I had friends from out of town and we wanted to do a nice dinner. I had intended to visit the Sage Room, room so this was the perfect time. We had a reservation and one of the high tops on the edge of the bar, which was just perfect. There are seats to watch the open kitchen at work, outside seats, and dining room seats in addition to the bar area. The hostess was more than accommodating and welcoming upon our entrance. Marquis was our server and he was beyond excellent! We chose a variety of food items and happily shared taste with each other, so we got a wonderful sampling of the food. I wanted to extra special wine, so I peruse the wine list. I decided to ask Marquis if he had any Amarones available, though they were not on the list. The Sage Room goes above and beyond expectations. We have been wanting to go, but it's pretty hard to get reservations so this was a lot of planning ahead. It was completely worth it! Expect to be there for a couple of hours, they do not rush you out and will let you know how much time you have. It's a lot of fun to watch the chefs all well coordinate their beautiful and tasty dinners. My husband got the pork chop and I got the fillet Benedict. Started with a couple Caesarsalads- fantastic Wine list. Both meals were 15 out of 10. We have a high-end steakhouse that has been our favorite, but I think Sage Room just beat them out. The food and service here was incredible. We had a very loud obnoxious table of drunk overaged diners, and the staff was so kind and helpful they let us switch our table without issue, and apologized though it wasn't their fault the diners were behaving this way. All the food was delicious; nothing further to say. The manager even stopped by to give a congratulations, and was as sweet and lovely as could be. Party of 4 out for a special dinner. Parking is fine. Inside seating in 3 rooms-tables spaced ok but being packed it generates noise. Service was good. The main hit was the menu--offered a number of high priced items. The food was disappointed. It all was not hot just warm- big negative. Scallop's were very small in number with a good sauce. Lobster Carbonara would've been a good seafood noodle dish: only 2 shrimp, lobster was hiding in a lot of noodles, crab could not be found. Sea Bass & short ribs good but would have been much better if hot. If you go be prepared to pay a lot--not a good value. read more

Service here was good, we had a great server. We ordered an old fashioned that came with muddled orange slices and cherries, crushed ice, and was topped with soda. It may have been the bartenders first day on the job, but this was just insulting. We sent it back, and got the "mad hatter" instead, which was alright. We then ordered the spring roll appetizer, but the tuna came out instead. This was a lucky mistake, because the tuna may have been the best part of our meal. After our appetizer, we ordered the grouper special as well as the filet cooked medium. Unfortunately, it came out well done, and smothered in A1 sauce. On the menu, the sauce is called "tomato burgundy sauce". Outback Steakhouse may serve you a better piece of meat. The grouper special came highly recommended by our server, but had absolutely no flavor to it. It was very very underwhelming. Overall, do not go here if you are looking for a good meal. You will not find it at the Sage Room. Atmosphere was alright, we sat on patio which was much nicer than the inside. Music was awful, it was a mix between pop country and jazz which was strange. Went here with a large group and had a good time. The staff were attentive, food and drinks were good. Our only negative was the "focaccia" bread that was served. We were expecting a soft, pillowy, delicious focaccia with its trademark dimples and lightly browned crust, with maybe a little bit of rosemary. Our hearts were shattered when we were served some nondescript bread. Might have been Italian loaf? Not sure, but it sure wasn't focaccia. We managed to grab a table for outside dining on a chillier than usual night (thank goodness for those heat lamps). All-in-all we had a very pleasant dinner- highlighted by some excellent apps (great onion soup) and excellent drinks. Overall, foodwise, what I would say is although the menu isn't incredibly creative (you'll likely have seen all these same dishes on menus elsewhere), they execute their versions quite well. We have had this on our list for a while and scored a reservation at 6 on a Wednesday. The service was on point here as well as the ambiance and decor. Novel set up with part of the bar overlooking the cooking area. The food was good we ordered a variety of things. The tomahawk pork chop which came with mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and cinnamon apples was a great choice and was steaming hot from start to finish. Others at the table had the chicken and fish dishes which were also delish. The appetizer focaccia was not really what I would call focaccia - it was a little too thick. The olive oil dip was very good with fresh herbs but the cinnamon butter with Black Sea Salt was underwhelming. As bad as I hate to I have to give this place 4 stars because of the dessert. We ordered the salted caramel crème brûlée. The top had beautiful caramelized sugar but the custard was broken and had the texture of cottage cheese. Had a really nice dinner here! I was able to snag a reservation late on a Thursday night and enjoyed a great meal. I started with the snow pea martini. It was delicious and the price tag can't be beat, especially at a place like this. For the entree I opted for the ribeye. It was good, the grill marks were a nice touch. Dined at the bar last evening. Ed waited on us. Was a lovely experience. It was so inspiring to see all the staff work together. It's been our special occasion restaurant for many years. Excellent food but pricey and now with a 3.95% credit card fee. Throughout dinner we had to work hard to get our waiter, Lisa, to smile. Not friendly. Little eye contact. Didn't engage with us. Took the order, brought the bill. That's the second time we've had service like that. Maybe that's how they treat tourists, thinking they'll never see them again anyway. With so many good restaurants on the island, the cool service and the credit card charge are enough for us to move on. They don't need us, they'll be fine. read more

We had a really excellent meal here. At our table we ordered short rib, scallops, and miso Chilean seabass, and they were all delicious (I could not rank a favorite!). We also got the creme brûlée for dessert which was even better than expected (not my first choice!). We also had the shrimp meatball appetizer that was a special that night and we ended up ordering a second serving because it was so good. Crème Brûlée for desert and you have a night to remember!! Sage, according to my grand mother, is one of HHI's most prestigious restaurants. Family styled restaurants are hard to come by on the Island, but Sage is certainly deserving of being in the upper echelon of fine dining in the area. A bit fancier than most, you can immediately tell by its age demographic what kind of dining experience you're getting into. Whit table cloths, dimmed lighting, and for some reason, house music? I didn't get that part, but the rest is high end. For a starter, we grabbed the sweet potato gnocchi. On a warm rainy day, this was the perfect appetizer to temporarily raise our body temperatures. The rest of the menu see's prices all over $30, which is pretty fair for some of HHI's best food. My entree was the short rib. This was the best short rib I had consumed in some time. Cooked beautifully and its biggest surprise came from a bbq flare that I wasn't expecting. I also was able to dive into my sister's tomahawk pork chop. For a petite 20 year old, this was probably too big of a serving size, but it was so dang good I wish I ordered one for myself. We finished the night with a selection of three great desserts. The key lime pie, strawberry cake, and creme brûlée were exquisite. Ending on a good note, and thanks to a good word of mouth, I can definitely say that Sage is my restaurant on the Island by far. read more
