The Chicago Dental Studio is wonderful! I've always hated going to the dentist. So much so that I waited almost two years between cleanings because my last experience had been so bad. Recently I was walking my dogs and stumbled upon Chicago Dental Studio. I looked into it online and figured I'd give it a try. The office itself is very clean and modern - definitely not intimidating at all. A friendly receptionist greeted me when I came in, and I was seen promptly. Jessica was my hygienist and was so sweet. She was quick and did a great job with my cleaning. Dr. Unterbrunner was awesome, too. He told me I needed a filling fixed, and though I'm always skeptical about that stuff, they take pictures of your teeth to show exactly what they are referring to so you can see what's going on for yourself! When I came back for my filling, everything went smoothly. I'm sure some of it has to do with updated technology, but I don't ever remember getting a filling being so quick and virtually painless. I will definitely be returning, and will keep up with my 6 month cleanings for the first time in a VERY long time. Nothing excites me more than a trip to the dentist - especially when im getting more than a cleaning. NOT!! I love the dentist as much as the next person but considering its not an option, Chicago Dental Studio is a great option in Chicago. Dr. Hoffman is as professional as they come - no BS, no trying to tack on extra charges on your first visit, no waiting, etc..To be completely honest, I was a bit nervous when he walked in because he is a younger dentist but after the first couple minutes, I felt completely comfortable and at ease. Everything was explained in detail and you can just tell he knows exactly what he's doing Added pluses - great ambiance, great music, great location, spotless and brand new equipment, extremely friendly staff....Im not sure if they have other hygienists but Jessica was awesome....and being cute doesn't hurt! The dentist can be a pretty daunting experience, especially if you've out off a check-up for three years. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. The waiting area is clean and modern. The receptionist was sweet and welcoming. I was taken back, on time, and talked a bit with the hygienist who would be working on me. She was super nice and personal. I expressed my nerves and embarrassment for waiting so long and she assured me they'd do their best to get my teeth and gums back to perfection. After my X-rays, I learned I needed a deep, intense cleaning in order to restore the little damage that had occurred to my gums. She even brought out a treatment plan, including what my insurance would cover and what I would be responsible for so I was able to decide what procedures I wanted to take care of and when. It was a no brainer, let's do what we need to do to bring my mouth back to a healthy and clean state. We attacked the left side of my mouth, not nearly as bad as I built it up to be and she was asking how I was doing throughout the cleaning. She numbed me up perfectly and told me exactly what to expect, boy was she spot on. I could tell she knew what she was doing and I could also tell she wasn't there to drill or dig simply because she could, she made it as pain-free as possible. I met with the dentist and he explained things to me, including some options to get my teeth more aligned, and he was also very friendly and personable. Overall, I'm really happy I chose Chicago Dental Studio and even though my next visit will be a second installment of what was done today, I know they have restoring and helping me maintain my oral health as their first priority. I would send anyone here and I look forward to having a nice long relationship with this office. read more

