reservations for Coast so we made the trek to Sea Pines gave this place a shot. The place is located right next to the beach which makes for an incredible atmosphere. Unfortunately, the con is that a boardwalk cuts right through the outdoor seating and wet, sandy, beach goers cut through as you're eating. They said they couldn't seat all 11 of us together so we had to split two tables between the 11 of us. I don't know the reason but it's less fun to not have everyone seated together. We sat down and opted for some simple appetizers including the Shrimp Nachos. I typically try to steer clear of any nachos but they decent and good for a small group. For my main dish, I opted for a Whole Snapper. The fish was great but every time I get a whole fish, I forget why I usually don't. It's just extra to pick out bones and such, but the flavor and spiciness of the fish was good therefore it was worth the effort. I was able to try the Sweet Corn Risotto and Cashew Crusted Salmon. Both plates were delicious in their own respect and I would try them out if I returned. If you're visiting Sea Pines make sure to bring your day pass ticket to your waiter and they will apparently reimburse you. Unfortunately, we didn't find out about this until after we left. All in all, I enjoyed trying out this place but adding up the small imperfections, I don't think it's entirely justified in price. We still had a good time, I just wish more attention to detail was placed in the serving process. read more

This is our second time at Coast and this time we sat upstairs in the 21+ area. From the moment we walked in it was extremely welcoming. We had Stephen for our waiter and he was awesome. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a good meal and a great time. He was attentive and funny. His recommendations for drinks and dessert were on point. I highly recommend for dinner. We had calamari, halibut piccata, scallops and sweet corn risotto between the three of us and every meal was delicious. Oh and can't forget the key lime Bavarian which we would never have ordered but on Stephen's high praises we did and we were very glad we did! We will be back next year for sure! read more

Oysters were tiny, hush puppies were on top of the hot honey which left the top pups high and dry, the server didn't bring water refills even though we asked and overlooked a sauce for the skewered shrimp. My now fiancé and I got engaged right outside of this restaurant, on the beach! Firstly, I will say that I don't remember the food in great detail due to the emotions of the big surprise. I believe that everything we had was good, including the small seafood tower and the flourless chocolate torte. I believe we also got an appetizer, but I don't have a picture of it. Secondly, the service was AMAZING!! They truly made our evening so special. We immediately received champagne, they were able to seat us early, and everyone was so incredibly kind. The bartender (I forgot her name) recommended a few drinks, such as the devil's margarita, which was amazing. She even took photos of us outside and came over to our table a few times to make sure we were doing okay! I also got a dirty gin martini which was great. I cannot emphasize enough how truly special they helped make our evening. They went above and beyond. They have lots of outdoor seating but it's not really shaded unless you sit lower down at the umbrella tables. The bar was first-come, first-served, and it had seating with better views. The strawberry heat cocktail was good (not weak like everyone else on Hilton Head). The shrimp tacos were amazing! I craved them for days afterwards. My husband liked his old-fashioned & can dip. The hush puppies were good, but the portion was smaller than at other places we had been in the area, though the hot honey at the bottom was good. They gave me $10 off for the parking; however, there's no parking on site if you're not staying at the resort which sucks but luckily the guy let us in because it wasn't busy. The seafood sofrito was bad, with rice extremely overcooked, and an excessive amount of sofrito which made the dish colored red like there was dye on it. Also, listed as not spicy, it was very spice and not enjoyable. They also forgot one of the dishes and tried to compensate giving use free dessert but their key like pie was awful. The food did not disappoint, for appetizers we recommend the shrimp nachos, ahi tuna, and crab dip. We loved the seafood boil, redfish, and lobster Mac and cheese. Our favorite part was our server Hadije. She was so attentive despite it being a busy Friday night going into Labor Day weekend and was not only knowledgeable but fun. From the moment you step in, the service is top-notch. They call you by your first name and check in several times throughout the meal to make sure everything is going well. This is the kind of service you hope for when dining out. What stood out most is that it's not just your server stopping by -- the host who seats you, managers, waiters, and bussers all come by to make sure you're taken care of. Now let's talk about the food. If you're a Brussels sprouts fan, this is the place to come. The fried Brussels sprouts are served with fried pork belly -- and honestly, who can top that? The balsamic glaze on top is absolutely amazing. We also tried the short rib empanadas. They were good, though the flavor profile wasn't quite what I personally expected. The corn risotto dish normally comes with fried shrimp, but as someone who isn't a shrimp lover, they kindly accommodated my request and substituted blackened chicken. The combination of the blackened chicken with the corn risotto was outstanding -- a perfect balance of flavors. And don't skip the hush puppies. They're crisp on the outside, soft in the center, and have a sweet glaze that is absolutely to die for. We didn't get to sit outside because it was a bit cool, but the patio overlooking the beach is stunning and would be a wonderful place to dine when the weather cooperates. read more

