Dr. Vaidya is not only highly intelligent and skilled but he's also compassionate and thorough. All the MDs are great! I would not use their OD services, though. The office doesn't accept any vision insuance coverage, and the optometrist (O.D.) sent me home with the wrong refraction and then didn't realize her error until over a week later. No apology! No explanation from the OD as to how this happened! Nothing!. The phone call notifying me came from a very young receptionist. Chicago Cornea Consultants is a borderline scam. While they have nice offices in the same building as Rush Medical, they will take your money and then not provide standard follow up care to solve your problem. I was referred there to treat an eye infection, and after giving them $1,000 and scheduling a follow up exam with their optometrist, I couldn't get the doctors to renew a basic prescription to eliminate an eye infection in one eye - which is why I went there in the first place. Save your money and go to someplace more reputable. read more

I had EVO ICL surgery with Dr. Majmudar one year ago and it was the best decision I could have made. Getting up and immediately looking for glasses to waking up being able to see everything is a life changer. The staff from front desk to technicians is great. I had my surgery in their office and it is very nice and clean. Surgery itself was very quick and done within 20 mins. Dr. Majmudar is a great doctor who takes his time explaining things to you and the procedure and checks in on you throughout the surgery. Stay away from this place... The billing and attempt to cover insurance was weak. Left me with call after call from the surgical center asking for more money. The billing manager who was part of the sales process was shifty and not able to explain the details of what the bill would be for the service and was adamant that insurance doesn't cover most of the services which I questioned several times and even confirmed with the insurance company that the whole enchilada was covered except specialty lenses. Seems like they didn't want to receive pre-adjusted insurance rates and would rather take the cash. The Dr is saw was initially rude and seeming living an entitled life... i was going to pass altogether but my vision was getting so bad that I needed the surgery so I went ahead. It was a success so I cannot complain about the surgery although it is routine... It is just disappointing that a doctor services company directly associated with Rush is dicey... this reflects poorly on all parties and sorry to say, Rush included. RUN AWAY! My wife and I were happy with Dr. Epstein. He is all Business and straight to the point. (May rub some people wrong way) I will try to make this short. My wife went in to see Dr. Epstein and he diagnosed her with cataract. He also recommended her to get Toric IOL & ORA. as medically necessary. Dr. Epstein had us talk to Rebecca surgical nurse/insurance. First thing out of he mouth was the lenses are not covered under any insurance. I asked Rebecca to try and put it through our insurance. We have BC.BS. and an excellent policy. She was arguing with me about putting it through our insurance. Rebecca told us there are no medical codes for these procedures (I should have ran out the office right then and there) 5 Calls to my insurance we found there are medical codes to cover these procedures. BC.BS called Rebecca and Saundra (billing manager) asking them to send a form to BC.BS. for approval. Rebecca and Saundra refused to send the Forms for approval. Stating that it was not in their policy to send in for pre-approval! BC.BS. pre-authorization department told us she NEVER had a provider refuse to send in paperwork. 3 days before my wife's surgical procedure Rebecca canceled her surgical procedure by email didn't even have the common courtesy to call us! We are looking for a new ophthalmologist/cornea specialist now. read more

Dr M, Dr Epstein and all the other dr's, nurses & staff are excellent. You know a an office is good when the waiting room is packed & people come from other states for help. Dr M has been working with my mom and he is such a nice man and really cares about his patients. They are extremely thorough and make sure you feel comfortable. I've been in both Hoffman estates & highland park office and they are all the best. I've never once heard a patient complain, only compliments. Chicago Cornea has helped a lot of people with their vision etc. I've recommended them to several people and they all say the same thing. The Dr's all make you feel comfortable & explain everything well. They care about they're patients and aren't quick to do something unless it has to be done. They're all excellent and highly recommended. Five star rating is well deserved. read more

