It's very important to have your veneers done correctly the first time. I had six veneers done in 2020 with no attention paid to my bite. By 2021 my veneers were chipped and half falling off. Dr. Hoffman took control of the situation. He fixed my bite and got me a new set of veneers that looked 10x better than the first set. I only wish I had found him before. I spent so much money here that I really want to be able to give it at least 3 stars but I can't and here is why. Pros: - Convenient, clean and aesthetically pleasing office. - Dr. Hoffman is nice. - The invisalign technology was awesome - No gooey molds! Cons: - The front desk staff. I had invisalign so I had MANY appointments here over the course of a year. Every time I went in for a check up, the girls at the front could barely be bothered to lift their heads to acknowledge or check me in. There were no smiles or friendly greetings or anything that you want when you're uncomfortable and keep having to go back to the dentist. A lot of the time, they didn't know answers to basic questions, and I literally always felt like a walking dollar sign to them instead of a real patient. One time they had a dog behind the front desk. Some of these women were also hygienists or assistants, which sucked because it ALWAYS felt like I was the first patient they were ever taking scans for and that they were just rushing me through to get my money. I don't write this to be mean but rather to encourage better training of the front desk staff. Or hire new people honestly. - The technology in the office was great, but I would rather watch HGTV while getting my mouth ripped apart than to watch a rotating slideshow of all the places I can give them a 5 star review (ick). If they can fix personnel issues, this would be the best practice in River North. I hope they can! read more

We have been blessed to have such good dental providers in Dr. Unterbrunner and his staff in our neighborhood! Dr. Adam Unterbrunner not only has a way with adults but also children and our toddler enjoyed going for his routine dental checkups. Dr. Unterbrunner was our son's first dentist and we have not looked anywhere else ever since. For every appointment, he kept our 4 year old son engaged and excited while performing all checkups with utmost professionalism. At the end of every checkup he would let our son pick a toy/treat from the treasure chest for being cooperative and brave (I wish I had dentists' like Dr. Adam growing up). His staff is always courteous, transparent and extremely helpful in matters relating to scheduling, payments and requesting for dental records. Their admin process is extremely streamlined - text and email reminders for upcoming appointments, easy rescheduling in the event of any emergencies and most importantly transparent copay information after appointments for the patients so there are no surprises for later. When we decided to move out of Chicago, obtaining our dental records and images was a breeze. After we filled out the necessary forms, their staff (Stephanie and Genta) mailed us our dental records in no time. Dr. Adam also took time to provide us with his recommendations for dentists in the Bay Area as per our request. I highly recommend Chicago Dental Studio for all ages. DO NOT FALL FOR THE TRAP. I went here after looking for a new dentist. After seeing all the amazing reviews, I decided to give the Chicago Dental Studio a try. The office was beautiful and very high tech, so it appeared to be a great spot. Mid way through my cleaning, the hygienist told me that I would have to come back for a 2nd cleaning because one wasn't enough. Never have heard this from any dentists before! They also told me I had 5 cavities, and needed Invisalign to fix the spaces in my teeth which were causing the cavities. The BEST part- they told me my wisdom teeth which I had removed 3 years ago were GROWING BACK. what a joke!! After seeing another dentist, he confirmed NONE of the above was true. Not only did I have no cavities, but to no surprise my wisdom teeth were not growing back in. These dentists at Chicago dental studio lied to my face and completely misdiagnosed me, on purpose. This place is a rip off. All they care about is money and selling services you do not need. I do not know how they are still in business. if you do go here, get a second opinion before you give them a penny!!! read more

I'm updating my review after getting a crown and having yet another better-than-expected experience. As always, the staff and Dr. Unterbrunner were super patient and kind during my procedure, but it was the technology that really blew me away. No yucky impressions, no temporary crown, no second dental visit -- they did my crown in a single appointment by taking a digital image of my molar and then making the crown right there in the office (as I understand it, the back teeth can usually be done in a single visit because color matching isn't as much of an issue as it would be with front teeth). I watched as Dr. Unterbrunner designed my crown on the computer, and the fit ended up being perfect. My bite did not change at all, which totally amazed me. So impressed. read more

