    Rosin Eyecare - Insurance coverage

Poor service with little to no interest of helping find answers to insurance questions prior to my…read morevisit. Before the visit I was called to get coverage information. I asked the lady if I could provide that once at the location and she said they would not take me in, so I had to do it on the phone. She found out I had coverage. Once at the store she told me I had no coverage for eye exam for contact lenses. I told her I did but she insisted and did not offer calling my insurance to confirm. I got home and confirmed I do have coverage for eye exam without differentiating if it is for frame or contacts. Also, I have the option for contacts fitting and evaluation. Very disappointed there was no service for me to help figuring this out, ant the person attending just wasn't interested on doing business even when I've been going to this place for the last 5 years. Will definitely change my eye care provider.

My company recently switched insurance so I'm on the hunt for a new repertoire of doctors. I went…read moreto Rosin Eyecare as they have pretty good reviews and was happy with my experience. Very friendly front desk staff, Dr. Patel was awesome and the sales person was nice, as well. I felt really good about my contacts & glasses exam, felt like it was very thorough. My gripe here was the disclosure of prices. I was only told the price of one type of contacts and felt a bit pressured into buying a huge supply. At first I was told to get a year supply which would be $800. I ended up going with a 3 months supply, 2 boxes which still ran me $75 out of pocket after my insurance covered $105. My regular daily contacts cost me the exact same $75 for a 3 month supply so the insurance didn't save me anything at Rosin. Also, I wasn't given an itemized receipt which would have shown me exactly why my bill was so much. When I went back to pick up the contacts, I asked for an itemized receipt. I had gone in for a routine vision exam which was $10 with my insurance, normally $85. They had asked if I wanted a glacoma test which would cost me $15 extra dollars and I declined. But then I see on my itemized receipt I was given a Sphere evaluation for $75 which wasn't covered by insurance. Now I know why they didn't give me an itemized receipt from the beginning and why my out of pocket was so much. I don't feel good that they did a test without my permission of the costs when I went in for a routine exam and find it shady. Despite staff being nice, I won't be back.

So far, so good. Now, we just have to wait and see…read more.. I came home last night and was greeted by my dad complaining about his Left eye being in pain. He insisted that I find him an opthalmologist and schedule an appointment. Thanks to Yelp's directory, I was able to find Dr. John Marchon in our area. When I called his office at 10a this morning, Maryann answered the phone. She is extremely pleasant and articulate. I told her about my dad. She apologized for the ophthalmologist being out of the office. Maryann assured me she would speak with him and call me back with his recommendation as soon as possible. Within an hour, I was on the phone with her with instructions from Dr. Marchon. My dad went to the ER at St. Alexius Brothers. The ER Physician was able to diagnose and treat the eye injury. My dad is home without needing to make a follow up appointment with the referring ophthalmologist. Everyone in my family and relatives all stereotypically wear glasses, have had Lasik surgery or use contacts. We're getting up there in age for risk of eye disease. St. Alexius Brothers Hospital is in close proximity to most of us. If any of us ever needs to see an ophthalmologist, Maryann is the person I'm going to say to call first.

He is one of the most brilliant minds in the country; it seems almost bizarre that such an expert is practicing in Hoffman Estates. Any intimidation I felt staring at the walls of accolades immediately melted away when I met the doctor himself. He's perfectly down to earth: conversational, funny, full of stories. . . it puts a patient right at ease! Heck, I would like to take the guy out to lunch and listen to him chat for an hour. Unlike almost every other doctor I've ever met, he didn't have one hand on the doorknob and a "please shut up" look in his eye throughout the visit. He seemed to have abundant time and patience. He performed an in-office procedure on my eyelid. He explained every detail thoroughly and executed the little surgery with great skill, an A+ experience in every way.

I am thankful for the healthcare professionals and care team at this location…read more From the registration staff, to technicians and medical professionals, even volunteers and security, I have typically had a positive experience. Only downside for me is the cost of care for tests, or things not covered by insurance. (Check out alternative places, like Bright Light Imaging for CT Scans or imaging). The halls and main spaces are kept clean and in order. I especially appreciate the staff in the Breast Care Center. They are very caring individuals. I also find it is a perk to have a nice Starbuck's in the lobby here too, so you can treat yourself to a hot or iced beverage after an appointment. And, this is your reminder ladies (and men) to practice self care and get checked regularly each year. You matter! And this is a nice place to go when care is needed.

My father, a 78-year-old patient, was brought to this ER following a fall at his rehab facility…read more His medical record clearly documented a tape allergy with a specific notation that tape causes skin tears. Despite this being visible in his chart, staff applied standard adhesive tape to his arm. When the bandage was later removed, it tore his skin open, leaving a wound that was still unhealed ten days later and caused him significant pain for several weeks. This was not an emergency situation. He was there for a head CT and was stable. There was no reason his allergy could not have been checked before tape was applied to his fragile, Prednisone-thinned skin. I filed a formal complaint and received a response acknowledging the issue and stating that staff had been educated on allergy documentation. An apology and a staff training do not undo the unnecessary pain this caused my father. Documented allergies exist for a reason. Patients and families should not have to fight to have them respected.