I was actually reluctant to return here because I saw the reviews on here, but had been here in the past and decided to return even thought it's out of my way, MY MISTAKE. This office is the most unorganized mess! You have me call in to tell you Ive arrived before coming in, I appreciate that in a pandemic but I still wait 15 minutes with other patient in the waiting room(During a pandemic!!!) It's obvious that you're doubling up appointment or over lapping, which really doesn't seem like you have your patients best interest at heart, but more about money. Nothing is business as usual!!!! You screw up my appointment all my voicemails are saved on my phone so I have documentation that you made the error. The lack of professionalism from the front staff really needs to be addressed and trained on hoops laws. Front desk also feel it's appropriate to complain about this location while patients can hear everything. I can't blame them too much because I've witnessed the belittling of the staff from a Doctor in front of me and other in the waiting area. My young daughter was told by her eye doctor to see a specialist. No medical emergency. Dr Vaidya's card was given to me but I was told it's totally up to me where to bring her in the end. So I called Chicago Cornea, asked if this dr works in pediatrics. I was told yes- he sees kids. I made an appointment and waited a couple months. When I got to the office I noticed on the paper work it was geared towards adults. I asked again if he sees kids. The young guy stated yes. After waiting an hour and then being seen, Dr Vaidya told me that he usually doesn't see kids and the issue we came to him for he does not deal with! So, for some reason, the office does not know he doesn't see kids and the dr did not look at her medical file before the visit! He then recommended some else for us to see!!! I came in here for a lasik eye consultation since my regular eye doctor recommended this place. Ignoring all the things that made me uncomfortable, the part that really scares me the most is the fact the only person's name I still remember is Jim, the guy who takes care of appointments and the financial stuff. I met some nurse who did some exams, some doctor with an intern? (she was never introduced) who checked my prescription, and the main doctor who.... I am not sure. I am not even sure if he is the doctor who will do my lasik surgery (I think he isn't since the actual surgery location is at a different branch). This Jim person sort of threw a price for my surgery that seemed high from the information I collected before coming in. He sort of threw this number at me verbally without any reasoning of why my process took this much money. The only literature I got when I left the place is a finance pamphlet. Nothing about the lasik procedure, pricing breakdown...... I did not even get the doctor's business card. I guess I was so use to hearing the term "free consultation" at other places, I guess I though this would be as well but.... yeah.....no..... not free. a few hundred dollars. They could of let me know this before I made the appointment. Lastly, they diluted my eyes for the process and did not give my any sort of shades so I can actually see as I drove back home. I am surprised I made it back home without hitting anything. I am not sure if it's the office staff's fault that I feel this confused or my fault for expecting they will give me all the information without me asking them. At the moment, I am extremely hesitant about the whole idea of LASIK. I might come back here to re-review if I ever choose to go back here for my lasik but I do not think I will at the moment. read more

(The ONLY reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of Maria Rosselson). 1) DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT SEE MARIA ROSSELSON if you want any respect/courtesy/human decency in any appointment. 2) Overall GREAT experience (BESIDES MARIA ROSSELSON- I will elaborate more after I tell about the actual good doctors/nurses). I got Lasik 3 days ago and despite them giving me 25mg of Valium prior to the procedure due to my extreme phobia, I still had a full panic attack during the procedure. Dr Epstein and the whole staff were so supportive/patient with me throughout the whole process, they even let my boyfriend come in to hold my shaking hands. They had to pause halfway through (due to my panic attack) but they didn't make me feel bad about my involuntary response. They allowed me to decompress for a couple of minutes before continuing the procedure. They were the best support system that I truly needed. On a side note, back to MARIA ROSSELSON. I came to her the day after for a check up. First of all, she made me wait an HOUR to see her. When I finally came into the room, I briefly told her I was a little nervous and had a phobia of things touching my eyes so that she'd be aware. She was rude/condescending/totally unprofessional- I had a few silent tears run down my cheek due to her harsh nature/my phobia and she turned to me and literally said "wowww, never had anyone cry. I'm going to do what I have to do or Dr Epstein will deal with you later." in the harshest/most condescending tone. She spent 1 minute with me then pretty much literally shoved my mom and I out of the room (again, after waiting an hour for her to see me for 2 min...). Oh and my mom and I noticed she left another patients info up on the computer in full sight of us while she left the room for minutes, which goes against HIPAA read more