Far and away the best dentist I've ever had. I have been a dental patient in many settings, dealing with everything from W-arches to root-canals to full implants; and Dr. Unterbrunner & co top the list of the dozen or so dentists I've been a patient of. I first visited the studio after seeking a second opinion on a diagnosis of having 8 cavities from another dentist. I was immediately blown away with the imaging technology they used to show me exactly what they were looking at when he presented his diagnosis. Dr. Unterbrunner was friendly, transparent, and highly knowledgable. His staff shared the same attributes, and it became a no-brainer to continue seeing him as my primary dentist in the city. Their emergency-response is also incredible. Just this past week, I was involved a bad bike wreck on the way to work, leaving two of my front teeth chipped. They saw me right away that morning, immediately setting me up with a temporary solution. I was fully briefed on all the options available to me in recovery, which helped me to feel confident in my decision. I will be visiting the office again this week to begin the process of veneers and crowns for the teeth, and know already with confidence that Dr. Unterbrunner will do a fantastic job. That response time is outstanding! If you are looking for a highly-skilled dental office who leverages technology and kindness to give you piece of mind when deciding what to do with your teeth; this office is for you! I had a cavity filled the other day and CDS STILL gets 5 stars! I would give them more if I could. This is the first time that I have gotten a cavity filled and not felt much of anything. The Bose headsets they offer for use during the procedure help sweeten the pot, too. Dr. Unterbrunner is gentle, professional and efficient. The Chicago Dental Studio is the best! Like most I grew up going to the same dentist almost my whole life. When I moved to Chicago after college I struggled to find a dentist that I both liked and felt comfortable with. I tried out at least 3 different practices before finding this gem! It's incredibly easy to get to with only a short walk from the Chicago Brown Line stop. Dr. Unterbrunner is very friendly and professional. The office is impeccably clean and the office has a nice modern flare to it. (And they play some pretty groovy tunes) Hands down the best dental experience I've ever had! At first they had an issue with my appt not being in the system, but ZocDoc having confirmed my appt and sent all my forms in - they quickly removed the confusion at the front desk with all four receptionists speaking at the same time and booked me for one hour later. The service was excellent, the place was super nice, the equipment is very new and it doesn't remind you are sitting in a chair getting your teeth and gums scraped and poked. I had to have an emergency appointment due to my wisdom teeth and everyone was incredible. My original appointment was on August 11th, but the pain got worse and worse. Instead of turning me away, the office was able to get me in that day for a consult. Once I was there, the staff was really nice and patient. They knew I was in pain and did anything to help. Within an hour, all my x-rays were done and they prescribed me the right meds and antibiotics which have since made me feel almost at 100 again. I thought the office was incredible and that I would have to wait a while for the oral surgeon, but my dentist and surgeon were able to respond to me in under 24 hours. I really love this dentist and I will definitely be going back. read more

My husband and I have been going here for a few years, between the two of us we've had x-rays, cavity fillings, and just the run of the mill cleanings. I've always felt that the service is prompt and quick and neither of us have ever felt any discomfort. I would consider never leaving Chicago simply so I don't face the impossible task of finding a replacement. I am TERRIFIED of the dentist and this is the first place I've felt safe and comfortable. 1) They actually listen and accommodate you. I have extremely sensitive teeth and they adjusted cleanings to accommodate my sensitivity and also actually reduced it. Not something I've seen from any other dentist (and I've tried alot). 2) They are efficient and convenient. I was in and out for a filling in 20 minutes. Plus late/early appointments that fit your work schedule! 3) Awesome background music 4) For anyone who is terrified of fillings & such-- they have nitrous oxide (for a fee), sound-canceling headphones, and can even write a Rx for valium if you're desperate. It's a telling sign that I started with all three and they have gained my trust so much that I'm down to only the headphones! read more

No one likes getting dental work done, but Dr. Unterbanner and his staff make it a bit easier. First of all, they are very up-front about the cost and give you itemized plans before doing any work. And they're willing to offer payment plans in the most professional and courteous manner. I had to get a crown done -- it was my first -- but Dr. U was friendly and talked me through the whole process. The office is full of all sorts of modern equipment. He did a digital impression, which created a 3D model of my teeth on the computer. The crown was created through this 3D modeling software, and essentially 3D-printed into porcelain, RIGHT THERE in the office. No temporary, no coming back for another appointment -- I went home with my new crown that day. I'm very impressed and I plan on recommending Dr. U to any friends/family that need a dentist in Chicago. read more

Everything here is just new and crisp with the technology, super friendly employees, gets done quickly. Explain the stuff matter of factly while showing you the problems. Love having water after getting my teeth checked. The only thing is they want to see you more than you need to, so be aware of your benefirs, but I'm going to continue going semi annually for cleanings and checkups. read more

