I brought my old small electric table clock in today to see if it could be fixed to run again. The store employee oiled the clock, and when briefly plugged in it ran. the charge was $35. When I arrived home, the clock no longer ran when plugged in. I called the store and was told I could receive a $35 credit on the $350 next cost of fixing the clock. The clock has sentimental value to me, however the original cost of the clock was less than $10 long ago. I recommend asking the repair price before the repair work is done. I paid the $35 and would have been satisfied if the clock continued to work, but I would not have agreed to the initial $35 repair cost if known before the 2 minute repair and I won't be returning For the next $350 repair. read more

I eventually received a refund, from a very understanding manager from another Chicago Clock location, after bringing my clock to Elgin clock repair company to have the movement replaced. They advised that my movement did not appear to have been refurbished and was over oiled. Maybe they had it so long that they mistakenly thought it was repaired. I appreciate the female manager for reaching out to and rectifying. I do plan to use them to clean my Grandfather clock in the future and see if this was just a fluke. I had always been very happy with them before this incident and am confident tat they can regain my trust. Sorry for the late update. I've called plenty of places to see if it could be done, but no other clock place wanted to mess with it. After speaking with Jay, he was ready to take on the task - without any problems. I own a Welby 400-day anniversary clock on which the suspension spring (holding the weight) had snapped. I'm quite handy, so I dismantled the clock, saw that the spring had snapped, and decided to call the Chicago Clock Company in Orland Park to see if they carried the spring. The person that answered the phone was very dismissive and rude, simply stating that I would need to bring the clock in "for an estimate". No question as to what clock I had or what thickness of spring I needed. I can buy the spring online for $2.50, but wanted to bring my business to a local merchant. So much for that. This was my first time here and definitely became a loyal customer. About 7 or 8 years ago, I received an Invicta watch from my cousin. Since then, I've been procrastinating on getting it sized to the point where the battery died. After resizing it (thanks to a coworker of mine), I searched Yelp for a good watch repair shop and found this place and thought to give them a try based off of their positive reviews. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a welcome smile and they took my watch in the back to work on it. There's a plethora of various clocks to view while I was waiting from old grand Dad clocks to modern ones. They told me that my dead battery actually leaked but they still attempt to replace it. After everything was said and done (and a leaking dead battery), they told me it was able to be replaced and they set it correctly and everything. Overhauled ships clock died a slow death after a year and a half of constant issues.

This is not true both are not working. SHE WAS CORRECT THAT THEY DO NOT STAND (warranty) BEHIND THEIR WORK. Second the worker did offer that the clock could be reconditioned, BUT that this clock was working very well and probably wouldn't need it for a long time!?! Although the web site says "unmatched customer service" I'm not sure why they haven't responded to the message I had sent their customer service via their web site more than a week ago (And also followed up with another message several days later in case the first one fell through the cracks.) I had made a purchase and asked for some help, since no user manual is included in the box with the watch and the instructions to obtain it from the manufacturer's web site don't work. It would have been a smoother customer experience if the store would have set the watch's time and date when purchased. However since that didn't happen, it would have helped save me quite a bit of time if some response was provided to smooth out the outdated instructions for obtaining a user manual, without having to spend a lot of time unsuccessfully trying to get the user manual on-line based on the code on the back of the watch or without having to make a number of phone calls. The disjointed process for getting the user manual is Seiko's fault, but I wish Chicago Clock would have been more responsive when asking for their help. read more

I needed to get a new battery for a watch, and a new band since the old had worn out. I found Chicago Clock Company on Yelp and was glad I did! I walked in and was greeted warmly. They took the watch back to replace the battery, and while I was waiting we looked at watch bands. I have a large wrist and I can rarely find extra long bands. I wanted a new watch band installed on my Seiko SKX0013K2. I've heard this is not an easy swap on this watch. With the watch almost new, I wanted professional service. That's what I got. I called first and was kindly encouraged to come right by. Parking could not have been easier. I was warmly greeted and the work on my watch was immediately initiated. It took almost a month to get them out to my house for a grandfather clock evaluation. But it's because they're super busy--nobody does this work anymore. The gentleman who came was excellent. Explained everything super clearly and carefully cleaned and repairs the clock on site! For the price I paid ($100), I was very happy with what I got. Wish the women who did the scheduling had somewhat better customer service skills, but I think they're just overworked. Spoke to a different repairman over the phone than the one who came out. Best place to get batteries replaced and clocks and watches fixed for a great price and GREAT people to talk to and will be honest with you. I first went to Chicago Clock Company because my watch wasn't working right after I had a new battery replaced at another place. Initially, I thought they would need to fix it and I was asking to see how much to fix it. They not only found out that it was the wrong battery put in from the other place but they put a new, correct size, battery in for a discounted price. I eventually needed a piece replaced and they fixed it quickly and the 8 year old watch actually looks like it's brand new again! Since then I have been taking all of my watches, as well as two of my father's pocket watches and had batteries replaced and fixed two of the watches for a great price that was cheaper than other places I asked. Jason actually helped me pick out a different clock and did an exchange from the one I originally bought (it was for another person and they had one like the one I picked) and the clock is amazing and the best part is that you don't hear the ticking of the second hand moving. Each time I have gone in I have spoken with Susan, Jason and even Larry and they were all very helpful and it made my experience so pleasant which is another reason why I keep going back. read more

It seems to me that my experience with them today is a dream. I had a tight strap in my Jacob & Co Epic II. I put in my watchmaker's hands a new rubber $ 450 value. My watch was damaged, the rubber was curled on one side. The service was not executed at all. My old rubber was also shortened. The watch is not suitable for use at the moment. At home I saw the bolts were turned backward. Watch value $ 23000. I have photographic documentation because I am a collector. Tomorrow's watch along with rubber goes to expertise for jacob & co for NYC. Currently I have destroyed 2 rubber and badly folded watch. Instead of apologizing, the owner called the Police. I'm going to take them to court. He will also make a case to the BBB. I do not advise any repairs there. It also deals with consumer freud. You will also show photographic documentation.