This review is for Dr. Randy Epstein on Harrison street. Don't go here search, google for another place to go, that is if you value your time and if you like to be treated with respect. I went there 3 times, the reason I kept going was because I don't like to judge a place just because I had a bad experience the first time. So I decided to keep going and give them another chance. The problem with this office is that they are always running behind and they will give you some reason like we had emergencies, or that they had a lot of new patients that day. I get it sometimes things happen, things that you cannot control but I have been there 3 times and all 3 times they are running behind. To the lady at the front desk the one with the blond hair you are very rude to people. On my first appointment I saw and heard how you belittle your patients, people are afraid to ask you anything because, you are not approachable and you have a bad attitude. It is hard for me to understand why you treat your patients like that if it wasn't for us, people in that office including the doctors, doctors assistants, and office receptionists, would not have a job. You guys are pushing people away, people that will never come back, people that will tell their family members and friends, and leave bad reviews on social media. To: Doctor Epstein, you asked me to blink and you thought that I did not understand you, so you decided to talk to me in Spanish. Well it's not that I don't understand English, it's just that you were speaking soft and I couldn't hear you through the mask. Also as we were walking out of the exam room, now in a loud voice you say VAMONOS!!!!!!!!!(LET'S GO). Doctor, I think you have me mistaken for Dora the Explorer. But anyhow, what really did it for me was that every time I asked you something about the issue with my eye you did not have an answer. You said that you couldn't help me with that or that you did not know and to see my regular physician. I have been very happy with Dr. Epstein but am only giving 3 stars since their scheduling is HORRIBLE. I had a 4 hr. wait for a half hour appointment. It is extremely rude to make people wait so long. I only live a few minutes away and called before I left and when I arrived in the parking lot (limited seating due to virus) and was told it would be a few minutes. Ha. After waiting in the car for Over An Hour, I called them again, waited, and eventually was allowed into the office where there were 5 people ahead of me. One patient had already been waiting there for over 3 hours! In looking at some of the reviews, I see that this practice isn't unusual, even before the virus hit. They could have told me they were behind,I could have gone home or done my errands and come back; no problem. But instead, my day was pretty much ruined and I was late for an afternoon appointment. Furthermore, there was no restroom access in the entire building without first obtaining a key from the office, so several people waiting so long were continually using and touching the key pass; how unsanitary. The receptionist staff needs to be trained to be more considerate. There's no reason for patients to be sitting in an office for 4 hrs. when they can simply arrive later when the doctor is ready for them. While the doctors and other staff are great, there's no excuse for disregarding their patients' time, who were mostly elderly and/or handicapped. read more

I recently had cataract surgery done by Dr. Randy Epstein and I was completely satisfied by the process and the outcome. My vision is perfect. I read through a few reviews posted here where people are complaining about wait time. For me, I can't imagine anything I'd rather wait for than the care of my eyes. Ophthalmology is a complicated business and unexpected issues are commonplace. If I wait to see Dr. Epstein I am sure it's because he's taking care of another patient. In my experience as a long time patient of Chicago Cornea, whether I'm the first patient of the day or the last, I have Dr. Epstein's fully attention and care. I had early on-set cataracts in my left eye. My regular eye doctor recommended them; I am so glad he did! They are amazing! Everyone, the entire staff, was pleasant, professional and informative. Dr. Rachel Epstein was absolutely the best surgeon and a sweet, kind person to boot. I can see even better than my expectations. Even when I had some questions and concerns, they were right there for me and helped me out completely. If you need any kind of eye surgery or the like; check them out! entered my contact information on their website - got a form response to call to make appointment for a lasik consultation. after providing all my information, and confirming the date - the receptionist informs me that there is a $250 fee for the consult, that can be used toward the cost of the procedure if we move forward. also, the cost of the surgery is $6000. This seems very different from other providers in the area. I have no intention of going to the appointment I made. read more

