This place reminded me of the old school supper clubs in Chicago. The bar was full of locals sharing stories and being loud in only the way locals can. The atmosphere is definitely 4 stars. It feels incredibly Italian-American. The food however...it's more eye-talian than Italian. The food's super rich and the portions are large, but the flavors Now, onto my dishes: Bruschetta Trio - you MUST try this. The appetizer comes w/ 3 kinds: House-ripened tomato, Sauteed mushroom, Cannellini bean & broccoli rabe. Delicious. fresh fish of the day (flounder) - comes w/ creamy butter, lemon caper sauce - i asked for sauce w/o butter - it came with butter. I'm afraid of how much butter would have filled the dish if I hadn't requested no butter. The salad was iceberg lettuce DOUSED in parmesan dressing and a couple of cherry tomatoes. Somehow whenever my family decides to eat in Little Italy, we wind up at Sabatino's. While I'm a fan of the Bookmaker salad and a lover of Italian food in general, I've just never been drawn to Sabatino's and have always wanted to find another Little Italy location that I like more. This is how I wandered into Chiparelli's on a Friday night, hoping for the best, and I found what I was looking for. The food was fantastic. I was already full before my meal came from the fresh italian bread, great antipasto and calamari, and an extremely generous less-than-healthy house salad packed with cheese and a homemade creamy dressing. The Chicken Vincenzo/Veal Bryan (essentially the same dish, different protein) were OUTSTANDING. My boyfriend had a seafood pasta that was delish. Chicken parmesan did not disappoint, either. To top it off the service was fast, friendly, and best of all personal. Our waitress was total "hon" style Baltimore all the way, and she doted on our table. I purchased two Groupons for Chiaparelli's in early 2011, and just used the first one a few weeks ago. I have always heard that this place was really good, and I love italian food so I really wanted to try it out. We went on a Saturday night, and when we got down there around 5:30 in the evening there we arrived to Valet parking. I don't think the Valet parking is affiliated with the restaurant, but it costs $10 for them to park your car and pick it up as well. So, that was pretty decent since you didn't have to drive around to find a place to park. I ended up ordering the Spaghetti & Meatballs and was really happy with it. I also got the House salad and an order of Mozzarella sticks. The house salad at Chiaparelli's is really really good. Apparently, most people agree that is one of the best things about the restaurant. The mozzarella sticks were also really good. It was called Fried cheese on the menu. They were rather big, and I might pass on the appetizer next time. The spaghetti & meatballs didn't disappoint, and I would likely get it again next time I go back. The sauce was pretty good as well as the meatballs. The one thing that I was disappointed in with this restaurant was the roll of bread they serve. It's cold, and a little bit hard. Chiaparelli's should really serve warm bread rolls. Would it really take that long to put them in the oven or microwave to warm them up a little bit. What made our experience earn the fourth star was the sweet, enthusiastic, friendly Baltimore gal who was our waitress. The house salad was huge and definitely cheesy. Grandma's Ravioli is definitely a bigger portion than you see in many places (seriously, why do most joints think four raviolis are sufficient?) and was tasty. The tiramisu was velvety and rich. I was in town for work and heard about the Little Italy section of Baltimore so I headed over there on foot from my hotel by the Inner Harbor area. Just by chance I found Chiapparelli's Restaurant and wandered in to have dinner. I started with the mussels which were big and delicious. The sauce/broth in which they come makes a great dipping sauce for the garlic bread which accompanies this starter. After a second Loose Cannon IPA draft I decided iI was still hungry and ordered the seafood raviolli after a brief consultation with my bartender. They were obviously homemade and very good. Chiapparelli's seems to be riding its reputation rather than putting out fantastic food. As everyone says the bread is served cold, which would be better heated. The garlic bread for $4 was incredible! We all fought over who would get 1 of the 4 slices and wish they would serve it rather than the cold boring bread. The salad is the best thing with dinner and is a mixed bag as for what you will get. Last visit we had almost no cheese on the salad and this time there were tons. Also, you may or may not get onions, tomatoes and peppers in equal portion to your dining guests, since they don't measure and toss the salad randomly. The veal sambocco (sp) was very good, but this time the chicken parm was a bit of a disappointment. Yes, the chicken cutlet was fine, but the tomato sauce was very runny and didn't taste like much and the spaghetti, which did look homemade had no taste. So, the dish was rather bland and not seasoned. I almost never put salt or pepper on my food and at Chiapparelli's I was dying for some flavor. The restaurant has a nice homey family feel, but the food itself needs to be reinvented for modern times. I think next time I'm in Little Italy I will try some of its competition to get a better reading on how this restaurant compares since Chiapparelli's was great, but wasn't bad either. read more