I have had everything from root canals, to invisalign, to veneers, and teeth whitening and my expectations are completely blown out of the water. EVERY. TIME. I have been coming here for years, and recently I had to experience my first filling (I made it almost 33 years without needing one). I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the experience to get a filling was less "annoying" than any of my tattoos. Man this dentist office really does live up to the hype. I moved to Chicago 2 years ago and actually went to another dentist I found on Yelp. After going a few times, I wasn't totally pleased so I came back to the drawing board and found Chicago Dental Studio. With 100+ 5 star reviews, I knew they had to be good. All of the staff is so nice and welcoming, and Dr. Hoffman is awesome. I have TMJ, and they got me fitted with a special mouth guard that was far far better than the regular one my other dentist gave me. I also needed a crown and instead of having to wait for weeks to get something in, they 3D PRINTED MY TOOTH!! Yes I have a 3D printed tooth in my mouth. I feel like I'm from the future. I love that they do everything in this office, I don't have to go to another outsourced office to get something like a TMJ specialist etc. The only thing I wish they had was some sort of online scheduling system, but whatevs.... guess it forces me to pick up the phone every once in a while am I right?!? As someone who has historically hated dentists with a passion, I've gotta say, this place is awesome. I'll preface this review by saying I'm not the usual patient who walks in and gets showered with compliments about how nice my teeth are. Instead, I'm usually met with a sigh and some sort of rebuke at my dental hygiene. As a result, I've developed an expected level of anxiety coming to dental offices that went away quickly here. I had a deep cleaning, couple fillings and a crown re-done and everyone was really professional, empathetic and really made the process enjoyable actually. I'm starting invisalign in a couple weeks and this place is top notch with all the tech that goes into all the processes from beginning to end. Their prices are outrageous for cosmetic work, definitely the highest i've seen in the city. They didn't give a good reason on why they're so high, claimed there was a markup for the doctor's expertise when I showed them quotes from practices that are just as established if not more. They quoted me $18K for work on six teeth. Completely insane. More than double what other reputable practices quoted me. The Invisalign was ~40% higher than normal too. I'm sure the doctor knows what he's doing but the prices are inflated for sure. read more

Nothing scares me more than going to the Dentist. NOTHING. My whole life...my worst fear. Terrible memories of horrific drilling and pain from childhood. Historically, I would have rather knocked my own teeth out like Tom Hanks did in Castaway than visit one of these angels of pain and death. However, I recently needed to go to a dentist after boycotting for some time. Yes, I know, pathetic. Found CDS after scrutinizing their reviews online. And reluctantly called to set up an appointment. WOW. The best experience I have EVER had with a Dentist. Modern. Friendly. Sweet technology. Even the music is enjoyable. Ive had several visits for more than just cleanings. I'm blessed with the crappiest dental genes on the planet. Every visit has been efficient, friendly and essentially painless. Including today, which was 2 hours of ear piercing drilling. At the end of it all, I left happy and satisfied. Though a little sore and numb, Dr. Unterbrunner is my boy now. He is beyond patient. Believe me, Im sure Im a pain in the ass. Moving forward, I think it is safe to say that my fear factor for dentists has dropped from an 300 to a 3. Still some ways to go but Im feeling much better about this whole teeth thing. I kind of need them. read more

As a 9 yrs patient who has followed Dr. Hoffman over the years, can not recommend him and his staff enough. I have a wide variety of dental issues - ranging from basic cavities to crowns to root canals to veneers. Dr. Hoffman not only is a brilliant and talented dentist, he acts with integrity and quickly gained my trust early on. As I have a lot of dental issues (with very good dental insurance) I have had dentists, over the years, recommend work not needed. At a previous practice Dr. Hoffman was starting out in, another dentist told me I needed to replace 2 crowns and Dr. Hoffman confidently disagreed with her and then he walked me through why that was not the case. They care about $$$ first and foremost and it's very clear during the appointment that you are just a number. I felt so uncomfortable and I am glad I went with my gut. Their goal is to make as much money from you, not necessarily fix your teeth. Everyone has a well rehearsed sales pitch. They insist they can't clean your teeth if they don't do a full set of other procedures which of course are going for well above average rate. The girl who was doing the cleaning even told me that she can't do a good job because my teeth are not straight enough, so I have to do Invisalign. My teeth are not impeccable, but I had never heard anything like that from any dentist before. They will have you sign a paper on how much they will charge you for the next visit (I'm not joking). I'm suspecting they are doing this after they see what insurance covers, so that they milk every last dollar from them. So borderline insurance fraud. A couple of my friends had a similar experience. They get two stars because the lady did a good cleaning and the room was impeccable, but the dentist literally spent less than two minutes looking at my teeth to spot potential issues, while giving his own sales pitch about dental products and trashing my previous dentist. read more