I highly recommend this office. All of the staff, both the dentist and all of the hygienists, are very friendly, knowledgable, and explain what they are doing and why. They care about the health of their patients and always give tips for better oral care (how to floss more effectively, etc.), which I like. Chicago Dental has been taking care of me for 1 1/2 years (cleaning, scaling, implant) the staff is wonderful, gentle and caring. They work well with my insurance and all cost to me are explained. Appointment times are accurate with very little waiting. The office is modern and clean. Dr Unterbrunner is the best dentist ever. I had an accident that resulted in several broken teeth along with stitches on my chin. Dr Unterbrunner was really good at making me feel as comfortable as possible even though I was still shaken up and in pain from my fall. He was very careful to work around my stitches and all of my procedures since then have gone perfectly. He is kind enough to send updates, including pictures, to my uncle who is also a dentist, and my uncle said he has never seen better work! read more

Coming from a series of bad experiences at Lincoln Park Smiles, I am so relieved to have found a new dentist office in Dr. Unterbrunner and team at Chicago Dental Studio. I felt nothing but welcomed and extremely well taken care of from the moment I picked up the phone all the way through my emergency dental visit that the receptionist was kind enough to accommodate last minute. So glad I stumbled upon this dental office. I was going to the same dentist for 15 years and didn't want to travel to the suburbs anymore. I was pleasantly suprised by how the staff treated me. They were so warm & welcoming. The studio is very clean and bright & the machines are state of the art. Brooke cleaned my teeth & Dr Hoffman came in and checked on me after she was done. Since posting my review, Dr. Hoffman reached out to me regarding the issues I had with service. He apologized that I never got a call back, that he never got the message. He also apologized for the other issues I had and took ownership for them, and seemed to care about feedback so that they can make changes and improve service. He also sent me a new set of retainers that fit me properly so that I'm not in pain from wearing them anymore. While this doesn't change my whole experience, I appreciate that he took the time to reach out and hope that the problems I had help institute change for future patients. read more

Dr. Unterbrunner and his team have been a God send. I had so many dental issues ranging from numerous cavities to a couple extractions & implants. I felt a bit insecure and embarrassed going in with such a mess, but Dr. Unterbrunner made me feel completely comfortable. No judgment, but honest assessment. It was a process, but he helped me get my teeth back to a normal & healthy state. Each time I visited during the process, he was honest and encouraging about the state of my dental health. He told me where we were, where we were headed, and how we were going to get there. And he always follows up personally after each procedure to make sure I'm doing okay, which I appreciate. It's not easy to put full faith in healthcare professionals, but time and time again, Dr. Unterbrunner has proven that he knows what he's talking about and he has the skill to carry it out. I've been with The Chicago Dental Studio for 2 and a half years, and it's been one of the best decisions I've made. The staff from reception to hygienists to insurance & payment coordinators are great and make my visits stress-free. I've recommended The Chicago Dental Studio to friends and co-workers because they've definitely helped to improve my quality of life. Great dentist! Everyone is really nice, the office is very modern and clean. Honestly, every time I go there for a checkup and cleaning I am so relaxed that I almost doze of and take a nap! I received 4 veneers, a gingivectomy, and whitening services. My experience at the Chicago Dental Studio has been nothing short of phenomenal. Each aspect of this Dental practice far exceeded my expectations more than I thought was possible. From the facility, the women at the front desk, to Dr. Hoffman and all the things in between... satisfied is an understatement. As a medical student, I appreciate cleanliness, efficiency, and high-end technology, which accurately describe the Chicago Dental Studio. The facility on Huron is clean, sleek, and modern. On my first visit, it felt as if I walked into the future with how advanced their facility appeared. The tools they used throughout my services were ones I had never seen at other dentist offices. The tools allowed for faster procedures, quicker recovery, and the best possible outcome available. The women at the front desk are knowledgeable, polite, and on top of the logistics. Each interaction with the various receptionists was smooth and each woman knew exactly what was going on. They treated me as a person, instead of a patient, and paid attention to the details of my services. The team, as a whole, was always on time. I never waited past the start of my appointment and was usually taken in early. Dr. Hoffman is the best that is out there, and his knowledge on his specialties extend beyond the average dentist. He successfully and beautifully placed 4 veneers without a single issue in less than 1 month!! I had such a strict time frame and he tackled that challenge without cutting a single corner. Additionally, his customer service and care for each case he takes on is exceptional. He answered texts at midnight addressing concerns I had. He personally tracked down the driver with the package delivery of my veneers so that my services would get done by the deadline. I sent a text regarding a simple, non-urgent question that could have been answered at a later time. But, Dr. Hoffman called me immediately after while he was on his honeymoon in Thailand!! Just wow. He is absolutely amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything more than what he and his team have provided me during my services with them. I highly recommend The Chicago Dental Studio. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They explain everything to you, answer any questions you may have, and do everything they can to guarantee a comfortable experience. The office is very clean and modern and they offer flexible hours to accommodate your schedule. Upon arrival, I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. They also send email and text reminders of upcoming appointments which I appreciate. It had been years since my last visit to the dentist. On my first visit to the Chicago Dental Studio, Dr. Unterbrunner let me know what I needed to have done and gave me a proposed treatment plan which breaks down the procedures and the costs, showing what my insurance covers and what I'd be responsible for. So far I've had a deep cleaning on the right half of my mouth and my upper wisdom teeth extracted. I've heard dental horror stories about such procedures but to my surprise, there was minimal discomfort during both procedures. I go back in a few weeks to get the left side of my mouth deep cleaned and I can honestly say my fears of going to the dentist are over. If you're nervous about going to the dentist, don't be. This place is still great. I've been coming here and seeing Dr. Hoffman for 3 years now and have recommended this place to a lot of people. I've been seen by many different hygienists over the years and they've all been great. I was seen by Andi today and she was super friendly and did a great job on my teeth. She was very thorough and managed to clean away my red wine stains. I especially like that they make me feel at ease when I need any additional services. When I needed a night guard, they didn't aggressively push me to get it and even told me the pros and cons versus an over the counter solution. I highly recommend this place! read more