Never been, but a girl I was seeing raved about this place. When I walked in it was pretty busy but I didn't mind waiting a moment, it was Sunday night after all. The wait altogether was only 35 minutes which wasn't too bad except the hostess wasn't quite the most pleasant person. It seems like she was in no way organized, several two top that came in after us we're seated before us. And I wasn't sure if I should laugh or walk out when she stood on a chair and started yelling out orders at the customers. If my date hadn't really wanted to be there I just woulda went across the street. But as soon as we were seated everything was great. I had way too much of the house salad, which was extraordinary! And even though the wait staff was really busy, I never felt ignored. The young girl that was waiting in us was so friendly and recommend the chicken venchanzo which was amazing! And the food was paced great. And my date really loved the wine list (I hate wine) and remarked on how well the food paired with it. Overall, I would say the experience was great if you ignore how the evening started. The bill was only $150, so totally worth it. I didn't have the mediocre experience some had that posted here. i thought it was great. The bread was not warm as others had complained about, but as an Italian, we do not dip warm bread in the olive oil. At least not in my family. it was delicious. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce and it was excellent sauce. not runny, just enough. i just wish they used home made noodles. the service: I went during lunch time and it was 108 degrees outside. The greeter, Joe, I think his name is; was FANTASTIC. So nice and attentive. He sat us, and noticed we were fanning ourselves with our menu (we just walked from inner harbor in 108 degrees and were roasting.) I overheard him tell someone to turn down the air because we were hot. this is SERVICE. this city doesn't have the best customer service, and this restaurant was a step above. He walked us to the bathrooms to make sure we found them OK also. Our waitress was very nice, refilled our drinks and gave good suggestions on items on the menu. We are here from out of town for medical treatment at Johns Hopkins. We have eaten here twice, and both times were wonderful! We had the chicken Parmesan and spaghetti-very good! Huge loaves of homemade bread, and the enormous Chips salad are icing on the cake! Highly recommend! read more

I've been going to Chips for awhile. We order Mother's Day dinner and it was a disappointment. The salad is normally so good. The dressing was on the side but missing ingredients. It was only oil and a few seasonings. I think the biggest stand out was the vinegar that's was missing. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until after dressing the salads. At that point it is too late. I called the restaurant and the woman (owner) was very rude. She completely dismissed me and then hung up. I just thought they should know they are handing out premade dressing that isn't their signature dressing. She literally hung up on me. I won't be back. That isn't acceptable and there are too many other businesses who will be kind. Do yourself a favor and go to another restaurant. read more

I don't know how this restaurant is getting such good reviews. My family and I went hear yesterday and not one of us enjoyed one thing about this place. This is the restaurant that finally turned me off on Little Italy Baltimore. Olive Garden is 100 times better than this restaurant. There is not one redeeming quality here at all. The service is sub par, the food is wretched, and the price is far too high for their attempt at Italian food. I was a waiter at Germanos while in college and they served great Italian. My wife and I ate there Oct 12 2019. I ordered the cheese ravioli, which were about 2.5 inch square. There were 5 of them. I had two. They were like eating paste. Very little cheese and the pasta was not rinsed. My wife had the seafood ravioli. Same but the seafood was not to be found. Their sauce was very bland. I hosted a birthday dinner here this last weekend. Our party had 15 guests and we needed our own room because we having a "murder mystery" dinner which included props, an actor etc. (NOTE: the restaurant does not offer the murder mystery, we hired an outside company to set it up and just used the restaurant as a venue). Ashley was really helpful and reserved a room upstairs in the restaurant for our party without an extra charge. A few complaints I had were with service, it was really slow. We received no refills at all for our drinks, I had to flag the server down to get our entree orders and also our server was just not checking up on our table at all. Other than that- the food is great, the restaurant is pretty , and they are accommodating to larger parties. They also offer valet! read more

What an excellent dinner we just had! My cousin was in from Texas, and is staying in the Inner Harbor, so we decided on this staple of Little Italy. Three of us ordered the Chip's salad dinner sized, some added shrimp and I added salmon. Both were delicious! The dinner salad is no longer on the menu, but they offer it with Chicken, Shrimp, or Salmon, or plain! The other two went for angel hair and meat sauce, and lasagna with meat sauce. All plates were empty by the end of the meal! The nice thing about a place like Chiapparelli's is you know you are going to get a quality meal at a reasonable price. The surprising thing, having not been there in over 5 years, is the number of young families in workout gear in the dining room. We were casually dressed ourselves, like business casual, but there was a lady in a tank top and running shorts. It's a restaurant, people! No one want you sweating all over the seats! Anyway - the staff was exceptional, the food was delicious, and I wish I had leftovers for lunch, which I should based on the size, but I don't. Will be back soon to try more. OH!! Apparently the spumoni is made with The Charmery ice cream, so next time I'm saving room for that! read more