While the doctors are great at what they do, the receptionists are very cold and inconsiderate of patient's time. They double book everyone and out of five appointments, I always waited a minimum of an hour, even with a scheduled appointment. I had come here for years, but after my last eye examine I will not be returning. Dr, Dennis, is no longer at this location. He was my doctor for many years. He is in their Highland Park office, but too far for me to travel. So I made an appointment with another doctor in their Hoffman estates location. I waited over an hour to see him. The receptionist needs a lesson in friendliness. Put a smile on your face when you greet patients. The young lady that does the eye test was not through and made me feel rushed. When she was asking me to see which letters I could see better. she was flipping them so fast. Now mind you I would not mind waiting providing I left the office with the confidence of receiving a through eye examine. Th doctor came in looked at my eyes. He appeared to be rushed. I had to remind him of a condition that is heredity in my family. He obviously did not even bother to read my chart. He was ready to leave and then picked up the light again, and said lets have another look. He definitely did not give an eye examine like Dr. Dennis. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. I went to another Doctor and got a much better eye examine, no long wait times, and they are just as busy. Staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Also I got different readings on my eye test, and could see much better when I was doing the test to determine my readings. read more

I was told I needed a procedure that was not going to be covered by my insurance company. I contacted my insurance company and my insurance company said that depending on the medical necessity it may be covered. I called Chicago Cornea to ask if they would help me work with the insurance company. Chicago Cornea NOT my insruance company kept telling me it was not covered by insurance. HOW would they know they never spoke with my insruance. I asked to speak to the doctor and he was too busy to take my call. If he is too busy to take my call what happens if i have an issue with my eyes? Talk about poor bedside manners. I dont even want to get into the financing options they offer - its like buying a used car. read more

As an astronomer whose vision is vital, I was lucky to find Chicago Cornea. They are surprisingly different from other eye laser practices in that your treatment is highly individualized - not a mill where they treat everyone the same. Dr. Majmudar was willing to go the extra mile in designing a treatment that specifically addressed my difficult-to-treat case; one that other doctors shied away from. I was impressed with how professionally the practice is run. Even their technicians are very diligent in getting their measurements right - so important! Post-op, the doctors take time with you, making sure you understand details of your case and helping you to be a good partner in your post-laser care, resulting in excellent vision. I have been coming here for many months pre and post Lasik. The doctors and almost all of the staff are very pleasant and professional. The only reason for the 3 stars is the poor experience from the receptionist during almost every single visit over the last few months (about 8 visits in all). Can't remember her name but she is extremely rude in the way she interacts with the patients including being very short on the phone. It is hard to believe that all the doctors and other staff in the office do not notice this and this has at least gone on for however long I have been coming here and today was no exception which was last straw... I would say if you want to be treated like you are at the DMV every time you come here or call, by all means come here. Otherwise look for a place where they understand that they are not doing you a favor by you visiting them. It has been about 1 month since I got my Lasik surgery. The surgery went well and have to say I love not having to wear contacts. I went to the Hoffman Estates office. The only downside I would say is that you never really get a good explanation of lasik and how it all works till after you have spent 1-2 hours looking at eye charts and doing other visual exams. Dr. Majmadar was great and was able to answer my questions. It would have been nice to get a better understanding of the surgery just not the, "your a good candidate". The other strange thing is at the end of the appointment they put you in another room to discuss financials. I feel like I understood the financials more then I did the actual procedure. But I must say I am glad I had the procedure and everything went well. On the day of the procedure the Highland Park office was very professional and I would have to give them a 4/5 stars much better compared to Hoffman Estates receptionists. read more