Simply the worst dental care experience I have ever had. I am surprised at all the great reviews here. The impression I got is that this is an unprofessional, unethical practice, only interested in ripping off anyone who walks in. In Short: The doctor had recommended EXTRACTING A COMPLETELY HEALTHY TOOTH, WITHOUT EVEN DOING AN X-TRAY OF IT (they did many other x-rays) and tried to scare and BULLY me into having that procedure done immediately. I ended up going to a true professional, who healed me without taking any extreme measures. All it took was helping a piece of apple core that had stuck deep between my gum and tooth to get out (apologies for TMI, but to give you a clear picture of the extent of the absurdity of the situation). In detail, chronologically - Upon walking in, the office was not nearly as clean or impressive as it might seem from the reviews. The receptionists did not even bother to smile or show a littlest bit of care. Minor, but be aware. - The assistants making the x-rays were unprofessional and very rough. A total of 6 x-ray attempts were made, only 3 of them came out fine. The first assistant made 4 attempts, only 1 of which came out. She had to call the second one fro help, who thankfully only made 2. - Doctor Hoffman was coming in and out, running between two patients simultaneously. When I finally got time with him, he did not care to provide satisfactory answers to my questions: he very obviously seemed irritated at the mere fact that I even had any questions or hesitations. - After examining my swollen gum he declared that my wisdom tooth must be extracted urgently. Mind you, they had NOT MADE AN X-RAY OF THE TOOTH THEY WANTED TO EXTRACT. So, I asked the doctor if anything was wrong with the tooth, and he said NO, but it is what is causing the gum to swell, so it must be extracted. - He said he can extract it right away. When seeing my hesitation, he tried to bully me into it. He said that there is an infection that can spread through the whole of my body, and once I have sepsis I will be hospitalized and put on antibiotics via IV. When I responded that I am allergic to antibiotics, he said: "What is worse, antibiotics or death? You decide". So he was creating a picture in my mind where, if I refuse to extract the tooth, I am already dying in a hospital bed. - In the end, I had to pay 90$ out of pocket on spot for that "pleasure", as they explained that they don't bill. - I went home shocked, and traumatized - emotionally from that terrible conversation, and physically from the very rough x-ray at an already swollen gum. The next day I went to the nearest dental practice, got lucky to meet and excellent, caring and professional doctor who healed me without ever trying to scare me. read more