Little Italy in general is a really fun place in Baltimore, but Chiapparelli's is my favorite. The house salad is simple but delicious, the ambience is great for any occasion, and the pasta is out of this world. What a great find in Little Italy...thanks Yelp. We found this little spot after a quick search of restaurants close to the convention center. The restaurant has a great ambiance, lots of brick and wood, lots of photos on the walls. Helen our waitress was a crack-up and we enjoyed our time at the restaurant. The food was really good. We started with Bruschetta Trio, bread with 3 different toppings including the traditional tomato, sauteed mushroom and broccoli rabe/cannellini bean. We also ordered calamari and arancine (arborio rice & parm cheese/deep fried and served with marinara sauce). The bread basket was ok but the bread was cold and there was no olive oil for dipping. I resorted to using extra marinara sauce. Entrees were also very good including my dish of manicotti. This was served in a small casserole dish with about 3 lbs of cheese. But it was oh-so-good. Other dishes eaten at our table included the fish of the day (flounder and salmon), the Chiapparelli's Tour - eggplant parm, fettucini alfredo and lasagna - and spaghetti and meatballs. read more

This place might have been better if I visited with a smaller group. Went here on a Friday at 6:30 pm for a meet n greet with 75 ladies. There were about 5-6 servers assigned to us with each server being responsible for 1-2 tables. They promptly took our orders for entrees around 7 pm (after most of the guests had arrived). Most of us snacked on bread and butter until 7:30, when the house salads arrived a slimey mess. It was obvious that they had been made and dressed hours ahead of time. Who does that?! Side note: it's hard to tell that bread is home made when it's ice cold. Again: who does that? Around 8 pm, before the food arrived (and before playing a game of entree bingo). I had to ask a server to make my order to go. I was finally able to leave at 8:30 with my doggie bag. I was delighted that my food was still hot. The lasagna ordered by my partner was great with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. I, however, was dissatisfied with the flavor of the Besto Pesto which was slightly off- perhaps not enough Parmesan cheese. And way too oily- with 1/8 cup oil (measured) at the bottom of my takeout tray after I transferred my leftovers to a plastic container. Yuck! On the plus side: I live in Baltimore where I can easily get authentic Italian food in Little Italy. Luckily, there are places other than Chiapparelli's to get it. read more

There were 6 of us, and dinner took FOREVER ( 2 1/2 hours!). It was almost 20 minutes before the table received the ordered bottle of wine, and personally, I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio that was served at room temp. You don't get salad options, and the one that's served has more parmesan cheese than I could stand to eat (awful.) To boot, our server was also playing the role of bartender, so the service was SLOW. I ordered the seafood ravioli, which was delicious...but for $26 you'd think you'd get more than 4! Once we declined dessert, the server brought our check. Because we were there on business, we were still in discussion. Not once did our server come back and ask if we wanted any more drinks, even though we were there for almost an hour after the check was paid. I'm somewhat new visiting Baltimore so naturally I checked out the various rating sites for dinner (yelp, yahoo, etc) and all listed the same 5-6 names as "the" place to go - none had Chiapparelli's in the top list. TOO Bad - this place rocks. And I learned about it from a bartender at Peters and was encouraged by folks on the street. Damn glad I came here. First the atmosphere was great. I sat at the bar in the lounge (here alone on business) and it was great. Comfortable, friendly and somewhat busy. The wine was great. Chip salad fantastic. And the homemade spaghetti with peppers and sausage and marinara gravy was EXCELLENT!! And I can't believe how reasonably priced it is!!! Chiapparelli's rocks. Went to Chiapparelli's on a snowy Sunday and had a great experience. The restaurant felt so cozy with the snow falling down outside. To start, I got the small Chip salad, which was amazing. For the entree I got a delicious vodka penne. We wrapped up the meal some yummy cheesecake. We will definitely be going back. read more

From the bread being cold and hard to the appetizer just okay then the dinner entrees were not too delicious. The salad was soggy. During a pandemic, and during times where sales may not be as high customer service is imperative. If you see someone walk into your establishment, please greet them even if you are busy. The customer service rule of thumb is greet them within 10ft of them walking in or 10 seconds whichever comes first. As someone that has been in the customer service industry for almost 20 years...a little goes a long way. A simple hello, someone will be right with you definitely will help. Communication is key, if an order is not ready please communicate that to the customer as to not have someone just standing there looking lost. Please work on this, thank you read more