I first started going to Dr. Hoffman when he practiced in Lakeview and I lived in Lakeview, so it was a convenient option-- since then, he's moved downtown, and I moved to the Indiana suburbs, and I happily make the trek to be able to keep him as my dentist! Dr. Hoffman, the hygienists, and the staff at Chicago Dental Studio are absolutely fabulous-- I am very nervous about my teeth (I get nitrous even when I get cavities filled) and they have always made me feel comfortable and welcome. The office itself is also beautiful-- it seems like you're at a spa more than a dentist's office! Dr. Hoffman is by far the best dentist I have ever been to!! He is very attentive to what you want and what you are looking for and makes you feel extremely comfortable! He has done a few crowns and fillings and fixed some issues from past dental work. After that work was done we then talked about the fun stuff, Veneers! He did an unbelievable job! I had Lumineers previously on my top two and bottom two teeth. I was unhappy with both the shape and color. After a consult with Dr. Hoffman I decided to get my top four and bottom four teeth done. It's not often, never actually, that I say I enjoy going to the dentist. I've had several bad experiences over the past years which resulted in me constantly searching for new dentists. However, since I found the Chicago Dental Studio, it has gotten a lot easier. The dental studio is really inviting, modern and clean. Staff is nice and accommodating, especially Melody, who always makes sure I'm comfortable during all my treatments and informed of everything going on. Dr. Hoffman is really easy going, easy to talk to, caring and he knows what he's doing. I initially went to get a second opinion on Invisalign, and ended up going with it after my consultation. He understood what my end goal was, and I got there 10 months later. Since I had a good experience with my Invisalign treatment, i stuck with Dr. Hoffman as my regular dentist and it continues to be a positive experience. Lastly, they value your time! If your appointment is at 6, you get seen at 6. That is very rare in the medical industry so it's definitely refreshing. At first they had an issue with my appt not being in the system, but ZocDoc having confirmed my appt and sent all my forms in - they quickly removed the confusion at the front desk with all four receptionists speaking at the same time and booked me for one hour later. The service was excellent, the place was super nice, the equipment is very new and it doesn't remind you are sitting in a chair getting your teeth and gums scraped and poked. I would consider never leaving Chicago simply so I don't face the impossible task of finding a replacement. I am TERRIFIED of the dentist and this is the first place I've felt safe and comfortable. 1) They actually listen and accommodate you. I have extremely sensitive teeth and they adjusted cleanings to accommodate my sensitivity and also actually reduced it. Not something I've seen from any other dentist (and I've tried alot). 2) They are efficient and convenient. I was in and out for a filling in 20 minutes. Plus late/early appointments that fit your work schedule! 3) Awesome background music 4) For anyone who is terrified of fillings & such-- they have nitrous oxide (for a fee), sound-canceling headphones, and can even write a Rx for valium if you're desperate. Like the rest of the world, going to the dentist is not my favorite thing ever. Since we've been living here for 7 months now I decided it was time to get my teeth cleaned and face the need for a cleaning. I found The Chicago Dental Studio on yelp, and was impressed by it's 5/5 star review...after my appointment today I know why! The office is beautiful, very modern but not stuffy. You can tell they keep everything clean, organized, and up to date. Since it was my first cleaning with them and I just switched insurance companies, they recommended a full series of x-rays and had it pre-approved with my insurance company so I had nothing to worry about. Not only that, their x-rays are fully digital, meaning less radiation for the patient and more convenient access to clearer pictures for them. The hygienist, Jessica, was phenomenal. She was very professional and did a thorough job of explaining every treatment she performed on my teeth. You can tell she really enjoys her job and is good at it. Dr. Unterbrunner was great. He was very professional and easy to talk to. Asked me all about my day, how I felt about my teeth, what questions I had...etc...He even pulled down my xrays and pictures and explained any potential issues to me. Like other dentists, he recommended a treatment and a specific toothpaste, but I felt no pressure to move forward with either. He had good explanations behind his recommendations and it made me feel he was trustworthy. All in all, I am looking forward (???) to my sixth month appointment. They were great! read more