went to Coast for the first time yesterday. We have been coming down to HHI / Sea Pines for years, but never tried it. We went for dinner around 5:30 so not vert crowded. Server was fine, didnt rush us and stopped multiple times to see if we wanted another beer (almost too often). I ordered the Market side salad and a cheese burger, my partner ordered a Cesar and the lobster roll. Both salad were well worth the $$7, although small. My cheese burger was ordered med/rare and came well, along with FF and the worlds smallest tomato and lettuce. The burger was on a large roll which made the dried out burger even drier. Not worth the $18. The Lobster roll at $32 was small and tastless. We won't be rushing back. Far better places on the island. read more

This place was amazing! From the live music during the day to our waitress. We went during the oyster roast and it was beyond pleasant. We had two buckets of oysters (each $28) and it was a lot. We also had the shrimp which we were instructions it came on ice at first until it came out, we asked the waitress for the hot ones and they were able to accommodate. The vibe was giving. We had to pay for a guest pass to access the resort to get to the restaurant. We got a credit with the restaurant for the parking pass price once we brought our parking pass inside for them to validate. We came here for a kid-free night out, and it was the perfect retreat. We were seated at a fire pit overlooking the beach and sunset, which instantly set the tone--warm, elegant, and full of coastal charm. The view alone made the experience feel special. We started with shrimp nachos and oysters, and both were outstanding. We cleaned the plates, which rarely happens for us. For dinner, we ordered the redfish and a butterflied filet mignon, and both were cooked impeccably--exactly to our liking and perfectly prepared. We were truly impressed with the quality of the food from start to finish. Our server, Kelly, made the evening even better. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful with menu questions, always checking in and making sure our drinks and water were refreshed. She even recommended an upstairs 21+ spot with incredible views, which was a great bonus suggestion. This restaurant offers everything--stunning views, an elegant atmosphere inside and out, exceptional service, and delicious food. My family and I (sometimes in groups of 20+) have been coming to Coast for years - sometimes multiple times per trip. I've always wanted to love this place as it's spitting distance away from the Marriott Monarch where my wife and I (along with my extended family) own 6 weeks collectively during the summer. It's been our family's meeting point and vacation destination for years. The only reason Coast isn't getting 1 star is because the food is phenomenal and when you occasionally get good service, this place is awesome. Our last meal here, the waiter was aloof for most the meal and almost spilled on my 11 month old due to clumsiness. I saved it by holding a menu over her head. My feedback comes mostly surrounding our evenings at the bar here. They have hap hazard hours for the beach bar, and you're always guessing when you walk over late whether or not they will be open. It's hit or miss whether the bar tenders will give you the time of day, or actually be nice. Tonight, it was the final straw when my family walked over after some time at the beach and they wouldn't serve us because we didn't have IDs (I'm 31, have a daughter, and own a timeshare). Mind you, this wasn't a problem when we dined in the restaurant. None of us were carded. Sea Pines in general has become more commercialized, corporate and less personable over the years. Highly recommend you check out restaurants and bars on other parts of the island. I'm sorry that our relationship has come to this, Coast, but your service is just god awful. read more

Visited from California and wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my boyfriend. We came on a Saturday night without a reservation, but the host was nice enough to give us a table on the back porch where the views were nice. One note is that the drinks were good and super strong! The food was a solid 7. The oysters were great, but the other seafood dishes were a bit bland. I would come back for another date night just because the ambiance was nice and moody. The cocktails were great and it was relaxing to look out into the coast. There's a direct path from the outdoor seating area to the beach! Headed to Coast for an evening business dinner. The upstairs lounge is the perfect setting for such a meeting. Upon entering, our group stood near the bar and were greeted by a very warm and professional staff. The bar is extremely well-stocked with a number of restaurant-selected wine options. Also, they have a phenomenal bourbon display with many upscale options for the bourbon enthusiast. Once we were seated at our table, we were able to take in the amazing ocean view. I could imagine this room being a great spot for a date night. The food feedback from my guests was all positive. Collectively, our table ordered: hush puppies, short rib empanadas, whole snapper, short rib special of the day, chopped salad with salmon, and roasted jerk chicken. Our table also shared a couple bottles of Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon. Great spot that I will definitely revisit. The only drawback was the $9 requested at the guard building upon entering the property. It's not that the $9 was a big deal, but I could see this being a minor drawback for some. I'd assume that Coast is aware of this and it would be nice if they were to validate or refund the entry fee for patrons who are just visiting the restaurant. read more

We moved to Hilton Head a few months ago and we're always looking for a new favorite place and somewhere to entertain our guests. Although it's a beautiful spot, this was definitely not it! It started off that they were not accommodating to my food allergy. When we finally found an appetizer that we could order, it arrived to us incorrectly. By the time the appetizer sauce arrived, the entrees had already arrived and we had already eaten most of the appetizer while it was hot. Major pet peeve is sitting there with empty glasses. We had both empty water and cocktail glasses. When we were finally able to order another drink (which we had to remind him again that we ordered), the beer glass came with at least 3 inches of foam on top. My third choice scallop entree (they wouldn't simply modify sauces for my allergy on my first two choices) was good, but the corn was charred so much that by halfway through eating it, all you could taste was char, not the scallops. It totally overpowered everything. I tried to put salt on it to see if that helped with the char taste, but the salt shaker was completely clogged. There wasn't a waiter around to swap it, so we proceed to bang it and clean the holes to get the salt out. My husband got the fish of the day and added a Caesar salad. The salad was warm, as if it had been under a heat lamp. The fish and sauce was really good, but the piece was so small, didn't have much sauce, and only came with some asparagus, so it certainly wasn't worth the $40++ we paid for it. And, paying extra for a warm salad wasn't worth it, either. I really wanted a dessert, as we were there celebrating both of our birthdays, but we were just ready to get out of there. It's sad because it's a beautiful, quaint restaurant with amazing views and a good bourbon selection. It could be something really special, but it seems to be a "churn the tourists in and out" place, not a local hang out place. I certainly won't be going back because they wouldn't make any effort for an easy adjustment to accommodate my food allergy, as most other fine dining restaurants will do. read more

I came to the coast to have some seafood. And it was delicious. I started off with the shrimp tortilla soup. The flavors were really good. My tortilla chips were a little soggy. But overall flavors were great and the broth was really good. I had the Cashew Crusted Salmon as my main course, and it was amazing, it is my favorite dish on the island. The puree and island rice just make the sweet flavors of the salmon taste so delicious. The cashews add the perfect amount of sweetness to the savory salmon. The service can be slow at refills but it's because this place is always packed. The view from the lower deck doesn't really exist, but the outdoors environment and seeing the seagulls and pelicans make it the best spot to have dinner. Our most recent dining experience was closer to 3.5 stars compared to our stellar 5 star meals here in the past. The atmosphere played most into this shift of ratings. The host placed us near a loud fan and initially would not turn it off or move us, despite there being another open table for a large party nearby. Thankfully they did come back and turn it off once our party expressed that we would not hear each other with this ambient noise. The music was also quite loud and stopped fairly early in the evening. The food was more successful in the appetizers than entrees. Seared ahi tuna was lush and flavorful paired well with a creamy slaw. Hush puppies were also a hit. I swapped grilled mahi for the cashew salmon entree. Overall it was just ok. Nothing stood out for flavor in the sides (except the sauce which was the same as the ahi tuna). Mine was also cold along with another meal at the table. We've been coming to this restaurant for years, I make the reservations, a several months in advance as I plan our annual week at Hilton Head..... when we got to the host stand 20 minutes early of our reservation she immediately insisted that we had to go inside even though my reservation was for the patio; when I tried to say that's not what I requested she said we had to or it would be a two hour wait for outside. We were seated inside and there were actually 15 tables unattended in the patio at this time and throughout the entire evening.....we sat with air conditioning condensation dripping on my sister.....and continually watched ALL of the patio open seating. July 13th 2026 Went there last night My husband made reservations and when we arrived, they told us that we were scheduled to go upstairs, but we couldn't because we had our grandson with us well when we made the reservations, nobody said anything about the fact u had to be over 21 to go upstairs. So one of the hostess took us to a table and there was seven of us and tried to put us at a 5 person table and never came back to give us more menus so I politely got up and went to the front desk here they were talking about us.
